Hampton Inn Geneseo - Guest room

"Jenny, Jenny, Jenny Won't you come along with me…read moreYou know that I love you We could live so happily" (Little Richard) Great location just minutes from Geneseo's Main Street restaurants and the State University campus. Our room had a nice TV and workstation, the bed was comfy, the HVAC and Wi-Fi worked well, and the bath and shower were fine. Included breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage patties, home fries, a waffle machine, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bananas and apples, oatmeal, breads, and pastries. The only odd thing about our stay was the check-in process. The attendant wasn't very friendly and was so slow and silent while working on her computer, we feared that our reservation had vaporized and drifted away into cyberspace somewhere.

I thought "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." I packed and ran into the night manager on the way out. I told him his ac was broken. He said " It'll freeze up if you crank it all the way down!" I replied "Is 69 degrees cranking it all the way down?!" He told me I could change rooms. I told him thought "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." I'm leaving. He told me he could refund $50. I started laughing and said "that's ridiculous, it's not even 1 am. You should give me a full refund". And I left. I drove right by my next Hampton Inn reservation in Ohio 8 hours later. And drove straight home. The Hampton Inn in Geneseo to speak to "Stephanie" today inquiring about where my refund was. She asked what happened and I explained. She said " someone should have offered you another room ". I replied "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." She said, " Well I was going to give you a $50 refund but I'm not, because you're cussing at me!" I said " I sure hope you're recording this call, because I haven't cussed " at you" once! She said, " You said "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." I said" That is not cussing at you, I'm talking about packing my shit up!" She hung up on me. I'm done with Hampton Inn completely. They clearly can't make a repeat guest comfortable and I drive for a living. I'll be staying elsewhere.

DO NOT STAY HERE AND DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE…read more Our experience with Glen Iris Inn was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. When I made our room reservation online for our wedding stay, the total shown was $780. We paid a $330 deposit to reserve the room, leaving a remaining balance of $450. When we arrived, they even had trouble processing that remaining balance. My confirmation email and the printout from the front desk both clearly showed the exact same total price. Then, on the day we checked out, we were told they had made a mistake. Instead of honoring the confirmed reservation price that we had in writing, they said we owed AN ADDITIONAL $780 on top of the deposit we had already paid. They charged us anyway, despite us showing both pieces of documentation proving the agreed-upon total. Molly assured us she would "take care of it," but nothing was resolved. Now, the wedding... The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and our vendors were incredible. They are the reason our day is still memorable. Unfortunately, Molly's coordination was a huge disappointment. Despite having a detailed planning call beforehand and providing thorough information well in advance, she hadn't reviewed any of our plans until we arrived the night before the wedding. On the wedding day: - Chairs weren't set up correctly - The seating chart wasn't followed - Guest were seated at wrong tables, including husbands and wives being separated - Our music wasn't set up as planned - Molly never checked in with us throughout the day. She was there when I left the inn to walk down the aisle, and I never saw her again for the rest of the evening. We weren't asking for anything extravagant - just the plans we had carefully prepared to be followed. It felt like our wedding simply wasn't important enough for anyone to pay attention to the details. Thankfully, our family, friends, and amazing vendors made our wedding special despite the venue's lack of organization. But for the amount of money the venue charges, we expected professionalism, attention to detail, and someone who genuinely cared about making our day go smoothly. Instead, we were left dealing with billing issues and a wedding that required our guests and vendors to compensate for poor coordination. The property is beautiful, but the service and wedding coordination simply do not justify the price. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you want a less stressful wedding experience.

Our table of 12 was accommodated with advance notice of arrival. Most tables are 2 or 4 tops. We went for the fish fry...I had broiled with crab topping. It came with fries, potato salad, and Cole slaw. The 5 kids split a cheese pizza which was very fresh. There was live atmosphere music with an older gentleman playing a keyboard. Owner was very friendly and you can tell many of the customers are regulars. Summer time has a lot of outdoor seating.

The same is true of the erroneous reports of this fine establishment being closed. As for the food, I had the "Fatboy". A pork belly sandwich slathered with a mango-habenero sauce and slaw. Saying that this sandwich was tasty would be an understatement. The hand cut fries complimented the Fatboy perfectly. If you're passing through the hamlet of Varysburg you should do yourself a favor and stop by the Varysburg Hotel, not merely for a treat to your taste buds, but for the atmosphere as well. The staff at the Varysburg Hotel make you feel welcome and remain attentive. Parking is limited, you'll most likely need to park on the street. A pro-tip for all, mind your speed as you come down 20a into Varysburg, unless you like contributing to the states general fund of course.
