We came in with a diamond and very little idea of what we wanted. Emily was incredibly patient and helpful when designing our rings. She had us try on several different rings in the shop to get an idea of what we liked and didn't like, then sent sketches to my fiancé of potential ring designs. The final pieces are so beautiful we both can't stop looking at them. She incorporated the diamond perfectly, and the handcarved flowers and plants on my ring are remarkably crafted & incredibly detailed. We felt the rings were very well priced & absolutely worth it. This review is long overdue. Emily makes not only beautiful and unique jewelry, but she is also so nice, friendly, and thoughtful! Between me and my husband, we've now purchased three pieces of jewelry from e. scott originals. The first was my husband's wedding band. He's more of a rugged, outdoorsy-type who has never worn a ring in his life, and she created a stunning silver band that looked like a birch tree. It suits his personality so well and not sure we would have been able to find something more fitting for him anywhere else! I have also purchased two necklaces for myself from Emily, her Beautiful Beast style and her Little Love pendant. Both are beautiful, stylish, and I get tons of compliments on both. Emily is great to work with! We (really she) designed an engagement ring that my now fiance can not stop staring at. I stopped by the shop told her I read some good reviews about her work here on Yelp and that I would love to have a custom made ring for my girlfriend. We scheduled an official brainstorm session and even though I didn't give her much to work with (my dumb male brain and having never designed jewelry) she came up with some sketches from my ideas and I picked what I thought looked best on paper. When the ring was finished I couldn't believe how amazing it looked. Having seen photos of previous custom rings I knew she could do great work but then seeing her finished work in person (that I sort of helped inspire) was incredible. If you are looking for a magical experience for a custom designed engagement ring, Emily Scott is that jeweler. From the moment you enter her whimsical shop in Somerville it is like stepping into Disneyland. Greetings by a Tinkerbell like Boston Terrier named Mabel excitedly fluttering about starts the magic carpet ride and it only gets more awe inspiring from there. I knew I wanted something completely different in rose gold with colored stones and lots of bling. Emily was able to translate my giddy and sometimes undefined desires into a ring that was pure me. How she performed this slight of hand baffles me still. As we were discussing different possibilities that didn't touch my soul, Emily suggested altering the basic design by adding 2 more colored stones in ombre fashion to surround my pink sapphire center stone. A tingle in my heart and click in my brain automatic told me that this was indeed my ring. A ring that far exceeded anything in my head or anything I've seen anywhere else. What a moment! I emphatically said, "Yes to the ring". I received my ring as promised but even more beautiful than I imagined. The transaction from start to finish was delightful because of Emily's honesty, attention to detail and specialized attention. I felt like a princess. After getting my grandmother's engagement ring from my mother (without my knowledge), my fiance worked with Emily to incorporate the original diamond into the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen. They really did a better job imagining the perfect ring for me than I could have done myself. Even after a couple of months, I still catch myself staring at it! I cannot say enough nice things about this beautiful shop or its owners. I had a necklace that was wayyyyyy too long, and as many have had to do before me, I suffered through the sad and terrifying task of finding a jeweler that could shorten it. Laugh if you will, but a year ago I had a bracelet shortened, and now it looks like it was forged during the civil war with a coal fire and a hot spoon. Back to E . Scott Originals. The owners were honest, professional, and amazingly quick. My civil war bracelet took a week. This shortening took exactly 5 minutes, the time it took me to move my illegally parked car, and they did a beautiful job. Customer service, kindness, and professionalism are lost arts, but you would not know that from spending some time in this lovely shop. read more

Emily is super talented, and makes beautiful designs ranging from very classic to more unique/alternative. After that initial meeting we had an awesome time getting to come back in and arrange combinations of metals and stones which Emily had brought into the store based on the discussions of our first meeting. She was also amazing about suggesting things within the budget we had. The end result was something absolutely beautiful and perfect for us. Of course we came back to E Scott for the wedding bands, and had an equally awesome experience. We even changed our wedding time frame pretty dramatically which did not phase Emily at all. She was super helpful, answered any questions I had and gave advice when we needed it. My fiance and I worked with Emily over the course of several months to design our wedding rings. Since I did not have an engagement ring, I wanted to create a wedding ring that was really beautiful and special. We came to Emily with several pictures of what we had in mind. She helped us hone the vision for the ring, and patiently helped us work through many different iterations until we arrived at the final design. We hit a snag towards the end of the process (not Emily's fault), and even though our wedding was a mere few weeks away at that point, Emily guaranteed us that she would do everything in her power to make sure we had a ring for the big day. She followed through, and we could not have been more pleased with the end result. Actually, "pleased" is an understatement... I cannot accurately express how much I LOVE my ring. In fact, I feel like a hypocrite because I used to get annoyed at girls who would get engaged and spend all day staring at their ring, but that is seriously what I have been doing!
