Let me start off by stating the fact I don't leave reviews good or bad. With that being said I felt compelled to leave a review for Lex the barber. I walked in with my son last Wednesday needing a haircut for an event the next day. Lex took care of me with no hesitation. The cut was flawless and gave some great suggestions along with tips to address my bald spots. Like anything in life you get what you pay for. Nothing but high grade A plus cuts around this joint. I would suggest making appointment's when attending. My 4 year old was content sipping his beverage and lounging on the couch while daddy got a cut. Great warm and professional atmosphere. Jaber is probably the 20th or so Barber but I've taken my husband too and he is the last. This place is like a spa for men, the decor is amazing Ambiance is definitely set to be relaxing. It's easy to get appointments, I don't know how much a regular haircut and lineup is but my husband gets his haircut and his beard and it comes up to about 50 bucks. 10 out of 10 recommend read more

Just friendly suggestion . For the price of service , I maybe suggest a little interaction with your customers . There was minimal communication with barber. Vibe with your clients . I believe connecting with your customers is key, builds a relationship & you will want to return possibly as a regular . Usually at end of a hair cut , barber will hold mirror , spin you around , show you the back of hair cut . Nothing .. I had to request him to show me what back looked like . Not even a bit of hair product to show final look. I believe I paid for a beard cut . Not sure what I received . Again not the best communication. I had been here a few times before and had decent experiences. However, I just had an awful experience and will not be coming back. I booked a scissor cut, which is $65 before tip. The barber got through my cut in about 20 minutes, which I thought was odd, as it usually takes twice as long (and the website says as much). I get home and realize he barely did anything to the back, and my neck was untouched. My girlfriend fixed it with our own grooming tools. I understand that everyone has bad days, but when customers are paying such a high price, I think the barbers should be able to put forth a basic effort. Will not be coming back. read more

I don't think I've been to a nicer looking barbershop in my life. MBL exudes class - the aesthetics are truly a sight to behold. I've visited two of the three locations, the Financial District and Arsenal Yards. AY is my preference due to free parking. Lex (owner) earned my trust on the first visit, the rest is pretty much history; I've been going to Lex for a couple of months now and what I can say without a doubt is that he's a master at his craft. Thought I'd give them a try even though the prices are high given that the service looks better than most shops. The service was better at first, check in was easy and the barber was ready when I got there. But the haircut was one of the worst I ever had. His hand slipped and took off a chunk of my mustache. He tried to cover it with touch up spray. When I asked how long that would last, he said about five days if I don't wash or touch it. A small spot on the top of my head is one thing but how am I not gonna touch or wash my mouth for five days. He didn't offer a discount or anything. Even before that he was giving me a haircut I didn't ask for. You have to pre pay and I paid for a fade and shave. He was leaving my beard even though we also spoke about it. Maybe he's still learning or maybe it was a bad day. Either way, this place is too expensive for that kind of service. Skip this place but if you give them a try, stay away from Frankie. read more

After searching around, and not loving any of the barber shops downtown, I happened to find these guys. 100% recommend going here. It's a new shop that opened mid Covid (hence the 6 reviews). Was really clean and had cool vintage decor. The barber I had, Lex, was a super nice guy, absolute pro at cutting hair, and knew exactly what I wanted. I walked in. A nice lady at the front informed me that they do take walk in's but they are busy, and can wait if I would like. I take a seat and in about 3 mins I get seated. I explain I just want a beard trim and to edge up sides and back of a fade. Upon finishing they attempted to charge me $120. I refused. They said I would have to speak to the owner. The owner mentioned something about the faux hawk hairstyle I have not being standard so it's $120. They eventually dropped it down to $80. Still overpriced for a edge up. This place definitely tried to scam me. I spent time telling the barber that I want just a edge and trim. They don't have pricing posted anywhere. And the website is down so I couldn't even reference pricing. Insane walk down the street and go somewhere else. For a while I was looking for a good Barbershop for my son and I and I came across a post from Marvelous Lounge on Instagram, I decided to try it because all the other Barbershops I've been to have been messing up my beard and my hairline and also my son's hairline so I figured why not. It was definitely a good decision, top notch service from beginning to end. I was able to book my appointment online, was able to find somewhere to park with a breeze and when I arrived with my son we were greeted like we've been going there for a long time (we've been going to for a little over 3 months now). I would not mind paying so much money for a haircut if it was a complete haircut and exceeded the skill of an average barber. Apparently you pay for each section of a haircut here, so you are charged separately for the top and the sides. A regular mediocre haircut that you could get anywhere else for less than $40 max is $120+ here. The staff are friendly but when it comes to the hair they are greedy or lazy, dont care, or just dont have the skill for this price range. It was really disappointing. For this price you could go to a hair salon instead of a barber and they will wash, cut, and dye your hair and it will look fantastic. Its just unreasonable to say the least. read more

Had to pay the entire service fee plus tips in order to make an appointment. It was already a red flag. The barber was polite, however, the actual haircut was very basic and it was not nearly as advertised. It was way overcharged for simple clipper work. The barber said that he could do what I needed and it turned out just some Supercuts stuff and he actually doesn't know how to do some scissor work. Strongly recommend avoiding this place if you want something more than a Supercuts quality and if you want some actual skills. read more

Recieved a haircut and while it looked fine with the massive amount of gel/pomade the barber put in, the next day my cowlick had been cut too short to stay down and too long to be hideable. I understand that cowlicks can be tricky, but I have been to several barbers and this has never been a problem since moving to the city. To spend 50 dollars on a haircut to now have to go somewhere else in the hopes they can fix it is pretty ridiculous. read more

We loved the name, and my son needed a trim, so we thought that we'd swing by to see if they had an opening for a walk-in. As soon as we came through the door, we loved this spot. Immediate awesome vibe. The woman who greeted us could not have been more welcoming or friendly. Surprisingly, they had an immediate opening! I sat down on a wonderful leather couch and was offered water and/or juice (so nice!) and my son was greeted by Adriana, who listened very carefully to all of the specs that my son had for his cut. Adriana was first class all the way - meticulous, professional and skillful. I only wish that we lived closer, so that we could become regulars here. I came to Marvelous a few days ago still searching for a relatable barber who could cut my hair the way I like it. Ive probably been to 5 or 6 different places and never got the quality cut that I hoped for. I can finally say I've found the place for me. Lex gave me the best cut I've ever had, and it was a super fun experience. You walk on the lounge is incredibly classy. I felt like a high roller coming in and sitting in the chair. Lex and Hector were working, and they were awesome to talk to and had a lot of laughs. The cut itself was great. I like a mid/high fade pompadour and nobody in Boston could really do a good job with it. Plus, I have a beard and never found a place that could trim and line it up professionally. I got the hair and beard cut with Lex, and he absolutely nailed it. The tapered look and fresh lines, I walked out feeling like a boss! Watching Lex work really showed me that he takes pride in the job he does, and he has earned my business long term. Next time, I'm getting the top option.
