The guy at the front with the pierced right ear was rude and dismissive. I tried ordering a chai and was told they don't carry it. I explained that Yelp has an "Order" section that directs customers to DoorDash, where a chai is listed as an available item. Instead of simply explaining the situation, he was condescending and insisted that they were not affiliated with DoorDash. The employee making the coffee eventually had to step in and explain that they used to accept DoorDash orders but stopped about a year ago. If that's the case, this is clearly something the business needs to address. Their Yelp listing is still directing customers to DoorDash, creating confusion about what they actually offer and where they can order from. Mistakes happen, but there was absolutely no reason for the front employee to be so dismissive or condescending when I was simply trying to order something that their own Yelp listing indicated was available. Updating the DoorDash information would be a good start, and so would treating customers with a little more courtesy. read more

Not sweet but nicely done but a smidge grainy which knocked it down a little Lychee Peachy: 7.5/10 - refreshing but purely a peach drink with no lychee to be tasted. A nice walking drink for the heat Signature Latte Cream Top w/ Vanilla: 8.3/10 - sweet with notes of caramel, cream, and coffee with a little punch The drinks are very well done and tbh the matcha leans more towards the matcha flavor itself which I appreciate and the signature latte will pls those morning goers who want a donut and a drink all in one. The customer service is actually the highlight as they explain the drinks well and bring your order to your seat. It was a busy Saturday, but I was greeted by all of the staff. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood. On this day, I ordered a Madagascar Vanilla Latte, and I was satisfied with my order and experience here. I went to Stereoscope Coffee Echo Park yesterday afternoon. I ordered two hot Americanos and a hot Vanilla Latte (decaf with almond milk). It was really interesting that one of the Americanos was made with Ecuador Los 4 Mundos beans, and the other was made with Colombia El Diviso. When a staff member brought over my hot Vanilla Latte, I asked to make sure it was decaf. He took it back just to double-check for me, and then confirmed that it was indeed decaf. The coffee here is all delicious, and the staff are incredibly friendly, which I really liked. However, the chairs were quite uncomfortable to sit in, and the Vanilla Latte was still pretty sweet even though I ordered it "less sweet." Still, the coffee tastes so good and the staff are so incredibly kind, so it's a really great coffee shop. P.S. A funny thing: They had dog treats in a jar. I immediately thought of my boss's absolutely super, incredibly cute dogs, so I asked for an empty cup and packed some treats to bring to the office for them today. But when I finished my coffee and was heading out, I totally forgot and accidentally threw the cup of treats away along with the empty coffee cups. OMG. (But seriously, all dogs and cats always absolutely love me. Hahaha. When I get to work, my boss's dogs come over wagging their tails and greeting me so excitedly--they are just so, so adorable. And as for cats, there's a stray that I've been feeding every single morning on my way to work for over 4-5 years now. She currently lives at the Buddhist temple I attend. Every day when I go, she follows me around everywhere. She absolutely loves it when I scratch her back with a brush, and when I'm done and try to leave, she taps my foot to tell me to scratch more! ALMOND CROISSANT - 6.50 My cousin and I split the almond croissant, which was pretty sizable and generously topped with almonds. However, It was a bit stale and wasn't the easiest to cut through to share. The yuzu notes complemented the almonds nicely, but we found that the croissant a little too greasy. Since the pastry wasn't particularly fresh, the butter had solidified slightly on the inside. POUR OVER - MKT PRICE The price of the pour over depends on the beans available. I took a gamble and bought a bag of their Colombia El Diviso - Sidra beans, which came with a complimentary drink. I opted for a pour over using the same beans. To my surprise, they served a generous amount -- I was able to enjoy about three small cups' worth. It had a mellow, fruity profile (with prominent guava notes) that had a tea-like finish. It was one of the better pour overs I've had from a coffee roaster. Overall, the coffee was definitely high quality, and I'm looking forward to making pour overs at home with the beans I bought. Seating is really tight -- I knocked into the dude at the table next to ours every time I got up (sorry). Stopped by Stereoscope for a cortado and had a really enjoyable experience. One thing that immediately stood out was the barista's knowledge. She was genuinely engaged in talking about coffee, understood the beans she was serving, and was able to answer questions without hesitation. That's becoming harder to find these days, and it definitely added to the overall experience. The cortado itself was well executed. The temperature was right where it should be, allowing the flavors to come through immediately without having to wait for the drink to cool down. I was able to clearly taste the notes in the coffee, and the balance between the espresso and milk was excellent. The body held together nicely throughout the drink and never felt thin or watered down. My only critique would be that the crema and microfoam leaned a little more matte and foamy than glossy. It wasn't enough to take away from the drink, but a slightly silkier, shinier texture would have elevated it even further. That said, this was an Ethiopian natural, which can be a bit trickier to dial in and pair with milk while still preserving the character of the coffee, so it's a fairly minor criticism. Overall, a very good cortado from a shop that clearly cares about coffee. Good execution, proper temperature, clear flavor separation, and knowledgeable staff always make for a better coffee experience. read more

My first impression is that the line to order your drink is ackwardly situated right by the doorway so there is no rhyme or reason where to line up and it jams up the front entrance. I ended up ordering one of their newer items on the menu which was an americano with a sweetcream topper and when mixed properly, it was super delicious. He loves coffee you could tell how he was so into it being our first visit. I tried the cold brew with vanilla and the cream einspanner. They have some individual tables as well as a larger commutable and benches along the windows. There's a few outlets as well as free and fast wifi. Street/neighborhood parking. Music was on the loud side for me, but perhaps it's dependent on the day/barista. The service is great and they even bring the drinks to you once they're ready. I was a newbie and didn't know. In general, I wish the menu is more obviously visible vs just at the counter. I felt very overwhelemed here. I popped in on a Saturday afternoon to grab a matcha. The cafe was crowded, loud, the menu a bit confusing, and my friend's drink was wrong. The menu is quite detailed for the 4 different types of ceremonial matchas available, but with a giant line I rush ordered a random one just as tea. It came iced which I think brought out more of the bitter flavors of the tea. My friend ordered the sweeten matcha. They brought out a latte instead, but quickly made her drink. She enjoyed her drink, but there was no specifics on whether the matcha in her drink was ceremonial grade and which one. I don't see myself coming back here, but if getting the matcha, maybe try it hot if that's offered. read more

Been coming to this location for years. Staff is always friendly and inviting. You can tell they recognize their regular customers and are always catching up. The place can get busy during certain hours and it's not uncommon to see a line outside the door but they do a good job of moving the line quickly. They pay so much attention to their drinks and service and are always making sure your order meets expectations. I like to come here for their matcha but my other favorites are their Madagascar Vanilla Latte, their Latte, and from time to time, their pour over. The place does have seating but it can fill up quickly and lots of people like to bring laptops and work so it can be hard to find a seat sometimes. I constantly see dogs inside so if you're allergic or not okay with dogs, I would say it's best to take your order to go but other than that, it's a great place to enjoy a coffee or catch up with a friend. There is a parking lot next door but sometimes it's locked and other times it's open, but there is paid street parking available. read more

She's a serious coffee enthusiast who travels the world specifically to try different coffees, and she fully stands by this spot. That alone says a lot. Every drink I've tried has been consistently good. I've gone from their royal milk tea to espresso drinks and even their matcha, and everything hits. It really feels like the perfect place to grab a quality drink. Drinks can take a bit of time because it's always busy, and while there are tables inside, it fills up fast. The outdoor seating is great though. They have tables with umbrellas, which makes it an easy place to have conversations or get some work done. I've spent plenty of time working outside and it's a solid setup. I definitely recommend this place. I'd love to sit inside and hang out more, but it's usually packed. Still, I come here almost every day while walking my dog, and I never skip it. Honestly, the only downside is that it's so good it makes saving money very difficult. read more

I hate writing a bad review about a place that I really enjoy. But two days in a row the service was atrocious. I was given a free card, a free coffee card and I used it today and the same thing happened. My order was completely forgotten and I was told that I was it was forgotten, and they gave me another card and I said well I don't live here so this really doesn't help me much but thank you. The coffee is delicious. The volume of customers is I think more than they can handle. There is always a queue. I wanted to like this location so bad. I've been to another stereoscope before and had a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, this time was pretty opposite of that. (Scroll to bottom portion for drink review - continue from here for entire experience lol) Thankfully, you'll find street parking and a lot adjacent to the shop. That was pretty convenient and I'm very appreciative! Having a designated parking area for your business in LA is such a plus. The line was out the door and starting to curve around the corner upon arrival, which I had no issues with. I was actually expecting it to be that way for a Saturday morning ~10:30. At the entrance door, you'll find a QR code to view their menu and a sign that specifies a request for only 2 queuing parties allowed inside at a time. As I approached the counter, I was greeted by the cashier and one of the baristas. I was placing my order and asking the woman at the counter if she had a visual to show me the different size cups for my hot matcha. She seemed confused to my question. So I repeated myself. I guess she interpreted me asking for iced and gave me a little bit of attitude when explaining the ounces offered for both hot and iced drinks. Again, I specified that I'd like to see the size for a hot beverage. Then she went behind her to grab the cups. Thankfully she was paying better attention when I requested my other drink (iced). The energy from her was not the same as when I was first greeted, so it was off putting. Anywho, I go sit down on the bench in front of the bar to watch and patiently wait for my beverages. I noticed that the two women who ordered after me received their drinks before I did. In addition to that, one of the baristas handed me the hot matcha and said the iced latte will be out shortly. When she walked to the bar to check on the status of my second drink, I noticed her confusion as the other baristas were telling her that she actually grabbed a hot vanilla latte, not a hot matcha. They had some back and forth before she walked back over to me. She apologized and asked for me to hand the drink back. She proceed to hand it off to the customer it was intended for. I find this troubling and concerning, given that she didn't bother to check in with me or check the drink if it had been drank out of or tampered with. I've worked in food before and feel that is a safety/health risk. Thankfully, the customer requested it to be remade. That's what should've been done in the first place for that individual. After a minute or two, my correct drinks were then given to me by a different barista. He apologized and I went about my day. OKAY FINALLY, let's get into the actual drinks.. shall we? medium hot half sweet matcha - 4/5 very creamy, beautiful color, nice after taste and no graininess. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would order it again. I'm interested to know if it tastes as good iced. I'd love to try their other matcha variations since they're unsweetened and ceremonial grade. medium iced Madagascar vanilla latte - 2/5 espresso tasted burnt, latte was a bit watery. however, the Vanilla syrup is made in house and I could taste it. Wish it was stronger. I will pass on ordering this drink in the future. I was hoping they had a pistachio croissant today. Only saw almond. This coffee shop has been in my bookmarks for months now, so after a run in Echo Park, we swung by the place and finally tried it! I had the iced Madagascar vanilla latte with oat milk which boasts a nice blend of strong espresso, creamy milk, and sweet homemade vanilla syrup. Husband had strawberry matcha - it had bits and pieces of strawberry which was a sweet surprise, but it's kinda sad how the matcha tasted watered down (idk if it's an isolated event as all the reviews here suggest otherwise). I feel like their drinks are a little bit on the sweeter side, so if you have a sweet tooth, you'd love it. The baristas were sweet and helpful. Limited parking on their parking lot but there's a bunch of street parking around the area. LOVE the aesthetics, very minimal, very calm vibes.
