I went in for a basic oil change and car inspection. The staff was cordial, courteous, and prompt, which I really appreciated. Customer service was definitely a strong point. However, I did have some concerns about the thoroughness of the inspection. I was able to point out a few things myself that were initially missed, and it seemed like the technician performing the inspection may have been new, as they needed guidance from more experienced team members. Because of this, I don't feel completely confident that the inspection was as comprehensive as it should have been. Unfortunately, I don't currently have the time or resources to seek a second opinion, so I'll have to move forward and hope everything is in good shape. Fingers crossed.

I was incredibly impressed by the expertise and troubleshooting diligence exhibited by Kermit and the team at SHA. As a female, I usually hate speaking with auto shops because you either get dismissed or talked down to. Quite the contrary! Kermit walked me through the issue, was transparent along the way, showed me photos to review the work that had been done, and exhibited excellent customer service. They allowed us time to decide if it was worth fixing and were creative about getting the costs to something more affordable but ultimately I agreed to have all but one item fixed. I really appreciated that I wasn't given grief for wanting to fix this old beauty instead of calling it quits and also appreciated their confidence in doing this amount of work to make it like new. Overpriced, dishonest, late and shoddy work…read more We had the misfortune of having a car break down on a Saturday, transmission, and they were the only place open that was within distance. It took them a week longer to get the work done than we were originally told. Once they finally installed the transmission, we were told that it came with a faulty sensor, and that they would have to get the part from Honda. They then charged us for the faulty sensor that came with the transmission -- almost $300. The initial quote for a new transmission was $10,000 parts and labor. They said that they could get a certified, refurbished one and drop the price to closer to $8,000. We chose to go with the certified refurbished transmission (while we were waiting for the work to be done, 4 hours after we showed up -- and it was still the next day before they finished it -- the manager was talking to us and saying that a brand new transmission for the car would have been $16,000 -- even though 2 weeks before he had quoted us $10,000). The final bill, with the other things they added on, was $9,700 (which turns out to be significantly more than what we were told and more than other shops would charge). They also told us a list of things that needed to be dealt with that were problems with the car. I was curious simply because I heard three other customers being told that they had similar issues that needed to be dealt with. Driving the car the next day, there was a weird squeaking sound. We took it to another shop to see if they could diagnose the problem -- a number of the bolts holding the transmission were loose! They tightened them up and the sound disappeared. Not only was the work very late and overpriced, it was shoddy. We also asked this shop to check the other issues that Saul's Autotek had said were issues that needed to be addressed, and we were told that those "issues" were fine.

They gave me video's/documentation of their inspection and discovered that the oil plug was not properly tightened. They Steam cleaned the mess in the engine bay and surrounding areas. Then they replaced the oil plug and gasket, filled it with the proper oil and inspected the engine bay to ensure everything was up to spec. With my wife being disabled this could have turned into a very bad situation. With their video and documentation that was given to me I was able to present the evidence to their competitor for a refund of everything involved. Thank you Christian Brothers Automotive.

We got the truck back 16 days later and had air conditioning for one day, then back to blowing hot air again... he brought it back.... They finally put the dye in and found the problem... exactly what he told them to begin with. They fixed it.... At a cost. He asked how they found the "problem" the first time... using soapy water as a $200 diagnostic.... There is some shadiness going on there.... They tried to over charge him from the first time we got the truck back... luckily he is a very calm guy and voiced his disbelief, they finally gave him an appropriate price after nearly an hour of question and answer/ "negotiating". They kept disappearing behind a door like used car salesmen... shady.

The technician told me that Ford had filled my transfer case with the wrong fluid and that it was leaking. This was surprising, as the service at Ford had been completed just one month and three days prior. To be safe, I took the fluid sample back to Ford. They reviewed both the sample and their service records and confirmed that the correct fluid had been used. I also had an independent mechanic evaluate it, and they confirmed there was absolutely nothing wrong. I was also told there was a leak, but I have seen no evidence of any leaking fluid where the vehicle is parked. This experience caused unnecessary stress and wasted time getting second opinions. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to verify any major claims made here before taking further action.

I was not told that there would be a Diagnostic Fee which ended up being $75.48, Paul, the service representative whom I spoke with told me my vehicle needed over $1500 worth of work and when I mentioned that this amount was more that the vehicle was worth he was rude and told me to "either fix the car or replace it" and the quote I received was higher than other shops for the same service. What I don't get is why I was not told about the Diagnostic Fee and got stuck paying it to retrieve my vehicle, why the Shop Teacher thought Checkpoint was so great and why Paul didn't just break down the amount for the brakes but instead tried to upsell me for all this additional work! I feel I got seriously scr****!!!
