I've been to Stereoscope Coffee a couple of times now and they have some of the friendliest staff! And excellent matcha! They have a few different series of matcha and that part is very fun here. I love how they explain all the information on each one and personally I liked the Hokatsu Series best which they say is nutty and creamy. I'm not going to pretend I could properly identify the nuances of all the different matchas but it made me feel fancy trying! In the non-matcha realm, the Madagascar Vanilla Latte is one of their most popular drinks so I had to try that. Also the Jacobsen's Salted Caramel was a seasonal special that sounded delish. I loved them both! The drinks are great, the staff is excellent, the parking is metered on the street so can be difficult. But whenever I can find a spot, I pop in! read more

I absolutely love the space--it's large, welcoming, and offers both indoor seating and an outdoor patio, which is a huge plus. Whether you're looking for a place to study, catch up with friends, get some work done, or simply relax with a great drink, this spot is perfect. The service is always excellent, and the drinks are outstanding. The coffee is delicious, and I especially love the creamy foam they put on top of some of their drinks--it takes them to another level. Don't come here if you want matcha, get a coffee instead (hence the name Stereoscope COFFEE). You really can't trust the ratings you see on social media because I saw people raving about how good this matcha is. There are different ceremonial matcha tiers they offer and I got the popular Yorokobi blend, which is supposed to have a smooth creamy umami flavor. When I got the drink it was a dirt green color and was overly milky tasting which I was very disappointed about. I don't know if it's even worth it to come back to try their other matcha offerings because they are quite pricey and there are better spots in Ktown. The inside of the cafe is minimalistic and was filled with people doing work on their laptops. You can also park in the AVA apartment lot and they validate for 1 hour which is a plus though. read more

Tired this spot with my friends since we were in the area and I wish there was one closer to me. There's only street parking and then interior was modern and minimalism. There was a long line but the service was fast and then drinks hit the spot. The shop itself was beautifully designed and very spacious with high ceilings. They also had a bathroom. This shop is one of many stores on the bottom floor of a large apartment building. I was driving home on a Sunday afternoon post workout, and this coffee shop caught my eye! So as a matcha girlie, I think this is the best matcha I've ever had. I ordered a Nakama matcha with simple syrup, but it was the coolest thing to see different types of ceremonial matcha offered on the menu, based on region. I also ordered an Everything Croissant, which was so delicious. The croissant has hint of jalapeños in it for a very subtle kick. I loved how spacious this location is, a great place to work or study. There were a good amount of people visiting the coffee shop but it wasn't overcrowded because of how spacious this place is. Additionally, parking is metered all the way down Santa Monica Blvd., and there are plenty of spaces on cross streets. So so good. I'm kind of surprised it took me this long to try Stereoscope Coffee, but the Strawberry Matcha I ordered made me an instant fan already. I was looking at a long evening commute back to NoHo when I decided I obviously needed a little bev to keep me company (and sane). There was a long line but San (I may be spelling that incorrectly) was absolutely delightful at the register. He kept a good pace through the line, leaving enough room for the bar to catch up but not so long that it felt frustrating. The really impressive part is he remained very perky, pleasant, and not too rushed. It was like a good balance of urgency but not chaos which as a customer service girlie, I completely appreciate and realize it's not always that easy to maintain. He also kept communication up when he was busy. 10/10 for San, keep him around! Parking wasn't too bad. There's a version where I could see it being hard as it's all street parking on Santa Monica, but I arrived around 4:20 or so on a Wednesday and found several meters wide open right in front. As for the reason we're all here, the drink itself! I chose the strawberry matcha over ice and it is DELICIOUS! I specifically asked for sweetened so I'm not sure if that's from the strawberry or if they add it so if you DON'T like your drinks very sweet I would ask for clarification as this was decently sweet (which is my personal preference). The matcha color looked a little light so I was worried it wouldn't be strong enough for me but it tasted wonderful. Perfect amount of ice to milk ratio. It was also surprisingly fast to come out compared with the time I waited in line to order. They even delivered it out to me on a cute little wooden tray while I was just waiting for them to call me to the counter. I know I've been here one other time and I don't remember what I got I think it was the vanilla latte, and I do so far prefer the matcha. There were lots of seating options and even a cute little patio area. The inside is a little industrial so I'm not sure it's the right 'stay and work all day' vibe for me but I think the patio would be amazing on a slightly cooler day. I'll have to investigate the outlet situation as well so I'll update this review next time I get to do a little more research. Price is fairly standard for the industry these days. I paid eight dollars plus tip for my drink. This location is a little out of my way with my usual routine but I will definitely be returning next time I'm in the area (or betttter yet COME TO THE VALLEY)! TLDR: In a world where we are all becoming more and more intentional about where we place our dollars, Stereoscope is worth the investment. read more

Is it the stark modern interior that draws in the monotone clientele? Needed a place to spend a few hours working and was drawn to this place. Maybe because that day I also chose to wear all black and white like every other customer and employee that stepped into this place the three hours I spent there. I'd popped into Stereoscope once before and appreciated the coffee shop's unique, industrial vibe, great service, and chai tea. Recently, I decided to go back to try the matcha that everyone was raving about. I went for one of the ceremonial blends and was honestly, whelmed. I think it needed to be whisked a little more because I found it to be gritty. It also had more of a jasmine tea aftertaste and the flavor of the matcha wasn't shining through the oat milk. That said the color was stunning and, once again, the service was outstanding. I chose the most expensive matcha's choice, which was Ujigawa, as recommend by staff and I thought it was OK, not like phenomenal or something so with that price I'll opt out and chose the cheaper ones (or buy my own matcha tin LOL or go to Community Goods for one with Einspanner and cheaper price!) It wasn't too busy, arrived on a Sunday morning around 10 am. There was no line and drinks came out quickly. I tried their sweetened matcha (iced) with almond milk. The matcha was a bit powdery which is to be expected with sweetened matcha drinks. TBH, wasn't the best matcha. The Le Labo soap and lotion in the bathroom was a nice touch. I think this is a good place to go if you're looking for a quick drink in the morning. Madagascar Vanilla Latte (2 espresso shots) 3. Royal Milk Tea (initial flavor similar to chocolate milk but the milk tea flavor is subtle towards the end of your sip) The menu is a bit daunting, however still offers variety and ability to customize based on coffee selection (they definitely have options for sweet drinks). Service is very accommodating and they even deliver the drinks to you. Their friendly and welcoming personalities will leave a good impression on you. I came in a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. There was a good influx of customers. Even with multiple people, spending time inside wasn't unbearable. It's chill since I'm in the area but dang I can't come here anymore. With the gov on strike and now we all got some hundred dollars less for food for thanksgiving. Five and change for anything on the menu at minimum. I got a cookie so at least I'll be full instead of coffee. Sigh. The interior is so stark it doesn't lend itself to me wanting to do much work, it feels like a scary open-layout office or something. Their chocolate chip sea salt cookie is bomb, I would've got the cinnamon roll but even this cookie is 5.50 sigh.
