The strawberry sauce is incredible, and the ice cream and cream are also so good! I've come another time and tried their regular strawberry kakigori and the Halo Halo special. We ordered a Strawberry Shaved Ice, Banana Strawberry Chocolate Parfait and a Mochi Cloud Cone. Everything tasted delicious. Ingredients tasted fresh and while it was sweet, I feel like it wasn't overly so. The parfait had cornflakes along with fruit (bananas, strawberry, mandarin orange and a cherry). I was unsure about the cornflakes, but it actually worked adding another texture to the parfait. Everyone else enjoyed their dessert. There were a total of 5 in our party and it was more than enough to share. The have plenty of other options including dairy free, Kawaii Cups, GO TO cups, and drinks. The decor is cute. My group loved the art of various desserts liked shaved ice hanging around this little dessert cafe. We all enjoyed the art they put in their tables as well. Our favorite was probably the table with the ducks surrounding the polar bear. There is a fair amount of seats and tables were clean. Service was good, the ladies here were quite friendly. With the amount of detail and careful attention they put, I would say everything came out pretty quickly. One negative I can think of is the parking situation. The Convoy area can get very busy and parking can become scarce. They have a small amount of parking and do charge after 2 hours (if I'm not mistaken). It looks misleading because if you aren't paying close attention (and read the sign) you may just download the app and pay for parking when you don't need to. The only other negative I can think of is pricing. It is a little pricey here, but what isn't these days. I would say that portions are decent and most desserts could probably be shared. We like this place and will definitely return. 4.5 / 5: Desserts 4.5 / 5: Service 4 / 5: Cleanliness 4.3 / 5: Overall

WOW!! This place is legit! Happened to be in this area and was looking for great place to get some…read moreomurice and stumbled into this little gem of a place!! First, street parking only but don't let that deter you from coming coz every inch or foot that you spend walking to this place is all worth it. Secondly, love the ambiance. Reminds me a lot of those ikazaya pubs in Japan but a little more chic and modern. They have bar seating of about 10 and 6-8 tables inside. But they also have outdoor seating. So I came at exactly 11 am and I was the second guest and they sat me at the bar. By 11:30 am, the entire resto was full, not granting it was a Saturday morning but people prolly got smart to come here early before the lunch crowd gets bigger. So for the food, I had to order their Hayachi Omurice and Chef Soichi's Chicken karage and both were BOMB! 11/10 each! Love the flavor of the rice and nice touch of thin slices of meat and the egg was perfectly made. I just wished there were heapings of those egg. The sauce was slightly tangy but love the flavor. The other star of my meal was the karage. Prolly the Top 2 karage I've had. I liked how they sliced in lengthwise and there not too much coating. And it wasn't oily and very juicy inside. Well seasoned and it came with lemon wedges and kewpie mayo. All I did was sprinkle some Nanami Togarashi for an added umami flavor. Overall, this should be on your top 10 restos in San Diego. Service was excellent, the servers were all friendly and always smiles!! Kudos to you guys!! I'll be back for sure!!

Unique taiwanese shaved snow place. there's no other place like this in San Diego that i know of…read more It's a small business that has been around for at least a decade. Very busy friday/weekend nights, lines usually long but if you go weekdays it's better. the snow is made with real ingredients unlike other places that use powders/syrups for flavor. The blocks of snow are already flavored (think of it like a big block or ice cream, just shaved in layers). Service is also generally good! I would recommend getting any dairy based snow with condensed milk layered! it brings out the flavor. the non dairy flavors are like sorbet but also very tasty (i like the lychee or super lemon which tastes like frozen lemonade). if you pick a build your own bowl, it's weighed (snow or softserve) after you get toppings. I notice it's usually between $5-$10 obviously dependent on weight but the minimum is 4.50 so if you are below that, they'll just charge 4.50. I'd recommend this place if you want a lighter sweet treat! Other places can be heavy but because this is shaved, it's easier on the tummy. they do also have waffle creations that seem good for couples to share~ (my favorite is the strawberry shorty, it has cheesecake bites and fresh strawberries, the waffle, and vanilla softserve). they have taiyaki too but it's not like somi somi where there's icecream inside, it's just filled or plain (the nutella one is really good). also their thai tea drink is really good

They offer other attractive connections as well, mainly various soft server and waffle based treats. Service at the counter is speedy. I just wish they'd pause to clean the tables more frequently. It's quite off putting to be frustrated in the search of a clean table time and time again.

I loved this whole concoction! The creme brulee was firmer on top and towards the bottom it was a soft whip cream mousse type of texture. It was fabulous! I thoroughly enjoyed this dessert! The mango was sweet and savory, and the ice cream, I chose sticky rice mango flavor, it acted as a pallete cleanser for me. The ice cream wasn't sweet but refreshing! I really did enjoy this creme brulee. For 12$ I think this portion is enough for 3 people as its very rich and filling. The inside is very roomy and big. I loved the fake coconut tree in the middle. This is a nice place to hang out and be around all the mango goodness! The cashier and person who made my food was really nice too.. he was patiently waiting for me to order as I couldn't decide for quite some time.

The biggest issue for me was the flavor. It was surprisingly bland, even after adding the condensed milk on top. For how expensive it was, I expected a lot more flavor and honestly just didn't feel like I got my money's worth. I might give MNGO Cafe another try and try the boba, but I definitely won't be ordering the shaved ice again.

$28.73 all in for three orders: Short, Tall, and a Cone…read more Let's get the obvious part out of the way: there was a line. It was two storefronts long. It took us 43 minutes to get to the counter. Forty-three minutes. At that point, you have enough time to question your life choices, make several new friends, and convince yourself that gelato is technically a meal. This place isn't really set up like a typical ice cream shop. There's one register and two scoopers, and the scoopers seem to rotate through like Vegas blackjack dealers as they go through a very deliberate routine. Watching them work felt less like standing in line at an ice cream shop and more like being taken on a small culinary tour. And that's intentional. An's calls it a "flavor tour," offering guests a sample of every flavor before ordering. Their menu rotates every couple of weeks, and the gelato is made from scratch with fresh, local ingredients. There were seven menu items, but there's always eight flavors and they offer samples of everything. We arrived when there was a shift change, and the person behind the counter asked if we wanted to do the samples or just order. After waiting 43 minutes, do you think I wanted the samples? Hell yeah I did. At that point, I had earned my tiny cup of gelato. I truly appreciated the experience. It never felt like the staff was simply trying to get people through the line. They were explaining flavors, answering questions, and actually providing a service. The scoopers really are more like tour guides. During the wait outside, I walked over to the bottle shop on the corner and bought us some water. When I came back, someone from An's came outside and offered everyone in line a cup of water. Lol. Apparently they had already figured out that people standing in the sun on the sidewalk for 43 minutes might need hydration. But that's service. The parking situation is tight. I had to make a few circles before finding a spot, which meant my gelato pilgrimage had an appropriate amount of suffering attached to it. But then came the payoff. The product is excellent. Every flavor we tried was delicious, including the Phở, which I absolutely did not expect to like as much as I did. Somehow, it works as do all the flavors. The curators use ingredients that taste like they actually matter. The flavors are distinct, balanced, and thoughtfully constructed rather than just being unusual for the sake of being unusual. I went with the cone, which is by far the best value of the three options, and had Pienfu and Hampton. Pienfu is oolong with butterscotch peanut butter. Hampton combines dark chocolate, white chocolate, and butter cookie. Separately, both were fantastic. Together, these were even better. Would I wait 43 minutes again? Absolutely not. Would I happily come back and eat more of this gelato? Absolutely. There have to be some off-hours when I can walk in without joining a standing parade; and when I find that time, I'll be back. The flavors are creative without being gimmicky, the ingredients are top-notch, the staff actually engages with customers, and the whole thing feels like there's genuine care behind it. I just need to figure out what time to come back when everyone else is asleep!
