Came here after getting my blood work done and looking at the reviews I was excited expecting something good. With that being said DO NOT order the chicken and waffles or sausage. The oil is ridiculous and the amount of salt they put is abhorring. To top it off, my server couldn't stop complaining about her life to her coworker. It sounded like a therapy session. She was very rude and appeared aggravated with all her nonverbal cues. So disappointed with the service. If you don't like your job, leave. read more

I actually really liked the food here. I had the chilaquiles which were very good but they don't give you many chips. However, the service here is very bad. Our entire table got their food except for one person and we had to ask our server where it was. Then when we finished our meal, we see one of the chefs in the open kitchen drenched in sweat. I didn't try it but he was excited that the poached eggs were actually runny and not overcooked. I got the grilled zucchini sandwich with potato salad, which was a bit runny. Response to Owner: Thanks for reading my review. I retract my statement about your coffee price...I was charged $2.75 I believe the coffee is taxed, which would make it about $2.99. Either way, in my mind, I round to whole dollars, which is where I came up with $3. I'm definitely very familiar with coffee and different roasts as I was employed by Starbucks for 2 years. I'm actually a fan of a medium roast as opposed to a bold roast, and medium is what I brew at home. The coffee I was served tasted almost like it was a failed attempt to be a flavored coffee. Maybe even a mild fruity taste. Perhaps something went wrong with my batch. Orinigal Review: I have to admit that I was totally taken aback by the location of this place. You wouldn't expect to find a restaurant in the midst of little shops and a grocery store. We went around 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon and there was quite a crowd gathered outside...usually a good sign. The hostess told me it would be a 30-35 minute wait. I checked back after 45 minutes of waiting, and she told me it would be another 25 minutes. That was annoying. You should have your wait times pretty well figured out, especially when you are used to dealing with large crowds and waits. I wonder if this is part of their strategy....make you wait until you are SO starved that everything tastes freaking amazing once you actually get to eat. There is not much to the interior. I sat on a wobbly IKEA chair. The service was pretty fabulous. We were helped quickly and checked on often. Their coffee was STRANGE. It had a very weird aftertaste to it and I was not a fan (and I am a huge fan of pretty much all coffee). At $3/cup, I was kind of annoyed. Other than that, prices were fair for the food. Hash browns were pretty amazing! The eggs benedict were pretty standard and not any more impressive than any other eggs benedict I've had. What did stand out was the dutch waffle. I love this place!! The food is great! Tastes very healthy yet flavorful. The staff is friendly, upbeat, and personable! The interior is not what you would expect. It's a very French-y place- loud, high ceilings, and noisy. But I think it really adds to the experience. It reminds me a bit of Bottega Louie in downtown LA. The only two downside is the wait... And coffee. We had to wait for about 45 minutes and I hate waiting for my food... That's just me. BUT I would actually come back and wait to eat at Early Bird. That tells you something about their food :) The coffee is a little bummer... Not as good as I had expected. Pretty light for my taste since I'm a huge coffee drinker. Overall, LOVE this place. It was an early Sunday morning and for this family I'm talking around 10am when we arrived at Early Bird Cafe in Fullerton. The wait was about thirty minutes and I was willing wait. I had heard a few good things about Early Bird so thirty minutes did not seem too bad. We took the time to look over the menu and decide what we wanted to eat. My daughter got the kids scrambles eggs with bacon and pancakes. My son got the Dutch waffle, my wife got the three egg meal and I got the John Wayne omelet. My daughter had no trouble picking out what she wanted and she had no problem finishing the food. My daughter really liked the pancakes and the bacon but she said the eggs tasted like they were a bit runny. I didn't see any problem with the eggs and even tried them, they were okay to me. These were plain Jane kind of eggs but this must be because they came from the kids menu. The Dutch waffle is just a waffle with a blueberry compote and whipped cream with nothing else. When it came to the table I did not think my son would have enough to eat. The way he has been packing away food I thought for sure he would want something more. However after almost finishing the waffle and having a few bites of my omelet my son said he was stuffed. I had to grab a couple of the left over pieces off my son's plate to try this waffle. The waffle it self was thin and very much reminded me of a softer version of a waffle cone. The blueberry compote and whipped cream added the right amount of sweetness so no syrup was needed. A very tasty waffle indeed. My wife's plate of three over medium eggs, three slices of pecan smoked bacon and EB skillet potatoes looked simplistic but the flavors were spot on. The eggs were cooked just was my wife likes them with a yolk but no runny whites. The bacon was think and smokey while the EB skillet potatoes were a garlic kick to the mouth. I tried a bit everything on my wife's plate and the real star of that plate were the EB skillet potatoes. They looked to be yukon golds that were sliced and then skillet cooked with heaps of garlic. These potatoes out shined the hash browns I ordered with my meal. Well little lady I hope you are ready this omelet (he said in his best John Wayne voice). The John Wayne normally comes with sausage, red peppers and mozzarella cheese. I substituted the red peppers for caramelized onions. I ordered my meal with hash browns but soon wished I had got the ED skillet potatoes. The omelet was cooked perfectly for my liking, the eggs slightly under cooked to avoid becoming a tough mess. The sausage was cut into nice chunks and was all the way through the omelet while the onions and cheese added a bit of sweetness and tang. The entire omelet from end to end was full of each of the ingredients with no pockets of just egg. The hash browns were crisp on the outside yet still soft and moist on the inside. They had a hint of cheesy flavor to them that I couldn't place but it wasn't anything off putting. Next time I eat at Early Bird I will be getting the EB skillet potatoes without a doubt. read more

I ordered the Brioche French Toast for brunch, and it was surprisingly really good. The bread had a great texture, and the added almonds and orange taste were really good. The only real gripes that I have with this place are that the portions are pretty small with no bacon, eggs, or sausages included with your meal. You can add them to your meal, but it's more than $3 for 2 eggs. Early Bird was a pretty good breakfast/brunch place, but the portions were a little too small. read more

first time here, first table of the day. ordered a cup of decaf, it was cold. so not a good start. they replaced it twenty minutes later. meantime we ordered a french toast plainveiw omelet and side of bacon. french toast was sparkling, looked like dessert, awesome! grab the carafe of HOMEMADE syrup, ICE cold, what? WHY? took a bite, barely warm... i noticed it was only grilled on one side. Tasty though accents of apple Cinnamon and citrus, but undercooked. bacon comes out and it was half raw, worse than undercooked. i asked them to re fire it and its deep fried to a crumbly dry disaster. they comped it cause i didn't eat it. I don't live or work near here so not worth driving out the way for which is too bad cause i love breakfast, but its staff seems to be just missing the mark but a great concept none the less. read more

I love early bird!! I had their Frank Floyd egg Benedict and it was really good!! Love the atmosphere of the restaurant and staffs were friendly! I heard their Mexican coffee is really good but when I got there they were out of cinnamon so couldn't try it. I'll have to come again to see how good it is! :) read more

Very good food and worth the wait. We had to wait approx 30 min but our brunch was amazing. I had the Reese's French toast. My guests had the chicken and waffles. Both plates were very good. You would think by reading some of the food combinations sound funny together but they are not. They blend very well and taste awesome. We will be returning. Came here around 12pm and waited for 25 minutes. It's cool how they text you when your table is ready. I ordered the Frank Benedict, and was satisfied with the food. While it is not exactly my tastes I appreciate the different flavor. My boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly and the flavor was very pleasing. We finished our meals pretty quickly since they were so tiny. All in all this place makes pretty good food albeit the portions are small. read more

The wait was 45 mins on a Saturday at 11 am. I had the pork belly eggs Benedict and hot chocolate to drink both were par. The host and waitress were attentive. I enjoyed the service. I had my mind set on the Frank Floyd but I chickened out at the last minute because I noticed it was a healthier option and I was in a New Years revolution type of mood. Next time I go back I'll try it. The place isn't to big and you can see into the kitchen which is a good look. What a wonderful experience my server Summer was just a sweetheart. I had oatmeal, why because I asked for it. It is not on the menu because they do steel cut oatmeal it takes almost 20 minutes to cook but you can order it 6 bucks out the door and it was fabulous the typical dried fruit steel cut oats and brown sugar I like nuts on mine so I asked for pecans. She said I'm not sure but I'll check and she offered walnuts in case we didn't. I love thinking on your feet love it place is very busy kinda surprised at 9 o'clock in the morning on a Thursday a constant crowd be prepared to wait a few minutes but worth the wait I look forward to coming back for some of them are exotic fair such as the duck confit. read more

Chilaquilles have a great amount of meat, it's gluten free because of the corn tortillas used..delicious!i had the Benedict on portabella- it had spinach and smoked salmon!! The poached eggs were perfect, the bernaise sauce was so tasty! Hubby had steak and eggs - the steak was as good as a Morton's steak...he says it's porterhouse or something like that,idk... Sweet potato fries were definitely fresh and just perfect...have I mentioned the skillet potatoes? I think it was fingerling ones, with whole garlic cloves, onions, and green onions, omg! I Love this place. I read great reviews and was not dissapointed. The service was great, very friendly hostess and waitress. The place was clean and had a modern but cozy cafe vibe. I chose potatoes as the side to my eggs and my bf chose the hash browns. The potatoes were so good but the hash browns were terriffic. Def a must. The sausage was so good, not greasy but rather a hint of honey sweetness. The portions were great not massive like other places, you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients. Tried the chicken and waffle breakfast entree. The chicken was good but the waffle was disappointing..it was flat and had a crispy/crunchy texture. The entree also came with some greens and corn which didn't really compliment the waffle or the chicken. It was weird. My friends ordered the eggs benedict and the salmon lox waffle (a weekend special) which they said was good. Not sure if I would come back. My mother in-law was in town and we wanted to treat her to breakfast and we told her about Early Bird. We said, it was one of the best breakfast places around. After all we went there for breakfast twice already. Well this morning was a dissapointment. We ordered Brioche French Toast, John Wayne Omelette and El Guapo Omelette. First of all the coffee was weak. The last two times we were there the coffee was nice full bodied favor. I don't know what happened today. The potatoes were cold, so we told Ruby. She said she would get us some potatoes that were hot. Well she dropped off the new plate of potatoes and left. Well the second plate was still cold and she never delivered our toast. I had to get the other waitress on the cash register to tell her. My husband was so upset that he went next door to the bagel place to get a bagel and eat it in Earl Bird. By the way the omelettes were also cold and did not taste good. My Brioche was dry and cold. I don't know what kind of cooks you have in the kitchen working today, but we will never come back again. By the way the waitress at the cash register took off the John Wayne Omelette which is the right thing to do. My mother in-law still left a $5.00 for the tip on the table, because she said, it wasn't the waitress fault. read more

I have been coming to Early Bird for over a year now. Every time I come I have enjoyed my breakfast, I have tried several of the omelettes but today I had the duck hash!! To say it was good is a serious understatement! It was excellent!! The flavor was outstanding and everything was cooked to perfection in... The shredded duck the potatoes and the eggs sunny side up :-) I also think they have wonderful coffee that is roasted and chosen by the owners. Wife and I stopped in yesterday for some brunch. The food is delicious! My wife got the churro waffles and I got the pork belly eggs benedict. Both were amazing! My wife couldn't stop saying "Mmmmm"... it got a little annoying after a while so I had to try her waffles and then I couldn't stop. The pork belly was both crispy and juicy. The english muffins were the real deal and the hollandaise was spectacular. My wife tried the apple juice and said it was very refreshing. Their coffee is really good too!
