I have been going to this restaurant since I was a young young kid in the late 90's probably close to win they first opened, and 1 thing I can always count on: excellence. extreme excellence. the food is ALWAYS the absolute best, and I have ordered many options. I moved away to Clarendon Hills, but my mom still lives near by & so today I was in the area & stopped by. Something I have ALWAYS loved about this restaurant is the fish tank, & I noticed it has recently been restocked with fresh Koi. Which, made me sad because it really made me realize how old I am. Ordered my food, General Taos, chicken Fried rice & crab rangoons, my old usual. Drove all the way home, and opened & absolutely devoured my meal. Before you walk into the restaurant you see it's not that clean and then you walk into it looks ok. It could use some updating. We sat at our table waiting for our family. We were served water and then for 20 mins, no one came to ask if we wanted drinks until our rest of our family sat down. The server was acting busy, but the restaurant only had two other tables. Although lots of take out! 9 of us, we ordered a lot of food and it was A LOT. Mostly rice and noodles very little meat in the dishes. Everyone said the food was good. Basic Chinese food. I had the chicken fried rice and I tried a pot sticker. Tasted like all other foods I've had in the past. We were given cookies and fortune cookies to finish. Bathrooms were dirty and regular paper towels were provided. Didn't see a normal towel dispenser. Would I return? Nah. Maybe I would order out if I lived I the area. But I don't know if there are better places in the area. Which I'm guessing no. That's why there are so many take-outs. read more

It's such a refreshing change to dine at a family-owned restaurant where not everything is à la carte! East China Inn in Aurora delivers that warm, welcoming vibe with a menu full of value and flavor. We stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the variety of lunch specials available We kicked things off with the pot stickers--six pan-fried pork dumplings that were crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Our server promptly brought us water and a pot of hot tea, which added a comforting touch to the meal. I ordered the Kung Bao Chicken, including your choice of soup. I went with the Hot and Sour, which was rich, tangy, and served piping hot. Just as I was finishing my soup, my entrée arrived...perfect timing. The dish was flavorful, well-portioned, and satisfying. Throughout the meal, the staff was attentive, checking in often and keeping our water glasses full without being intrusive. Dined in here 2 weeks ago and everything was fantastic. Great service and large portions. Today we ordered to go, and it was very disappointing. They weren't busy yet the guy that gave me my food was very short to the point of being rude. I got the food home and the General Tso's Chicken was breaded chicken chunks thrown on top of very minimal sauce. The rice was the smallest portion I've ever seen, and we received no hot mustard or sweet and sour sauce. The Won Ton soup and vegetable soup were both good. If we dine here again it will be inside, I'll never order to go from here again. read more

I've been staying out in this area and was looking for a good place to have a Chinese meal . Came recommended so decided to give it a try. I did a lunch carryout of sweet-and-sour pork, eggroll, and a fortune cookie. I could not believe all the food I got for a little over $9! I ate till I was stuffed and still have enough for two more meals. There is inside dining, which looks comfortable. The waiting area is clean. The people that work there are very pleasant. Use to be good years ago. Came in for the lunch special. It does not come with egg rolls. Service is blah. The rice was not the same as the pictures I seen on Yelp with sprouts and veggies. It was literally fried rice with shredded chicken (no mention of chicken). I suspect they just make a large batch for lunch and you get what you get. I ordered orange chicken with fried rice. The chicken was cold and the rice was hot. I told the server the chicken was cold and they put the entire plate in the microwave which made the rice flaming hot and the chicken warm. Also the chicken is not white meat (see picture). It's dark and white mixed and honestly it's kind of gray which makes me question if it's chicken. You are probably wondering why I didn't complain. Have you ever been somewhere that was so bad you know a complaint won't help you? That's where I'm at with it. I will never go back. I use to love this place like 15 years ago. There are too many corners being cut and I don't want any part of it. When I went to pay I was ready for the receptionist to ask me how my food was. I picked up my order, and it was ready in an impressive 2-3 minutes--kudos for the speed but as you can imagine, the speed absolutely didn't equal quality. The fried rice was disappointingly bland, lacking any real flavor. The General Tso's chicken was a letdown, with tasteless barely cooked chicken pieces coated in a sparse, oddly tangy sauce that just didn't work. We decided to try East China Inn, because lately we have been less than impressed with our nearby Chinese restaurant. I ordered the Sweet and Sour Shrimp, my wife had the Tomato Green Pepper and Beef dinner with a side of Pot Stickers. The container with the Sweet and Sour sauce was only 3/4 full, not enough for the order of shrimp and there were very little peppers, pineapple or tomatoes in it. The beef dinner was on the bland side, not good or bad... more meh! The food was OK, not outstanding. The Pot Stickers were a little strange as the "dough" was twice as thick as the ones we are used to. On a positive note, the Almond Cookies were very good. Perhaps we caught them on an off night, because friends rave about how good the food is. For us, we are still looking for an excellent Chinese restaurant for takeout or delivery. read more

East China Inn is my favorite Chinese restaurant. Period. It is so tasty and always hits the spot! Ordering is easy whether you do it online or through the phone, and they also run coupon specials as well. I highly recommend you order the Cho Cho. I've searched for it at every other Chinese place I've tried, and cannot find anything like it. It is so good and I've recommended it to everyone I talk Chinese food with. Easy China has always been great with modifications too. I don't like mushrooms at all, and they won't include them if I ask them not to. I decided to try the Aurora location of East China after frequenting the Batavia Randall Road location for many years. I was expecting the same taste and quality, but that was not the case. I ordered chicken with broccoli and the broccoli was very hard and dish had barely any taste. When I order from the Batavia location, it has a very nice taste with garlic and this had no taste at all. Very disappointed. The chicken fried rice didn't taste much like anything either. The eggroll was not warm when I got it. I think I will stick with the Batavia Randolph Road location. read more

I've never raved about Chinese food and don't eat it too often because I didn't care for it much when I did but I wanted some tonight. I downloaded app back onto phone because I just have to say it was excellent!! The beef was so tasty and tender and the sauce sooo good. Basically everything was delicious, I kept saying Mmm,haha. I tried to give this restaurant a second chance (Aurora location). A while ago, they had been slacking a lot on their cooking so I stopped ordering from them. However, I decided to give them a second chance. We ordered food from here and gosh, it was just very disappointing to say the least. Their mongolian beef had at least 10 Lbs of salt, it was unedible! The sweet and sour chicken pieces were 'raw', the breading was uncooked and some of the chicken was pink. We just threw it out. The fried rice had lots of burnt chunks of rice. I don't understand, we're paying customers, why service is just lacking big time!! Especially nowadays when so many struggle to make ends meet, and yet businesses do the bare minimum to keep customers coming back. I will skip this place and save my $$ by going elsewhere! read more

I've been frequenting this establishment for many years but never took the time to post a review. Our family has been very satisfied with both the quantity and quality of the dishes served. From the Kung Pao Beef, to the Hot & Sour Soup, to the Pot Stickers, to the Sesame Chicken we've never been disappointed. The service provided here has also been top notch. We have been patronizing this restaurant for over 15 years and it used to be great. In recent years, both the taste and quality seem to have been nose-diving. Tonight, the wonton soup tasted like nothing more than doughy blobs in chicken broth. The crab rangoon was very chewy without even a hint of crab. ECInn has got its groove back. This place was my go-to for years for great Chinese food, but then they got a little iffy and I quit going. Well, I'm back and the food is fantastic. They have the best egg rolls I've ever had. Just a little sweet and sour sauce and you're good to go. The crab rangoon is good, but not great. Their Chinese vegetable soup is delicious and everything is well priced. Now the entrees.....the portions are good and I special order everything and they're great about it. I also have to say their shrimp FR is the best I've ever had. They also have an entree called East China basket which has an edible potato bowl. You put the entree in the bowl and then you eat the entree with the bowl....delicious. read more

Aside from the food, which was fine, the service was substandard. The waiter who served us was cross, short, impatient, and rude. I was under the impression that we weren't welcome here, or he just didn't want to serve us. And, it wasn't just us! He was rude to a Hispanic family who was sitting adjacent to us. I don't know what his problem was, but he should be fired. We will NOT be coming back here, and I advise you to not patronize such a place. read more

We've been here several times with several people. We've enjoyed food there, for take out, and delivery. Service is always fantastic. They're always attentive, friendly, and accommodating when we've needed help for whatever reason. We've never had an issue with service. Everybody from the person who greets us to the door to the delivery person is friendly and has a smile. The server is always an absolute delight. The food is always good, whether it's served there or taken home (and they've never delivered the wrong order, which is a nice plus). My wife loves the wonton soup broth and my daughter loves the wontons. Personally I really enjoy the honey sesame chicken and the beef with broccoli. Our roommate really likes the Mongolian beef. That said, everything we've ordered from there has been expected and tasty. It's late and I'm tired as I'm writing this so I'll just end here: It's always clean at the restaurant, every time they've told us there would be a long wait for delivery they were wrong, and their delivery guy deserves to be tipped really well. We really enjoy this place when compared to most of the other local Chinese places and would recommend it. read more

Their food is very good. Their lunch specials are very reasonable. My favorite dish is shrimp Kow. It has lots of vegetables and everything is very fresh and hot. There are plenty of shrimp. The flavor is great. The cost is about $7.50, which includes soup, rice, and hot tea. The staff is very friendly. I would give this place a five star rating, except that last time I came no one took my order for over 10 minutes even though they were not busy at all.
