My family tired this place Sunday the 30 of September. We are from out of town. This place was total chaos, the hostess looked le she had never seen a brunch rush before. The male bartender was hungover and complained about it to everyone he spoke to. The female bartender egnored most of the patrons the whole time we were there. I got the Gravy Train and it was amazing!! Loved the atmosphere and staff was very pleasant.

The menu had a ton of choices and the whole menu is served in the morning. There were three things that were just ok, but everything else was excellent. I am giving five stars but think 4.5 would be right. The tables are spread out nicely and the service was good. The monkey bread was a bit dry on the inside would of liked it better if hot fresh bread. I would skip this next time. The bacon butter on my French toast sandwich was the lowest part of the meal as it was more of a bacon jam I would not get that again. The sweet potato tots were not crispy enough and not as good as I was hoping for. The ham was excellent according to my group, I don't eat ham. The fruit was good and bacon was very good. Honey on the table was a nice touch. To sum it up it was good breakfast fare that was cooked right. I think this is one of the top three breakfast places in town and would definitely recommend a visit. Even though it is a pub it was still family friendly. read more

I went here with my mom for lunch. She got chicken fried steak, I got the burger. The burger was just as good as Grad school. Waiter was efficient, friendly and food was out in pretty quickly. We were there on a Thursday around noon. Went back today with the family for Sunday breakfast. We got a table upon waking in. With in 10 minutes people started lining the sidewalk. Food took a little long to get. Breakfast was great. Good pancakes and biscuits. Waitress was attentive and kept the coffee filled. Interesting mix of people. First of all the wait staff was very friendly, menu was creative with lots of variety, and good prices. Some areas of improvement would be....had to ask for refills on coffee....had to wait a good 20 minutes to order, and then another 45 minutes to get our food. Once we we received our meals...they were stone cold, and since we waited so long could send them back. Came in on a Saturday morning at 10am. Do not come here on the weekends if you want a "quick" meal. We waited for about 15 minutes and the service was slow only because the poor server, Jordan had 8 tables. (being a server before I understand that it's not always the servers fault for being behind) She apologized for the slow service but we weren't in a hurry and she was very sweet! The food was worth the wait. I ordered the Robin. A flaky pastry with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, steamed brocoli, ham, and sweet potato tots, plus fruit. We went there because of all the great reviews,however here's what we experienced. We had the waitress from the DRAMA Club. Cold Eggs and I mean COLD, Bacon overcooked,Hash Browns under-cooked, Biscuits were leftover from another time period, the gravy not even lukewarm. Our waitress refilled our coffee once, but after having her fit, she was not willing to return. Her co-worker was very helpful and pregnant and actually thoughtful, hats off to her! We left. Its a dingy, dark and not particularly clean place, So if your not particular go there and have the DRAMA Club Waitress wait on you, (Leslie), she might make an effort now since this review in on line, but don't get your hopes up! Great breakfast and atmosphere! Wasn't drinking at the time but next time will get some of the delicious looking brunch drinks!

Never again......and here are the reasons. 1) my husband's coffee cup was not refilled until he asked. 2) the men at the table next to us received their food before us, even though they were seated after us. It was apparent some of the servers knew them as they came to their table frequently with coffee refills and to chat. 3) we waited more than 20 minutes for our food to arrive and even then, the order was incomplete....our server had to return with our oatmeal, brown sugar and milk. 4) my sourdough bread was warm but certainly not toasted. 5) my husband asked for his English muffin to be well-toasted.....absolutely no toast marks. 6) our server never offered an explanation or apology for our ridiculous wait. 7) my husband flagged down another server to ask about our breakfast. After another 5 minute wait, our food appeared. We have been to Early Bird quite a few times, but service is slipping. It would be good to realize that all customers should be treated well, not just those in their age group. read more

I've lived here for over a year and never knew this gem existed. But, now that it has been discovered, I will be a frequent visitor. It was busy, which in my opinion means it is good, but once the food arrived, the wait was worth it! Delicious! Our waitress was helpful and had a healthy sense of humor. We were passing through returning from a business trip in Oklahoma. After checking Yelp reviews for a good breakfast spot we decided on Early Bird Breakfast Pub. Yelp and the sign on their door says they open at 9 AM on Sundays. We arrived right at 9 and the parking lot was full! When we went in, we got the last table available!! Is "Early Bird" a secret code for "we open earlier than what our sign says"? So, we were seated...but had no menus available! What is up with that? Our server did appear quickly and took our drink orders. It took 5-10 minutes to get menus. The server came back and took our orders. I ordered El Tacos with bacon, hash browns and black beans. My husband ordered the Blackbird without feta. We also ordered one pancake with bananas to share. Our food came fairly quickly. It was hot and prepared correctly (server forgot the bananas but got them quickly). The tacos looked delicious, but, after one bite, I just ate the filling. The corn tortilla didn't taste fresh and the flavor was a little off. The hash browns were very crispy, but somewhat greasy. The black beans were delicious. The pancake was not fluffy. Their "signature batter" must be something whole grain -- it was even difficult to cut! My husband said his breakfast was good. Our server was wonderful. She kept the coffee cups full and checked on us regularly. The crowd waiting for a table grew almost as soon as we sat down. Our table was closest to the hostess station. People were almost leaning against our table as they waited. I know they don't have a large waiting area, but you folks need to understand personal space! We had to say "Excuse Me" numerous times to get up from our table and out the door. Folks! Use some common sense and be aware of your surroundings! read more

I have been here twice. Both times, I have had great service and a lot of fun. The food is not all that impressive to me. Maybe I don't fully understand the social institute that is "brunch" or maybe I just haven't found the right brunch item to eat here. Recently I had the El Chupacabra. It is basically a plate of eggs your way, a ton of hash browns, two tiny corn tortillas, and a little salsa with black beans and queso, served so that you can assemble two breakfast tacos. I ordered scrambled eggs and was a little disappointed that the egg to hash brown ratio was skewed in favor of more hash brown and less eggs. The eggs had salsa and a slice of avocado on top. The corn tortillas were warm and I enjoyed dipping them in sriracha (I asked for it) and the black bean and queso mixture. The food tasted alright, after I kind of mixed it all together and covered it in sriracha but it just left something to be desired. I also feel it is a bit high for what you get but again, I may have just not ordered the right thing to fully understand this place. I would give it a 3.5 for now but I hope to visit again and find something that can prove to me the power of brunch. read more

Now that Springfield is the epicenter of hipster culture, it is not surprising that this place exists. What is surprising, is that people will wait for over an hour to be seated. It isn't that anything is bad, its just that it isn't worth the wait. I got a general feeling of disorganization, confusion and unpreparedness both times I have gone; uncleaned empty tables while the line is out the door, the kitchen being behind for Saturday breakfast service (most likely one of their busier days). First off, don't come already hungry; the wait time for everything is painfully long; from being seated, to getting drinks, to getting food, to getting the check, and your change-be prepared to wait. I really wish that I was able to say that the wait is worth it, but it isn't. We started with the monkey bread as our appetizer, and it was good, that's it. Immediately after our appetizer arrived, our food shows up; so they need to work out the timing a little bit. I had the half order of French toast and my mother had the Bluebird, and we each had a side of bacon. Mine showed up with my French toast each piece half-done, half raw, and my mother's bacon appeared after we were finished, properly cooked. The staff, while friendly and apologetic, seemed distracted and overwhelmed by how busy it was. Each time we needed a drink refill or anything, we had to watch for our server to appear and wave like mad trying to capture her attention as she is booking it between her tables, trying to take care of her section. Maybe it was my own fault for building it up in my head after reading previous amazing reviews and hearing from friends how good the food was; but it wasn't anything that I couldn't have done better at home in a fraction of the time. I think maybe the novelty of drinking in the morning is appealing to some, but I don't have time to lounge over what turned out to be a two and a half hour breakfast. read more

I love this place! They have a really big menu and each time I have gone I really haven't ever been disappointed. If you go on the weekends there is usually a wait but it's worth it. The atmosphere is like a dive bar, except they serve food that sounds intriguing but falls flat. The "Bird's Nest" and the sweet potato tots were terrible! Soggy granola and cold puff pastry that tasted like it was frozen before it was thawed out and served. The sweet potato tots were also cold and flavorless. The alcoholic coffee drink I had wasn't really worth the money as it tasted like dirty, tepid bathwater with some alcohol thrown in. I won't be visiting here anytime soon! read more

I wanted to bring some family from out of town here on a Saturday and was told it would be nearly 2 hours until we would be seated. From past experience, I knew this would also mean that we would be waiting over an hour to get our food, and we likely could have spent over 3 hours in the place. Yes, the food is good but not good enough for me to spend 3-4 hours out of my day waiting to get it. And I've noticed other reviewers seem bothered that people complain about the extremely long waits, but that complaint is not unfounded and it's totally fair for them to bring it up in an honest review. read more

The Early Bird Breakfast Pub quite possibly has the best breakfast in town. I've gone multiple times ordering something different each time and I have yet to be disappointed. The Chorizo and Eggs is awesome and has become a go-to for my family. The Breakfast mac is one of the most amazing things I've seen offered for breakfast... and so tasty too. The Uncle Cheese is a regular order for my family as well. I ordered the sweet potato nuggs on my first visit, but wasn't impressed. Maybe it was my order, but they seemed to have a strange flavor. Also, the wait is usually pretty long, but that is ok by me. Wait staff is generally friendly which is all I need. Against our better judgment, we tried it again. Service was appallingly bad and down right rude. Not only did our server ignore us and was downright rude, the table next to us got yelled at by their server because she got their order wrong. I repeat, a server yelled at a middle aged man in front of his wife and two kids because the order wasn't right and the server maintained that the guest was incorrect and yelled at him for it. When I spoke to the manager and explained our situation, he just said, "Oh I've had a lot of complaints from that section today." That was it! Yummy! I love this place. There was a 15 minute wait for our party of 2. But service was quick once we got seated. There isn't a hostess stand so it's a little awkward when you first get there as no one is there to check you in or ask how many in your party. The food looked good and the prices are reasonable.
