Best barber shop on the East Coast! Quick quality cuts

Holy shit. I have no idea how the ratings here are high. My mom is inpatient at a local hospital. I needed a cut since I've been spending all my time at the hospital and haven't been close to home. Saw the decent ratings and when I got there, I thought I was in the wrong spot. It looks like a run down high school garage hang out with one barber working. I walked in. They had two people behind their glass desk who didn't say a word to me. There was no direction, no greeting and no idea what I was supposed to do or where I was in line so I just sat and waited. Patiently. For almost an hour. Still no word said to me. The ONE barber that was cutting hair was stopping and talking to all of his friends around him and wasting so much time. There was still another ahead of me. I just wasted over an hour that I can't get back now when I could have been spending it in and out of a kinder, more professional barber shop and back at the hospital already with my sick mother. Now instead, I don't have time to get a hair cut anywhere else and I get to go back to the hospital and explain this crap situation. Do better. Also, the haircuts he was giving out - because he wasn't barely paying attention were mediocre at best. His fades didn't look tight at all and because he was barely paying attention, because he kept stopping to talk multiple times - each cut took forever. read more

Wow! Today was my first time going to this barber shop. I went here after looking at reviews for barbershops in the Cambridge area...and it wasn't an easy choice. Overall, I'm 100% glad I came here and I'm happy to come back. The owner and barber, CJ (or CeeJay), is skilled at giving fades and using sissors. If you need a fade, line up and or trim at the top, try CJ out. He has been cutting hair for 30 years and it shows in his work. I recommend scheduling an appointment since he'll take you over walk-ins. But he only schedules appts on every hour (ex: 9, 10 or 11..etc). Thiis is to accommodate walkins. By the way, he took his time to ensure I got what I wanted. I didn't communicate well about my fade, and I wanted more trimmed. He was more than happy to do it even though it took an extra 10 minutes. Love my hair! I will be going back for my haircuts. Since I recently moved here, he will be earning my trust for the time being (this is a big process for me). Other feedback for CJ: I've gotten fades before and they didn't hurt as much. I'm not sure if you are using a different technique since I'm not a barber but it felt at certain moments that you were really digging into my skin on the sides. There was no pain or redmarks afterwards, so no big deal. And I completely understand if this is the procedure for fades; I've just never felt this before. Thanks a million, CJ. read more

I went to East Coast for the first time a few years ago and now I refuse to go anywhere else. CJ is a good guy and can cut your hair faster and better then your current barber- period. Has a clean comfortable environment and the barber is a good guy. I would definitely say its worth it to call ahead. There is a $5.00 walk in fee. My 23 month old son just had his first barbershop haircut and CJ did a great job. CJ was patient, professional, and very clearly had experience working with toddlers. CJ was able to give my son a great haircut in accordance with our specifications and he did it very quickly while my husband sat in the chair with my son on his lap and I circled around singing songs, reading books, and offering snacks to my crying son. The shop was clean, friendly, and the price was also great. We would highly recommend CJ to anyone and will be going back. read more

One of the best haircuts and experiences I've had in any place. I travel a lot and always have to find a new barber. I was very lucky to find East Coast. C was great, very friendly and welcoming to everyone, regulars or new customers. He is quick and skilled, but be warned if you come at the wrong time you will WAIT. I did a Yelp search and read about this place. Great reviews. Upon arrival, I found a small, no frills barber shop with one barber. I went in and was greated by the barber, who was the owner. He was very professional and provided excellent customer service. He took the time to listen to me on how I wanted my hair cut. His attention to detail was outstanding.
