This is the way it should be. We should go to pet stores such as Pet Planet to get exotic pets…read more I have been spending months watching videos about jumping spiders and reading about them. I have been wanting one and just looking so far. I was just driving down Decatur when I saw a sign, "Pet Planet." The thought immediately crossed my mind, "Jumping spiders." When I entered, I saw so many things that I liked. I asked about spiders and they had them. He showed me a male and female jumping spider. I had a strong feeling that I was going to get one. I asked about enclosures and I was given a tour of the stuff that I had. I picked up a few things and said, "I want the female." Purchasing the spider was such a heart warming experience. I just lost my dog and this was what I needed. As he was bagging my things up, he asked if I had a name in mind. She was a little bit red, so I said her name was Scarlett. I highly recommend Pet Planet. I think that they are knowledgeable and have what you need for your exotic pet.

Went to Pet Planet 12/24/2025…read more The place is still so special!! The people are amazing and so knowledgeable!! I'll list the species I can remember: Spotted newts, tarantulas, isopods, axolotls, turtles, sulcata tortoises, asian monitor, electric blue day gecko, amazon tree boa, corn snakes, baby hedgehogs, a very sweet opposum (I've secretly named her Sunshine since she doesn't have a name), ferrets, a tenrec, spectacled amazons. There were a lot more animals than this, but I was so taken with the opposum that I spent most of my time with her and the ferrets. I still highly recommend this store for your more exotic pet needs - lizards, ferrets, hedgehogs, frogs, tarantulas, snakes, etc. I hope this place continued to thrive!!! I could spend a whole day in there happily!!

We chose Marco, a Yellow Nape Parrot. I bonded to him right away. Weeks passed before Skye Marsh came to our home for an "inspection." We were required to "apply" by filing out a lengthy and detailed "application." I have been raising and caring for exotic parrots for 30 years, and currently own 8 exotics. After her "inspection," i repeatedly texted, emailed and called Skye Marsh over the next four weeks, expressing our loving desire to adopt "Marco" ($400 fee.) Now then, you can walk into any pet store and buy a bird without jumping through all the hoops that SWEAR requires you to go through. Finally after four weeks I received this text: "I have reviewed your application and discussed the home visit with the Board. As a rescue, we do not condone breeding of any sort, and cannot put a bird in a home where breeding is encouraged (ie caiques). We also have major differences in animal husbandry, diet, and enrichment. Thank you for your interest and time, but at this time we do not feel this would be a good placement for Marco. Sincerely, Skye, SWEAR." Of course, I was upset when I got this text. Told her "you are very judgmental. You have a lot of nerve!" I have raised parrots for 30 years and don't breed my birds. I do have a wooden box for them to sleep in at night, as I had explained to her on her "home visit." This organization is not good. We have a beautiful home to care for parrots, and I am retired so have plenty of time to give my parrots time and attention. Skye Marsh is a stuck up moron who looks for excuses so that you won't be successful at adopting any of her exotics. Better to bypass all her crap and go to a local bird store here in Vegas or elsewhere. What a waste of time!
