I had the hot mocha latte with almond milk. I typically like my coffee and drinks more on the bitter side so I was pleased surprised when I tasted it and it was more bitter than sweet. I think of Mocha as sweet so I'm very happy that it was how I like my drinks. I would 100% come again and I recommend everyone to try their hot mocha latte!! read more

Gem in downtown Monterey just a couple of blocks from Alvarado Street. We got the London Fog tea and a cafe latte with vanilla & lavender, both made with oat milk. Our drinks were delicious and perfectly made with just the right amount of flavors, not too sweet, the right hot temperature. We ordered medium sized drinks which were a generous 15 ounce serving. Reasonable prices, clean place with lots of comfortable inside (there are about 3 rooms you can sit in) and an outdoor front patio. They also have baked goods, and other foods (quiche, sandwiches, etc). Very glad to find this cafe. We will be back. read more

Found this place online and wanted to try a local coffee/tea place. We were greeted by a gentleman that was happy and very accommodating. The place is an old building of some kind so it has several rooms with various seating arrangements. Locals seem to meet up here to discuss everything from interviews to sorting out non profits. The tea and coffee were nothing special, my tea bag was Rishi bag and my friend said his coffee was ok. It was a local atmosphere but I do not think we will visit again when we are in the area. read more

Visiting Monterey for the weekend and had been frequenting Captain + Stoker for my coffee. Decided to try something different and really enjoyed this place. The latte was nice and strong and the coffee cake was nice too. I think I still prefer Captain+Stoker coffee, but this is definitely a good option. Really spacious with lots of seating as well. Reading some of the negative reviews here makes me think some people caught then on an off day or something. read more

Stumbled upon this cafe on the way to the aquarium and found this hidden gem. Such a unique cafe with lots of options to choose from. I wanted to like this place and had high hopes but unfortunately it fell short. The coffee was fine, the food was okay (the burrito wasn't the best, but the quiche was pretty good!) the staff was kind but the atmosphere was weird and un appealing. The pictures show it, but we sat next to like a giant pile of old boxes full of random stuff. It seemed a little dirty too. Things just get really out of place here. Such a cute vibe inside. almost gives a castle feel. The service was pretty standard as it is with most cafes. No problems but also nothing amazing. I got a vanilla matcha latte which for a seemingly random cafe in Monterey was really good. The matcha tasted good quality and the color was dark too. We didn't try any of the hot food like their burritos so I can't say if they're good but the New York crumb cake was just what I expected, simple, not too sweet, and moist! Ordered a brown sugar cinnamon latte. They come with two shots. And a drip coffee, the medium roast. Super cool vibes. Different rooms to chill and enjoy your treats. I got a day old treat for $1.00! Dipped in coffee the perfect accompaniment to coffee. They did have incense burning at the doorway. Sort of overwhelming scent, but fits the vibe of the place. A great little coffee shop. While in town I ordered a large toffee breve latte. The baristo informed me of how many shots of espresso would go in a large latte. I appreciated that. He also asked me to taste my drink and confirm it was made correctly before leaving. The shop is nice inside with lots of community members seated around visiting. Love love love the ambiance that this place exhibits! The stoned brick wall definitely adds character and makes it unique. Workers are very friendly when I visited during the afternoon on Friday. We wanted to grab a pick-me-up and I was drawn to the flavors they had that you don't usually see at most coffee shops. My friend had ordered a Pistachio Latte while I chose to try their Raspberry iced latte. I would never forget the faces my friend and I made to each other: confused and thrown off but in the best way possible. We weren't expecting a burst of the flavors we ordered at all! Usually, all lattes have that same overpowering flavor no matter what type you get, but theirs is definitely something that you could distinguish. A great place to have a little coffee hang out or date at. Heads up though!!! They do not have wi-fi, so it's not the most ideal place to work or do a group study at. read more

Calm, pleasant, very good quiche and fancy latte of some sort too. Lots of money but I understand around here that's par or in fact, way above (as in relatively cheap). It was fun, it was fine, it was filling. I am happy as a traveler to have found myself here. It's clear there in fact are some, dare I say many locals here. Amazing vanilla lavender lattes! It was my first time in Monterey (I'm from the bay area) and we decided to stop at this cafe yesterday. The courtyard is welcoming and I love the unique rustic look of this cafe indoors, almost an Asian design. The owner mentioned the Nepali influence. Very zen place to chill and relax. This spot is definitely a hidden gem! The vibes were so cute and I loved the decor! I ordered the chocolate croissant, tiramisu, and lychee juice. I loved how the menu had the cafe classics but also unique items like lychee juice. The croissant was perfect! It wasn't too flaky and had just enough chocolate chunks. Whenever we are on vacation, we are always on the lookout for whoever has the BEST coffee and Chai tea latte (my husband's favorite). As my husband walks in he wants me that the drinks are not sweet because I think it's authentic. I took a sip And it definitely tasted like the chai was strained BUT our drinks tasted super watery. Combo that with oat milk and it was sadly a disappointment. I know Pete's coffee does the same but in my opinion, their chai has a lot more flavor. This was a hidden gem that my wife found out to grab our morning coffee. We drove drove and ended up here as per the parking available nearby and we are glad we found this place. A cute little cafe that is well made from the interior with plenty of seating (kind of hideout) rooms and alleys. Indian culture-based decor and staff are super nice. We even had a good time with a few local people who came for getting their morning coffee there. Coming to the food - we tried 2 coffee and 3 breakfast food, and everything was very good.
