We were looking for a docile, sweet tempered hamster that actually likes to be interacted with and pet. It's a tall order, because hamsters are all different - they have different personalities. Most of the items that I was seeking for my pets were in stock and I was able to purchase them. One item they did not, but they recommended that I check back in a week. Needless to say the customer service was pretty good and the lines at the register moved fast. I'm well aware that Petco always has lots of living creatures in store. But on this particular visit there was a stronger than usual odor that would suggest that staff should conduct a proper cleaning of said creatures living quarters. This location has really gone downhill in the last few years with quality service. I know toxic workplaces exist almost everywhere, but the turnover here seems to average about a year or two. There were 2 narcissist managers, 2 employees who were dating and brought drama to the store, and 2 other employees who left the one to do all of the work and handle all of the employees while they chatted outside. None of them are here anymore. But in the last year or so, this older lady (I'll bet you she's still there) seems to make it her business if you know how to shop smart. And I don't mean for her to get in on the gossip, I mean for her to get in the way of your rights. I didn't catch her name, but it's not worth checking. Grey-haired "karen" will question your morality if you truly know the person you're referencing for employee discounts. I used to work at companies like this, I know how it works. It's not against the law, and asking where we live is sensitive information that is not included when we ring up our accounts. I know how it works, I KNOW nothing has changed. She needs to worry about herself and her job. Interactions with her were intense and unnecessary, the process felt like she was just doing it for the sake it. I don't know what else she could have accomplished with such a rude exchange other than embarrassing the customers. The point of this review is, I'm not the only one she has behaved this way towards. She's not losing anything, but harassed people who had something to gain. Over a discount? Jokes on her, it's the benefit of small furry friends, not rotten human beings who go out of their way to limit others and decide who gets to be privileged. This showed me that she cares more about the living situation of the shoppers than the starved and the strays. I'm not asking for anything out of the ordinary, and if they want a bank notary that proves I have consent from an employee to use their discount, the company should work that out. I have friends and family that works at Petco and other retail stores. And she behaves salty when the person using is not directly from themselves. Just terrible. read more

WARNING: Animal Cruelty Witnessed at Petco (Rainbow & Spring Mountain Location) Today, I witnessed something extremely disturbing at the Petco located at Rainbow and Spring Mountain. A groomer was working on a small, matted Yorkie and was twisting the dog's leg, causing it to yelp in pain. What's worse, I then saw her pick the dog up BY ITS TAIL -- an act that is absolutely inexcusable and cruel. I immediately reported what I saw to the manager on duty, expecting concern and action. Instead, she acted as if she didn't care at all. No urgency. No apology. No promise to check footage. That kind of indifference is just as unacceptable as the abuse itself. To the owner of the small Yorkie that was groomed today (July 16th) -- if your dog was dropped off matted, please demand to see the grooming footage from today. You deserve to know how your pet was treated behind closed doors. I deeply regret not recording the incident, but I was in shock. This behavior should not be tolerated at any grooming facility, let alone a large chain like Petco. I will never bring a pet here and strongly urge others to be cautious before trusting this location with your animals. Our pets are family -- they deserve better. read more

Shopping for pet supplies but to adopt a pet, there is a time limit, you can't spend too much time adoring them, especially when watching the hamsters in action, their cage light had to be turned off in front of us. Next time when the cage lights are turned off, staff needs inform us when the shop is closing. read more

Maybelline was out of her favorite kibble. I had to rush out the day before to catch a flight. Upon my return, I ordered same day delivery. It was 3:30pm. Received an email stating the delivery was delayed and with Thanksgiving the next day, the delivery would be in two days. F. I get confirmation the delivery is on Saturday it's way. I receive a call at 4:47pm from the DoorDash delivery driver. She can't deliver Maybelline's 35 lbs bag of kibble. I tell her to just leave it with the apt concierge. Okay. I travel a lot with my puppy, and when I'm near Petco stores, I book my puppy for a bath and haircut. Normally, I am satisfied with the outcome of my puppy's haircut from Petco. This time, the stylist performed the worst job I've ever seen. The stylist over-shaved my puppy's butt area to her thigh, resulting in an uneven shave, with one leg shaved more than the other. The hair cut was uneven from left to right and from top to bottom. I was so delighted to see her again that I overlooked the messed-up haircut, leading me to generously tip the stylist. AVOID GETTING YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE!! DON'T DO IT! THERE ARE OTHER LOCATIONS!! I really hate writing these reviews because I understand we are in troubled times and when it comes to employment, people are really holding on to their jobs where they can. However, as a person who is very BIG on ACCOUNTABILITY and Customer Service I must adhere to principle. Last week Thursday I brought my dog to this location to get groomed, 2nd time around. I was checked in by a young lady, to which I always give a disclaimer that my dog was bitten on his bottom left ear so please proceed with caution. To which the young lady acknowledged and took note. I will also say that I was well aware that there were matts on my dog's ear, however, the matt was on the front flap side towards the top of the RIGHT- SIDED ear, and he was bitten on the bottom LEFT SIDE of his ear. Ok, so they take him in, and after nickel and diming me (the total cost due to the matting and extra items they all seem to pack on an advertised $86 dollar haircut ended up being billed $130 dollars ...Like for real PETCO? ), they took my dog into the back and I went to pick him up later (his groomers name was CHASITIY) . Ears where shaven off like they told me, and the haircut was nice, but my dog wasn't ok. The next couple of days I had to work, but when I would get home, I would notice he would constantly shake his head, more aggressive than normal. Also, he would hang his head slight to the left side awkwardly. I thought it was his allergies (he gets em really bad) so I thought nothing of it, until I check him out, and it appears that his wound was re-opened and there was crusted blood on top of his little wound where he was bitten. (the photo I have attached). If you look closely at the cut, it looks like a pair of clippers or something went thru the cut, so this tells me my warning wasn't recognized by CHASITIY and she harmed my dog, whether intentional or not. Not only so, but the lady who previous groomed my dog at this location (Autumn) did NOT do this to my animal, neither did his previous groomers who have worked on my dog, and trust me I can tell you he was been more matted than he was when I brought him in. (I have been using PETCO's grooming service for two years in Los Angeles before I moved here to this city and I can promise you BOTH of the groomers who worked on him Christopher or Kiara in Sherman Oaks, CA can re-assure you they have taken the ultimate care of my pup). So I bring him in today ( Monday April 7th ) to talk to management to figure out what's going on. I speak with a woman named Victoria (Groom Manager) and show her the cut/abrasion, and to my dismay, Victoria attempted to justify this cut by saying it was due to his matting, and proceeded to explain how matts causes the blood to rush down to cause this etc...I kept calm although inside I was raging because I know for a fact the matting where nowhere near where he was bitten and it still didn't explained this railroad track looking marks on this cut from his ear. She then suggest I go to VETCO to make an appointment. So, your groomer cuts my dog and you want me to fix it myself and not take accountability? Ok cool, I gave her one more try and asked for a cream or something to help him (he has been stressed out all weekend so he isn't well ), and she takes me to an aisle and leads to me a $20 cream to help heal. Yeah, NO! No accountability was taken, and for the amount of money I paid, my loyalty to this company for 2+ years (as VITAL CARE), you would think she would offer something else ..oh wait! She said after I told her I will not be bringing my dog to that location due to this incident " Ill put this in my notes.." and she walked away. I received more empathy and customer service from GINA, who works in the front because she knows I frequent this location to get his food, and even talked me into getting him groomed in this location, but I was so upset I had to leave to avoid reacting to this Grooming Managers nonchalant behavior. I will be complaining to cooperate about this, and asked that I be removed from Vital Care or any program that I have with them. One thing about me is that I am loyal, however, when you show me your behind, I will simply give you a mirror and let it fall on your face. You won't receive my business again. I went to this location because I had gotten a gift card for my birthday and wanted to use it. I went to another location and didn't see another I wanted and then went to this one. I have a lot of fish tanks so I had gotten a few things for it and some live fish for my community tank. When I went to the register the woman who was checking me out was older and could NOT understand that I was PAYING with the gift card and not buying it. After she finally understood that part, she kept saying it wasn't activated and I needed to call. When I called in they said you don't activate them and was on the phone and telling the lady at the register that she needs to just scan it and she refused and left the register to help someone else while I "figured it out". After about 15 minutes of waiting I finally just left. I felt bad for them having to put the fish back, but it was nuts. I still have the gift card and will try again at another location. read more

AVOID THEIR GROOMING AT ALL COST!!! Their grooming service has gone to absolute crap!!!! Been getting my dog ( 20 lb Korgi-mix) groomed here regularly for 4 years++++. Never an issue. My dog was born with an early closing growth plate, which leaves his leg a little gimpy. 6 months ago, they said he was "refusing" to let them cut the fur on his leg and was he was sensitive. His leg was left bushy, and I cut it at home $65+ later (they also didn't cut his nails on the paw)... A couple months later, asked for a groom/nail clip at the non-Petco place we kenneled him while we were on vacation. No issue. He was a complete "sweetheart" at the other location. This week, we brought him to this location in for a noon appointment on a weekday. Took some time off work to do this and handle some other chores. They said he was "breathing too heavy", and we can try to bring him again later. He was excited/nervous, the same he was every single time we had brought him there before!?!?! Ended up getting his grooming + nails done for $15 cheaper down the street. In and out within an hour. No appointment necessary. Weird/rude people working there. Can't do their basic job well. After many years of not having any type of pet, our children have been waiting ever so patiently for one. We didn't know where to start because we wanted something low maintenance and not so expensive. With the help of Jesus we were able to find our 3 new pets, fishes! Jesus was more than willing to help and guide us. He was patient and never forgot about us even when he was helping 3 other groups. So thank you. We were so indecisive that we didn't realize the time and the store was already about to close. So I just got a dog. Well, the wife got a dog. I didn't have much say in the matter. But what's important is that now I'm stuck walking him and have dedicated my free time in training him. Luckily for me we have this Petco like 2 miles away from home. The store itself is fairly big with tons of dog treats, training tools, dog food and toys. I was able to pick up a bully stick for the dog, a few kong plushies, puppy poop bags for his walk, a leash, a harness, food and water bowl, a dog clicker for training, treats, dog food and even peanut butter spread for his toys. Needless to say, whatever your canine needs are this place can meet them. He's still too young but there are grooming services offered here. Not bad. The employees have always greeted me and been very professional during my visits. And with the whole pandemic thing we've got going they've heightened their cleaning procedures and disinfect their conveyor belts after every guest. Which doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks! I'll be back. I'm sure. This puppy goes through toys and treats faster than I'd like. So keep those shelves stocked for my next visit. Which I'm sure will be soon. read more

My eight-year-old dog has been getting groomed, her whole life, but every time I take her to this location autumn tells me two hours after dropping her off that she can't groom her. This is the third time she's called me two hours later to tell me that my 11 pound dog is being too aggressive towards her which causes her not to be able to groom her. either my dog doesn't like her or she's in the wrong profession take my advice and choose another location. Let me start off by saying that Rebecca and Megan are the worst managers I've ever encountered, Rebecca has an extremely horrible attitude and both are so unprofessional that they give such a bad image of this company. Purchased 2 Conures here. Took them home and one died days after. Came to find out one of the conures they sold me was extremely underweight for his age a clear sign of illness in birds. I bought two because they told me the other one needed a buddy and without his buddy he would just be devastated. I return the dead one and I asked If they could help me get a buddy for the other one because he is very sad and non stop screeching all day . They said they can't and that he doesn't really need a buddy. Uummm what??? Isn't this the reason why they sold me two??? But now that they have to order a new one and replace the dead one (making them loose money) now the other one doesn't need a buddy. Rebecca the one that addressed herself as the "manager" was very rude. Constantly making me feel like if I'm lying to her about all this. I clearly told her. I have records of all this. This bird was sick. She then told me she was not the actual manager that there is someone else named Megan and she is the actual manager of the store. She passed on all the information and said she would give me a call. Never got a call not even out of courtesy. Megan never showed her face to deal with this situation, which makes me think, why would they hire such incompetent people. I was very patient and never ever yelled or made a scene or any of that sort and yet Rebeccas response to my concerns was of annoyance,rudeness, disrespect and no help. Now I'm stuck with a very sad conure that is screeching to this day. And because of them worried about loosing a couple dollars they were unable to help even though they were the ones that sold me a sick conure. We took our dog to petsmart on lake mead in henderson because we moved. & they wouldn't even take scooter due to their lack of knowledge on how to handle dogs. We decided to just drive 35 minutes to this location and go to Lee the lady who usually does our dog and let's just say she never disappoints!
