BUYER BEWARE!!! DO NOT HIRE THEM!! They said I need a new central air system, it is broken, beyond repair, etc. and wanted to charge $11,0000 to install new condenser, coil, and furnace - I had someone else come out and he fixed my old system in 20 minutes for $180. All he did was connect a new a/c disconnect box!!! Also - 2 of my mini splits weren't cooling enough, Earl said to pay $2,800 for repair or "just buy new ones" since mine are "cheap imports, no parts are available here." He also told the Home Warranty that it is leaking because a dog chewed the lines outside. We do not have a dog. AGAIN, our other guy came in, unclogged the filters FOR FREE (apparently we can do that ourselves in the future) and said no dog or rat would chew through copper lines, it is complete BS but they said that because they knew the Home Warranty company will decline all requests with pet damage. read more

You showed up at my house for Home Warranty service on an evaporated cooler. Told me only one panel was getting water and that because somebody else had worked on it. You wouldn't cover it with the Home Warranty and then try to gouge me for the repair. Well, I went up there. The only problem was the last person who serviced the cooler didn't put the panels in right and the water wasn't feeding into them. You said it was something else and tried to charge me up to $300 for $15 part that it didn't even need. Be careful of Earls. They will try to rip you off. read more

They found out everything was working properly except one of my thermostat was not programmed properly. Cesar was a very professional and courteous serviceman. Arrived as expected and called to inform that he would arrive within 10 minutes. Advised what he was doing as he proceeded through the tune-up and commented on the condition of our roof unit. When he came into the house to change the filter my service dog who is tolerable of men in the house, I held onto her, her prior shelter history makes her leery. But she accepted him very well, which is to his credit. His friendly demeanor gets credit for that. read more

Expensive and wouldn't make payment arrangements. They didn't properly diagnose the real problem with my A/C, which needed replacement.

The home warranty company chose Earl's for us Long story short they were going to gouge us to the tune of approximately $2200. I called the home warranty and asked for a second opinion of someone with a higher star rating. Another company came out and replaced the same part suggested by Earl's for the cost of our $125 home warranty deductible. The ac is now working great! read more

We recently had flooring installed in our home, which naturally generated a lot of dust, 99.9% of which went straight up to our filters. Even worse, we had the work done while we were out of town so while our HVAC system went into overdrive trying to compensate, there was no one to clean our A/C units. So inevitably on one fine 120° Cat City day our A/C was cooling at a trickle. The ambient temperature inside the house was 97° and misery was loving our company. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We'd heard good things about Earl's and they immediately justified their reputation by squeezing us in on short notice, literally and mercifully within hours of us calling on the same day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tony was our A/C professional and he was friendly and outgoing. He inspected our vents and our system and after a very thorough cleaning and repositioning he had our home cool again within an hour. I have to give Earl's a great review. With many bad reviews, I note the following based on negative responses. 1. No HVAC company can guarantee a part will be available immediately. 2. The speed at which a home warranty claim is submitted by an HVAC company can vary (timeliness of claim submission may be an issue at Earl's). 3. Unless the technician is incompetent or dishonest, they are not at fault when a part is unavailable or a claim isn't filed in a timely manner. Now for the review: - I had a spring tune-up by another HVAC company and my AC suddenly stopped working afterward. The technicians proved to be incompetent or dishonest with their findings or lack thereof. - I contacted another HVAC company (I had used in the past) to diagnose the issue which was determined to be low freon. My premium home warranty covers freon without submitting a claim so I contacted First American Home Warranty. (Doing so, saved me $400.) - First American sent out Earl's HVAC. I read the reviews on Yelp and was concerned by the low rating. However, the technicians (Axel and another) arrived on time, confirmed the freon was low, checked and confirmed there were no system leaks, then re-filled the freon. Axel was informative and friendly as was the other technician. Thanks to Earl's for being honest and timely! read more

Then, I find out why.... He wrote the report to AHS as a "non accessible" line set that needs to be replaced, even though the entire thing is accessible. All so that they can charge more for the work to me directly. Our experience with Earl's Air Conditioning was not as professional and detail oriented as I would have expected for a major AC and ductwork replacement. They left our house, in particular the walls and floors, covered by insulation dust and did not do a thorough job of cleaning up construction related materials. The work was done in their allotted time line and everything was properly installed. I have First American new home warranty and I requested an air conditioning check up on one of 3 air conditioners at my house. They first contracted me with Anthem air who never called me for 10 days. I called new home warranty and they contracted Earls to come out instead. My home warranty American Home Shield assigned Earls Air Conditioning to my claim. On 7/17/23 Technician came out. The Unit was repaired 8/9/23. BTW 115 plus in Cathedral City. There appeared to be a disconnect between AHS and Earl's regarding the ordering of the Part and its availability. The Earls Staff is very Nice and professional. Especially Maria, who does/did her best and was concerned with my plight. Eventually the Unit was repaired. The AHS employs out of country customer service . I truly can's say where the breakdown of parts ordering occurred. In any event, my AC has never worked better. Earls did a in-depth evaluation and I believe repaired the problem. I hv had other AC companies almost every summer come out. The always say the same. Low Freon . This is a late review on services that I had received from this company over a month ago. My wife and I had came home when it was the week of 120's to find our AC was making a loud screeching and knocking noise. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I contacted Earls AC and they were able to get a tech out the same day within the hour I had called.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was happily greeted by Axel and his co worker Adrian who tested, diagnosed and fixed the issue we were having within a half hour. Upon fixing the issue they stayed on site to make sure the issue was 100 percent resolved, tested the pressure of my unit and even replaced my filter even though I had just done it a few weeks ago. To my surprise it was already dirty which is to be expected here in the desert. I gave myself a rule of thumb, during summer months, change the filter once a month to keep your unit working smooth and the air smelling fresh! I requested HVAC service for my AC not cooling 8/18 through AHS my home warranty company. Was told someone couldn't come out until 8/22. Meanwhile I scrambled to get another provider out as a back up because we have a special needs child at home who needs the house at a certain temp due to feeding tube and formula. I contacted Earl's Monday 8/21 and told them they did not need to come out as we had the issue fixed. They relayed that I wouldn't be charged and they'd cancel the ticket as I couldn't cancel directly on AHS for some reason. I have called several times to AHS who is saying someone from Earls showed up but I told them not to! No signed páper work as no work done. They took advantage of me needing to cancel and want to be paid for no work done and I did call and cancel the day prior. read more

The fact that they are only authorized to provide verbal estimates and can't send a written one speaks volumes about the shady nature of their operation. August 5th, 2024 This was a horrific experience with Earl's Air Conditioning service. The only great thing about it was the technician (Justin) on the field that was super helpful, explained everything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The rest was horrid, was told that the company would email us an itemized receipt that would be forwarded to the warranty company. They never did[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Followed up with the warranty company, they said that I had to pay $2900.00 due to code violations, permits and freon that they did not cover. $1500.00 in freon alone and the rest in other fees warranty did not cover. They made it sound like we about to start building a new home, code violations, and permits fees, we just bought the house less than a month ago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called the office, to get an itemized list of charges they (Earl's) submitted to the insurance, Maria said they could not send it to me but that she could read it to me instead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I assume Maria works the front desk. At this point we both became upset, as I wanted to know what was sent and Maria did not want to send it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What kind of business does not let their customers know what they are submitting on their behalf.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When asked to talk to the supervisor (Torrey Tyler). Maria said she couldn't give me his number, I gave her mine and she said she did not know when he would be able to call me. Never received the call or the itemized expenses[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I've seen all of the reviews about earls and I noticed any bad ones involved AHS Warranty. My story was right in line with those. Our first experience was a technician, Justin. Super nice guy. He came out and said we had a blown motor and wheel (I just purchased the house and the unit was 30 years old). He left and said he needed to get the part from a warehouse. After waiting a while I texted and he said the part needed to be ordered. I called earls and they had to get authorization for a part from ahs. I called ahs and the call taker from the phillipines said it was 7:30 here. It was actually 4:30 and they called earls and now it is a waiting game. It is 106 outside and American Home Shield warranty did not have a policy for any type of contingencies or emergencies such as extreme heat. What I realized was Earls was just a victim of AHS policy. Torrey Tyler from Earls called me and he really listened. I explained the situation and he was able to schedule a last second installation for a new AC unit at a reasonable price. He personally came out to check on my place. His crew was fast, efficient, and had great customer service. It is my job now to battle with AHS, but Earls came through in a big way. They were assigned by my home warranty (First American) and having had bad experiences with other vendors, I was hopeful but wary. Had Earls come out from my warranty company. They said I need a part and it would take 3 weeks. I called last Friday to find out status. Was told by Maria she would call me Monday. I called them again on Monday and Maria had to check since she forgot. I was then told the part would now take 42 weeks, YES 42 WEEKS... What a joke. I called warranty company and apparently Earl's never even put in a work order or follow up with Warranty company. 110 Heat and Earl's is suppose to be an Air Conditioning company. My 44 year old Air Conditioner finally died. My Home Warranty first sent out a company (who I will not name) and the tech was caught in a lie when diagnosing the problem. The Home Warranty then sent out Earl's Air Conditioning - the technician was Andrew. He was professional, knowledgeable, and explained what needed to be done. Earl's got a permit from Palm Desert, got permission from my HOA and then removed the dinosaur unit with crane and installed a brand new unit. Home shield had this company come out and check our AC. He checked it and said he would contact home shield, next thing you know he told them our AC was mis-used so they denied our claim. We live in an area that's always windy and sandy. He left us scrambling to find someone else and pay everything out of pocket because our claim was denied thanks to him. I have a condo listed, and Earls was called out for the inspection. System was filthy thanks to the hurricane, and so a repair was requested. Andrew and Axel came out, and did a stellar job cleaning the unit and getting it up to par yesterday, and suggested an additional repair that, while not necessary, would keep any future AC folks safe from electrical mishaps. My 87 year old mom scheduled an appointment and had service done. I asked her what was done and she wasn't sure then I asked were is the invoice. She didn't get one. Two days after the service her pot lights were dripping which are located on the other side of the air conditioning. She called several times frantic and got a voicemail. Finally I got through and begged Maria to send someone out. She was kind enough to do that and Ryan was very sweet however nothing was done and he said a master tech, Tony or Andrew would be coming to assess it and went on his way. We called to confirm and again got a voicemail. Nobody showed, nobody called nobody followed up!!! The leak got worse. We were blessed to have a neighbor give us Bentson and Mcgrew who came right out confirmed the call called her when they were here spent an hour fixing the problem Earl couldn't fix which we believe was their fault.
