I have had a plumbing issue with my place for a long time. Tree roots. If you ever have to deal with this I really feel for you. You have a few choices; #1 cut them each year and hope it doesn't get better. But you had better keep you lines clean. I had friends staying at my place and they were using flusable wipes that didn't flush. Long story short; I ended up snaking the house and not fixing it. I had to call in the pro's. As much as it hurt my wallet I needed it done right. I got to dig them for not coming to my place on time; the owner was dealing with a issue we talked about later but; if i was a person who was in a hurry I would of went elsewhere. Anyways hours after call. Percy shows up who is a real nice guy; gets to work with the power snake we run water clear it up. Then he comes out with the camera so check my lines; this is what I wanted to do in the 1st place. I have 6 feet of lines where roots are coming though. This is very bad as it requires the pipes to be replaced and this isn't cheap at all. Percy did quote me for doing everything It was fair for the amount of work. I honest don't know what I'm going to do; it's so much money to fix this issue if anyone has any input send me a message let me know E-Z plumbing did the work and did it well; I ended up paying cash and he was fair about labor with me; Its no something you want to call a plumber but it was good my issue was fixed correctly now just need to figure out my bigger issue. read more

Yelp should allow NO stars because that is what this company deserves. I have no idea how they manage a 4.5 star rating. In particular, a person named Percy who works there is not to be trusted. I called them out for a slow drain, which I assumed to be a clog. This was late at night, close to midnight but I decided to do it because they said the cost then or the next day during business hours would be the same. Mind you, I had recently done a lateral replacement and had a second cleanout out in and I did mention this to Percy when he arrived. He probably took advantage of that info to apply his scare tactics. When he put the snake in at my new cleanout to clear the clog he said there was a huge offset in the connection from the lateral to my home's pipe and his snake could not get in. He made a dramatic show on shoving the snake in pretty aggressively to make his point. He then took out the sewage camera to show me this offset. As I mentioned, this was late at night and his camera showed a pretty grainy image but I did not know any better. He then proceeded to run the camera across more of my home's pipes from the other older cleanout I had. He also ran his snake through this older cleanout and the clog was cleared and the slow drain issue was fixed. It was at this point that he delivered the verdict: offset needed to be repaired for $500, entire home's piping needs to be replaced for $5k! I said no thanks, I will think about it and paid $250 for the clog work. I am no plumbing expert, but I am no fool either. I went to get several other opinions on both issues and all came back with the same conclusion: Percy is a salesman and that work is not needed. In fact, my home's pipes are actually fairly new so my spidey senses were already tingling when he told me all my piping needed replacement. There is a small section of my home where there is older piping, but the majority is new and good. Apparently, Percy has quite the reputation in the plumbing trade. People as far as San Jose know of him and warned me about him. Stay away and hold on to your money. As I mentioned, I have no idea how they have a 4.5 star rating. Maybe they pick and choose their targets to victimize. Whatever it is, I would not take that gamble with this company. Maybe he figured since I just did a $5k lateral replacement, I could afford another $5k in plumbing work. read more

UPDATE AGAIN, This will be my last time updating this review. I wasn't being rude to them, I said I want to cancel the appointment after they called me, Is that being rude? One more thing is, they deleted the original comment of my review after I post the first UPDATE below. My original review didn't include the three photos, so in their initial comment they said I have never contacted them, and I left fake review on their page and they are going to use legal weapon against me. But unfortunately I didn't take screenshot of their rude original comment. BE AWEAR, you would like to keep every record possible if you will deal with them. They deleted their initial comment after my UPDATE review with those three photos attached, because they know I have proof of our phone call conversations, messages and email I sent to them. They cannot simply say I'm lying. So they post this new comment here. I called them, then sent email to them , and sent text message to them to confirm the appointment. If that's not enough, I don't know what else I could do. Particularly when there's city engineer/ inspector involved, they should show a little bit more respect for other's time and efforts. I end up working with another local sewer company, which is great, showed up on time, and bring everything needed for the specific inspection, and the city engineer/ inspector found it easy and pleasant to work with too. I sincerely shared my personal experience here. I don't want to damage their reputation if they provide reasonable and professional service. Look at the other "bad" reviews too. All I want to say is this bad experience did happen to me, and the way they handle it afterwards is not professional, respectful nor honest too. UPDTAE, I can't believe what happened just now. I called them several times and sent them several text messages for the appointment this morning, and they never got back to me. And as soon as I left this review, they called and THREATENED me. And I have to spend more time to explain. Since they denied talking to me ever. I'm attaching screenshots of the text massage, phone call history and email confirmation here. Like I said earlier, text messages and email was sent by me after I talked to them over the phone. They never mentioned I shall expect a confirmation number BTW. Original: I called last Friday to book a appointment. And we both agreed on the appointment verbally over the phone. However they didn't show up this morning, and didn't answer several of my phone calls or text messages. A guy picked up the phone which number is listed on yelp. I told him my issue about laundry and toilet water overflowing to my tub. He said he can get it done for about $250. Awesome! He said he can come by around 6PM. I gave him my info and this company is "text" friendly. They...are not. I texted him my address and I wanted to call him to confirm if he got my text. 5 calls and 3 more text later. No response. This was the good part. I chose EZ Leak Detection because of their ratings here on Yelp. BIG MISTAKE!!! I initially called for an estimate on Friday, July 10th and was told sure we will be there in 1-2 hours. I sent them my tenants address to go and do the estimate... this was around 11 am. At 1:45 pm I texted to see if they were still coming. The stated that they were still on another job (Note: They hadn't called or text to say they'd be late). I texted again at 5:15 pm because they were still not there and again they stated "we are coming." At 7 pm I checked with my tenant to see if they had come and they had not... I finally get a text with photos and an estimate for the work after 9 pm. I told them I was not happy with their lack of communication. They apologized for the delay but assured they would be prompt and would do a great job. I went ahead and scheduled the repairs for the following Wednesday the 15th. They said that they could be there around 9 am. I checked with my tenant later that day to see if they had completed the work and was informed that they had never showed up. At this point I was looking for another company to do the work. I get a text on Thursday the 16th at 3:37 pm saying that they would like to schedule an appointment for the weekend. I called them to inform them that I do not want to reschedule because this is the second time that they failed to communicate properly. They apologized profusely for the miscommunication and pleaded I give them another chance. They then offered to take $300 of the bill. They said that they wanted a chance to make things right.They promised that I'd be very happy with their work. I said that I'd give them one more chance so I rescheduled for Sunday the 19th. They were going to be there between 9 am and 11 am. I texted them on Saturday evening to confirm the appointment. They responded stating that they would be there between 9 am - 11 am. I texted them on Sunday morning at 9:44 am asking them to let me know when they arrived. I did not hear from them. I then get a text at 1:20 pm saying that they are getting more parts (implying that they had already been to the property). I texted them back stating that they were supposed to be there between 9 am - 11 am. They said that they had been there but they needed more parts. I get a text from my tenant at 3:38 pm informing me that they had just called him saying they were at the house, he was not at home at this point... He also said that they had not been there that morning. I immediately called EZ Leak and spoke to a woman who said she was the manager. I told her that I was dissatisfied with their lack of professionalism. I explained that they were supposed to be there between 9-11 am and here it is after 3 pm. She began apologizing again saying how sorry she is for the miscommunication. She assured me that they'd be able to complete the work today and would do a good job. I told her that my tenant had already left and at this point and I do not want them to do the service because they are unreliable. She offered to take another $100 of the bill if we give them a chance to complete the service. I declined... I told her they had been given more than enough chances to honor their word and that she should cancel the service request. I then get another text from them at 4:39 pm stating that they had contacted my tenant and are waiting for him to reply. I replied back telling them to cancel the service request because I was going to go with another company. At 4:51 pm they reply back with multiple text stating they apologize and they will do there best to satisfy me. They say, "Please give us a chance and allow us to finish..." I don't respond. At 6:13 pm I get another message asking if I still want them to contact my tenant and complete the work? I reply back again, "No! I'm going to have another company do the work." I also inform my tenant not to respond to them because we are going with another company. I get another text message from them at 6:35 pm apologizing profusely for the inconvenience. They say that they already bought parts and want to finish this work today. I inform them that my tenant is gone and state again that we do not want them to do the service. I get another text message at 7:18 pm saying that it's ok that my tenant is not home, they can reschedule. I reply back reiterating that we will not reschedule with them... we are going with another company. They finally reply back at 7:40 pm saying, "Thank you for your reply." At this point I think they finally got the message that we are not going to use their service. But, I get a text message at 8:21 pm saying that the tech already finished the work. They were not authorized to do any work. They went back to the house after I blatantly told them that I would not be using their services. My tenants friend was there and unknowlngly let them in. I had an irrigation water leak underground and most likely under the concrete. The EZ guys used their sonic detection gear to locate the leak, then they removed enough concrete to access the area. I was pleased to see that they replaced the galvanized pipe that failed with copper pipe, then they closed up the hole and poured new concrete...all in 4 hours. Great job! read more

These guys installed a new hot water heater back in 2010 and has worked pretty flawlessly until tonight we were getting cold showers. Their sticker on the water heater said they provided 24/7 service so we called and Percy came out within an hour. He was able to get the pilot light going (when we were unsuccessful) and talked about what to watch for as it's unclear whether the storm did some of this damage or whether we may need a new water heater altogether. He just left and was here for a good 30-45 minutes but didn't charge us because he wasn't sure whether this problem would persist (there was outside condensation but there was also a dripping heard inside, so he told us to watch it for now). If we do need a new water heater he already quoted us a price with parts and labor and it is very reasonable and we will be using this company most definitely. For me, his responsiveness, quality of work over these past years and the personable nature he provided as well as overall customer service and pricing is a minimum five stars in my book. I thought I was going to have to take the kids to my parents house ten minutes away for a hot shower and now I don't. I wish 10+ stars was an option. Everybody hopes for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, good willed, professional contractor whether it's plumbing or other trade. EZ plumbing and Percy is all that and more. Our situation: plumbing stoppage (clog) for which our home warranty sent out AJ Bono (horrible). They told us we had a 6000$+ issue and he told us they cleared the clog but it would only last 2 weeks so we needed to do the big replacement ASAP. WELL... we were so scared we called around same day for 2nd opinion. EZ Plumbing came thru, showed us on camera that we actually had NO big issue at all and that the first plumber just didn't clear the clog all the way. EZ plumbing cleared it, educated us on some things, and advised us on the real condition of our main line based on the proof shown on camera/scope. EZ plumbing just saved us out of a 6000$+ con job! And now they have a customer in us for life. In fact I plan to cancel my home warranty with American home shield due to the faulty service ppl they have been sending. I'd rather have the option to choose who I want directly and my choice will now always be EZ plumbing. Thank you guys for the great service and help out of a very stressful situation. Percy and his crew (Jorge and Martin) to the rescue... My water heater in the outside closet took a turn for the worse. The leak had been slowly happening unknown to me and my spouse. We're not sure how long it had been leaking but I came home to bubbled laminate in the downstairs bedroom. Walking outside to the backyard to look at water heater closet only confirmed my fears. I looked at both Craigslist and went through a few reviews and found E-Z Plumbing Company. I decided to go to Yelp and find one there. Lo and behold -- E-Z Plumbing showed up again. Fate I think.... So the phone call to E-Z Plumbing was immediate and within 2 rings Percy picks up the call. Granted it is 5PM I was not expecting anybody to pick up but Percy did. After a few minutes of chatting with Percy he told me he would stop by within 15-30 minutes as he was going to another job and my address would be on the way. Percy showed up right on time. After inspecting the outside puddle and the outside room he pretty much determined there was a leak. Probably looked at the steady drip / stream of water coming out of the water heater and seeing the entire cement slab inside and out wet. Good clue I think. Percy said he would come back either tonight or in the AM to replace it. It was determined that Percy would make it back in the AM. Now here is where it gets good. The closet is double doored and houses both the water heater and the HVAC unit. The space to take out the water heater through the double doors and the HVAC unit was smaller than width of the water heater. Percy and his crew (Jorge and Martin) show up with the new water heater and begin to try to get the old water heater out. They had to remove the left side door and the door jamb. Even with those pieces removed, they still had to take a good few swings on the old water heater to flatten it out so it could fit through the opening. So...about 2-3 hours later, a lot of elbow grease and some good work, the water heater was in, strapped and heating up water. The door jamb and the door were re-installed and we were back again to having a good hot bath and other hot water activities. Percy was super -- explained pretty much everything going on. Jorge and Martin were awesome as they worked through everything and answered questions that I had. All 3 were smiles and super to have over working on the water heater. The price of the job was in line with about 2 other contractors we called if anybody is wondering. I have kept their number, their card and have added them to my list of preferred contractors to refer to any and all friends and family. I'll be calling Percy again for other plumbing contract work as needed. read more

I spoke with the receptionist when I called and she gave me timeframes one of their guys could come out and take a look at my house -- I told her I get off at 4 so she scheduled between 4 to 5 pm. I called to follow up and confirm and I was told it would be around 5 to 6 (misunderstanding) - because Percy (who I believe is a Plumbing Business Angel) - had someone in my driveway in about 25 minutes. The reason for the call? The water heater had went out - completely - no hot water - no water pressure -- just started leaking and then it was that - Ygnacio and Enrique came and looked at it quoted me $950 and requested half down so they could get the water heater. Luckily - I had cash on me. Not half only $300 and I had to run to the bank to get the rest...fortunate it was down the street. By the time they arrived and by the time they were completely finished installing the water heater -- took about an hour and 15 minutes!! QUALITY WORK! My fiance and I were EXTREMELY impressed. We now have an Energy Star water heater which we can get PG&E lowered and a discount and even better...HOT WATER! Thank you E-Z Plumbing for your fast and efficient service. read more

When Ignacio told me he couldn't clear the clog with the snake($125), i was more disappointed. He said he'll need to come back with a pressure washer ($250) will be back by 2-3pm. Grr.. Why the 5 stars? It's all becuz of Percy. He came this afternoon and was able to clear the clog with the snake. He had to clean it with the pressure washer becuz the pipe is old n filled with grease(prolly cuz I cleaned our BBQ grill). He spent literally 2 hrs here making sure everything was working n put back in place before he left. I was super happy with his workmanship n the customer service he provided. Total bill was 195 including the yelp + civil servant discounts. Not too bad. Percy came out to do a pipe inspection when we purchased our home a few years ago. Fast forward a few years, we come home one Saturday afternoon to find our garage flooded because our water heater was leaking (this is also when I cussed being a homeowner, but that is another story for another day). We call Percy and he ws headed to another job but will call me when he's done. He stayed true to his word and arrived at our house by 5pm. He stayed until 9pm, going back and forth (2 times) to Home Depot with my husband to purchase a new water heater. I see a few negative reviews attributed to his lack of response, but if you take time to read all the positive reviews, nothing beats Percy's quality of work and honesty. I woke up Sunday morning to find a massive water leak from the bathroom sink, it was leaking down to the laundry room below and found water damage on the laundry room ceiling located beneath the bathroom sink and a pile of water on the concrete floor. I called E-Z Plumbing for emergency service and Ignacio from E-Z plumbing came right away and he identified the issue and showed me exactly what was causing this (it was a failed valve) and explained about the replacement parts which will prevent this type of failure from happening in the future, and promptly fixed the issue. By the way the failed valve was installed by different contractor in the past not related to E-Z plumbing and they didn't even come to take a look... Big thanks to Ignacio for coming by and fixing the issue so quickly even on Sunday morning for very reasonable price!!! I had a gas leak in my house. PG&E shut off the gas. Found E-Z Plumbing on the net and Percy responded right away to my call. He came out, reviewed the options with me and had a quote to me that night (sending it at 3:30AM no less). He was very responsive, provided what I think was a reasonable cost for re-piping the gas line. His team showed up when they said they would, did minimal impact to the walls throughout the house. They kept everything very clean, tarped and covered areas they were working in. My experience was great. They took care of the permits and inspections and had my service back on as soon as could be possible. Great job! read more

All the reviews that describe how knowledgeable and talented Percy and crew are are true. I've hired them twice now: the first time for some rough-in work totaling $750, the second time to install valves and drain hookups under the kitchen sink, which was $250. Initially, I was charged $450 for the second job. When I complained to Percy, he rectified the situation. Im not sure how the original charge for $150 in parts and an hour of labor amounted to the $450 figure, but Percy made it right, and that's what counts. He even snaked out my drain and checked the dishwasher hookups for free. He sat through the entire cycle until it drained. Great guy! read more

Okay, I tried my best to avoid calling a plumber. I did all the basics to unclog my sink. I used drano, vinegar & baking soda, plunged the sink, removed the P-trap, and ran my hose up my home's side drain. Damn, nothing worked. I guess, I have to call a plumber. So, as I was yelping, I found this place. The star rating was very good and they're based out of Hayward. So I called them up, and they said they'll call me back in an hour. Two hours pass, so, I guess I'll call again. Instead of getting it done that day, I make an appointment for the next day. Set, from 9-10. 10:30. Nothing. I call, the guy is coming from Richmond, he'll be here soon. So far in the story, it sound kind of horrible and it has the build up for a bad rating, but no. When the guy arrives, he's very apologetic and explains thoroughly why he's late. Damn, he went to Cupertino to Richmond, and now to Union City. The guy fully explained what he was doing, even though I know he was snaking it. He wore his shoe covers within the house. The guy, even snaked it three times to ensure there was no further problems. We talked a bit, cool guy. He even discounted his service. Since they were late, I cant mark them down as anything exceptional, but I can't rate them as horrible.
