I just bought my first bird here. (An 18 Month old yellow crowned Amazon.) Jessie was amazing, super friendly, and even waited a little bit after closing for us so we could get some cash from our bank. She raised him and intentionally didn't give him a name, which is something I haven't seen done as I've been looking for birds. So luckily for us, we were able to pick his name! (We're calling him Mango!) She was sooooooo helpful. I can't stress that enough. She clipped our Mango's wings and trimmed his beak. He was a little angry afterwards, so she even gave us some sunflower seeds and almonds (his favorite) so we could butter him up when we got home. I've been wanting a bird, but scared someone was going to take advantage of me when I went to buy one. Jessie was the direct opposite, and because of that, I will be a customer here for life. I bought a young 8 month old cockatiel from this store a week ago. The lady Jesse sold me a VERY sick cockatiel that I had to take to the vet and spend $500 to get her what she needs to get well. My bird had a horribly bad infection in its crop and stomach. It was covered in mites, very underweight and malnourished, and weak. NEVER buy a bird from this store!! Jesse grabs them by the tail when they try to fly away, she rough handles the birds, she says all of her birds bite or are not for sale, or she throws out some astronomical price, making you think you cant afford her birds. She's rude and pushy, and when the bird tries to fly away, she says it's because of you. My bird is traumatized from the treatment she received there. I'm having to work to regain my birds' trust in humans now. I'm so glad I got my bird when I did, or she might be dead right now. 1 bird saved from this horrible place. This place should SERIOUSLY be shut down! read more

Alright not going to lie. I know almost nothing about birds. I bought our first bird at pet smart. Big mistake. I was going to do better this time. I contacted this store to see if they had baby parakeets. And they did! The lady on the phone was super nice and chatty! I came in 30 minutes later to check them out. I was immediately greeted and shown the parakeets. She was super knowledgeable. And gave me a lot of good tips to take care of the parakeet. Not only that but the parakeets are so tamed and love being held. I was in complete shock compared to how my other one is. Obviously the price is higher than petsmart. But the love and care that went into raising these birds shows! After I paid for him, she let me know if I had any more questions about the bird or taking care of him to call her anytime. I bought myself a little blue parakeet and took him home. He's very observant and fits right in. Overall great experience. You could tell she loves the birds. Loves teaching people on their care. We were looking at macaws around town, when I saw the reviews for this store. So we decided to try it. When we walked into for the birds... We immediately went to the macaws in the background. We then saw Rocco... well he didn't have a name, but when my family immediately bonded with him, I knew we would leave with this amazing macaw. We also ended up getting two parrotlets. My Eclectus has always been groomed with a Dremel & he's 16 years old. He didn't scream. I was advised to buy him a sandy perch & put it where he eats. He took to it admittedly. He's a very happy parrot. The store is fully stocked with everything your parrot needs. I didn't know this store existed until my Husband saw someone looking for a groomer in the Neighborhood app. My usual groomer was out of town and Kiwi's nails were making my arms bleed, they were so sharp & pointy. read more

I've owned and fostered birds for 15 years now. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of bird stores. This store is amazing and the owner and employees clearly care deeply for the birds. Almost anything you could want for your parrot is here, I bought all my supplies for my cockatiel from this shop when I moved to Vegas and gave my bird updated housing. The birds look very healthy (if you do see an unhealthy looking bird it's one that's being boarded instead of owned by the shop!) and the store is very clean. There is little to no smell of "bird" (a sure sign that a place is a disease vector so I'm definitely impressed). She still recognizes me when I come in and asks about me and my bird. She put together my giant cage for my bird when I bought it and always has recommendations for toys, diet, etc. The only reason I am giving this store 4 stars instead of 5 is the hours. It's such a tiny little window to be open including closed on Sundays and I'm often forced to go to another store for my supplies because I work most of the time the store is open. I wish they had better hours so I could give them more of my business, it's the only reason I don't go more often. If they would have better store hours I'd update my review to a 5 in a heartbeat. read more

The owner also gave free food to my wife for the bird to try and see if she likes it. Looking for a bird for my six year old daughter was exhausting. We'd gone to so many different places and it was sad to see the way that so many breeders and store owners handle their animals. I made the trip out to For the Birds because I had read a couple of great reviews, and I'm so glad I did. Jessie was amazing! You could tell she cared a lot about her birds and it was important to her that this bird was getting a good home. Brought my cockatiel in to get his wings clipped and get him a girlfriend. Staff was very friendly and even helped trim his beak a bit so his bites wouldn't hurt as much. Very friendly and helpful with helping pick out a girlfriend for him. I had an amazing experience here and even got some complimentary pellets and seeds and killers when I mentioned he didn't eat too well. My green cheek conure past away and I have a big emptiness in my heart, I been looking for another one to help me heal from my lost and to give all the love I have to offer. I purchased my green cheek at petsmart for $345, at this time petsmart doesn't have any so I been looking all over town. I found "for the birds" store and they don't have green cheeks either but a beautiful cockatoo got my attention, I stared asking questions about the price of the cage (the one I have is small for a cockatoo), food, etc. the lady working at the store made me feel like I couldn't afford a $900 bird and didn't really care about asking me questions or trying to talk to me about the birds. Just because I went in to her store looking for a small bird (their green cheeks are $195) that doesn't mean I can't fall in love with another type of bird. I know how much birds cost and I was willing to pay any price given if I felt like I had the right bird for my family and I. (Other than bad customer service the store is clean and their birds seem to be tame) Their lost... I went to another store and purchased a beautiful $700 bird. read more

For the Birds has a great selection of toys and foods for all types and sizes of birds. They carry some nice cages and supplies. Robin is knowledgeable and helpful. They have foods that you can buy by the pound like soak and cook and seed mixes. The selection and quality is far better than what you would find at Petsmart or Petco. Robin also can clip wings and nails and she can also do the DNA tests that are needed to find out what gender your bird is. I would recommend this place to anyone with a bird. read more

We just took our Granddaughter in to purchase a new "companion" parakeet to replace the one that just recently crossed the rainbow bridge. Grandpa and I had stopped by the day before to check the store out and see what they had. We were really impressed and were told to bring our granddaughter and her current bird in and then we could see if they got along. There were at least 10 different parakeets in the most beautiful colors. The one she picked out and the current bird made friends immediately. Ok maybe I caught this lady in a bad day, but she had an bad attitude!!! My daughter grabbed a bird toy to look at it, instead of asking my daughter to put it back she took it from my daughter and put it away, wow! Totally rude!!! Then she was too busy with another family to pay attention to my questions, even when I stood there patiently waiting. The only time she acknowledged me was when the father of the other family she was helping said, "Oh I think the lady has a question to ask"... Now that just POOR customer service!!! Great place. The grooming is done perfectly: they do a better job of trimming nails and wings than my avian vet and do it without stressing the birds at all. I don't actually like to trim wings but I had a conure flash out my door. I got him back only because he's a little coward out in the big world. I called For the Birds instantly and less than an hour later his wings were clipped and toes plus beak inspected and trimmed. I buy toys and food while I'm there, because -- well-- I'm there. Good selection of all the things you need or want to keep birdies happy. I really recommend this store. read more
