Delicious!! The service was so friendly and the staff was welcoming! The restaurant is super cute and I loved being able to see the wood fired oven! Our friend recommended it and we are so glad we listened. This feels like an Alameda staple and I understand why!

Went to East End for the 10th or 11th time (love their happy hour too). Got oysters, which were perfect, pizza, pasta, and beers. We're seated and served quickly, and enjoyed the overall experience and the food is always delicious, everything feels and tastes handmade, with seasonal ingredients, and the pasta was especially memorable. Always love the servers and we got plenty of water refills and weren't rushed to leave. Always love the vibe of their cozy space, which is walking distance from where we live so that is perfect, but there is also ample parking around the restaurant.

We came to East End on a Thursday evening. There was no wait and we were welcomed graciously. The interior is very charming. Hard seating which isn't my favorite but I was able to endure. It's a large open space, high ceilings, and rustic decor. The tables are placed so that they aren't right next to each other and angled so that they aren't side by side. You can see the wood fired oven from your seat but the ventilation is so great you don't smell any smoke at all. The cocktails were so well balanced you can hardly tell there's alcohol. They were very tasty and super smooth. Hats off to the mixologist, she really did a great job. We had the warm herbed olives with honey and they were fabulous! Such a great difference from a cold olive plate. Highly recommended! The honey with the salty is a magical pair. The meatball appetizer was also great. Nice portion for an appetizer, the bread was crunchy and smokey, and the meatballs had great texture and flavor. They weren't packed with bread crumbs to dilute the flavor of the meat. The little gem salad was nice and crisp. The fried capers were a great touch. The dressing needed a little more zing. It was nicely dressed but couldn't taste much. The mushroom ragu pasta was creamy, al dente, and had great delicate mushroom flavor. Nicely done! My friend is from Rome and she definitely approved. The pizza was phenomenal! We ordered the Diablita and it was probably the most simple pizza I've ever tasted but the flavors were crazy! It is definitely spicy and a perfect pizza! So good! We also got Mr. Terranova and added arugula (even though the menu says it isn't allowed). The crispy shallots added a great texture and flavor. It was a tasty pie for sure but the Diablita stole the show. We look forward to trying the other pizzas soon! The staff was wonderful, our main server Anne was the nicest lady. We appreciated her friendly persona and cheery smile. We did not have room to try the dessert but imagine it would be just as great as everything else. We highly recommend dining here. We will be back!

One of the best gourmet pizzas on the island of Alameda. Happy Hour oyster is $12/dozen. Either Olympia or Kumamoto from Oregon. 1 lb wings tossed in Calabrian chile glaze with garlic buttermilk dipping sauce was my favorite.Pappardelle with lamb & pork ragu was a signature dish, the pasta cooked al dente, just like in Italy. Oxtails risotto and wood oven half chicken were outstanding. My service professional Anne well-trained from the old school with attention to detail, very attentive, and courteous. The menu changed often. Kids friendly!

I tried to call to ask a question about how spicy the chilies were but they don't answer the phone. Decided to chance it as I had never eaten there and wanted to try some new pizza on the island. Turns out it's really spicy. I'm sick, hence ordering out but I don't think I can handle this spice level. Sad. $41 in the garbage:( Please state on your menu that this is spicy as you did in other descriptions of pizzas on your menu!

There's free parking behind the marketplace that is slightly tricky to find. Spaces are also fairly compact. We saw a number of larger vehicles parked over the lines. There's also plenty of meter parking (free after 6pm). We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival around 5:30. The place wasn't too busy. The table for two is on the small side, but the bar area looked spacious. Bathroom was a little tricky to find. Our server was awesome. Very knowledgable with recommendations and details, but not pushy. I can't remember his name. The menu was availed via QR code on the table, but the lovely server took our orders. The happy hour specials (5-6pm) on 1/24/24 included 12 oysters for $12, $14 specialty cocktails and $1 off wine and beer. We shared the King Thistle Pizza and Pappardelle w/Lamb & Pork Ragu. The house made pasta had a nice chew to it and a decent sauce. Not too salty or gamey. Pizza had a great dough, but would have liked the crust to be slightly fuller. Pasta portion on the small-medium side. I had a gin cocktail that had peppercorns in it that wasn't very good. Our server picked up on it and offered to replace the drink which was nice. My partner enjoy his first Negroni, but noted the second one didn't taste quite the same. Overall, good dining experience.

I had such a great experience at East End! The food was absolutely delicious and the menu itself was surprisingly intricate and creative--there were so many unique options that it took us a while to decide what to order (in the best way!). We came during happy hour (5-6 PM) and got the $12 oysters, which were super fresh and perfectly prepared. Such a steal for the quality! A special shoutout to our server Anne--she was amazing! She was so sweet, attentive, and genuinely helpful with her recommendations. Everything she suggested turned out to be fantastic, and her warm energy really added to the experience. If you're in Alameda and want great food, thoughtful service, and a cool menu, definitely check this place out.

East End has done it again! Made a reservation for 2 to dine here Saturday night. Upon arrival, we were seated right away due to our reservation. Service and Staff: - I didn't catch our server's name, but she was fantastic! She's one of maybe two or three servers who can take your order without writing anything down and get your entire order correct. This never happens! I made sure to let her know how great she is. Food: - Margarita: always a hit. Nice and citrusy - Oysters: creamy, fresh, tasty - Fries: the fries come with three different sauces. One is a rendition of ketchup (more similar in flavor to tomato paste). One is a rosemary aioli, which was fun and unique. And one was a Calabrian chili aioli, which was my favorite. - Pizza: can't remember the name of the pizza, but ordered it with pepperoni on top (doesn't usually come with it) - Caesar Salad: tasty salad that comes with croutons and Parmesan cheese on top - Yardbird: fried chicken sandwich that was large in size and tasty with the coleslaw. Comes with your choice of fries or a house salad. Chose the house salad that came dressed with a very delicious Dijon champagne dressing. We couldn't get enough of it! Overall, had yet another great experience here and am excited to go back again.

As part of my Alameda Restaurant Week exploration, I spent time at East End documenting their offerings. They maintain a friendly, changing menu that keeps things interesting. The pizzas feature great toppings, but they also serve interesting pasta and meat dishes worth noting. Paul, the owner, is an artist with food - you can see his creativity throughout the menu. The non-pizza items are definitely worth checking out. It's upscale, but in a distinctly Alameda way that remains approachable.

I remember old tiki bars back in the day in the 50s when I first remembered hearing about him and the 60s when they were still popular. But as time went on and people change, they kind of disappeared, but this one popped up. And I'm so glad it did because it brought back fond memories of what it used to be. When you walk into the place, it's unlike anybody you're gonna walk into there are one dollar bill stuck to every square inch of the ceiling. Smoking is only allowed outside, so the room was pretty clear because as you walk in it is small, but there's plenty of room at the bar and there are a couple little hutches that you can sit in as well as an area around the corner, but the big surprise is outside. When we walked outside, there was like a 10 foot tiki head out there and it was a flash throwback to the old days. It was so much fun to see. The bar serves drinks that are long forgotten and most bars, and they served them with flair. Everybody from the minute I walked in the front door was awesome. They were smiling, attentive, helpful, and making sure that you got exactly what you wanted and the perfect experience. I even had a moment to talk to the owner and tell him how impressed I was by the staff and the fun that the place brought. I would say I will absolutely be glad to return to this place anytime. The quality that drinks is absolutely five star. The flavors were spot on. And the throwback atmosphere was perfect. I strongly recommended for anybody that wants to go out for an evening of fun and frolic. When they close the back where the outdoor seating is a little bit earlier than the regular bar hours it does get a bit crowded on the inside because so many people are there that you didn't see originally. But that didn't change it. We still had maximum fun.

I came here with my brother and my sister-in-law for a drink after having dinner in the area. The people were friendly and helpful. We ordered a few of the tiki drinks. I got the banana hammock, lol. It was tasty and refreshing. Overall, great spot, and I hope to return in the near future. Parking on the street wasn't too hard to find. We parked about a block away in the residential area.

As soon as you walk in, you're hit with the smell of a campfire from the oven. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous with an Art Deco design. The ambiance is cozy but elevated. Benedict (buttermilk biscuit, dungeness crab cakes, marinated swiss chard & beet greens, herbed hollandaise, poached eggs & mixed greens): I'm not a huge benedict person because they can feel heavy, but this one was fantastic. I loved the textures and flavors of the crab cakes pairing with the greens and vegetables. It felt balanced and not too creamy or exhausting to eat. It definitely stands out from the run-of-the-mill brunch benedict. Vegetable Hash (roasted sweet potatoes, garnet yams, sunchokes, cauliflower, cremini mushrooms, celery root & onion, savoy spinach & poached eggs): This was also delicious and also set itself apart from the standard brunch hash. I loved the different vegetables in it besides being just potatoes and onions. The mushrooms and root vegetables worked really well together. Everything was well-seasoned. I'm glad we ended up choosing these dishes even though neither were my original top choices (I decided on the menu with my friend). It made me feel like you can choose anything and it'd be a banger. We were quite full from these dishes, and we forget we also ordered beignets to come out last. They were fluffy and mostly air (but not in a bad way). The service throughout the meal was good. We were checked on from time-to-time and our waters were refilled, although I wish the water glasses were a little bigger. One small thing to note was that we were given the check while we were still eating, even though the restaurant was still seating people despite it being close to closing time. Unsure if/why we were rushed like this. Overall, this was a memorable brunch spots I've been to in the Bay (dare I say one of the best?). We left smelling like a campfire. I would recommend it.

After that I ordered a classic margarita which was super good and came with a black salt rim and dehydrated lime. The margarita was super tasty and both drinks were made right away! For food, I ordered the chips and salsa and guac. The guac was very good, it tasted fresh and was a good size portion. The salsa was really good, it was chipotle tasting but had a lime tanginess to it that was unique and refreshing. They were generous with the portion of chips and the chips were thick and crispy and seasoned well with just a little bit of salt. I also ordered the impossible taquitos which came with guac, sour cream, and salsa on top. The presentation was beautiful and the food came out fast but the taste was a bit weird, it wasn't bad but it just tasted like burger meat in a taquito. I really appreciate that they offered a meat alternative but wish it tasted better, like maybe use potatoes instead of fake meat, or use fake chorizo over a burger seasoning. It would also be nice if there was a vegan version not just a vegetarian version. Despite my critiques of the food, I have no critiques for the service and atmosphere! My server was phenomenal and attentive and checked in often!
