We came around 9ish for breakfast while visiting some friends. It was pretty busy but the wait was only about 7 minutes. The servers were friendly but definitely dont have time to "chit chat" during this time. The atmosphere is casual and the pricing is reasonable. We ordered the cornbread hash, biscuits and gravy, French toast, bacon and grits. Everything was delicious! We will definitely be back the next time we are in town.

I've been going to Palace since I was in high school! Always friendly, fast, and reasonable with the cost. Love to come in the mornings for breakfast and watch everyone come and go! The mood is fast paced, but when it does slow down, everyone is very friendly. A spot I will continuously visit!

    Onion Rings - Small

    - Onion rings : flavorless unless you dip them in ranch - Salad: very basic salad but mid with dressing - Chicken Parm: Chicken had flavor, heavier on the salt side but overall decent. The spaghetti had a different sauce and flavor than the chicken and was very underwhelming. I ended up finding a hair in my pasta so I didn't finish it per the picture. - Salmon: Was decent, rice was tasteless. - Broccoli casserole: sad looking and okay - Fruit Cup: sadness, came out of cans. Overall, not a great experience and left pretty fast.

My father taught me to choose a place to eat that has a parking lot full of cars. He never steered me wrong and when I recently drove past the Palace Restaurant brimming with automobiles, I thought of my father and said to Lori, "we're going here Saturday for breakfast." Thanks, Dad! Meticulously clean and welcoming Palace Restaurant is everything a small-town diner should aspire to become. Good food, friendly staff that's been there forever, and a loyal patronage. Did I mention the food? Lori's Fried Chicken Biscuits and Gravy was a savory masterpiece in everything a southern breakfast should be (except healthy). Well-seasoned, juicy chicken smothered in a sausage gravy whose depth of flavor would make grandma beg secretly for the recipe. So. Damn. Good. I ordered the Palace Breakfast Special which is more a tray-sized platter that some would carry to the annual church supper. So. Much. Food. And good, too! Looking for a place to make your belly happy while keeping a smile on your face? Has my "Give 'em a whirl" meter circling the lot looking for parking. Go here.

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. I love the big portions here and the service is always very friendly and attentive. We ordered the "Pancake Special" and the Corned beef hash. Both were delicious and plentiful and the biscuits are fresh and big.

Our first Saturday morning visit to "The Palace" restaurant in Monroe, North Carolina. This spot was recommended by two of Shelly's teaching colleagues, Monica Potts and Logan Ellis. I could immediately tell this was going to be good, because the place was pretty full at 9 AM and there were lots of "old timers." (I am getting dangerously close to becoming an "old timer" myself now...) https://palacerestaurant.net We both had omelettes, Shelly had the veggie omelette, and I had the meat lovers with the addition of onions and jalapeños. We both also had biscuits, which was a splurge, and grits with cheese. The grits were good, some of the better ones I've had, but not as good as the grits at John Gs in Peachland. Service was excellent. Like many rural diners, they did not have any special nondairy, milk substitutes, but I'm used to that and that was fine. The real unique experience was trying "liver mush" for the first time. We discussed it with our server, so she brought Shelly a complementary serving. It was cooked, and basically fried. I found it unusual, but not particularly appetizing. Still, it's probably good that we tried it once. It is the attached photo that looks a bit like a thin brownie. The food here was good and solid quality, atmosphere was good, and I love how close it is to the Union County farmers market and downtown Monroe! We will definitely be back here. Four stars.

I don't really care for burnt toast

Great subs and fried seafood. Homemade ranch, Bleu Cheese dressing, and tartar sauce are excellent!

We had the Classic - eggs over easy, bacon, whole wheat toast. Very good, although the eggs could have been a bit warmer. We also had the Homestead Platter - bacon, link sausage, scrambled eggs, with a biscuit and sausage gravy - a steal at $13.99! Lots of bacon and sausage and perfectly scrambled eggs - a winner in my book! The coffee was good, hot, and plentiful. Service was polite, friendly, and professional. The menu also had omelets, benedicts, and items from the griddle. Warmer eggs brings the food to 5-star. I gave the atmosphere a 4-star rating because I found the place a bit spartan. That said, I'll trade good food at fair prices for atmosphere any day of the week. If you're looking for a good, standard breakfast, this could be your kind of place. I will be back - likely quite often!

I use Benedict's as my gold standard for breakfast service. I like my poached eggs runny but these were almost completely cooked, the English muffin I requested toasted 'hard' meaning I want it well toasted but it came out hardly toasted. The hollandaise sauce was a little weak and thin and sparse. The potatoes were over salted for my taste even though our server tried to fix them by bringing me a new side order, the potatoes were still too salty. So the Benedict didn't meet expectations but my husband enjoyed his sandwich. My dogs enjoyed the remains of the eggs Benedict - too expensive to throw out! But not the potatoes. I might be persuaded to try this place again in the future, but it would be because nothing else was available.
