I was walking through Chelsea square and looking for a place to eat, there was a decision between this place and pizza. There were no seats at the pizza place and they have a happy hour from 3-5 so I decided to inquire. I arrived at 458 and asked if they would honor happy hours and they obliged, this solidified the deal for me! Food: 4/5. I ordered the pork braut in a bun with the sauerkraut and onions on top. I was a little disappointed in the sauerkraut, I was expecting a more vinegar taste being a German style eatery. The beer was from cigar city which is based out of Tampa in Florida where I'm from. I was disappointed I did not get a German beer but that was my own fault, I ordered an IPA and saw it after. The fries were delicious, I could taste the salt on them which was nice. They tasted as if they were freshly prepped that day which I enjoyed about it. Service: 5/5 I would say because of the quickness of the service, honoring happy hour even thought it was minutes towards the end and making everything so quickly. They were not busy when I arrived, however someone came after me and I saw the same speed of service. The ambiance: 5/5. If you're a 90's babies you will LOVE their playlist. Berlin Currywurst is the best Currywurst I have had in NYC by a fairly wide margin, but for those seeking the real deal, reminiscent of Currywurst experienced in Berlin or elsewhere in Germany, your search will continue. It's not here. Berlin Currywurst is in the bustling Chelsea Market and the experience is greatly enhanced by the myriad of offerings and people in the Chelsea Market, particularly if you're there on a weekend afternoon. They have some German beers on offer in bottles and cans and a few beers, US and German on tap. Service is as friendly as can be when so many people are there. The Currywurst is served with a nice piece of bread and the Wurst is a decent portion. Fries are extra. The Wurst is about ten and the beer about five. So you're paying a bit for the Chelsea experience. The sauce is fortunately not as cloyingly sweet as I have experienced elsewhere in the City. Fortunately, they have a decent sausage with which to work and all of this will strike someone who has never had the real deal as quite good. If you've had the real deal, neither the Wurst or curry sauce will meet your expectations. Upgrade the Wurst and boost the curry would be my recommendation. If there is one note of authenticity, it is they serve it on a cardboard container with the small wooden fork and most people will find it satisfying, but as some have noted, it is not worthwhile to come here if that is your sole reason for coming to the Chelsea Market or you are coming from a distance. BC is nestled within Chelsea Market which is a great place to visit, although, it's busy regardless of when you go. There are always people milling about and I found it a bit hectic to navigate while pushing a Cadillac of a stroller, all by myself. I am a lover of cased meat (that IS what she said) so I ordered a couple of beef brats on buns with sides. Their lunches are $8 and come with your choice of brat, either on a bun or currywurst style which seems to be sliced and sauced. I went with buns for each and the guy was really nice, separating the toppings so that the buns would stay in tact.
