    Buck a shuck oysters
    Todd P.

We saw the ad on their window for $1 oysters and stopped in. We both love shooters and the deal was great. The oysters come either in 6 or 12 at a time. We started with 6 just to be sure that the oysters were good. They were so we quickly ordered 6 more. The oysters were smaller like a west coast variety but had the brininess of an east coast variety. They were delicious. The buck a shuck only covered a maximum of 12 though. We were a little surprised by the $12 beers but the oyster deal made it worth it.

The food was amazing- great balance of noodles, veggies and sauce without drowning in sauce which was amazing. The staff was attentive and helpful - particularly when I asked for extra hot sauce (highly recommend!) The tables were nicely spaced so I could hear my date talk and not the conversation next to me- it was a great evening

The food is excellent, well flavored and fresh ingredients. The ambience is happy, well manicured table setting making it a great one for a date. Well attended to and friendly service. Will definitely be back!

The food was good but honestly not worth the price. I got the karaage and the chirachi. In both plates the meat and fish were delicious, fresh and tender but the sauces really ruined the dishes. They absolutely overpowered the flavors. Visually the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the service was slightly slow but good.

Came with a group of eight. Ordered a meal to share for two; 3 appetizers and one main. Started with a Poke Roll, Sashimi and Har Gow. We finished with a Pad Thai. The staff were excellent and I really enjoyed the meal.

Love this hotel restaurant - fresh ingredients, creative dishes, and delicious! The Vegetarian Yusheng Salad with Ginger Vinaigrette stood out - great combination of various textures (including crunchy) and healthy ingredients.

Bar and Restaurant located inside of Renaissance downtown Montreal. Asian, non-fushion style restaurant. Bartenders Sam and Maria are awesome. Sam is definitely a true mixologist and someone to watch out for. The food is very good but if Asian is not your thing, tou should not eat here. Great service, drinks, and food. Fun and lively atmosphere. I recommend visiting if you are in the area. Bon Apetit.

Renaissance Hotel is right in the heart of downtown Montreal. I was impressed with everything that surrounded me as I walked through the Lobby with the Asian restaurant nestled in the corner. We were seated and our hostess came with her bubbly personality and took us through the menu. I had a non alcoholic Mojito which was refreshing. My starter was Cabbage, shiitake, carrot and ginger dumpling. I really enjoyed the texture and the crunch of the ginger, interesting! Thumbs up for sure. My main dish was the chicken Szechwan. I was quite disappointed, I found the chicken way to tough. I shouldn't have had a hard time to cut through the chicken. All the flavours were spot on. I ended it with my signature Cappuccino but left dessert out because I was pretty stuffed. I gave 2 stars because this is an upscale place and my dish was mey! I was in great company that I forgot to take pics ... lol

Tai Chi Gow dumplings and the bf!

Bf and I were craving some asian food. We decided to try this place out. I was impressed by the venue. I really liked how the place was decorated. The art piece on the wall was neat. I like the color scheme and the layout. The prices were a bit high to me but not too too bad. To start off, we had the Tai Chi Gow Dumplings. They were yummy! I was sad that we had only ordered one serving, because I wanted more haha. For the main dish I had the Peking Duck. I wanted to try something totally different than what I normally get. And I was so satisfied with this dish. I would definitely come back to get it again if I could. My bf had the Pad Thai with chicken. I was glad that I did not get that because it was rather disappointing. He thought it was ok. But my food was delicious! I would recommend this place for the duck and dumplings for sure hehe.

The Long Version: I love hand pulled noodles, so my husband and I had lunch here. He's not a fan of noodle soups but agreed to come and just have appetizers, lol. I got the small-sized Spicy Mushrooms and Chicken Noodle Soup ($13.99). I chose the #6 size noodles which is the thickest noodles they offer. My husband got the imperial rolls ($4.50 for 3) and the fried shrimp wontons ($11.99 for 10). I really enjoyed my soup, especially the thick noodles. They were chewy and the right amount of softness. There were chicken pieces in it, mushrooms and a delicious "tofu sausage." It also had 2 pieces of baby Bok Choy and some pieces of kelp. I wished there was more vegetables. The soup also had green onions and cilantro. The broth was a tiny bit spicy from the chili oil. I am happy that this soup does not have sesame seeds in it, so I didn't have to ask them to hold the sesame seeds. Lol. My only complaint would be that the broth was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes. I still thought it was good though. My husband enjoyed his appetizers. The imperial rolls were vegetarian. I didn't have any, but they looked like nothing special to me, haha. However, the hubby liked them which is what matters. The fried shrimp wontons looked good and he liked those too. Service was pleasant and efficient. The decor is casual with some fun touches. I liked the rotating lanterns with lights on the ceiling and the drawings of a big squid and clams on the walls. I would return to try their other noodle soups and also their handmade dumplings. Review #10 (2026)

My places to see and eat were already listed and Aunt Dai was on the top of that list of the Montréal food scene. After a flight and long day of exploring, the cold Canadian weather made me crave some warm and delicious Chinese food. But due to lack of energy I decided to order it through DoorDash. After watching so many YouTube and TikTok videos of this place I ordered food from here with high expectations only for them to come crashing down. My order of the spring rolls were mediocre at best but edible. The beef broccoli was a disappointment is to say the least. It seemed like they boiled the beef, carrots and broccoli together and dumbed some soy sauce over it. The sauce was runny, I had asked for extra sauce not watered down soy sauce. Flavor profile was completely missing from the dish. Beef wasn't marinated, fried or stir fried and then mixed with broccoli. It was only Boiled!!! No effort was actually applied into creating this dish. For my first Chinese meal in Canada I was definitely left feeling dissatisfied.

The Long Version: My husband and I had dinner here and we really enjoyed it. I initially was going to get their soup dumplings (their specialty), but when I looked at the menu, I saw that they had Laksa ($18.99), so I couldn't resist ordering that instead. My husband prefers pan-fried dumplings over soup dumplings, so he got the pork and mushroom dumplings ($14.50) and there was a $1.99 surcharge for pan-frying (the base price is for steamed). My Laksa was huge and delicious. The broth was so rich with coconut milk and a bit spicy. It was really flavourful. The noodles had a nice chew to them. The soup also contained some decent-sized shrimp, velvetized sliced chicken, cubes of tofu and a boiled egg. I wished it had some vegetables in though because I felt very unhealthy eating just starch and protein, lol. I did enjoy it though ;) I had one of my husband's dumplings and it was good. It had ground pork in it and chopped up mushrooms. There was a slight gingery taste to it. I liked it and my husband liked them too. Service was very pleasant. The server refilled our waters regularly and I like that the water had ice in it and was very cold. The restaurant is not too large and has seating on a main level then up a few steps they have 4 more tables of 4 by the front window. We walked there from our hotel, but as with pretty much all businesses in The Plateau it's street parking only. Review #209 (2025)

I was expecting a more flavored experience and maybe that is not what they do or I could have ordered differently. The menu is huge so it is hard to know where to start. We went here because of the good Yelp reviews. Were we arrived in Chinatown there were many other places that looked great, so we loitered at the door for a minute while deciding what to do. As we loitered a family came out and noticed us and asked if were were going to Keung Kee. We said we were thinking about it and they said just go, it is the best restaurant in Chinatown. Sold. We went in, up the stairs, waited a bit, and got a table. This is the kid of place you need to bring a lot of people because that is whet it is built for, the menu is extensive, and the portions are huge. We puzzled over the menu then ordered our food. We wanted a bottle of cold sake and the waiter brought it in an ice bucket. Nice. We started with the pork dumplings. The dumplings were very goof but came in a hot thick sweet peanut sauce. With a lighter sauce these would have been outstanding. The scallop was huge and had a bunch of stuff on it. There was some good scallop flavor but it was masked with all the stuff that tasted like old oil. The noodle dish was good but also had some old oil flavor coming from somewhere. All the meats and vegetables were nice and fresh but the good sauce I think was the source of the oil. We saw a table next to us had the pork chops and was asked, what are those? So we got that too. The chops were thin bone in with a batter fried then soaked in a vinegar sauce. These would have been good as our only item with a bowl of rice. Our co-eaters there had many good looking things. I would give this a try again but would bring a few more people so we could try more stuff. Total for all that including the sake was $100 Canadian. Not bad!
