Oh yeah i see the hype. So glad we found this place. We were looking for a sweet treat and saw this place was one of the few ice cream places open a bit later in the evening. Thankfully we got here before it got even more busy! We were finishing up ordering our ice cream when there was suddenly a huge line out the door haha but that just shows how amazing this place is! I ordered the mini scoop of coffee waffle while my cousins order the mini scoop of the bee's knees. Both tasted amazing. I really enjoyed the bees knees. My coffee waffle was also good, i didnt really taste the waffle flavor of it? It was just coffee to me but delicious nonetheless, i love my coffee always. Super glad we got to try this ice cream shop!! It was yummy! We were most definitely revived, that's for sure!
Second time visit to this shop in the past few years. Ice cream quality is solid here-- definitely the award winning bee's knees is worth trying. Outside of that they have a lot of good flavors to try from-- this time I got the apple pie and something else that I don't quite remember at this moment. Both had the impression of being delicious, but nothing extremely life changing. Service is helpful here! They don't offer samples, but will offer to swap out if you don't like your initial pick. Otherwise, they are quick to churn through a long line, so don't be discouraged by the length of line! It's long only because people in front of you are taking a while to decide. In the shop itself, there are a handful of counter seats, and some tables outside, but if you happen to catch yourself on a Monterey day with the marine layer in, then you'll probably want to stay inside so you're not eating cold in the cold.
"Get the bees knees." That's what one fellow patron told me as I walked near the line that wrapped around the patio and asked folks why is this line so long? What's so special about this ice cream? We ended up waiting about 30 mins chatting with others in line and trying to decide what to get. Ended up getting the bees knees ice cream worth the honeycomb candy. They really hooked us up w the candy, we couldn't finish it and that bee knees ice cream really hit the spot! Unique honey flavor that surprised me. Would visit again next time I'm in town.
After hiking 10+ miles, I was in serious need of a sweet treat as a reward. An older fellow had walked into our hotel lobby with a bowl of ice cream late the night before and I knew I had to track down that place for myself before we left. Enter: Revival Ice Cream. There was a line out the door as we searched for parking along the street (parking was fairly easy to find around 9:30pm and the line went quick since they unfortunately don't offer any samples - although I did overhear one of the workers say they would replace a flavor if you order it and end up not liking it?) Revival is most well-known for their Bee's Knees flavor with honey, beeswax, and their house-made honeycomb candy. My lactose-intolerant significant other opted to get the dairy-free version and I got the Apple Pie flavor for our 2nd scoop which had bits of pie crust with a couple small pieces of apple pie filling (decent but not anything life-changing). They also have gluten-free waffle cones and while I'm appreciative of the dairy-free and gluten-free options so that everyone can enjoy regardless of dietary restrictions, coconut-based ice creams almost always just taste like coconut and not much else so I would opt for the regular dairy version next time, and the waffle cone tasted strongly of artificial butter which was also off-putting for me. We got a little too excited coming in and missed the "single split" option on the menu so we ended up with an insane amount of ice cream from ordering a double... the worker recommended ordering a single split for sharing 2 flavors with 2 people after we had already ordered/paid, so now you can learn from our mistake.
I was really excited to try the ice cream here due to the great reviews. Waited in the line about 20-30 mins on the Saturday afternoon, but it fell short of my expectations. I got their famous bee's knees and brown butter pecan ice cream. The ice cream itself was nice (enjoyed the bee knees flavor) and creamy but it was too sweet for me personally. The real disappointment was the waffle cone. It was unusual that we had to pay $2 for the cone, but I really wanted it so why not. Part of the waffle was burnt as shown on the picture. It tasted bitter and was also super stale. Def one of the worst waffle cones ever. Paid $18 for two scoops with waffle cone. Not worth the price and the wait imo.
A must visit when visiting Monterey. Bee's knees was my favorite flavor. Milk and cookies was a strong second.

They also have a baby size for just $2.25, which is honestly the perfect way to try a flavor. Now let me tell you...this ice cream is RICH. That baby cup is actually enough to satisfy you. Of course, it tastes so good that you're going to want a bigger size anyway! We watched them hand-whip the ice cream right in front of us, and you can absolutely taste the difference. I got the Brown Butter Pecan, and every single bite had me closing my eyes just to enjoy it. That's how good it was.And don't even get me started on the homemade waffle cone...OH. MY. GOD. It was fresh, warm, crispy, and absolutely amazing. It took the whole experience to another level. This place is worth every bit of the hype and worth every minute of the wait. I'd give it a 9/10 without hesitation. You really can't go wrong with great ice cream. Sometimes a scoop of amazing ice cream just makes the world a little better.

There's 4 stools and a bar along the window inside for those that want to eat indoors. There's also a water dispenser with paper cone cups in the corner as well. But if you'd prefer to sit out in the sun, there's plenty of patio seating, you just have to snag it right away. I opted for the Bee's Knees which is their staple artisanal ice cream flavor infused with bee's wax and honeycomb candy. Pro-tip: get it with the toasted marshmallow and you could get a live demo! It was pretty yummy too! I also had the butter pecan and it was delicious.

Came to try the award winning Bees Knees flavor and I understand why it won an award. Super creamy, nicely sweetened with chunks of honey comb sprinkled throughout the scoop. The honey comb is in large chunks so it brought a great texture throughout the scoop. You can also get unique toppings such as a melted marshmallow or more honey comb. I liked the bees knees but next time I think I will get a split scoop so I can try another flavor. Line is long but it also moves fast. Tried the famous Bee's Knees and I totally get the hype! The crunchy bits of honeycomb complimented the creamy ice cream so well. It's a unique flavor that just works, but I do think the honeycomb got overly sweet as I kept eating. My boyfriend also got the Milk & Cookies. The cookie bits were soft and chocolate-y and there were also soft melty bits of "milk" that were so tasty! I originally got a mini scoop of their daily flavor: apricot black tea. However, this tasted like under-ripe apricot with practically zero tea flavor. I get that it's like a natural organic ice cream but it was kind of sour. They're nice enough to swap your flavor if you don't like what you got, but they don't do samples. I was able to replace my apricot black tea to bee's knees! The line was so long on a Saturday around 9PM. Think we waited around 25 minutes. There is minimal seating inside and outside the shop, but you can always take your ice cream to-go and walk around downtown! Overall: 4.1/5 read more

line gets verryy long at night so come early to beat the crowd (before 6-7pm). no samples. they collab with local spots to create unique flavor pairings! got the bees knees with toasted marshmallow and the marshmallow (1.50$) really adds to the experience. a variety of sizes start from baby to triple- my split single was a good amount for one person, would consider getting the baby next time! read more
In just walking distance from my hotel in downtown Monterey, this ice cream shop was the highlight of my trip to the area. I did try the Bees Knees ice cream in a kid size cup, which was just the right amount for me. The local honey added that little extra sweetness to an already a sweet and very creamy cup of ice cream. Boy, it was delicious! It's the kind of ice cream that makes you slow down and savor every spoonful. It's a local favorite for a reason! And worth the extra calories. Highly recommend! read more

Tried the bee's knees and the coffee waffle, and they were both too sweet. I really wished we could have tried the flavors, because I wouldn't have ordered them. With a long line behind me, I wasn't going to wait in line or cut in front of people to ask for a different flavor. read more

Stopped here during our trip a few months ago and completely understood why the line was so long. It even started raining while we waited, but honestly, it was still worth it. I'm a sucker for a good ice cream shop, and this place absolutely delivered. The flavors were unique, rich, and creamy without being overly sweet. You can tell they use quality ingredients and put a lot of care into what they make. The staff was friendly and patient while we took our time deciding what to order, and they were happy to answer questions and offer recommendations. Between the ice cream, the service, and the overall experience, this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. read more
In town visiting and remembering a place here in Monterey that our son mentioned having a unique ice cream that he claimed was the best he had ever had. Well we found it, it's called Revival Ice Cream. Small shop nicely decorated with the information on the ingredients and methods of their unique blend of honey and other natural ingredients in photos on the walls. Bright colors on the interior mixed with photos of the different flavors catch your eyes as you wait to order. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced for specially made products, the waffle cone and waffle bowl are not your normal ingredients. I truly find the normal waffle cone can be too sweet. These both were not, great flavor baked into the waffle that I cannot pinpoint but very delicious. Will have to come back before heading home to try other flavors because we have nothing like this where we live. I did notice you can purchase pints to go and cookie sandwiches with their flavors. In a recent trip to Monterey we stopped by Revival for an afternoon snack. The farmers market was setting up and it was raining a little off and on. There was no line when we arrived and two barstools at a small counter. The rest of the tables and chairs were in the rain. We ordered the Bees Knees. It was really so good. We sat in the two seats inside. By the time we left there was a line out the door in the rain. I can see why people were waiting. Several people asked for samples like most ice cream parlors offer. Revival does not provide samples. Instead they will replace your ice cream with another flavor if you don't like it. Honestly that seems like a poor business choice. The line goes slowly because people can't decide quickly and there are only two people working the counter. I'm sure the majority of the people asking to taste something will still buy something. That being said if I am ever in the area again I'm stopping by. read more

Came here for dessert after dinner. I'm so glad we found this place. All their ice cream and cones are made in house. And it's delicious. We tried the salted caramel in a cup and the bee's knees in a waffle cone. The salted caramel was the perfect amount of sweet a d salty. The bee's knees is made with real honey and had bits of honey comb in the ice cream. They had some seating inside and a cute outdoor seating area. The young lady at the counter was wonderful and talked a bit about the history of the store. I like that they make everything there. That some really cool and different flavors. This place is pretty good. The ice cream was very good. And for $6, I think you get a decent size scoop. It is on the pricey side. But that's why they call it a tourist trap right? The only good thing I would point out is that they have frothed honey that becomes honeycomb! If you never had honey or honeycomb in your ice cream then come for that. Thus the bees knees ice cream is pretty good. And the cold brew with other stuff was also pretty decadent too. Overall it's pretty high end quality ice cream. And they have their honeycomb in cookies too if you want a cheaper option. The store is big enough to hold about 30 people give or take. And it was packing that day! Lolz. Service was very friendly. Visited Monterey for a couple of days and I had stopped by this shop on both days. So, so good... don't be fooled by the long line - it does move fast! The Bee's Knees is literally the bee's knees. I was so sad thinking to myself that I wouldn't be able to get this back home. I've tried their sorbets too and they are so refreshing, especially when POG is on rotation. That is my literal fave. My boyfriend really appreciated they offered a cute little baby size as he only wanted a taste and isn't big on sweets in general. read more
Came around 8:30pm on a Sunday and the line was out the door. It ended up being about a 25 min wait. We also found out that Yelp and Google hours were wrong and they close at 9pm on Sundays during the fall/winter so we just made it! Ordered a mini scoop of the bees knees and kids cookie dough. The bees knees was really good! I like the mini honey comb bites inside. The kids cookie dough was decent as well. They dyed the ice cream blue with spirulina to look like Cookie Monster for the kids. I liked how they have a baby scoop and a mini scoop options in addition to their single scoop. I'm not a big sweet tooth so the smaller size options was a plus! They don't let you sample flavors but said they would make you another one if you don't like the taste.
