We stopped in on our way through town. This was our second experience. My hubby had the roast beef special which was huge! He loved it and couldn't come Close to finishing it. I had a French dip sandwich on a gluten free bun. It was so nice to enjoy a sandwich since most restaurants don't have gf buns. It was so good and the sweet potato fries were excellent. I've read alot of the negative reviews and can't believe that they're not posting with ulterior motives in mind. One was clearly lying since what they claimed to have ordered isn't even served here. I'm constantly amazed at the quality of the food here. Everything comes out better each time we try it. Family own and operated and they treat their customers special. So far we only found one thing we didn't like and after talking to the owners they changed the provider. Now that item is 10 times better than it was. We just finished 5 days in the Eagle Cap Wilderness and we were starving. We went through Baker City on the way home and were starving. Our plan was to go eat at the very famous local brewery, however it turned out they're closed on Sundays. We scrambled to find a new place and the Eagle Cap Grill seemed like quite the auspicious name so we headed there. We are not disappointed in the least bit. First off, all their beers on tap were from the before mentioned famous brewery so that worked out quite well. The food was quite excellent as well and very very reasonably priced given restaurant prices these days. I got the brisket burger and upgraded to tots and was very satisfied by both the taste and volume. The burger was delicious and the tots were golden and crispy. Do yourself a favor and get a side of their house made blue cheese dressed. It is delicious. The staff was also excellent and the clientele looked liked repeat regulars which is always a good sign. read more

Was super pumped to try this place based on reviews. Unfortunately it was disappointing. Had the rib-eye which was subpar at best. Super thin, overly fatty and overly done. Ordered medium rare. Was more like well done. Probably not the cook's fault since it was such a thin cut- maybe three-quarter inch at best. Also had the ribs with BBQ sauce which were very good. The French fries were outstanding. Salad is clearly not their thing since it was a bagged lettuce and carrot mix Service was outstanding leading to the 3 star. Probably won't return but if I did, I'd skip the steak and get the ribs. read more

Fast service, friendly staff. It was busy when we arrived on a Tuesday in January, it's obviously popular with the locals. They had a good selection of diner food; don't get me wrong, it's better than diner food, with interesting takes on hamburgers, wraps, etc. I wanted to try more than one thing. I went with the Bourbon Bacon Burger and my wife had a Cobb salad. The burger was good but the chicken in the Cobb salad was overcooked so only 4 stars. I'd definitely go back. read more

We were on a road trip and stayed in Baker City one night along the way. Just wanted a decent bite to eat without spending too much and found the Eagle Cap Grill. Can't say enough about this place! Good service, clean place, and absolutely GREAT food! I had a steak, and my wife had a steak salad. Both were excellent. We both had a Moscow Mule (for only $6 a piece), and they were really good too. Sometimes, it's necessary to step back and appreciate how Yelp has opened so many doors that otherwise would remain closed. To find a breakfast place somewhere off a remote highway used to be a shot in the dark. With a few taps, the gf and I found ourselves meandering through the town of Baker city, looking for the Eagle cap. A quaint neighborhood joint is what we found and we were both excited to find it. Often, these little spots have the best food. The menu is simple and straight forward. I ordered the chicken fried steak and the gf got the steak and eggs. The coffee left much to be desired. But it does the job. My cfs was massive compared to the little sirloin served to my gf. Both plates tasted great. The problem was the cook of both steaks. My gf had ordered medium and received well-done. My chicken fried steak was delicious. It would have been moreso, had it not been overcooked to hell. It was super crisp and tasted good. I felt a little cheated because it would have been phenomenal had it just been pulled a fewvkinites sooner. The prices are amazing and the hash brows were perfect. Just backbone on those steaks!! Went here on a whim on our way to Union Creek Campground. My husband and I had the flat iron steak special, 2 for $28. The salad was fresh and the rolls were soft and warm. The steak was one of the best we had had in a while. My husbands eyes were literally rolling back in his head he loved the steak so much! I've heard that it's the details that make or break a dining experience. Is the waitress attentive but without hovering? Is the seat comfortable but not sagging? Is the food hot but not burn your tongue off hot? In the case of Eagle Cap Grill, some of the elements of the restaurant are nice but the details are lacking a cohesive groove perhaps. Most of the seating is booth style which is nice for a bit more intimate setting but when I attempted to scoot down what I assumed was a bench I nearly fell flat on my bottom because to my surprise, they have stuck two chairs on either side of the booths. That struck me as being odd. There are some nice components. Their huckleberry vinaigrette salad dressing was a pleasant surprise. And it was a nice touch that they delivered rolls with salads though the rolls were cold and questionably store bought. Overall, I have to give them a decent report. Fettuccini is fettuccine after all. And their menu offerings were refreshingly varied. read more

On the way home from Washington, needed a break and decided on Eagle Cap Grill! Lucky us! Greeted at the entrance of this restaurant and knew we had found a little gem in Baker City! Everyone is so nice, the restaurant and the restrooms are very clean. My husband and I both had the flank steak and fully loaded potato. He had a house salad and I had a blue cheese wedge salad. Unfortunately we didn't take any pictures of our food because 1. We were starving and 2. Due to COVID we had to eat in our car. We were traveling to Bakers City to see a puppy and wanted some lunch. This place had good reviews and hey burgers sounded delicious when the belly is empty. Their burgers did not disappoint. I got a bacon cheeseburger and added mushrooms with Buffalo chips as my side and wow just yum! My boyfriend got the bourbon bacon burger with onion rings and he was just as pleased.
