My fiancée left clear instructions twice for the 3 person cleaning crew. Once when they arrived at our home at 3PM, and again when my fiancée left to run errands at 4:30. The reason we requested E & I is my 1 year old daughter's birthday party is tomorrow, and we are hosting guests in our front living room. The clear instructions were to clean the front living room and floor before the crew finished their job. That was the primary requirement. In addition to the simple task of cleaning the front living room and floor, we asked they focus on the kitchen, master bedroom and bath, and 3 bathrooms. At 5PM a 4th person arrived, Edna, the owner. She asked me what areas my fiancée wanted cleaned. Right there I should have asked her and the 3 other (very slow) cleaners to leave, because she simply admitted she didn't know what needed to be cleaned and what our instructions were. They cleaned the master bedroom and bath, the 3 bathrooms, and "most" of the kitchen, but only quickly vacuumed and wiped the kitchen floor. The only thing they did not clean, was the front living room and floor where we planned to host our daughters birthday party the following day. NOTHING was touched in that room, we had even picked up prior to their arrival to make sure our personal belongings were out of the way. We paid $360 for 9 "man hours" of time, that's 3 people from 3PM-6PM. The instructions were not followed, and on top of that we immediately called Edna, the owner, to ask her why the room and the kitchen floor was sticky, and still dirty (see photo). First my fiancée spoke to her and got no where, and then I spoke to her. All in all, the call lasted 36 minutes. She kept saying "we didn't have enough time", "the house was in bad shape", "that's not what your fiancée told my people", "we rushed the kitchen floor, because there was not enough time" -- it was a broken record over and over again. We told her we were not satisfied, we clearly explained the instructions were not followed, as it was clear her staff couldn't communicate with each other nor her, the owner, about what the client, my fiancée, had asked for. We asked for her to fix the problem, she said she could "only finish the kitchen floor" if she returned, which clearly means she still does not understand that the VERY FIRST item requested was for the living room to be cleaned, and that the living room comes before any other room in the house. If you come to fix anything, how about vacuum the living room floor? The fact that the call lasted 20 minutes is obvious I wasted my time, since I argued with her and played her excuse game over and over again, and that she talked to a client for 20 minutes in the time it would have taken her to at least vacuum our living room floor, and likely at least finish the kitchen floor, instead she chose to not honor her service minutes after she and her crew left our house in favor of arguing with a client whom she wanted to do even more business with. Yes, she left an estimate for $225/bi-weekly cleaning. We'll happily take our business elsewhere. E & I Refund policy: "...cannot offer refunds. However, we want you to be 100% satisfied with E & I House Cleaning. Please see our 24-hour guarantee if you are dissatisfied with your cleaning." -- I'm cool with no refunds, but what is hilarious is we told her we obviously were dissatisfied and so the "100% satisfaction" is a JOKE!. Not sure what the "24-hour guarantee" is since it is not listed on their website, nor their contract?? It's 8PM the evening before my daughters first birthday, and I'm doing the job my family hired Edna, and her crew from E & I House Cleaning to do in the first place. HIRE AT YOUR OWN RISK -- if you don't care about detail, and don't need instructions followed or get what you asked for, then take a chance with them. E & I House Cleaning has been around since 2008, but the owner and operation comes across as amateur and unprofessional. 1-star rating: for not following basic instructions, for not finishing basic cleaning (the floor), for miscommunication between the crew and owner, for arguing with the customer, for not rectifying the problem despite "100% satisfaction" and "24-hour guarantee". First cleaning day was today and they were on time, in, and out as promised! The place looked great! I already had a feeling that I was going to like E & I housecleaning, based solely on how organized the owner was for our initial meeting. Her attention to detail and service was far beyond my expectations, based on my last housekeeper. The origination of my skepticism: My last housekeeper (whom I fired after she complained about one too many things) had a problem with bending too much, dusting pictures, wiping walls, reaching high things, cleaning high ceilings, vacuuming rooms, parking downtown, and so many other things that wound up being major inconveniences to me (I would give her my parking spot on cleaning days, etc). I put up with so much crap from her, I guess I was expecting at least some of the same from the next company. None of those issues arose with E&I! So far, the experience has been stress-free, seamless, and outstanding. During our first meeting, Edna even told me that I could leave dirty dishes in the sink (not that I would), leave the bed unmade, and that she wasn't worried about parking! I think my jaw may have hit the floor. Although E & I is more expensive, they are WELL worth it. I still can't find anything in my home that I'm not happy with for this initial cleaning, and I'm as critical as they come as a customer. That is well worth a few extra bucks per month! My friend recommended E&I cleaning to us, I was expected it to be very good. I believe her experience is very good and they clean what they asked. However, I got A VERY VERY FRUSTRATED EXPERIENCE and was charged UNREASONABLE. I have to say, when something happened, their team doesn't know how to handle it at all and they are very unreasonable on charging and negotiating. At the very beginning, Edna is very easy to talk with and they schedule the cleaning professionally. But this is not it! I was calling the deep cleaning for moving in after remodelling. From the beginning, I wasn't told there shouldn't be anyone in the house when they're doing the cleaning. So two of my contractors are still doing some small work (basically install the wall plate for switches) in the kitchen and bathroom. However, when the cleaning crew comes in. They never talk to my contractor and just called Edna directly to report. And after Edna called me, I asked my contractors to communicate with the girls and if needed they can leave. But they don't speak English and the leader was very rude. She just keep calling Edna and spent her time taking pictures and videos. And finally, we got clear they just need us to move out of the house completely, and we did so. But this process takes more than half an hour, and they charged us for that! My concern will be, 1) during that time, instead of wasting time there, they can at least do some cleaning in other rooms, 4 bedroom, living room, windows, doors, other bathroom. Why they just spent the time calling and complaining and doing nothing, and being very impolite to my guys. 2) they didn't say anything, they don't communicate, which make my contractor very upset and don't know what to do. Also, after they finish everything, I wasn't there to check. But when I got back at home (30 mins after their work), I found they only cleaned the surface of the places. It's still very dirty on the top of the cabinet, where eyes can't see. And we asked for cleaning the windows, and doors. And some of the windows remains dirty without any touch at all. I reported this to Edna, she just tell me we have to hire them again and pay it and get those cleaned. How can I trust the cleaning crew anymore?! I have hired many cleaning teams before, this is definitely the worst experience I had. Last, the price they charged me was more than the time they worked, and that also included the first half hour they used to calling and complaining. I tried to talk to Edna after the cleaning, but refused to take the half hour expense off, and even saying my contractor and I was telling lies. I have to say, this is the worst cleaning I had. Edna is good to talk to but the crew is very slow and have to be told what to do. One of the person in the crew was in the kitchen for 2 hours and at the end of it missed to wipe the oven glass, clean the drawers (drawers were still dirty), some compartments in fridge were still dirty. The lady who cleaned the bathrooms was very good and thorough. The crew is overall nice but 1 room, living room, 2 bathrooms and kitchen took 3 people 2 hours. I was most unhappy with the lady who cleaned the kitchen. I have definitely had better experiences. Update: I received an email from the owner asking me the details of service and asking to resolve without needing to take "this action". I've been using Edna's archive at my home for over a year now and it's been a great experience. Communication has been easy, I get notifications via email and text, and everything has gone without a problem. The service itself is great. My one minor grope is that sometimes things in the house get moved around more than I'd like but it's not a major issue. My house is a little less than 3000 sq ft and there's just dust & shmutz everywhere. I love how my house looks now...the clean look and smell. E & I did an awesome job within a short amount of time. What really mattered a lot to me besides the cleaning itself was that they put everything BACK where it belonged. With previous housecleaning services, I can't tell you how many times I'd have to put my stuff back (ie picture frames, books, knick knacks). The only reason i am giving two stars, is that they seemed to work quite a few hours in the house, at least the manager told me so. But the end result is so mediocre. I contacted her because the good review here, and I really wanted the end result is good, but I am sooooo disappointed. It took them 3 tries, still can not get a clean look on the granite back splash, the door of the fridge is dirty, door handles not polished, tile floor looks just as dull as the day we move out, and shower door with water marks. It seems that they work so randomly, not systematic and efficient. We have ganite counter top and hard wood floor, and tile floors, and they can't get these 3 clean. not to say places underneath the bull nose, baseborad, top of the door, they missed all the details. I paid extra to have her comeback the 3rd time, and again, the grout line is still not cleaned. They did not do the easy ones really nice, and missed a lot of details, and the hard ones, kitchen cabinet, they just can't get it clean, no matter how many tries. The estimation on the phone was 2 ppl, 2-3 hours, I asked for 3 ppl., and i ended up paying twice as what she estimated, and also, i waited 1hr and 30 minutes for the first appointment. I am debating if to hire somebody else to redo the house, because i am really not happy with the end result, it does not shine, as when i have my old house cleaner cleaned it( my old house cleaner is never on time, that is the reason i am trying E&I this time) Now, we rent it out, i still feel not so great to present the new tenants a house could have looked much cleaner and nicer to the touch. read more

E&I did an amazing job on my house. I have a 'touch' of OCD so I look at everything even if I don't want to. Now the breakdown: Service - They picked up every little thing on every surface and dusted and over a week later there is still no dust. I don't know what miracle product they used to keep it off but its working! The stove was...lets say hopeless...due to water boiling over, things being sauteed and whatnot. Under the grates were as clean as my raw hands could get them and there were still several brown/black spots. They somehow got it back to a sparkling white surface that I haven't seen since I moved in two yrs ago! I was in my bathroom doing...bathroom stuff...and even noticed that they cleaned the crown molding along the floors. Who does that?! Edna's girls do! Company - I trust them entirely. Edna is so nice and accommodating. I requested they use one door lock over the other and they complied. Edna is very responsive to emails and makes sure she knows exactly what you want done then communicates that to her team seamlessly. Price - The only reason I'm not giving them 4 stars is because they are a little pricy and they seem to take a while. Granted, I did have them clean the inside/outside of the windows, the inside of the fridge and the oven...but since it was semi clean to begin with (OCD...) I was still surprised it took over 2.5hrs for three girls. When I am not home the time isn't an issue, however, and because I have them come only once a month the price is manageable. All in all I am continuing to use E&I because they did a wonderful job, beyond my standards, and that is what I'm looking for if I am to pay someone to clean my house. I have been using E&I regularly for ~7 months. They send me a calender invite so that I know when they will be in my house. Since they have my door code, I don't have to go home and wait for them. I leave a check in the morning and come home to a clean house later. They are very responsive to any questions or complaints I might have. If I email Edna to point out something that wasn't done as I expected, she emails me back promptly and informs her staff of my concern. The next cleaning is especially great. If I leave out any dirty dishes, the team cleans them and places them on the side counter. I really, REALLY like this because I cook rarely and I don't have much of a system for getting the dishes done in a timely manner. I leave my dog at home some days in a closed room and as far as I can tell, they are mindful of that and know when not to clean certain rooms per my original request. I intend to keep this vender at least as long as I stay in my current apartment. I will definitely hire them for my move-out cleans. read more

I'm so happy with E&I cleaning. I have no idea the minimum time is 1.5 hours when I made the booking. Since I only needed help only with stove and oven, it turned out to be just an one hour work. But Edna made an exception despite the fact it is probably not worth the trouble to come here just for an one hour job. I'm so modified and even offered tips that the crew didn't take. I've been using E&I for quite a while, and have never been disappointed. I had a house sitter that was so impressed she started using them, and from what I understand, has referred them to several of her friends as well. This was either the 3rd or 4th cleaning service I've tried over the last few years. The cleanliness steadily declined with all the others, but I haven't seen any of this with E&I. They do an amazing, thorough job. We have a German Shepherd, and they somehow manage to really clean up all the hair, which I can't even do myself! Edna is also really great about communicating with me if they are going to be late the following morning, etc. I find her to be very professional. Are they absolutely perfect? No, no one is. We used the Amazon Local voucher and were pretty impressed with what they did in an hour so we hired them to deep clean the house (1500 sq ft, 3 bed 2 bath)...it was part of a gift for my wife for her b-day. We were so impressed with Edna's communication and thoroughness that we decided to fit twice a month cleaning into our budget. We have used them now for about 3 months and it just keeps getting better...today we came home and our dishes were emptied from the dishwasher and the small cluster of dishes we had were either hand cleaned or run in the dishwasher; doing dishes is not a part of what they do but they did it today for us and it was this type of service that has had us cut other things out of our budget to continue to afford their service. They were in and out of our condo in less than 1.5 hours, and did an AWESOME job cleaning. They dusted, cleaned, wiped down, and scrubbed every corner of our condo and left is spotless. I contacted them via email and got a response, by Edna, later that night. They were available to come in 2 days based on the window I provided. Unfortunately I missed the email and replied back of they could still make that time slot. They weren't but able to squeeze me in later the week which was great, still within my requested window. They responded timely and responsive thru email. They sent two employees over, they showed ip on time and did a great job. After done they walked me thru at what they did which was great as well! So I had rented my home for 2 years to bunch of bachelors. I was expecting poor maintenance on the home front, but when I came back to see the house after 2 years I could not believe how dirty the house was especially the bathrooms. Called Edna. Boy am I glad I did. My bathrooms look like they have never been used before (yes I am exaggerating a bit, but trust me not by much). They cleaned out the kitchen, closets and everything in between very thoroughly. She didn't clean out some areas which were extremely tedious with no return on investment and she was very clear about it (e.g., windows from outside since it was going to rain, the individual grooves on the closet shelve where clothes would never touch). Edna and her crew do an excellent job at cleaning my home. I used to have E&I clean my one bedroom apartment in Santa Clara. They were always friendly and did a great job and getting my home clean. Recently, I needed a two bedroom condo I was living in to be cleaned. I had a problem with the people who were scheduled and had to send them home on the spot. That left me in a situation where I had to find someone fast. I remembered Edna and what a great job she had done on my apartment. I knew her company had become very busy. I took a chance and gave her a call. Luckily they had a cancellation that day and were able to fit me. Edna and four of her employees came over and did a move-out cleaning on a 1200 sq foot condo in two hours. They did an AWESOME job!! My claim to fame is not as Suzy Homemaker, I hate cleaning. I hired E & I House Cleaning to come out and do some deep cleaning while we prepare our house to sell. A crew of 2 worked for almost 5 hours straight without a break and did a great job. They did my windows inside and out plus dusted off all of my ceiling fans and living room blinds. My house hasn't been this clean in a VERY long time. (Did I mention I'm not a great house cleaner?!) I will definitely use them again unless, of course, I've scared them off. There is my very first time to write a review on Yelp or any negative comment in public. I would not have written such a long feedback if I am not frustrated and felt mistreated and I'd like to offer some advice for Edna and anyone considering using her service. Edna, as you wrote here on Yelp, you want to know our comments such that you can improve your service. I have tried to contact you privately to follow up on our discussion and provide further feedback to you, but unfortunately you did not get back to me for couple weeks now from my latest call. The key problems are * After a few months, Edna no longer honor the agreed scope of service of cleaning the entire indoor area as promised when I started the bi-monthly (once every 2 months) service. Edna claimed that I added to the scope of service when I did not, told me that the sunroom is now excluded from the service when it has always been included in previous appointments. * Edna reduced the amount of man power and total service time of recurring bi-monthly services without informing me ahead of time. * Edna does not inform me of any extra or overtime charge ahead of time until the service is over. While I will always pay the fees as she asked, it is unfair to the customer that there's no warning when extra charges occurred. Furthermore, the customer shouldn't bear the responsibility for paying extra when the crew worked slower than usual to complete the same scope of work as previous appointments * Edna is not always responsive to text messages, phone calls or voice mails. **Attention customers: if you are considering to use their recurring service, I would recommended you to write down a detailed check list of the scope of work that you expect to be included in the appointment, the duration and man power of each appointment, and the frequency of appointments. Hopefully this will document the agreed scope of work, and prevent changing or reducing the level of service over time. We have been using her cleaning service for 2-3 years on by-the-hour appointments, and I need to emphasize here that my house is well maintained and is very clean by most standards to begin with. For example, I always clean the entire kitchen by myself after cooking and there are never any grease stuck on the stovetop or counter, and I vacuum the house often. As such, it really should not be a difficult job for Edna's crew to clean my house, and there has never been a problem with Edna's service until last year when it started to go downhill. Edna, I hope that you understand that you have to fair to your clients and you have to inform your clients of any changes to the terms of service before service has started. Overtime is bad for both customers and for your crew, and I would strongly suggest you to ensure that your customers and crew have agreed to overtime charge before the crew would continue with the overtime. This will avoid unnecessary arguments and minimize risk for customers to refuse to pay. For your team, you should give them refresher training again to maintain your high quality and standard. I wrote this review because I want to let you know that your business practice is very frustrating for customers. I respect your work very much and genuinely do not want to see your business going downhill because you and your crew were capable of providing high quality service. We went through several cleaning services before we hired E&I. I guess you could say I'm a bit of a tough customer. I started using E&I House Cleaning a little over a year ago. I give them a five star rating and a strong recommendation. The owner, Edna, came to evaluate our home and was very specific about what was included (and not included) in a standard cleaning. She asked detailed questions to make sure she understood our needs. After we hired E&I, Edna also came the first day to make sure the team new exactly what our specific requirements were. If I recall correctly, she left while they completed the cleaning and then came back afterwards for a walkthrough with me to make sure everything was up to snuff (and it was). In fact, the cleaning team of 3 ladies ALWAYS did a great job. There was one occasion when a few minor cleaning tasks were overlooked - I texted Edna a few photos and she had the team come out the following day to redo the work. In addition, they remopped our floors on their way out. I felt my concern was handled promptly and professionally. This week we moved out of our house and had a ladies clean it for the new owners. It dawned on me that I had never asked Edna to have the ladies do a deep clean on the inside of the oven. I called Edna in a panic less than 24 hours before we turned the house over to the new owners. Edna sent someone over to take care of it for me, and, the inside of the oven was SPOTLESS before new owners arrived. When I asked where I should send the payment for the extra service, she was it was "on the house". How's that for great service? The team of three cleaners has consistently provided excellent service for a price I find very reasonable. When they're at the house they worked efficiently and quickly. I bought the Living Social for this cleaning service and yesterday they came to clean my house. I had an appointment for 2:00 but at 1:30 they told me they were really far behind. They offered to reschedule or come later...I chose to keep the appt for the same day. They ended up showing up around 5:00, which isn't a huge deal...it actually worked out better for me that they came later. I've got about 1,000 square feet in my house with all tile and wood laminate floors and truth be told, my place was pretty messy. They did a good job of getting most things clean. There's no more dust or dog hair anywhere and the house really does look better. I thought they did a great job on my kitchen countertops, which haven't been this shiny in a while. They also cleaned the baseboards and blinds for me since they were so late. The one thing I wasn't quite so happy about was the shower doors. There's still water spots all over them. I haven't been able to get the spots off either but there's got to be some way to get them looking better. They seemed nice enough and there wasn't much of a sales pitch...they seemed to understand that people who bought the Living Social deal might be looking for a one time cleaning and not for regular service. I'd probably use them on a regular basis if I could afford to have maids come biweekly/monthly, but I don't think I can. read more

Please do not use this cleaning company. I used this company for a few months and things progressively kept getting worse. The very first time they cleaned, they missed the entire kitchen. They came back the next day to do it. I was referred by a friend so I decided to continue using them. I hired them to come twice a week. When I got home, I asked if they cleaned the floors and they said yes. It felt very sticky. I knew there was a hairball below the bathroom sink before I left. It was still there. You can still see dust along the top of the tv. I talked to the owner and told her I don't think her workers cleaned bc it's the same as when I left. She looked at the dust and the mirrors with spots and hairball and said," well, since we come twice a week, your house doesn't need to be retouched in the same spot bc it already looks clean." I said huh? I pay for you to come and clean. That means to clean and redust even though you did it four days ago. I was shocked by her response. I don't know why i stuck by them for so long. They kept getting lazier and lazier. Even though you tell them the specifics of what you want done, Edna will have to be retold again and again and have to be there to tell her workers since none of them speak english. Edna is nice but unprofessional. Seems she just wants to gain more and more clients but no one sticks with her long term. Even my friend quit using her services after 6 months. No reason to hope they will improve. There are plenty of other good, reliable cleaners. read more

Found the E & I House Cleaning deal on Living Social! The deal was sold out at the time when I purchase it. However, Edna was so nice and honored the deal price for me! So we arranged the time for her and her crew to come over my home to clean for the first time. Edna and her crew are very professional + tech savvy! I love the fact that I can contact Edna either through phone or email, very convenient! Regarding the overall house cleaning experience - Since it was their first time to clean my home, they slightly missed couple details (tile/floor in the bath rooms; counter top/cabinet in the kitchen; dusting, etc.). So, I pointed them out to Edna. She quickly took notes and ensured that her crew would pay more attention the next time when they come. Because I liked the way Edna handled the requests properly and professionally, and always tried to work her best to accommodate my schedules/needs, I asked her to come back to clean my home on a regular basis. I've used Edna in the past and wrote a glowing recommendation for her. On Monday, I called and left a voicemail for a kitchen and bathroom cleaning. Never got a call back. What happened? It's a family business. The "E" is for "Edna," and the "I" is for her sister, "Iovanna." They have about 17 employees. They run this business like a tight ship. They charge very reasonable rates. I've been using E & I Cleaning for nearly a year and am very satisfied. Edna is very sweet and easy to deal with. They are punctual and communicate well if there is a change in their schedule. It's hard to find a cleaning service who will change the sheets on the beds and they will do it and do a beautiful job making the beds up. My kitchen always sparkles- even the inside of my toaster oven. They are thorough and open to suggestions. Every once in a while I am surprised by an extra service. My home looks great! Left off one star due to occasionally forgeting to replace the trash bags or miss mopping the bathroom floor. Regardless, I highly recommend them. read more

I hired E&I for a move in/out deep clean this summer. My condo was empty, and the two ladies they sent had 2 hours to do the cleaning. From the initial look it looked like they did a good job (on the surface-mainly the appliances), but after they left, I noticed my newly installed, white base boards were severely scratched from the floor vacuum cleaner they used throughout the house. In addition, there was still mold all over the tub/shower sliding door and the kitchen cabinets were not wiped down, and the kitchen appliances were not deep cleaned. I had to clean my place to get the deep clean they did not do, which is what I didn't want to do in the first place. Made me wonder what they did for two hours in an empty condo? read more

A few things. The ladies were prompt and a crew of three showed up. Good. The bad things-they were done in under 1 hour for one kitchen and 2 baths @ $75. I had to point out that they missed wiping the sill in one bathroom as well as wiping down the fan cover. I had asked for a deep cleaning and she was practically out the door when I pointed out that she had not cleaned the blinds or the kitchen fan. She wiped down the blinds in a very half-a-- way. Additionally, in the hallway outside the bath they did not sweep up the debris. Will not be calling them back.-So, I was contacted by the service after they viewed my post and was offered a 1/2 voucher for my next cleaning. I did use the Amazon Local voucher - 1 hour of cleaning from 3 people for $55 I am moving out of my house and really only purchased the service in order to avoid having to do the deep cleaning in the bathrooms or kitchen. While I purchased the deal, I fully realized that 3 people cannot clean an entire 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in one hour. I suspect the negative reviews on here are mainly from people who purchased the same deal and assumed their entire home could be cleaned in an hour for $55. Anyway, Edna and here team came and did a wonderful job cleaning my kitchen and bathrooms. They are sparkling clean and I'm very satisfied. read more

I absolutely love E & I House Cleaning! Edna and her team are friendly, professional, and do a great job. My husband was very hesitant to have housecleaners come after a bad experience with someone who let his indoor-only housecats out, so this house had not seen a housecleaner in over 10 years. I found it difficult to keep up with the cleaning with 3 cats and an active preschooler, so by the time we called E & I, the house was in bad shape. I had long ago given up on ever getting our toaster oven and cooktop surfaces completely clean, but they got rid of the built up gunk in just one visit! Edna really seems to care about her team, and the pricing is very reasonable. I love how great my house looks and smells after their visit, and even my 4 year old notices the difference and talks about trying to keep the house clean (well, he tries at least for a day...). With E & I, I feel like I can stay on top of the day to day cleaning without being completely overwhelmed by the bigger tasks. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for house cleaners! read more
