For a 30 dollar cut it is pretty mediocre. As aforementioned i asked for a taper and 1 inch off the top. My barber did in fact do a taper but he cut off about 1.5 to 2 inches making my hair shorter than expected. Now your probably asking me, "why didn't you look in the mirror and tell him". Well unfortunately the barbers positioned the chairs so they were opposite of the mirrors... So then we couldn't see how the cut was going. (Don't really know the point of the mirrors...) The rest of the hair is pretty even and I think it will grow out nice. The barbers were quite nice and chatty. read more

I've been a customer of Earl's Barber Shop for many years. Both Adam and Carl do great work, and I've never received a bad haircut -- if I saw I want it tapered and not too much off the top, that's what I get. The prices are reasonable. I love all the mementos on the walls, and the neighborly conversation. I live in Kingsgate, and the new location downtown is just a little harder to get to than the previous location in Bridle Trails, but I've never had a problem getting a parking place right in front of the shop. I highly recommend Earl's whenever anyone asks of Facebook or elsewhere! read more

Adam is the best in Kirkland. True barber professional. I work long late hours every day. It is incredibly hard to get in a hair cut. It was 4 pm on a Sunday and he was closing. He could have turned me away but he let me in and turned the closed sign on. He gave me an amazing haircut. I appreciate the small town feel of the shop. He has great conversation and I left with a perfect haircut at a great price. This is a Jewel in Kirkland. We need to save shops like this with all the sprawl that our Kirkland City Council is promoting as progressive change. Passing through town, I found Yelp's reviews for Earl's and dropped in for a quick cut (shares the parking lot with Techcity Bowl in Kirkland). I found a place that was a nice reminder of the barber shops of years ago: friendly greetings, conversational chatting between barbers & patrons and between patrons, along with the fitting decor of a barber shop. The price of a cut has gone up since a yelp review in 2015 citing $15. The price has increased (like any where else) to a reasonable $17. On my way out after a good cut I heard friendly 'goodbyes' and encountered an elderly gentleman entering the shop as I opened the door to continue my day. He met me eye to eye with a smile and I engaged in a pleasant short chat and hand shake with him before I left the shop. Overall a very nice place to get a cut and I'll make a point to return. read more

If you've ever wondered what it's like to have to hit the hard reset button for your head, then you should definitely come here. To me, a hard reset meant to shave my whole head because the haircut that I received here was so bad that I had to get rid of all evidence that it ever existed. I asked the barber for a #1 on the sides and to fade it up to the top, and to trim a little off of the top. What I got was a 4 inch wide Mohawk with no fade. It wasn't even like the Mackelmore cut, the #1 side cut went 2" past the crown of the skull. You may ask, why didnt you stop the cut when you noticed it going sideways? And the answer is because I had to take off my glasses and he faced me away from the mirror. Again, if you want to unwillingly find out what your dome looks like, please, be my guest and go here. If you do not want a clippers only terrible cut, then anywhere else, including doing it yourself at home would be better. Learn from my pain. read more

Earl's is the epitome of a classic barber shop! I've been getting haircuts there for 30 years. Adam (Earl's son), Carl, and the rest of the crew give you a great haircut at an unbelievable price. They've always had low prices in comparison to Eastside barber shops. Wanna chat sports, news, etc. during your haircut? They've got you covered. Kid friendly as well. Traditional men and children only, cash only barber shop, with lowest prices despite quality due to their focus and low overheard. I've been going to Earl's for a few years now. I've been happy with the haircuts and service. Today ended that. My son who suffers from some emotional difficulties was continually tormented by Adam while getting his haircut. The haircut ended with Adam telling my son to, "Cheer up kid!" All the while my son was visibly crying to which he ended the haircut by telling my son, "If you were my son I'd have your ASS out cleaning the yard the rest of the day." Really nice guy, great price...Just a dumpster fire of a haircut. I have a beard and he cut my sideburns off at the tops of my ears (now I have 3/4 inch gaps between my hair and my beard). Also brought the back of my hairline up and in on each side another half an inch. You can see the lines where it was supposed to be faded. Took a few hours, one day in late 2011, to find a "traditional" men's barber in the greater Kirkland area. There are many more "tony" hair shops, especially downtown. Earl's fits the bill for me, though: I like no-frills, competent barbers. They will chit-chat, or not, based on customer's needs (I am not chatty). A family business that seems booming on the weekends by mid-morning. Open early both Saturday and Sunday (yay!), at this writing, which is phenomenal if you're a get-up-early for haircut and breakfast sort of person on the weekends. I will go nowhere else for haircuts, now, as long as I live in the area. read more

Great place for the fella's to get their ears lowered, $11 bucks a cut. It's a good deal and they do a good business. I believe Adam's Dad is Earl and he started this barber shop Way, Way back...Earl's retired now. The cutters are all VERY nice, on the weekends they usually have lots of kids in there getting cuts (I think they only charge kids $5-7) This is a real traditional barbershop, you are in and out fast. I went because of all the great Yelp reviews. When you go there, you won't see it from the street. It's right in front of the Tech City bowl. When you see the Pagliacci sign, turn in there... It's an old-school barber shop that's been in Kirkland for many, many years. My favorite part is that it has a very neighborhood feel where you're a new friend and not just a potential client. When they talk to you, it's because they like you, not just because they're making small talk while doing the cut. It's a $14 cut and well worth it. It's a solid 4 star place and this is my go to spot when I need a good hair cut done by great folks. What I would love is to have a WOW! experience and that's not what they serve. Delivering more than is expected... They're very cool people and it's solid but it's not a place I'm raving about. I've never been to Touch of Class but people give it 5 stars and absolutely rave about it. If it's not the best haircut experience I've ever had, I'd come to Earl's.
