I'm giving them a two star review because their field crew is great and respectful. However their administration team is awful. We reached out to them and 3 other certified arborists to get a quote on pruning 6 trees and removing 2 including stump grinding. East Coast was selected due to reviews from my local Facebook group and their middle of the pack pricing. When we selected to work with them, we revised the work to be 7 trees pruned and 1 removed including stump grinding. After confirming everything on June 13th, we didn't hear back so we followed up on June 17th. June 18th they said they would be out some time the next week. By July 2nd, we hadn't heard anything and had to follow up again asking for an actual date to be scheduled. The crew arrived on the scheduled date and completed the work as expected. The crew was great as mentioned before. When they completed the work, I reviewed it that evening and noticed two things. 1) The removed tree stump was not ground. 2) The yard/grass was heavily torn up. I was a bit shocked the yard damage was never warned or mentioned throughout the entire process. I decided to disregard it but definitely keep that in mind if you hire them and actually care about your yard. I reached out to them about the stump grinding and the proceeded to inform me they couldn't do it on the hill! Not once during this entire process did they ever mention that being a concern. The other 3 companies didn't even mention it as a concern. As a result I informed them the cost needed to be adjusted since they didn't do that work. I raised my concerns on July 11th and it went ignored until they sent me the invoice on July 20th. 9 days and not a word from them. I proceeded to inform them I would not pay until my complaints were resolved. They promptly replied to that (of course!) and said the owner would reach out. July 21st and I haven't heard anything further so I'm writing this review to help raise awareness and try to make them take this serious. I will update if/when they resolve this. read more

I have to give props to East Coast Arborist (ECA) for transforming my yard into something I never thought possible. My yard began with multiple maple trees where the huge above ground roots engulfed 2/3 of my yard. They were so bad that I had to use a weed whacker just to cut my grass in many areas of the yard. In addition, the previous owners had carved out large landscaped beds without ever planting anything, and in turn became weed beds. I contracted ECA to remove three trees plus the stumps; an extra stump from a tree I previous cut down; grind the roots in the yard and grade it as well; finally, lay new sod. Initially they planned on four days however it took them only 3. Also, not only did they do the work that was proposed and agreed upon, they went above and beyond by streamlining all of the weed beds into much more manageable beds, mulching all of the landscaped areas, cleaning up existing brush, and trimming the bushes. They were prompt, tidy (leaving no mess behind), courteous, and professional. There were no hidden costs and the costs they did provide were very competitive, in fact beating many. For what I received, not only with the work they performed in my yard, but also good customer service and friendly staff, as well as a phenomenal price, I would recommend ECA to anyone. Also and in parallel, my neighbor used ECA to remove a tree and trim a few others. He, too, was satisfied. Thanks to John and his staff for providing such outstanding service!!! read more

I needed to have a large tree removed from my front yard. The roots were creeping toward my house's foundation and it needed to go. The estimate was very reasonable and well worth the price after the job was completed! The crew was on time, very professional and did a GREAT job! I even had neighbors comment on the way the crew protected the lawn and areas surrounding the tree when removing it. They also ground the stump and roots for me and covered it with topsoil, seed and straw. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this local, small business for all tree related needs! read more

East Coast Arborists recently removed 20-25 dead trees from our property.........mostly ash trees that fell victim to the ash borer. Very pleased with the excellent work of ECA crew. Many of the trees were located between two yard fences that required careful removal and for the trees to be removed from the top down. The ECA crew removed and chipped up the trees and left the area in pristine shape. Very pleased with their work and the reasonable cost. Leadership and crew were very responsive and great to work with. I've recommenced ECA to two other friends who have also been pleased with their work. read more

Used the 3 excellent reviews on this business as a sure-fire success for a few tree issues we needed to take care of. Unfortunately, this was the first time ever that the Yelp reviews were inaccurate for me. I contacted Terry last Fall and he came pretty quickly to assess the project and make recommendations. We agreed to wait until Spring after the trees bloomed. He confirmed in March that we'd be on the April schedule. When I didn't hear anything, I assumed that the crazy weather we'd been having had caused him delays. But by mid-July I assumed that something had gotten dropped. I contacted him to find out what was going on and never got a response. I waited 1-2 weeks and then sent another email and called him. No response. 2 stars because he started out very good and was very nice to work with. But in the end I'm left with a job that is getting worse and now need to start all over again with estimates. read more

I have been a very happy customer of East Arborist for several years. The business was originally owned by Terry who retired last year. Jonathan took over and he and his crew did not disapppoint. They are very competent, courteous and friendly. They did a great job trimming multiple trees in my yard. Cleaned up diligently. I watched them taking down a huge dead Ash tree in my neighbors yard without any collateral dammage. Amazing! Pricing is fair. I highly recommend them and will use them not only for my tree care but also for other landscaping needs. read more

Excellent! Working with Terry was a breeze. He is very professional in his approach. He initially came for the planning as scheduled and on time. He explained very clearly what his recommendations were and then we agreed with the plan. The execution process was exactly as he had mentioned, and there were no surprises. Through the process, whenever I called him, he returned my call and we were able to discuss all aspects in a timely manner. His charges are also reasonable compared to few others I called. read more

Terry and his crew do an amazing job - they thinned out two oak trees, did a major trimming on two old holly bushes, and cleaned up some foundation plantings for us. Clean up was top notch. Terrific work - I recommend him 100%! read more

We emailed Terry to come give us a quote for work needed with our huge magnolia tree, he was very prompt came to our house made some great suggestions, we ended up doing what he suggested, had our magnolia trimmed, a tree removed at the front of the house and another trimmed.
