I came here on a Sunday for the Turkish breakfast which spanned several variations of eggs and simit ranging from $14-$18 (the main part of the dish is the simit bread and I would've liked some more vegetables in the meal). The decor was quaint and I liked that some tables had floor cushion seating! For me, what stood out was the cheese borek which was exceeded my expectations in cheesiness, the kunefe dessert also followed a similar style except also being covered in pistachios and a sweet syrup. I also liked the dish ware the Turkish tea was served in! The server was kind and answered all our questions though once it got busier, having only one server to manage all the tables wasn't enough. Overall, I'd recommend getting here early for breakfast before the lunch rush and for a unique dining experience (the server let us know there's live music on Friday and Saturday nights that typically gets booked out)

I got the adana kebab in the afternoon. It wasn't very crowded and the restaurant has a lot of seatings. Great portion for good price. It's a well balanced meal and very flavorful. I like that they give a single chili pepper. After eating about half, I got full and got the rest to go.

Order delivery, but do not dine in as service is non-existent. I first tried Saray when I was at my friend's house. I was impressed with the platter and appies she ordered so I decided to introduce this place to my friends and we went to dine in. Big mistake! Upon walking in, you'll notice the restaurant is dark and gloomy. The female servers didn't acknowledge us but the male host was friendly enough and brought us to a table in the corner and gave us menus. After that they completely forgot about us. It took me way too much effort to get the server's attention, and when she finally came to take our order, she didn't write it down, which always worries me. We ordered 3 mains, 2 appies and drinks, and of course 1 of our appies never came. manti: I really liked this appie. The dumplings were very light and I liked the yogurt-butter-garlic sauce. cigar borek: comes with a blob of garlic butter to dip the cigar in. It was nice to try, but it was plain and I would not order it again. platter: the mix platter (Saray special for 4) is great for sharing and the meat had a lot of flavour. It came with an assortment of meat, rice, salad, a grilled tomato and bread. lamb chop: comes with 6 pieces of lamb and is on the pricier side, but the lamb is cooked to perfection. beef kebab: like all their plates, it comes with rice, bread and salad. The beef was a bit too chewy and wasn't as flavourful as the other meat dishes we ordered. chicken donair on rice: a deconstructed donair. This came with a ton of chicken, a blob of garlic butter and a grilled tomato. It was very satisfying and I would order this again.

Looks like the old Socrates (Greek place; they've now moved near Hastings & Willingdon) is now a Turkish place. Parking is available on Hastings, as well as the side streets. The inside looks a bit like a rug store, with the fancy colourful patterns. Certain parts of it still look Greek from the past incarnation, but whatever. There are some speakers and a few large TVs near the back. Guessing this is for karaoke nights. Most of the seating is the conventional type, but there are some traditional style booths (floor cushions and low tables) as well. Staff were friendly. The mixed platter donair platter contains both shredded beef and chicken. Comes with a piece of bread (bun?), a blob of garlic butter, some (tomato based?) diping sauce, a grilled tomato, and some salad. Overally it was quite tasty, but it was also a bit on the pricey side. Not a bad choice overall, but there are similar places around town that are a better deal.

My friend who is also a foodie freak like me brought me here for lunch. It was my first time to eat in Saray. From the door, decors, tables and chairs reminded me of my time spent in Turkey. Looks like its family owned, all of them are Turkish. Most of the clients that day were Middle Easterns. Very friendly service and homey ambiance. As told by the owner they have a show music and dancing but I cant remember what day it is. From one corner there were music instruments, drums, microphone and a mini stage permanently set up, I even took pictures of me pretending Im doing a show. Huge place somewhere along Hasting, parking is free by the side and some at the rear, paid parking is available as well. Turkish inspired interior decors and honestly im loving it. Food; we ordered beef and chicken sis kebab grilled meat served with rice, bulgur(cracked wheat food stuff), bread and salad Drinks; they serve alcoholic beverages and all kinds of sodas but we tried the gazoz a Turkish soda. Dessert; 1)Knafe a traditional Middle Eastern dessert its a pastry made of span called katnifi soaked in a sweet syrup called attar and layered with cheese Very very delish taste thesame what I always eat when I was vacationing in Turkey 2)Baklava also a layered pastry dessert filled with chopped nuts (looks like my blood sugar is in trouble today ) Very pleasant experience how I wish we came supper time when they have the show and belly dancing. No single complaints with the dishes we ate specially the desserts. Washroom needs some make over its clean though. Noise level is average when we visited. Not too busy but a lot of people in and out to pick up orders. 100% good for large group, excellent for family and kids friendly. Accept cash/card and debit. Market value; for me just okay quality dishes and still affordable. Me coming back? YESSSS I even recommend this place we only have few Turkish resto in town. Kudos!!

Had birthday dinner celebration for 10 people and our experienced was good. I believed all seats were reserved for dinner time and there was a DJ for entertainment. The place was good and spacious. There's a dance floor and a stage for entertainment. Staff were friendly and food was amazing. The beef was tender, juicy and tasty. A bit of pricey and was surprised they charge $15 per person as Music fee. The music was just too loud because of dancing and you have to yell everytime you wanted a conversation with your friends.

It's especially good if you have a group of people dining with you. That way you can share different dishes and enjoy lots of different flavors. The Mixed Plate is especially good for that. I have seen from their menu online that they also offer something called Padisha's Table which requires a minimum of 4 adults ordering it, and costs $36 per person. For this visit we had the following: Beyti Sarma Small Mixed Plate Cheese Lovers Pide Lamb Durum Wrap Veggie Guvech Turkish Coffee Turkish Tea The Small Mixed Plate came with a humungous slab of lavash bread! It was crazy how big this piece of bread was. We were a group of 5 people and this Small Mixed Plate by itself could have been our lunch. It was such a huge piece of bread. Sooo good though. They baked it in the oven until it got all nice and puffy, and it came to our table piping hot. I always enjoy this Mixed Plate starter. It comes with such a nice variety of dips. My absolute favorite dip though is the Baba Ghannush. I think next time I eat at this restaurant, I will add on a separate order of the Baba Ghannush so I enjoy more of it than what comes in the Mixed Plate starter! I loved my Veggie Guvech. The veggies were roasted and baked to perfection. I'm someone who likes my food soft, so I was happy to find that the veggies in this dish were nice and soft. The menu description says that this dish comes with Lavash. I didn't see any more Lavash bread come other than the huge slab that came with our Small Mixed Plate. Perhaps they did this on purpose though. The one huge piece of bread is equivalent to several smaller pieces that you might get in other restaurants. I certainly didn't need anything more than the huge piece of bread we'd already been served, so was very glad not to see anything else come with my Veggie Guvech. If you're a cheese love, you can't go wrong with the Cheese Lovers Pide. It's our daughter's "go to" dish when we order from this restaurant. She really loves her cheese! The people who ordered Lamb Durum Wrap said the lamb inside their wraps was very moist and tender. I do recall also hearing good things about lamb dishes from this restaurant in the past, when we ordered takeout from them. The Turkish Coffee and Tea come in some beautifully designed cups. I have travelled to Turkey in the past and enjoyed a hot apple tea in a Turkish Tea cup. The cup that was used here was very much like the cup I drank from in Turkey. I never had coffee when I was in Turkey, but judging from how unique the design of the cup here was, it's probably a very traditional design for a Turkish coffee cup since the Turkish Tea cup was just like the ones I saw in Turkey. Highly recommend this place! There aren't a lot of Turkish restaurants within Metro Vancouver. This place is an absolute gem!

No other concern other than the road noise. We were a party of three - 2 adults and one 5-year old toddler. We ordered 4 things - 1. Mantu - very good but expensive for 4 dumplings 2, Chicken Shami Kebab - Comes with super soft buttery naan bread, Melt in the mouth kebabs and possibly the best kebab of my life. My son loved it and primarily ate most of it. 3. Uzbeki Palaw - Very good but the rice to meat ratio could be disappointing. 4. One cocktail and it was very good, very ethnically inspired. Everything was amazing. Portion sizes are small and we finished everything. Our server was so warm and advised visiting during brunch hours the next time to enjoy more kebabs given we likes it the best. Other tips! 1. Service is fairly quick. We were in and out within the hour. 2. There is street parking but finding a spot may still be challenging at any point. There is parking in the building but when we visited, the entrance to it was not working. 3. Reservations are highly recommended for weekends to be seated inside which is very chic and upscale. 4. Menu is pretty kid friendly food and none of the food was remotely spicy.
