6/25/25 - I purchased gas at this gas station - East Coast Gas - 354 Arsenal Street, Watertown MA. I saw the notice on the pump that American Express credit cards were not accepted. However instead of taking the VISA card from my wallet, I mistakenly took the American Express card! OK, I filled my tank and was charged $ 32.15 and the gas pump issued a receipt for that amount. Upon arriving home, back in NY 6/26/25, I looked at my American Express card statement online and see that East Coast Gas charged me $ 100.00. OK, I can understand a penalty, but an extra $ 67.85!!!!! I looked for East Coast Gas online and finally saw a site with a phone number listed for it - 617-926-4325. I called that number several times and each time was told - "Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again." I guess East Coast Gas does not want any phone calls. On may previous visits to Watertown I have purchased gas at this station many times. Well, I can certainly guarantee East Coast Gas that I will NEVER PURCHASE GAS AT THIS STATION AGAIN. I would not normally review a gas station but they really are consistantly the lowest price around I have seen. Also, the guy that works during the week is really super nice. The other good thing is that it is the same price for cash as it is for credit (unlike another gas station on Mt. Auburn St in Watertown that is not clearly marked as such). The only reason I am taking it down one star is this -- I wish they would post one price for the entire day (I know, very OCD of me). One time I went to them and it was one price and then one hour later it was posted a lower price. Since I work and play in and around Watertown, I notice this all the time (and it is usually not the other way around - from lower to higher). I know it is probably a 2 to 5 cent difference, but it really does bug me a little. I still like going there though! read more

This is a generic brand full service gas station. They get you in and out of there fast and are always friendly. Here's why the don't get 5 stars. I can see East Coast Gas from my desk at work. The people pulling in and out of that place are insane. Arsenal St is busy all day. If the gas station is full, people will actually turn across 2 lanes of traffic and wait in the street. Yes, that's right, they will basically park in a lane or two of traffic and wait for someone to pull out so they can get gas. What goes through the heads of these people boogles the mind. Then you have the people who are pulling out, again across 2 lanes of traffic, cutting off whoever is in their way. I have yet to see an accident but I give the over/under on that at 6 months. read more

Everyone seems to love this place for its consistently low prices compared to most surrounding gas stations, especially considering that it is a full service station. I agree that the price cannot be beaten in the immediate area, however I have to agree with many of the complaints about poor service. Before you chalk my complaint up to "snobbery," hear me out. I went to the station and watched the attendant fill someone's tank just before I pulled in; mind you, my gas light was on all weekend so I truly needed a refill. I turn into the small lot, watch the previous customer take off, turn off my engine and await the attendant. He comes up to my car and shouts, "we're closed!" with an unnecessarily curt tone. I reply with, "aw, really? Is there any way you could just help me out? My gas light has been on" and I never mentioned the previous customer that literally just took off seconds before I stopped in. His response? "WE'RE CLOSED" I was baffled and was left reeling. I have never seen someone turn down guaranteed business so rudely in my experience with full service gas stations. My advice for this particular attendant is to at least mimic a sense of politeness even if he doesn't truly mean it. At least PRETEND that you might care and offer me solutions to my immediate gas problem. I had to track him down as he turned his back on me to ask where the next closest gas station was. Horrible service, cheap gas. My tip is to go there well before their "official" "closing" time because apparently this guy felt like closing up shop much earlier than he was meant to. The management should get a replacement for this guy immediately; otherwise I would probably give this place a full 5 stars. read more

To the current and new owners of East Coast Gas: I have been taking my cars to ECG ever since it opened because of the lower prices, professional service and proximity to the Lexus dealership next door. The main reason I continue to return is because of the quality and attentive service provided by Doug. He is undoubtedly the most professional, courteous and responsible gas station attendant I've ever encountered and always welcomes people by name and with a smile and friendly word. He's both congenial and businesslike in his handling of the responsibilities of the job and always provides prompt service whether it's pumping gas, giving directions or juggling 5 or 6 cars with impatient drivers who just want to get in and out. I know it seems like a job that virtually anyone could do; but finding someone so well liked, so enthusiastic and someone who really enjoys the job is rare. I'm sure that many of the customers (including myself) return there not just for the prices but for the pleasure of chatting with him for a few minutes. I strongly urge the new owners to retain his services going forward; he adds value to your business. read more

With gas prices as high as they are, it's nice to know I can count on my buddies at East Coast Gas not to price gouge. They are consistently the cheapest I've seen. And it's never crowded! I can't believe I'm reviewing a GAS STATION. But desperate times call for desperate measures. If you live close by, I'd suggest coming by. read more

I keep coming here because the gas prices are always so much cheaper compared to other area stations. Thankfully ECG accepts credit cards and not just cash. This is great for someone like me that never carries cash. They have an air machine for tires and it works great. I use it all the time. I note this because it seems like functioning air machines in MA gas stations are becoming extinct. ECG also pumps your gas for you and that's super convenient, especially when the weather is less than perfect. The guys that work here are always friendly and provide quick service. I'm here at least once a week thanks to my pretty gas-guzzling car, so it's nice that they always remember me! read more

I have a 22 gallon tank and a full size truck, i don't care how bad the place looks or how dirty it is, I just care about getting the best price on gas. East Coast Gas beats everybody's prices and I have never had any problems. read more

BEWARE. This is not self service and they "top off" your gas tank. I watched the service attendant put an additional half gallon in my tank (from $26.85 to $28). This was not the first time this has happened and seems to be common practice across all of the attendants that work here. Topping off can cause pressure to build in the tank and flood the carbon filter vapor collection system. Even a few additional pennies is a problem, nevermind an additional dollar plus. Despite the lower prices, it is not worth the risk to go here. read more

This review is not entirely for the gas station itself but rather the individual employee who works almost all weekday early mornings. While I do love ECG, their full-service offerings, and their low low prices the reason I continue to come back to this specific gas station, particularly in the mornings, is due to the best employee that works there. He always has a smile on his face, has remembered my name probably since the second week I started going to this gas station and is extremely professional. There's definitely something to be said for an employee who goes out of their way to make everyone's mornings just a little brighter no matter the day, the weather etc. A few times I have strayed from my regular morning routine, and while the other employees are nice there is not one that compares to the weekday morning employee. I will continue to return to this gas station as long as he continues to work here and I do hope that he will be recognized by his management for offering excellent attitude and service every day of the week! read more

I would like this review to be noticed by both potential managers and staff. I went to East Coast Gas a few days ago and had the absolute nicest staff member services my car. He had the most enthusiasm and happiness I have ever seen from any sort of an associate. He not only happily pumped my gas with a smile, but took the effort to make eye contact and wish me a happy holiday despite how busy the station was. This staff member needs to be acknowledged and I hope you too get to experience his happiness! Additionally, the station has been completely renovated and has some of the cheapest gas in the area. Man, I thought the owner was RUDE RUDE RUDE to me! The one and only time I went here was when gas prices were sky-high, and their prices were soooo much cheaper. It was pouring rain that day, and I rolled down the passenger side window so the guy wouldn't have to spend extra time in the rain walking around to my side of the car. I asked him to fill the tank w/regular. When the tank was full, he came back to the window and I handed him my credit card, at which point he yelled at me that I'm supposed to give it to him ahead of time (he never asked about credit or cash). Finally, when he came back with the credit card slip for me to sign, I realized that my credit card number was printed out on the receipt, which is no longer supposed to be the case in MA for security reasons, so in addition to signing it, I crossed out the cc number, at which point he started SCREAMING at me about how rude people are and that it's pouring, etc. etc. When I asked to speak with the owner, he said he was the owner, and he cursed me out and said never go back there (like I ever would...!). read more

I have been here many, many times as I live in the area but I have finally had enough today. My tank is on the passengers side and I stopped for gas and the first regular pump was broken(which it's been for quite a while) so I waited for the other customer to finish and leave. I pulled up to the pump and had my card out the drivers window so the attendant would see it. He proceeded to tap on the passengers window and I gestured for him to come around. He copped an attitude and when I asked if there was a problem, he said ya why don't you open the window, it's easier that way. I stated I come here for FULL SERVICE and reaching over isn't easier for me. He again gave me attitude and I reminded him he gets paid to do a job. I left without the gas and will not be going back. The service is very very bad. Once I came to the station, gave my card and told twice the same sentence " 30 dollars, please" . I always do this because of my English. ( buy the way , i have Master degree of Economy, and I am mother of 2 kids) Guy started pumping and ran out. Than he came with the check where I saw 62 doll. I apologized and asked him why he did this. He started to yelling on me and told that it is my mistake. He became really angry. I told him that he should to to speak with me this way, he should apologias. But he told me " get out of here" . I start to call the police. After couple minutes police man came and told him "hi buddy". Guy looked like a pussy cat, he told that I did not want to pay. But he already charged me. Police man wright at this moment told me that I need to pay and go out. Guy brought me check that he did not ask me to write down before. It looks for me like a bad play. When I asked police man should the guy apologias he answer me "no, he doing wright". I was shocked. I will never come back.
