had to make sure I get my ice cream fix when I'm traveling. tried this place and it definitely did not disappoint. Some of ice cream flavors are pretty unique like whiskey hazelnut. Got one scoop of the matcha ice cream. Friendly staff. Street parking. The place is small but there are seatings inside. Also they provide water for you to drink. Will definitely want to come back.
With lines out the door and around the block into the evening, it's pretty telling of this spot. All the flavors we tried had a strong punchy taste (I'm a huge coffee flavor aficionado) and the texture was dense and creamy as it should be. There's seating inside which is useless when people are crowding around, but at least there's some outdoor curb/bench/flowering arrangements to post up against. I'll subtract a star since I had someone in my party with a severe nut allergy and the staff used the same rinsed scoopers vs having dedicated ones, and it appears they process the ice cream through the same machines so there's a huge likelihood of cross contamination.
I love earnest ice cream! Their ice cream tastes so fresh and I love that they have rotating flavours but also a couple staples so you can either try something new everytime you go, or stick to your favourite flavour. I got the coffee and london fog flavour, and my mom got the cookies and cream, both were so delicious. Not to mention the employees are always so kind, and I love that you get to sample a couple flavours as well.
Fantastic ice cream spot in Vancouver! Easily some of the best ice cream I have ever had, we tried the cookies & cream, strawberry, and coffee ice cream (in a sundae) flavors, all excellent quality and very fresh tasting. Even though they were busy the service was quick and friendly. I was on vacation visiting from the states, but Earnest will be at the top of my list of places to come back next time I am in the area.

They sell cool ice cream flavors and have a zero waste concept that led to the creation of their own ice cream jars. (Saves a buck each time you bring it back for refills) I find the ambiance at this original Fraser location very cozy, it was especially great to stop by in the summer time with its cool air conditioning and light music. This is my happy place to visit when I feel in need of a scoop of cheer me up ice cream and also when bringing out of town visitors for an ice cream brand that is "only available in Vancouver". My personal favorite ice cream flavors are whisky hazelnut, London fog, salted caramel, matcha green tea... plus its offerings of "limited edition" flavors. Staff are nice and patient so chocolate lovers feel free to ask for a tiny spoon sample of their various chocolate flavors in store to find one to your liking. My default go to flavor is the whiskey hazelnut because it's an unique flavor that is only available at Earnest Ice Cream. Highly recommend this awesome pairing for anyone who likes hazelnut and whiskey.

Sampled the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and the Chewy Pretzel Blondie. Both were great and I was surprised how much I like the Chewy Pretzel Blondie. Went with my go to Salted Caramel again this time, but thinking next time it will be the Chewy Pretzel Blondie. Another positive ice cream experience at Earnest.
Been to Earnest Ice Cream many times over the years. Place was bumping on a Friday evening. $5.25 single, $7.50 double and $12.00 pints. 18 flavours to choose from. Shared a vegan peppermint patty ($5.25). Decent texture for vegan but not my favourite in town. Peppermint flavour was enjoyable.
This ice cream place is amazing!! It was so hard to choose which flavor to get but i decided to go with the matcha and london fog! They were so flavorful and the scoops were really big! I was also debating between getting the whiskey hazelnut and strawberry whirl which was also super good. They had very unique flavors and the line was super long but the service was still quick! I would definitely recommend checking this place out
Big Earnest ice cream fan here!! I've been visiting Earnest for years now and it's my first (and definitely not last) time leaving a review. But I can honestly say I've never been disappointed. All the classic and seasonal/monthly flavours are SO amazing. Their service is friendly and efficient usually, and this time was no different. They're busy even on a brisk Autumn day but the space always feels so inviting and cozy. I love that we can sample different flavours and I find that the staff always do a good job of making sure different components of the flavour are in there (unlike other ice cream places where we can't sample or are given a small bit with the different textures missing so you can't sample the whole flavour fully ). I ordered a double scoop with the FABULOUS November flavours - Almond Croissant and Salted Chocolate Rye Cookie. Those flavours are literally heaven. I'm so in love. I love the chewy bits of rye cookie paired with the chocolatey salty flavour. I love the crunchy bite of the almond slivers and the croissant with the not overly sweet but creamy almond base. Simply amazing. I will say the scoops looked a little messy and didn't have the usual beautiful round scoops I'm used to. I think it's perhaps that the staff was newer, totally ok though! Still tasted great. Please do yourself a favour and go to Earnest ice cream now!

Went on a hot Sunday afternoon and the line was huge! No fault of the staff because there simply were too many people wanting ice cream. Got the May seasonal of Coffee Crisp and it was a great way to beat the heat. Love coming to try their seasonal specials! read more

It was a hot summer day and after having dinner in a hot, stuffy restaurant we felt like cooling off with some ice cream so we went to Earnest Ice Cream on Fraser St. Our family was lucky enough to snag a table when we got there. It was super crowded in there. Super full from dinner so I just shared 2 scoops of ice cream with my husband and my daughter. We had coffee ice cream and vegan cookies n cream ice cream. The ice cream here is awesome and the scoops were very generous. Only thing is...I wasn't a fan of how crowded and noisy it was inside. Had so much trouble hearing when people were talking to me. I much prefer the North Vancouver location of Earnest Ice Cream which is more spacious and less crowded. I can hear myself think more at the North Vancouver location. Parking was challenging. There's free parking on the street but only if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. It was very busy when I first arrived. I circled several times before I finally got lucky and a car pulled out of its spot on Fraser St. As soon as I saw that a car was leaving I parked in the same spot as soon as I possibly could. read more

Came here after early dinner, around 6 pm and it was not crowded at all. I'm a big Earnest fan. I keep track of all the seasonal flavour. This month they are doing a collab with Bench Bakehouse for the flavour Almond Croissant. Amazing flavour and texture! The tiny chunks of croissant gave that really nice crunch in every bite, 11/10. I'm moving tiramisu flavour down on my rank, current ranking as follows: 1. Almond Croissant 2. Tiramisu 3. Lemon Tart As usual Earnest is a great place to hang after dinner for that sweet cravings. Nice accessible place with washroom. Staff are really nice too. You can try the flavours before committing, so just ask them. read more

I have never had earnest ice cream because of its constant, daunting line up. However my friends flipped when they realized i was a earnest ice cream virgin. The flavours I sampled were whiskey hazelnut, lemon tart (GF), and Tahitian vanilla. The whiskey needed more whiskey, or maybe some smoke flavour, it just wasn't there yet. The lemon tart with bits of graham cracker crust was sensational and refreshing. However the depth of vanilla in the Tahitian was unbeatable. I make my own vanilla ice cream from scratch and this rivalled my own. Very generous scoop and nice little establishment. Next time ill have to try the vegan peanut butter pretzel, and the cold brew coffee. I really love a unique but flavourful dessert. read more

Just finished up a really crappy lunch a couple doors over and we decided to treat ourselves to earnest ice cream Here's what we have to say The lady that served us was absolutely fantastic she was super sweet and she let me try as many ice creams as I wanted to and Same with my brother If you go in there and only get one scoop you're losing out So we both got 2 scoops I got there hazelnut Whiskey and their coffee crunch Scoop sizes are nice yes it is expensive yes it is a treat at $8 a piece Was it worth it yeah it was pretty darn good My brother had the hazelnut whiskey but by far the best flavor was the other flavor that he had which was the lemon poppy seed Holy crap Delicious is not the word you're looking for Is super freaking delicious The ambiance is nothing fantastic Is food 10/10 Service 11/10 Ambiance 6/10 read more
I came here twice during my visit to Vancouver. I love the ice cream consistency and the flavors are well executed. I particularly enjoyed the London Fog and Whiskey Hazelnut. It's a pretty popular and cute spot but they have a good system for dealing with the crowds. I'd definitely recommend checking it out! read more
My girlfriend and I have visited many ice cream shops around the city, but we'd always come back to Earnest, as it never misses. This cute little ice cream shop is always filled with lines that extend all the way to the corner of the block, which shows how much the locals love coming here. They have many choices of ice cream, including vegan ones; they even have coffee on the size if you need a quick espresso. My go-tos are always London Fog and Matcha. These two's flavors are always creamy and rich yet not too sweet. I'm not too much of a sweets person; any overwheling sweetness will throw me off, but I'd never get sick of these ones. My girlfriend's favorites are whiskey hazelnut and cold brew coffee. These ones are also very rich; you can really taste what the name is telling you, and most importantly, they all taste natural. We love to order the scoops with a cone and ask them to put them in a cup; we can eat them while biting the cone, then break them apart and mix them together for a whole different experience. Earnest is also known for their pints; we never bought them as we like to come in here for the scoops and hang around after. They also occasionally offer ice cream sandwiches; if I remember correctly, they only had two fruity flavors that are not on the regular menu. You can never go wrong with Earnst. A lot of people know about it as it has many locations across the city. I'm glad that I had an Earnst around my old place and this one around where I now live. read more
This has become my favorite ice cream shop in the area! They give generous samples and there are a lot of interesting flavors (such as whiskey hazelnut -- you actually taste the whisky!). Some of the flavors were ok: I wasn't the biggest fan of some of the flavors I sampled such as tiramisu, but most were interesting or really tasty. My favorites were the sour cherry goat cheese and the pistachio. The goat cheese was subtle and paired well with the fruitiness of the cherry flavor. Their pistachio was probably my favorite pistachio ever as it tasted the least artificial and was very nutty. Their ice cream isn't the creamiest, but still solid mouthfeel. Looking forward to trying more flavors! read more
Updating my review not because anything has changed, but because I didn't put a word in for the vegan flavours in my previous review. I tried their vegan oat nog ice cream today and I need everyone to know that it was fantastic. The texture was so velvety. Not too dense. I sampled the vegan peppermint patty too and would also recommend that. These are December specials so do check them out if you get the chance. I haven't been wanting to eat a lot of dairy lately so I'm glad Earnest has such good vegan options. read more
Earnest Ice Cream is a delightful treat that truly stands out from the crowd. With a wide range of flavors to choose from, each scoop is a decadent experience for the senses. The ice cream is creamy and smooth. Not much space for seating so I imagine it's crowded when it's busy. Good customer service, especially when there's no line. read more

Crazy busy here on a Friday night! A mild January day and we clearly weren't the only ones thinking ice cream after dinner. Monthly new flavours and special deals bring the regulars in flocks. My friends A & M come super often so they were able to point out the new additions. The Cream Cheese ice cream being one. The "scooper" recommended pairing this with another ice cream so all 5 of us took his suggestion. I had the Cream Cheese with the Pecan Cinnamon Swirl and it was like eating a Cinnamon Bun!! So so so delicious. I also had the pleasure of helping my little guy not dip his Cookies and Cream all over and wow is this a winner! So many yummy cookie pieces and the cone was good too. Like everywhere these days, staff is hard to find and the two people that were doing a great job could have really used a third body last night but other than that, it was an epic dessert experience that I would recommend a to all! Oh and the January special is BOGO Ice Cream Sandwiches. RUN DONT WALK. read more

The line out the door was a sign! We were strolling around Vancouver and had to check out what everyone was waiting for. Earnest Ice Cream! I had the place bookmarked after a Yelp friend recommended it. The line moved smoothly and I loved my ice cream. I decided on the seasonal special, Rhubarb Oat Crumble. Fruity and creamy with chunks of oat clusters. So good! My sister couldn't resist the Coffee Crisp was was delicious as well. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors! read more

Ice cream was exceptional! Must try if you are in town. This makes me mad that there's no ice cream place with similar quality close to where I live lol anyway, taken off one rating because of the service. There was someone working during the time we visited and got really pissed at their customers in general. Maybe they need some time off or this place is just kinda understaffed... read more
I'm slightly lactose intolerant, but I ended up eating 3 scoops of ice cream here. Earnest has a variety of great flavors, I was able to sample every single one of them and the server was very nice. Definitely a great ice cream place and refreshing. I might regret eating so much ice cream later but it's fine. read more
earnest ice cream rocks, we often get the pints. they rotate their flavours every month. i love what they believe in and stand for, that they recycle, they support local growers, source ethical ingredients, they give back to the community, and so much more. we were at the fraser street location on a sunday evening, at around 8:00 pm, and the line up was out the door and took around 15 minutes. my favourite flavour is their london fog (earl grey tea with vanilla bean), and butter pecan (nicely toasted), and in october, i make sure to get multiple pints of their baked apple pie (with chunks of pie crust, and i'm not even a fan of regular apple pie). there's a line up for scoops and another line up for pints only. service is efficient and friendly, sample tastings are provided if you can't decide. you can return your clean pints with lids and get $1 off your next ice cream purchase. i have been known to polish off a pint of earnest ice cream in one seating, but on this visit, i got two scoops of cream cheese, and strawberry swirl, and my spouse got their peanut butter and chocolate pretzel on a waffle cone. when in vancouver, earnest ice cream is a must visit, (four locations), any time of year. read more
