Pretty cool to see; I didn't realize the beans were green in their raw form! I ended up getting a good ol' plain latte and it was great. The espresso was super smooth, perfect without sugar or syrups. The inside space is small, but they have outdoor seating and a cool swing bench. The barista was nice and got our drinks out quickly. I walked to this location from Kia Downtown in under 25 min ( love getting steps on the Fitbit! ). Located in the fashion district. It's a small, one man roasting operation, clean and quiet. Yummy pastries on display but I came for cafe and I'm glad I came!! You'll see on the menu a crème brûlée latte; GET IT!!!! I've had a couple of their beverages such as the golden milk, activated chai and matcha drink - all killer however I do reco customizing your drink to your liking as well! Earth bean offers a variety of milk substitutes and syrups to truly make your drink your own. An iced lavender latte or peppermint mocha cappuccino are seasonal faves. Gotta love the Superfood Coffee! This one has cacao butter, gelatinized maca, & red reishi to relieve stress and boost immunity. The taste is amazing with so many different flavor profiles that balance each other out. If you're into the grass fed butter coffees then this is the coffee for you. Let me start by saying my wife LOVES the coffee. The service from the company leaves a lot to be desired however. I recently purchased 3 bags of ground coffee via the web but was shipped whole bean instead. This happened because they had an issue with their web hosting service that caused all orders placed using a Chrome browser to revert to whole bean regardless of what you chose to order. I will share that as an IT professional, I did all the research, diagnosed the issue, and made them aware of the problem so they could fix it. The thanks I got was the replacement of ONE bag of coffee and being told I need to purchase a grinder in case this ever happens again. So now the problem is mine because I don't have coffee grinder, really? The only proper response in this scenario would have been to replace ALL THREE bags. Their website had the problem, and it was not an error on my part(which was confirmed by them after the fact). By only shipping one replacement bag they told me they value their immediate profit more than my long term relationship (which was over 3 years up to this point). Additionally, when I received the reply that they confirmed my diagnosis and were sending a single replacement bag, I replied that this was disappointing (and that I should be getting two more replacement bags of the coffee in the correct grind state). The result of this reply, I was greeted by CRICKETS. No e-mail back, no attempt to properly fix the issue. Clearly there isn't any concern at preserving a multi-year relationship. Prior to this I actively promoted their product but can no longer do so in good conscience. Valuing profit over service loses every time. My advice is for others to seek their coffee elsewhere. Earth Bean's reply: Hi Bob, Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern. This is the first time this has come up and we have spent the last few days investigating it with Shopify, which we use for our website. They were unable to replicate the issue on their end (see attached correspondence). We did some internal testing and found the issue is happening as you state with only the Chrome browser. Please confirm this is the browser you are using. We have escalated the issue specific to the Chrome browser to Shopify. Until they fix it on their end (it could also be a Chrome issue) we are unable to 'fix' it. I suggest using another browser like Safari or Edge when placing orders with us. Earth Bean Coffee is a super cute coffee shop that focuses on being environmentally friendly. Love the use of paper straws, and they serve to-go beverages made of corn plastic, which is compostable. The Americano is fantastic! I also tried a raspberry lemon pound cake they stock from Baker's Kneaded, which was hugely disappointing. It was too moist and it was gluten-free (not mentioned to me at time of purchase). However, Earth Bean Coffee is still a great stop! read more

This semi-hipster vegan coffee shop is nestled on the corner of a small strip mall. It came highly recommended from the owner of Smile Natural Products located on the same strip mall, across from this coffee shop (Check them out. Black owned and sell natural body products). I was unsure what to order and decided to try the iced Matchaful, with Almond milk and a dash of maple syrup. I'll admit I was nervous but it was so delicious. The inside of the coffee shop is small. I love plants and think the drapery of plants closest to the ceiling adds a nice touch to all the brown. The bldg. can maybe fit approx. 10 people comfortably. There is no sitting area inside, but there is a long table outside for folks to gather. There was only one staff present. He was nice and professional. The design of the store is open and airy, and not cluttered with knick-knacks like many of the other shops. Last time I was there I popped in early May 2020 while on a road trip. I had a cold brew coffee with house-made oat milk. I asked the Barista to make it a little bit sweet and it was PERFECT! It was not too strong or bitter, it had just a touch of sweetness as I requested and was the perfect temperature to keep me cool on an 88-degree day. I paired it with "Avo Smash" which is their version of avocado toast served on a rustic European style bread. The avocado was extremely generous and was complemented nicely by the sweetness of the cherry tomato and crunch of the pine nuts. I tasted the slightest amount of salt which just set all the flavors off. I continued the rest of my drive not feeling too full but never hungry. Nice coffee buzz, too. Earth Bean is just minutes off the I-5 freeway. That day, I took a gamble they would be open because you never really know with the current situation (COVID crisis). As it happens, luck was in my favor! Not only were they open, but the friendly barista was also wearing masks and gloves. I appreciate that the business is following health protocols, and it shows they're running a clean and safe storefront. I didn't stick around long but did see some others picking up "to-go" orders which is a good sign. After I got my subsistence for the rest of the ride, and since I was in the Fashion District, I decided to buy some trendy masks from an outdoor vendor down the street as gifts for friends/family (confessions of a shopaholic). So SO good! I was in town for 2 days for work and we picked up coffee for the whole group both days. We got 2 carafes and since I can't do caffeine I got myself the Cocoa Bliss Booster both times. It was so delicious and super well priced. The Barista was very nice and helpful - also super fast even though we didn't call ahead either day for the carafes. For what must be a year now Tilt Coffee Cafe's Cloud Latte (recently knocked off by Starbucks) has been my favorite coffee beverage in DTLA and the surrounding area. That might still be the case, but it's a close one as Earth Bean Coffee's Creme Brulee Latte has made a strong showing for that same title. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? I'll admit that Earth Bean Coffee's location is a bit unorthodox. The intersection of South Los Angeles and 11th in the Fashion District isn't exactly my go-to neighborhood for a quaint coffee shop compared to say the Arts District or the Northwest suburbs, but with other hot spots like Cilantro Lime nearby Earth Bean Coffee has just as much a right as anyone to try and continue to improve this part of town. Once you're inside the service and atmosphere are fantastic. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $6.00 got me a good sized Creme Brulee Latte, and as you'll see that was essentially a bargain given the quality of this drink. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I've had all shapes and sizes of new age coffee drinks, but a Creme Brulee latte was an entirely new concept for me, and Earth Bean executed it brilliantly. Stumbled upon this place between meetings in the Fashion District and sure am glad I did! I'd never heard of this coffee shop, but dang if they don't have a killer aesthetic and fun, healthy menu. Come here for fancy lattes and toasts that Millennial dreams are made of. Was hoping for the "sea green mylk" drink but they were out, so I got the "superfood coffee" instead. It was delicious and served in a nice ceramic cup atop a little wooden board. The owner brought it out to me and was kind enough to come back and check if I wanted it warmed up as I was on a call and didn't drink it right away. There are two small tables inside but the majority of the seating is outside, so something to keep in mind if you were planning on working or having a meeting here. The seating in the alley was cute and relatively quiet, with a few characters here and there (but hey, it's DTLA). Really cute little cafe offering quality caffeine and snacks in the heart of DTLA Fashion District. Note: it is a really small cafe with limited seating. Earth Bean Coffee's distinction is its organic, free trade, and sustainability menu. I ordered their Caprese toast (buffalo mozzarella, Roma tomato, vinaigrette toast), blueberry muffin/coffee cake and green tea. The dishes were well presented on wooden boards with Earth Bean Coffee logo - a nice reminder of the cafe's organic/natural theme. The toast was light and delicious. The blueberry coffee cake paired nicely with my green tea. Overall, Earth Bean Coffee has a limited offering of food and beverages but you can really feel the attention to detail on the items they offer. The only downside is seating. The cafe has only a picnic table/bench in the front and a few seats and tables - mostly outdoor on the side alley/walk way which draws a lot of wind. I got a iced lavender latte, I asked for oat milk but pretty sure I was given almond milk. Either way whatever milk it was, was so watery and gritty like there was sand in it. Also the coffee really tasted sour and watery, its a shame because after seeing the great reviews I was really excited and wanted to like the place! Also the to-go cup they use is impossible not to make a mess with. You have to push the paper straw so hard to get it through the slit, so it spills coffee everywhere and also that poked a hole through the flimsy straw so I kept getting air bubbles while drinking, and walked home with coffee spilled all over my hands. RUDE STAFF! I came in not ready to order yet but I had some work to get done and I was excited that I had found this place. Coffee shop culture is that you can come and hangout even if you don't order. NO ONE WAS IN THERE! I wasn't hungry or ready for coffee but the menu did look nice so I typically do order eventually as I go to coffee shops all the time and this is not a problem. I told the guy that I wasn't ready to order just yet and proceeded to sit down. He said "we have a small space and if you don't order then you can't sit in here" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? We came in excited to try the coffee and we asked if there was a restroom. We wanted make sure there was in case we had to use it. The barista responded for customers only in a condescending manner. My friend Was so uncomfortable that she decide to step outside and let me order. On top of that they let another customer order in front of me when I was already ready to order. This place just opened but I'm already impressed to how well this place is doing. A beautiful little corner coffee shop located in DTLA area, two steps away from the Fashion District. The setting is absolutely charming. Along with the harmonious decor and fresh atmosphere, the lovely couple who runs the shop who were so kind, attentive, & welcoming made my first visit even more pleasant. My husband & I hung out here for over an hour. Everything they serve is all natural and all-organic. This establishment is very eco-friendly.
