I moved to Kirkland about 5 years ago and immediately missed my barber. I tried to commute an hour to my old barber but driving in this area is torturous. I wanted a competent local barber who communicated well. A comfortable environment would be icing for me. I went to a few different shops around the area and could not find a good match. Eventually, I came across TOC via Google Maps and scheduled the "first available" barber at my convenience. I got to the shop and Jeff was my barber. It's been about 4 years since then and I could not be happier. Jeff is an excellent barber, reliable, reasonable, and is easy to communicate with. If I don't like any part of a cut, I say something and it gets fixed. No sweat from Jeff and no sweat from me. It is our responsibility as the customer to get the product we want. TOC is a great barbershop and an important part of our marina community. Do yourself a favor and schedule a cut at TOC. You won't regret it. P.S. Ignore the hateful people who give 1 star reviews because they are petty individuals. Anytime you see a 1 star review longer than a few sentences, check that person's review history. I bet they constantly complain. I would even say it is more likely that they are unsatisfied in life and it has nothing to do with the business. I've been a regular of Jeff's for two years; prior to him taking over as owner and you couldn't pay me to say a bad thing about TOC Cuts or my experiences there. Jeff is super personable and I've found myself enjoying catching up with him as much as I have getting the haircuts, which have always been amazing. I struggled finding a good spot to get a haircut since moving to Kirkland and after finding TOC Cuts, I refuse to go anywhere else. The quality, service, and atmosphere make it a gem for the area. Jeff, the owner, is amazing! I love his no bullshit but kind East Coast attitude, and honest answers to questions about my cut and style. I also like that a cut is less than most places in Kirkland by $10-20 depending on what you're getting (cut + beard shape up, etc). He's laser focused when he's cutting unlike some barbers that chat with everyone and constantly make you feel like you're not their focus. I always go to Jeff when I need a cleanup between salon visits. He's super nice and really cares about his customers. I read something about the cost going up and all I would say is that everyone deserves to make a living wage. The cost of everything is more expensive. Rent goes up, utilities, everything. The prices are still reasonable. Go to a Supercuts or something if you want a cheap cut but I bet you won't be happy. You really can't beat the price for a hair cut here. They all do a great job! There's usually no wait when you walk in. It takes a bit to find there new location because it's tucked away in the corner of the building. Being one of the closest buildings to the water, TOC Cuts allows for a great view and access to other businesses in downtown Kirkland. I followed his example and got a haircut with Raiden. She listened to all of my requests and goals for my hair and did so in a lighthearted, positive manner. Lastly, the Paul Mitchell products for sale are extremely reasonably priced; typically being 4$ cheaper than alternative salons/barbers. In need for a major cut, I stopped in. I thought though it was a barber shop, the way my hair would be cut the same as I received at another Barber shop in the area. I will say in the end it turned out OK but I was not impressed with the "chair-side" manner of my Barber. From when I walked in, I could tell that they are trying to cater to guys. Lots of leather chairs, nice size TV...felt like a good place. My Barber and I'm sorry I don't remember her name (not Perri) sat me down and started cutting. I started to ask her questions about how she is doing it since it was so different then any haircut in the last 25 years. She informed me that she had only been cutting for about a year, that barbers cut with comb and scissors and dry. She just seemed annoyed that I was questioning her technique though I am the one that has to either get it fixed or walk around with a bad cut. For the price, it is a decent enough cut. I can see that it is not even in spots but I can live with it. With plenty of other shops in Kirkland, I probably won't be back here. read more

Having seen the sign that says that they offer hot towel shaves for several months, I finally made a trip to have a shave. Managed to come in during a slow period (apparently appointments are highly recommended) and was promptly seated with Ranae. She did a great job considering I had almost a full week of growth .... and more impressive is that she did it in 30 minutes compared to 45 minutes or more at other barbers. Service is great, Ranae and the other barber are very friendly and have a nice relaxing place. Only downside is parking, but not their fault so not going to ding them for this. Now for those of you who enjoy a hot towel facial shave, there is only two other locations I have found on the Eastside (all of the others have gone out of business), neither of which I am very pleased with since they charge twice as much as TOCB and frankly do a less than desirable job (the one in Kirkland is probably the worst since they slather on cold shaving products after the hot towel is removed, leading to skin irritation) I highly recommend TOCB, plus you can schedule your appointment online 24/7 rather than having to call them. read more

I've been to lots of hair salons and barbers in the area over the years, trying to find a good match - Great Clips, Earl's, Sport's Clips, Farzi Cuts, Hair Masters, etc. I never felt like the cost matched the value of haircut or that there was much connection between the barber and myself. A family member recommended A Touch of Class and I've been happy ever since. Perri and team provide great atmosphere, great service and for a good price. I was looking for somewhere local for my boyfriend and I to get our haircuts, since our last hairdresser flaked out on us recently. This place is convenient in downtown Kirkland, and you can schedule your appointments online with the ability to cancel your appointment up until 2 hours before you're scheduled! (This is a bonus to us since our personal schedules are often subject to last minute change.) The shop is well decorated and comfortable, without being too fancy or hip. The staff all seemed nice, and our appointments were with Greer. I love the haircut I received! She was talkative, asked interesting questions, and was very fun. She seemed to genuinely care about the community, her workplace, and appreciated her coworkers/boss. It was a great change of pace from hair places where people seem so unhappy all the time! My only con is that I wish they'd put something on their website to warn that they only take cash or check, but there's conveniently an ATM right across the street and several banks within easy walking distance. A big pro: many of the employees own or at least love dogs, and were super dog friendly. A lot of their clientele seem to have been coming there for a long time, local business men/women. read more

Got my second Head Shave and first Hot Towel Face Shave from Ranae. I've been shaving my head for years and Ranae is only the second person I have let shave it for me and she did an excellent job both times. The Face Shave was great as well. I think all men should have a professional shave with a straight razor at least once. If you haven't excerienced it you should set up an appointment. Just left this barbershop. It was my first time so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but it surely wasn't what I got. I came in and saw Paul doing a great job on another patron. He told me he was booked for the next few hours but that his other barber would be back soon. Since I had not been to a traditional barber before and had heard good things about this shop I figured I would wait for the other barber to return. She came back with another person and it seemed as if she had planned to cut his hair. I wasn't in a huge rush as a walk-in and hadn't been there long, so I would have gladly waited for her to take care of them first, but she quickly sat me down. This normally would seem like a good thing, but this was the fastest haircut experience of my life and it just seemed like she was rushing it. Paul even commented on this as she walked me over to pay. I had actually wanted to get a mustache and beard trim as well, but with the way she hastily cut my hair I didn't want to add any more risk to the situation. I honestly feel I would have had a more attentive experience at great clips for 1/3 the price and a similar or better cut. I decided to visit a barber because my hairline has started to mature and I wasn't sure what to do. I guess it's partially my fault for being so inexperienced, nonconfrontational, and having a tough time with thick accents. My hair is still too long in the back, is lacking any real defined shape, and has some uneven spots, plus I still need a beard trimming. Lesson learned: I should have just waited for Paul. :( Oh and I almost forgot to mention the fact that she didn't even dust off my neck/ shoulders so I've got hair in my shirt and jacket and get to spend the rest of the day itchy.
