As I was doing so, the manager approached me and sharply told me I needed to ask first. I explained that the waiter had just directed me to retrieve it, but she repeated, "Usually, you need to ask." Her tone and facial expressions felt rude and dismissive. I understand having rules, but a little courtesy and willingness to listen would have gone a long way.
