Earthbar scratches a need I have for a smoothie but sometimes I look at the price and I ask is it worth it? The team is kind and the parking is great. Sometimes I cannot fathom the cost of my smoothie matching the quality but maybe that's me. I notice the advertised macro nutrients but also the amount of smoothie left over in the blender and can't help but wonder, is this truly x grams of protein or x calories. I absolutely love this Earthbar on 4th Street and end up here pretty often. The consistency, quality, and genuinely kind staff are what keep me coming back. The menu has a lot of range which I'm grateful for: coffee, smoothies, bowls, toast, and everything is customizable with different boosts and swaps depending on what you need that day! I always feel good about what I order here. I usually go for the Power Shred smoothie since it has a really solid protein to calorie ratio (love the sprinkle of coconut on top too), and their avocado ricotta toast is so good (I always ask for pesto on it). The Original Fit Frappe reminds me of a frappe from bigger chain coffee spots, but it feels more balanced and made with better ingredients. I've been to a few other Earthbar locations and this one is definitely my favorite, the ambiance is clean and open, and the service is just consistently kind. Big shoutout to Victoria and Dom! As someone who works in service, I definitely notice that kind of care in places I go to, and they always make the experience feel easy and welcoming. It's nice to have them as familiar faces there. If you're serious about the health quotient of your smoothies, then this is definitely the shop for you. I think I'm more of a dilettante when it comes to smoothies because I use questionable decision criteria like which one has the least number of calories. Here they offer fifteen smoothies, a couple of superfood bowls, a smoothie-bowl hybrid called a booster, and three gluten-free toasts. I came in and blindly ordered the $12.95 Slim Down, a blend of strawberry, pineapple, coconut water, their plant protein, and something called the Slim Down herbal tonic (Photo 6). At 240 calories, it was the lowest calorie option, so I decided to give it a try. It wasn't as bland as I feared it would be, and it certainly wouldn't be mistaken for anything that looks similar at a boba shop. However, my conscience was clear. Place is very aesthetically pleasing and has a clean look to it. Staff is kind and smoothies came out quickly. However if you are looking for a sweet treat that tastes good this is not the place. It's more of a health bar so their smoothies do have lots of benefits and additives like biotin but do taste healthy. They are also more on the pricier side we paid $30 for 2 smoothies. They have lots of fun snacks and drinks you can also choose from. read more

Came here for a post run smoothie! Got the flax master to share with my sister. Love the thick texture and refreshing açaí flavor. The 24g of protein is also a big plus. Interior was so cute and service was speedy. Great for a warm sunny day and to take on a stroll around fourth street. read more

Hella expensive smoothies for something you can probably make at home if you had the same ingredients. I couldn't justify paying $15 for a smoothie on a daily, maybe as a once in awhile treat. The cashier was friendly, though, and was able to honor my discount card I received a couple days ago from an event. I'm not sure if I'll come back simply because of the price tag. Super cute smoothie bar in a prime shopping area in Berkeley. Aesthetically it's very clean and put together. There's no seating inside but there appears to be a couple of tables and communal areas outside. Service was good, I came early in the morning and was greeted and helped immediately resulting in my things being made to order. I like that some customization is allowed (I.e. I ordered a golden milk latte and asked for no macaroni which was accommodated). The golden milk had all the right flavors, but it wasn't as creamy as I normally like which is consistent with a proper latte. This had the consistency of a tea (if that makes any sense). The base of the açai super berry bowl was quite watered down. It was smoothie consistency and was relatively bland for an açai bowl. The person who took my order and put together my bowl seem to be not properly trained. I asked to swap out the almond milk base (I'm allergic to almonds - they make my tongue and throat itchy). They didn't know what other milk options they had. They told me they could swap it out for hemp milk but I later noticed that they don't clean out the blenders in between, so when my mouth got itchy later, it's probably because I got someone's almond milk açai bowl leftovers. I'm currently on a health journey and have been trying new juice spots everyday for the past two weeks, I was around the area and EarthBar was near by. I ordered the "Detox Greens" and Omg it was AMAZING! I also ordered the "Glow Up" which had rose petals in it (how cool!) amazing as well. Now my parents are vegetarian and we used to have open face avocado sandwiches which is essentially a knockout a toast but that was a long time ago and they were good, but you know nothing to brag about. So I never understood the whole avocado toast thing. But this one was good, and he had a mash and I usually stay away from those because I don't like eating something I don't know what's in it. I thought it would feature sliced avocado. But I have to say it was good. It had a red sauce on it, which I don't remember reading about in the description but it was good and added a nice kick. Now I have to say this is a bit picky but this is called the earth bar and the sandwich came in plastic. I understand the bowls are probably not their specialty but there just wasn't a lot of base or topping options. If you like to customized your bowls, I probably wouldn't come here. I'm torn on how to rate this place because when it's good, it's great. But it's so often not good. I love their green bowls. It has a great flavor, great toppings, filling without being heavy, not too sweet. I will go out of my way for this bowl. But the main issue is they're just so unreliable. Like really, who is running this place? Their hours are already limited, but it seems they're always closed even when they're supposed to be open. They closed the entire July 4th weekend, which I didn't realize because online it showed them as open. So when I drove there just to get a bowl, I found them closed. What food place closes for an entire weekend (3 days including the 4th)? They also always seem to be out of things. Once they were out of cacao nibs, which is one of my favorite parts of the green bowl. First world problems, but when you're paying $16 for a freaking smoothie it would be nice to have all the ingredients you went there for. This also isn't something that really goes bad, so how do you run out? Seems like more of a lack of organization issue. Last time I went, finally finding them open, they were out of...drumroll...BANANAS. So about half their menu was off the table. I'm sorry but how does a smoothie place run out of bananas? And could someone not just run down the street to buy some more? Bananas are so cheap and you can literally store them in the freezer. But I guess they would rather lose customers than pay a few more dollars for extra bananas, or make an effort to manage their stock. I walked back out of the store and so did 2 people who had walked in just ahead of me. This isn't a convenient location for me so at this point I'm just going to look elsewhere to find a nice smoothie bowl, and will only go back here if I happen to be near 4th St. And if they happen to be open. Warby Parker next door had a 15 minute wait for my appointment with their optometrist so I decided to kill time and my bank balance with a $12.45 low glycemic "Rockstar" blended juice. After my morning workout, this was welcomed whole-heartedly by my stomach (if stomaches could have hearts...) and it tasted much better than its blue-green colour (caused by the blue spirulina) would suggest. This is my go to spot when I'm at work and craving a smoothie or açaí bowl! It used to be Project Juice. Yes, it is pricy for a smoothie but it's not just your regular smoothie. They use fresh ingredients. I have tried their Flax Master, Strawberry Maca, and Berry Blaze. All delicious! I love the consistency of their smoothies. It's also not too sweet. You can also add additional boosts to your smoothies like collagen for an extra fee. Out of the acai bowls, I enjoy the Green Bowl the most but not to say the other bowls aren't yummy. The bowls comes with your choice of toppings, which are the classic, superfood crunch, or paleo. My favorite topping to go with the Green Bowl is the paleo because of the cacao nibs, almonds, and bee pollen. They also have coffee, juices, toasts, and a bunch of healthy snacks. Delicious, yet spendy protein drinks that I'm unfortunately addicted to. I originally discovered Earthbar @ LAX T6 (I thought it used to be an actual cafe near West Hollywood). Then Project Juice on 4th St in Berkeley morphed into an Earthbar. I was grateful to have it nearby when I was going through cancer treatment a few years ago as they offer a wide variety of healthy juice and heavy protein drink options. Lots of good herbal tonics and add ons to boost the overall healthiness of the smoothie, too. My only complaints are the cost and the fact they still do not offer compostable cups - or straws, for that matter. I think if they're going to call the company "earth"bar and offer special drinks to support environmental causes during April, they could at least follow through with some earth friendly cups & straws. I always ALWAYS come here for the açaí bowls! The shakes are amazing, don't get me wrong. But the açaí bowls are to die for! Everything tastes so fresh and farm to table! I have tried to re-create the bowl at home using all of the ingredients but it is NOT the same. It doesn't even come close to the quality from Earthbar. I love their almond butter, and the customizable toppings for add on. There's lots of boosts and a variety of holistic additions. The staff is usually really friendly and quick. I know sometimes they get really busy and bombarded, but they are all quick worker bees. Everything gets out speedy and efficiently. However, I did remove 1 star due to staffing issues. Sometimes if there's not enough coverage, they close early without notice. I understand that things are out of our control...but one day I ordered for a pick up and paid online...once I arrived there was a handwritten note that said "closed due to staffing issues". It was a hassle to try and find a contact person for a refund, but once I did they rectified the situation. The manager (I think it was the manager) was really nice and understanding. They explained what happened and made extra effort to make me whole. I included this in my review for others who are ordering for pickup, it might be helpful to call ahead before hand just to double check that they are open and available.
