I returned home with the two filters that was indeed the wrong size. I went back to the store to exchange the size and they told me they don't do any exchanges or refunds. I'm not sure how the heck this hardware store thinks they can stay in business. The cashier basically said your purchased it you own it. I left the unopened filter and I recommend skipping this boneheads. East Hampton Hardware or Riverhead building are the better choice.

When I questioned the woman behind the counter, she was insistent, but relented when I took back my $20 bill and told her I was in the week before and bought the same oil for $12 (that is double the price of what Home Depot charges: $5.99). She also looked it up on the Emporium True Value Hardware website (the other hardware store in town, minutes away on Main Street) and said it was $9.99 there. So I agreed to pay $12 + tax again . If I didn't say anything, they would've charged $22 plus tax. I think they just make up prices when you get to the counter (no price on item). The New York State Attorney General should look into their price gouging.

So when I have a chance I've been driving out east to tour what's in the book. This is the oldest operating family run hardware store on LI. My dad and I met Charlie who was one of the employees featured in the book and he let us take a picture with him for instagram. I bought a Stanley. I was trying so hard not to get one but I finally caved. They had 30 oz ones for $40. I don't know if that was a good price or not but I got a nice green one. I wanted to support the store and wasn't sure what else to get I looked around to see if I could get a Christmas gift for someone on my list but didn't really find anything. This is a nice store to visit worth checking out for the historical factor!
