Review of East Valley Towing: A Cautionary Experience I recently had a highly unsatisfactory experience with East Valley Towing that raised significant concerns about their transparency, professionalism, and customer service. After calling their dispatch and confirming that my apartment garage's 6'8" clearance would be sufficient for a low-clearance tow truck, I arranged for my inoperable vehicle to be moved from the street into my assigned parking space--less than 100 feet away--at a fixed rate of $125. When the driver arrived, however, he charged an additional $75, claiming that the dispatch hadn't informed him of the vehicle's inoperable condition, which would require a jump-start and additional unloading. I had clearly communicated to the dispatcher that my car, towed from San Diego, was inoperable. Assuming this was a simple miscommunication, I paid the extra $75 without protest. To my surprise, the truck they sent was taller than the clearance, despite their confirmation that it would clear the 6'8" height limit. The driver initially assured me his truck would fit the displayed clearance level, but upon arrival, he admitted it could not, citing that the clearance was "lower than displayed due to a slight incline." He left my car in an unassigned spot, stating he couldn't send another truck until the measurements were verified. My apartment management suggested I contact East Valley Towing again for this specific service, noting that the company is contracted with our complex, which includes garages with even lower clearances than 6'8". When I requested follow-up service to complete the job, East Valley Towing quoted $375, citing the need for "special equipment" and two drivers. To address the clearance concerns, I consulted with the complex and had the garage measured; this confirmed a consistent 6'8" clearance at the incline and over 7.5 feet of ceiling height within the garage. I then reached out to East Valley Towing to resolve the discrepancy and negotiate a fair price. In this follow-up call, I spoke to a dispatcher named Jennifer, who admitted that truck sent on the first visit was indeed 7'2" tall--too high to meet the agreed-upon 6'8" requirement. She also contradicted my building management's assurance that East Valley Towing is contracted for tenant services within our complex, claiming they only perform impound services. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I politely requested a breakdown of the $375 charges in writing, specifically asking for a description of how "special equipment" (winching and go jacks) would be used. Jennifer's tone shifted, and she refused to provide any documentation, claiming she "did not have the time."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked if there was a manager or owner I could speak with, she claimed there was no manager or owner of the business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was despite pauses where she appeared to be consulting with others before responding to each question. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked for alternative ways to receive a written estimate, Jennifer disconnected the call without warning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Based on this experience, I am concerned that East Valley Towing may be in violation of several California laws, including: * California Vehicle Code (CVC) regulations requiring transparent pricing, * California's Unfair Competition Law for potentially deceptive and unfair pricing practices, and * Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) for the misrepresentation of service suitability. As a disabled veteran who relies on reputable and honest service providers, I feel East Valley Towing's handling of this situation was unprofessional, misleading, and lacking in accountability. I strongly advise others to avoid East Valley Towing to prevent a similarly troubling experience.

Worst towing company in Los Angeles. Rude, unprofessional, and will damage your vehicle. This company is a scam and should be shut down.

I commented that I wasn't committing to it as of yet, as it was a future tow, but that didn't hinder the helpful and frankly, necessary advice I needed in this complex situation, regardless of the lengthy call and no actual scheduled tow. I was told She'd note the Quote on file, if I did decide on them in the future. A few days later, I ended up going with them based on the quality of that intial call. The next time I spoke with them, I spoke with a man who I assumed was the Tow operator who seemed a touch distant at first, no biggie, not everyone is big on the Phone, but I was pleasantly surprised by meeting him in person the day of the Tow. He, Farooq, was exceptionally pleasant and professionally skilled, assisted by Gabriel in another Truck, they both spent way more time than anyone would expect on my totalled Tow. It was tricky to say the least. But I received absolutely no complaints or gruff. Despite my own visible stress and worries in that moment as to how it would all turn out... and was still honored the quoted price. I was shocked. Its rare to have such a trustworthy experience, especially in automotives. To Juxtapose, the destination business to receive my totaled car (I won't name or review them, not worth it) were duplicitous in tone once they knew they had me, with pricing that increased on me three times. I share this, only because after all was done and the situation behind me, I couldn't help but spend the day thinking of the stark difference in authentic honesty and well meaning service between the two businesses I dealt with that day. Vital Towing, Your service really stood out. You're just good people. And you have my deepest gratitude in all your help. I feel so much more at peace with this totalled car behind me. Thank you. Thank you! Thank you!! To all Three of you!!! Once I'm able, which may be a bit, I absolutely owe you folks a box of pastries.
