Came here after visiting the blood sucking dept as I had been fasting. Its in the older area of Alameda which probably was more happening when the Navy was still there. Its a quaint place that you can tell is a gathering spot for the retirees. Have a decent menu. I settled on the hungry man 1. Came with two Swedish pancakes (ie crepes) eggs and bacon or sausage. The crepes came out with some jam on the side. I thought it was strawberry and was pleasantly surprised it was lingon berry jam. The pancakes could have been cooked at little more and the color was pale, may the pan need to be a bit hotter. Service was fine, not coming over every 5 mins asking how's the food etc. That alone with increase my tip. Let me enjoy my food. Another plus they have fresh grapefruit. If you juice separates from the pulp, you know its now Tropicana or some other store bought. Nice you want a quiet atmosphere abandoned local feeling place.

First time at Marti's Place. It's a hole in the wall serving American breakfast and a good list of Mexican entrees. The ambiance definitely has a mom and pop feel, and we love it since they were simple, no screens, and relatively quiet compared to some other breakfast places on the island where it's loud and screens around which distracts the kids. The overall breakfast food were delicious. Only thing that could use some improvement is the home potatoes as some were just right while some were still hard - needing to cook a little longer. Service was efficient and fast. Great for breakfast or brunch with toddlers who can only stay seated for awhile. Will be back to try other entrees.

Let's say - yes. I like it. The food is good and the staff is very nice. It's a cute little place tucked away in alameda.. a good menu and plenty of room for you and your family. Just say yes.

Home style breakfast in a cozy cafe offering both American and Mexican breakfasts! Service was fast and incredibly friendly. It felt like I was going over to a family member's house for breakfast. I'd highly recommend Marti's Scramble for anyone wanting a hearty breakfast! The portion was large and it was packed with fresh tasting ingredients. The potatoes were a home run for me as well. I look forward to coming back!

Very cute place, perfect for breakfast. My friend and I split the Stockholm Swedish pancake and the equivalent of the Monte Cristo sandwich. So delicious! And it was so satisfying to be able to try two different items. Good coffee, fast and efficient service. Love this place and will definitely be back!!

The food here was extremely disappointing. I order a standard BLT, and received soggy bread covered in mayo, burnt bacon that immediately tasted bad, alongside non seasonal fruit that tasted sour and old. I was very disappointed. If you want quality food don't go here. It's a waste of money! Go to Southshore Cafe instead!!

I always love coming here as it is very hometown and plain old generous servings of food and good coffee and service. They have a menu of different types of breakfasts choices. However this is the place for Swedish pancakes. I always order the # 1 Hungry Swede to include 2 Swedish pancakes, 2 eggs, choice of sausage or crispy bacon. The ambiance is quite enough to have a decent conversation with yelling. Service is friendly. They also had freshly baked Snickerdoodle cookies at the cash register, but too full to get any this time.

Martis scramble with potatoe salad is divine! I also had their crunchy bacon on the side ! so delicious!

My partner and I were impressed with Marti's place.. a downhome atmosphere... cute eclectic art on the wall, very friendly people especially Elena, and Alfredo the bus boy. Elena recommended her favorite dish from the menu is the chilaquiles. Alfredo was trying to explain to us how it is made. I definitely agree. Now we know how one of their dishes is made with fresh fried tortillas and homemade green sauce. We were grateful that Alfredo shared how they made Chilaquiles! Thank you Elena and alfredo... again excellent service...

Another patron who was eating flagged down wait staff and asked if they could help them with their Samsung phone which they did. That is what made this place so special. The people working there genuinely cared to be of service. Food highlights: juice was fresh and delicious. Would order this again. Chilaquiles plate tasted fresh and my over medium eggs were cooked correctly. Pancakes were cool; the warmed up syrup was a nice touch. 5 stars because I would return here to eat again. And the service was above and beyond.

    Club sandwich is still amazing.

There is a constantly rotating series of staff, so maybe it is inexperience? However, this last visit is probably the last time I will visit. With their lunches, they offer a soup and then choice of a side. I never understand why the soup comes out with the sandwich or even after the sandwich is delivered. To me soup is always a starter. They say it is being made fresh in the back, which I don't understand how you make a cup of soup fresh every time. Also, in the past, I've always ordered an iced tea which came with free refills. That's common at most restaurants. However, this time I was charged $3.50 each for two iced teas. I questioned it and the server said that it was correct. I checked the menu to see if I'd overlook something, but there is no mention about a no refills policy. An inconsistency for sure.

I had a day planned that included cleaning the garage, so I figured a big breakfast would be good. I walked in just before 9am, and the place was empty. A waitress greeted me and told me to sit anywhere. It's actually hard to pick a table when the place is empty. Cape 7 has a fairly large dining room. It used to be a Sizzler Restaurant. Before Cape 7, it was "Shell Shock." Cape 7 never changed the Shell Shock decor, so it has a nautical theme. A pirate stands guard by the restrooms. So I sat at a booth by the window. I sat back and the bench seat was broken. A gentleman raced over and switched the bench seats. Wow, you have to be careful when you sit down at Cape 7. I ordered a Denver Omelette w/ hash browns, a side of Pancakes, and Coffee. It took about 10-min for my food to come. By 9am more customers came in. After my food arrived, I didn't see a waitress or waiter for 20-mins. Then the owner arrived, and a waitress checked on my table every 5 mins. The Denver Omelette was made with 4 eggs. The serving size was pretty large. The two pancakes were a bit dry. I needed more butter and syrup. Instead, I used alot of jams (that were on the table). The food was okay, I might come back for breakfast again. Off street parking lot in back.

My partner ordered the chicken breast that came with a sort gravy on top with a side potato purée. I ordered the filet mignon with potato purée that was loaded with bacon, chives, sour cream and blue cheese. Both of our orders came with a sparse selection of 3-4 stalks of asparagus that had some yellowish color. It didn't have the freshest taste. My filet mignon was rather small in size, not much flavor and the potato puree could be something better when made at home (I.e. nothing outstanding). The calamari and gnocchi appetizers were OK but not more elevated than what we could get at a conventional diner. The presentation was somewhat reminiscent of cafeteria food. We were disappointed though still finished our meal. The atmosphere at CK is lit just right for romance without being too dark, completely clean, relaxed yet unsurprisingly quite empty for a Saturday night. The value of the meal was not reflective of the high rating that attracted us to CK in the first place. We likely will pay what we did for a better overall dinner experience elsewhere and consider trying out CK for brunch.
