UPDATE 5/29/2021 I felt the need to update my review. Dr. Y potentially saved my dogs life. During my dogs yearly bloodwork, some of his levels came back outside of the recommended ranges. Dr. Y suggested doing an ultrasound on his spleen to make sure nothing more serious was occurring. Well, he found a mass on his spleen that was potentially bleeding. I was able to get my dog in for emergency surgery the next day and was able to have his spleen removed BEFORE it ruptured. Dr. Y's thoroughness saved my dog from a potential horrendous emergency situation. I've said below, but he truly cares about the animals. The staff at Padonia is extremely incredible and they always give so much love to my boy. ******************* I moved into the area about 6 months ago and was lucky to find Dr. Youssef at Padonia Veterinary Hospital. He's helped me NUMEROUS times. I rescued a kitten who was misdiagnosed at Banfield Hospital and almost passed away (his weight went from 2.2lbs down to 1.2lbs). Dr. Youssef put him on medication and provided guidance that helped me save this little dude. He's now a healthy, happy, 5mo kitten. If it wasn't for Dr. Youssef, I'm sure he wouldn't have made it. In addition, my 150lb dog has been to Padonia multiple times from limping, to thyroid medication refills, to an ulcer on his eye. Padonia is always there for me. They've fit me in last minute on multiple occasions, they've been available to answer my thousand questions, and they've stuck around late to make sure I had medication. I can't speak highly enough about Padonia. I left an incredible vet and was worried I'd never find the same thing again. I was wrong. Padonia has been beyond incredible. The assistants that work here are incredible, they'll love your animals as much as you do and they'll remember you by name. Their prices are some of the fairest that I've seen. Padonia is also the type of vet that will not ask you to do unnecessary procedures or give your animals unnecessary vaccines/medicine. I'd also like to mention that Padonia has some of the fairest prices that I've seen. I highly recommend Padonia Veterinary Hospital to those of us that love our animals more than we can even explain. read more

You know when your parents tell you they're not mad, they're just disappointed and that's the worse than them just being mad?? That's how I feel about Padonia Vet-- not mad, just disappointed. I'll try to give the cliff notes version-- my cat was suffering from a myriad of symptoms, the most prominent being coughing and labored breathing. She got got bloodwork and an X-ray done. Notes said possible asthma or URI but trying to rule out feline viruses first. The bloodwork came back and a different vet called me about the bloodwork than had actually seen her. Long story short, he told me that she had FIP which is a fatal mutation of the coronavirus. So after crying for hours thinking my 8-month old kitten is dying, I did more research and consulted other people (including other vets) that said her bloodwork is not consistent with FIP at all. This culminated in her needing to go to emergency vet for her symptoms and that vet confirming she would never have thought FIP. I will say the vet at Padonia was very nice on the phone and took the time to answer my questions. What really gets to me is the irresponsibility of telling someone their pet has a fatal disease without (what I felt like) truly analyzing her paperwork. There are a couple other things that I wasn't happy with (mainly communication) at this vet as well. We are following up with a new vet next week to make sure her needs are met with clear communication. I will say that all the front desk staff have always been so nice and none of this is their fault, just very disappointed with the diagnosis and communication process. read more

I recently took my very ill cat in for an emergency visit. Dr. Youssef knew within a few minutes that my cat was in diabetic ketoacidosis and began treating him with IV fluids, insulin, and an antibiotic. He and his staff are so kind, compassionate, professional, and efficient. They saved me money on insulin, by finding a single insulin pen at Target Pharmacy, which I appreciate so much. I lost my dog and dropped him off here where he was being seen. I asked for my dog to be cremated and his ashes returned. Sadly that didn't happen. they messed my order up and did not explain the difference between mass and private cremation! It's bad enough to lose a dog but to not get his ashes back is another. I can not say enough about Dr. Youssef and his wonderful staff. My dog Goergia developed seizures and we had a hard time finding the correct medicine that would work for her. Dr. Youssef even went so far as to contact neurologists to see what would be best. Unfortunately Georgia got worse. The staff never complained about all my questions -- Dr. Youssef always called me back. They treated Georgia as if she was one of their own animals. When it was time to let Georgia go they were very sympathetic and compassionate. They even sent us a lovely sympathy card with a paw print of Georgia. I would not hesitate to take another animal to these wonderful people. When it is time to get another rescue, Dr. Youssef is the only one I would let take care of my animal. I had a terrible experience at this vets office. As a whole, the office is very outdated, the staff usually pronounced my dog's name wrong and referred to her as a him, but I only went here twice and twice was enough. The first time I went I met a veterinarian who was relatively nice, but told me my dog's knee cap was slipping out of place and she needed surgery. I went back about two weeks later when my dog was scratching a lot and had a mild UTI. I met Dr. Anis the second time who had terrible bedside manor. He immediately told me my dog was blind and there was nothing we could do about it. He wasn't very comforting to me or my dog. He also proceeded to tell me her ears were red and inflamed to which I noted that I was there about her allergies. He gave my dog two shots without explanation, I had to ask what they were for and why he was giving them to her. He gave me a medication for a UTI but proceeded to tell me that he really hoped the medication would work but he wasn't sure, it could be something much more serious like liver disease and we would have to do x-rays. While he was listening to her heart beat, he held her mouth shut and covered her nose, and I had to watch while he prevented my dog from breathing. I have NEVER seen any other vet do this before, and I'm pretty sure this is why stethoscopes exist is so the doctor can hear. There was no need to cover my dog's breathing. At the end of the appointment he asked if I had been there before, I said I had been there two weeks before, so he pulled out the antiquated index card used to keep my dog's records and saw that the last vet noted that my dog needed knee surgery. He told me that he didn't notice this, but also seemed shocked that the last vet didn't notice my dog's eyes. Dr. Anis then told me that my dog didn't need the knee surgery and that should would just limp the rest of her life, but she could live with it, but that surgery wasn't necessary. At this point I didn't know who to believe, so I told the doctor that I was done and wanted to leave. I left with two shots in my dog, 4 prescriptions, and two life-threatening diagnoses, and a totally different opinion on surgery. I am now taking my dog somewhere else to get a second opinion and to have better care. This was by-far the worst experience I have ever had at any vet's office. read more

Our family has been going to Padonia vet hospital since our first dog with Dr. Shortall. I now live in Arlington Virginia (about 75 miles away) and still take our current dogs up to Padonia vet hospital. Although Dr Shortall is no longer there, Dr. Yousef and Dr. Anis are wonderful. My dog Heinz has been sick lately and Dr. Yousef and staff person Chelsea have been wonderful. They have called to see how Heinz is doing. The bed side manner for a sick pet has been amazing. I called Friday afternoon for an ichy dog & was able to be seen sat morning. When we arrived, the receptionist let us know that Dr Anis was running a bit behind due to an emergency so we walked next door for a bite to eat and were seen a half an hour later as promised. My wife and I started taking our dog and cat to Padonia Vet Hospital a year and a half ago, and we are very happy. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, they have squeezed us in when needed, and they really helped improve the health of our dog. Six months ago We were worried we may have to put him down, but after some through tests and trying a different medicine, our dog is in great shape. I took my cat here for the first time to have his leg looked at due to a severe limp and the pain he was in. I typically would take my pets to Banfield but for a situation like this, I wanted to take him somewhere that was more focused on doing what is necessary instead of doing what they can to get money out of you. I had prepared myself for the Dr to say xrays would be needed. However, I was surprised when that didn't happen. Dr Youssef did a thorough examination (much to my cat's dismay lol) and determined it was most likely a type of hip dysplasia and xrays would most likely show the same thing. He gave my kitty a steroid shot and gave me pain meds for my kitty just in case. He said they'd do xrays only if my kitty wasn't doing better within 2 weeks. Well. It has been 5 days and my kitty is doing so so so much better. He's back to being him- going where he wants and when he wants in our house. He can finally comfortably sit in front of the water bowl and his food bowl. I'm so grateful to Padonia and will def be taking my kitty there from now on read more

I took our dog here in the summer for a check up and in hopes of switching vets for convenience and cost. I brought his records to get him up to date on any necessary shots. I was verbally advised that he would need follow up shots but felt weary about their record keeping system which was written notes on index cards. They didn't send any reminders but I called in November and was told he was fine. I decided to continue using our old vet and scheduled an appointment because we received their reminder for a shot. I asked Padonia to fax over his records from the single visit. It turned into a debacle because Padonia could not definitely say what he received. I was first told he got a rabies shot, the vet was told he had a Lepto shot and when I called I was told a Lymes shot. Considering I called in June, I was told the wrong thing then and now my dog was overdue for several shots inclusions rabies. How hard is it, in 2014 going on 2015, to keep an accurate record keeping system? We're dealing with the health of our pets. Very shoddy system and what's even more disappointing is the apathetic staff when you try to straighten things out. We're going back to our old vet. read more

This review is long overdue. I have been taking my dog here since he was a pup four years ago. Going to the vet can be frightening for any animal, but the staff at Padonia vet hospital are knowledgeable and every time I've gone they have handled my dog gently and with patience. When I moved into a new apartment, there was a weight restriction and my dog was 5 lbs over the limit. I obtained a note from the vet stating that my dog needed to lose 5 lbs to be at his standard weight thus allowing my furry buddy to meet the weight requirement! Thanks Padonia vet!! read more

We just moved to the area over a year ago and found this veterinarian through the recommendation of a friend. First let me say we live in the Towson- lutherville timonium area, being located on York road, it is easy to find and close to several other stores we frequent. Our dog Bubba has scene Dr Anis several times and my wife and I are very impressed on how thorough he is during our visits. During this winter bubba ( 9 yr old golden retriever) stopped walking and appeared to obvious discomfort. We had taken bubba to our old vet and she diagnosed him with hip displasia and told us there was nothing she could do. We were devastated by this news and refused to take no for an answer. This is when we saw dr anis for the first time. Dr anis also confirmed that bubba had a hip issue, but told us about a potential treatment that may allow bubba to walk again. Dr Anis explained the treatment and what to expect prior to starting it. We decided to proceed and to our delight it worked!!!!!!! Bubba started to walk again after just a few treatments and has returned to his active self. We couldn't be happier with the padonia vet hospital and will continue to go there...... read more

I first visited this practice when my 15yr old bichon started showing signs of a tooth infection. With the offices flexible hours, I was able to get an appt with Dr. Anis right away. I was extremely impressed with how knowledgeable, thorough and compassionate he was and will now only go to him when my dog needs a general checkup or is sick.
