We waited about 20 minutes to get inside, but once we reached the counter, the ordering process was quick and efficient. The shop itself is pretty small, but there's outdoor seating if you want to enjoy your ice cream nearby. They had so many unique flavors that it was hard to choose! I ended up getting the Kids Cookie Dough, and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly sweet and absolutely packed with cookie dough pieces, every bite had some. Tried the famous Bee's Knees and I totally get the hype! The crunchy bits of honeycomb complimented the creamy ice cream so well. It's a unique flavor that just works, but I do think the honeycomb got overly sweet as I kept eating. My boyfriend also got the Milk & Cookies. The cookie bits were soft and chocolate-y and there were also soft melty bits of "milk" that were so tasty! I originally got a mini scoop of their daily flavor: apricot black tea. However, this tasted like under-ripe apricot with practically zero tea flavor. I get that it's like a natural organic ice cream but it was kind of sour. They're nice enough to swap your flavor if you don't like what you got, but they don't do samples. I was able to replace my apricot black tea to bee's knees! The line was so long on a Saturday around 9PM. Think we waited around 25 minutes. After hiking 10+ miles, I was in serious need of a sweet treat as a reward. An older fellow had walked into our hotel lobby with a bowl of ice cream late the night before and I knew I had to track down that place for myself before we left. Enter: Revival Ice Cream. There was a line out the door as we searched for parking along the street (parking was fairly easy to find around 9:30pm and the line went quick since they unfortunately don't offer any samples - although I did overhear one of the workers say they would replace a flavor if you order it and end up not liking it?) Revival is most well-known for their Bee's Knees flavor with honey, beeswax, and their house-made honeycomb candy. My lactose-intolerant significant other opted to get the dairy-free version and I got the Apple Pie flavor for our 2nd scoop which had bits of pie crust with a couple small pieces of apple pie filling (decent but not anything life-changing). They also have gluten-free waffle cones and while I'm appreciative of the dairy-free and gluten-free options so that everyone can enjoy regardless of dietary restrictions, coconut-based ice creams almost always just taste like coconut and not much else so I would opt for the regular dairy version next time, and the waffle cone tasted strongly of artificial butter which was also off-putting for me. We got a little too excited coming in and missed the "single split" option on the menu so we ended up with an insane amount of ice cream from ordering a double... the worker recommended ordering a single split for sharing 2 flavors with 2 people after we had already ordered/paid, so now you can learn from our mistake. read more

I was really excited to try the ice cream here due to the great reviews. Waited in the line about 20-30 mins on the Saturday afternoon, but it fell short of my expectations. I got their famous bee's knees and brown butter pecan ice cream. The ice cream itself was nice (enjoyed the bee knees flavor) and creamy but it was too sweet for me personally. The real disappointment was the waffle cone. It was unusual that we had to pay $2 for the cone, but I really wanted it so why not. Part of the waffle was burnt as shown on the picture. Of course, it tastes so good that you're going to want a bigger size anyway! We watched them hand-whip the ice cream right in front of us, and you can absolutely taste the difference. I can understand why the line is so long despite the freezing wind!! My partner got a double banana caramel on a cone, and I got bees knees and coffee waffle. The Bees knees is award winning, so we felt like we had to get that but it was very underwhelming. While in line they were playing a video showing how they made their ice cream from scratch, and there was this crunchy dessert they broke into smaller pieces and mixed in with this ice cream, but I could not taste it. Plus the honey was so subtle. It felt more like a vanilla ice cream for the majority of the time. It still is a nice clean light flavor, but it would have been nice to pull the honey flavor forward a bit more. We also tried the eucalyptus mint chip which also had a light crisp flavor, mint was not too overpowering and the eucalyptus scent hit your nose first before you finish with the cooling mint. Exactly as advertised. Good if you like this combo of scent and flavor. My mom got the cold brew coffee and wow was that really good. If you are a coffee lover, you will enjoy it. Not too bitter, very balanced. My sister, sister's husband and kids also got ice cream, but I can't recall which flavors. Small shop nicely decorated with the information on the ingredients and methods of their unique blend of honey and other natural ingredients in photos on the walls. Bright colors on the interior mixed with photos of the different flavors catch your eyes as you wait to order. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced for specially made products, the waffle cone and waffle bowl are not your normal ingredients. I truly find the normal waffle cone can be too sweet. These both were not, great flavor baked into the waffle that I cannot pinpoint but very delicious. We sat in the two seats inside. By the time we left there was a line out the door in the rain. I can see why people were waiting. Several people asked for samples like most ice cream parlors offer. Revival does not provide samples. Instead they will replace your ice cream with another flavor if you don't like it. Honestly that seems like a poor business choice. The line goes slowly because people can't decide quickly and there are only two people working the counter. I'm sure the majority of the people asking to taste something will still buy something. The peanut butter chip used chips that were too bitter and did not complement the sweetness of the peanut butter. I also didn't care for the owners' passive aggressive responses to yelp reviewers who had a similar experience to mine. Please listen to your customers. There is a reason why we are writing a review to voice our concerns. After all, yelp is a platform for customers to use to review businesses. Overall, very disappointed . Absolutely incredibly wonderfully mind blowing delicious! We went here because they had vegan options available ... There were four of us and two were omnivores, one vegetarian, and one vegan. But everyone ended up ordering vegan ice cream. Wow, wow wow! That peanut butter and jelly was amazing! Most of us also got this really delicious sweet/tart sorbet that had orange and mango and coconut and maybe pineapple? I don't know, but it was everybody's favorite. There was also a coffee chocolate flavor that was stunning. The ingredients are real (not artificial flavors) and fresh and often in-season. Service was good/friendly. Ambience was fun and cute (I loved the music they were playing)... But know that indoor seating is extremely limited to just about four or five barstools. Although they do have outside tables. This place was pretty busy because it's obviously popular (that's what happens when you make something that's unique and incredible), and although there was a line, everyone got served pretty quickly. We were in Monterey for three days and we ate at several fancy restaurants and a few casual dining... But this was definitely my favorite thing that I ate in Monterey, CA.
