We just moved into a (new to us) home in Burrillville. I have never heated a house with propane before so I had a lot of questions and Eastern Propane was the most welcoming on the phone taking a lot of time to answer questions that they probably get all the time. They went above and beyond to deal with a situation at our house that required the tanks to be moved and the insufficient copper runs (installed by the house flippers) to get completely replaced. They handled dealing with the town inspector and even dropped off a temporary tank to make sure we had no disruption to hot water while everything got figured out. I was very happy with how thorough they were to make sure everything was up to code and handled as "pretty" as two large tanks can be :) When I was shopping around I found that the prices at Eastern Propane were considerably cheaper than the previous chosen company the previous owner (flipper) had chosen. Ive had this company now for a few years. They replaced my furnace and oil tank and did installs, paid 7500. Just ran out of Oil, with the new furnaces you cannot prime the pump yourself. Stuck in limbo and they want payment due on site, what kind of heating company cannot bill their customers??? Terrible company, watch out for these oil companies, theyre all terrible. We have been Moultonborough, NH Eastern customers for over 20 years. We have 2 accounts, 1070147 and 14006125....all of their people we have spoken with telephonically or in person have been courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and customer focused, all of them! They have always been quick with a response and always helpful when calling on the phone for service, billing question and/or a fill up. There was one occasion when the drive accidently ran over some flowers but made it a point to leave a note and offered to pay for replacement.....of course we didn't seek reimbursement. Our driver Tim is beyond exceptional...courteous, neat and always friendly. I received a call from Seth that my propane level was below 25% as I was burning more propane due to a pipe bursting in my house. The heat was running more due to insulation being removed.......failure of heat tape....Anyway Seth in Franklin worked with me to send enough propane extremely quickly to make sure I didn't run out. He was extremely nice and courteous. Just about everyone I have dealt with in the past have been. Eastern is always reasonably priced, very fast, very nice, and helpful. If you call Franklin and want to ask for someone ask for Seth if you have ever had difficulty he will change your mind. read more

I'm really wavering between three stars and four, but I'm shooting for optimism here... Ever since my local tried-and-true oil delivery service was bought out by eastern, it hasn't been the same. I understand that it's not someone down the street anymore taking my calls, and that the world seems a little less personal, but nonetheless... Last year my mother gifted me oil and called eastern directly to place the funds in my account. When I called to confirm the credit before placing my delivery, the $100 she had placed on my account was now about $60. "What happened?" I asked the associatewho took my call. She/he said it was "overdue late fees." I'm on automatic payment. After explaining this, they apologized and refunded the money. However helpful that was, what if I hadn't confirmed the amount of the gift? Everything that's not a surprise debt in my life is set up on reoccurring payments, and I've never had problems with the previous company... The scheduled delivery look longer than expected during a nasty cold snap here in nh. They DID dispatch am emergency tech to restart my pilot light at their expense, and I'm thankful I didn't have to argue with more associates to get that done. Fast forward to this week, where I called for a delivery, got transferred to three different receptionists who all asked the same questions. They get a four only because of their delivery person and willingness to correct the prior situation. We got "Joe Luungo" who was, seemingly, a very jovial and apt employee. WARNING Do Not use this Company. I received my bill at an alarming rate per gallon at 3.15. I spoke to a friend of mine who also has this company. His rate per gallon is 1.35 less than mine. When I called the company to ask why there is such a large discrepancy, he told me that THEY RATE YOUR PRICE BY THE MOUNT OF PROPANE YOU USE. SO THE LESS YOU USE THE HIGHER THE PRICE. So inquired that if I were to use more gallons my rate would go down. THEY REPLIED YES. Do not use this company. they rip you off. Unfortunately I am stuck and cannot put in a different type of heat as I rent. I am not even sure this is legal. THEY BAIT AND SWITCH YOU. DO NOT USE THEM GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY ANY OTHER COMPANY. We just moved into a new house. When I arrived, there was a huge propane tank that must have been used by the previous owners. It was cut so there was no way to use it. I had to call another company to disconnect it and move it. I set up my service and then called Eastern to take away the tank that was used by previous owners. They told me they would not pick up the tank for 2-4 weeks? So, now I have a huge 60 gallon tank with propane in it sitting in my yard? Not a great way to show potential clients that you are a courteous company. read more

New customer. First delivery I was pleasantly surprised how quick we got a delivery. Ordered my propane 10 days ago. In my confirmation email from the website it stated it would be delivered in 7 days. When the 8th day rolled around, I responded to the email asking when it would be delivered and the customer service representative said the next day. Still no propane. My gauges on both tanks just dropped to 20%. I called their office and waited for someone for a good 10-15 minutes. When someone finally answered they had no idea I had put in for an order 10 days ago. She then put me on hold, told me I would have to wait another three days for it. Then she asked if I wanted someone to call from delivery end, I give her my number and my name. Nothing. This is my second delivery since being with this company. I am fearing I will run out of propane within this time because they have no idea what they are doing. I was actually going to write a glowing review once we got this delivery. I would not recommend this company to anyone I know. read more

An update to an earlier review. When I arrived home yesterday, I was pleased that we had gotten our delivery after 5 days of waiting. As stated in an earlier review, we had to hook up a spare tank to retain heat while we waited for propane to arrive from eastern. The girl on the phone was aware that we had hooked up the tank and said that they would waive the fee when the bill for the delivery came. Evidently, there is a 50.00 leak test fee if the system is hooked up again. So I got home, and my wife said we had no heat. We had to move our 88 year old father out of the house for the day. I figured that they had shut off the tank so that we could hook up the original tanks to the house now that they were full. I went outside to turn on the gas and when I got to the tanks, I noticed the delivery driver had cut all the gas lines to the house, so that eastern would have to hook them up. I had told them I have an LP license on the phone when I said I would have to hook up a spare tank, so all was legal. This is not what I consider a good business practice, the driver could have simply shut off the gas with the valve and given us a call. As you can imagine, I called eastern right away and was not in the best of spirits. Once again, it would have cost us a small fortune in fees to get new pigtails, leak test, appliance checks, etc. to correct what the driver had done. Mind you, we originally ran out of propane because their state of the art computer system let us run out twice this winter, and we are on automatic delivery. Keep in mind that I was told that people who do not pay their bills on time will be scheduled for shutoff and there are no protections even for the elderly. This was not our case, we had paid our bill before our scheduled delivery, and their computer misjudged us by a week. The girl should have sent a truck out right away as soon as we ran out, instead, she was made aware of the spare tank we had in case they let us run out again and stated we would have a delivery in 5-7 business days. To make a long story short, a manager named Darren corrected the whole situation, and we had the service restored within a few hours. If it weren't for him, I would keep my review at just one star. He made sure that this type of situation concerning run outs and fees would never happen again. If I were a person without a gas fitters license, I would never have hooked up a spare tank. Mind you, I should never have had to hook up a spare tank. I would not recommend this to anyone who does not know what they are doing, even if they have no heat, which is why we had to do it in the first place. Darren is a very nice man and I will hold him to his word concerning future run outs. This is my suggestion to him. Keep one extra truck handy in the yard to have just for emergency fills, that can not interfere with the scheduling of their fleet. Hire an on call driver, just for emergency deliveries. That way he will have a truck and driver on standby just to address run outs, just in case it happens. The on call driver would only be called when needed and I am sure that someone, perhaps a young retiree, would drive on an on call basis, and keep his hours down for the dot. Or simply, just update the state of the art computer system to avoid run outs in the first place. I advise anyone with a serious problem with the receptionist ask for Darren right away, you may just get the help you need. If their upper management is pushing to get extra fees out of people, stop!!!, you just may retain customers, and perhaps gain new ones. If this story scared anyone away from our town energy, don't, it is an awesome deal and throughout our many years with eastern, these problems have just started and they may change their policy after getting a few more reviews. I notice that I am not the only one who has had bad things to say about eastern. This is not a vendetta post. I am just again stating facts. As to the dispatcher, consider run outs a priority over standard deliveries. People without heat or being forced to play with their system because you don't have a truck ready is wrong. Once again, to any people reading this. Insist on getting filled, don't let them charge you the $200.00 fee for a special delivery, and definitely, don't hook up a tank without a proper license, it's your home, don't let the propane company put it at risk because they can't deliver for you. When I noticed that my (400+ gallon) tank had only 10% fuel left, my husband called on a Monday to set up a delivery (mind you, we are on 'automatic' delivery). They said they would come out the next day (tues)....they never showed. Again, we called... on Wednesday. I was left on hold for ten minutes while the rep was "checking with dispatch". He finally came back on line saying they would make a delivery today. Well, I pay my bills on time...in fact, I have always paid early to save the few dollars. I am not on any payment plan, so they get my $$ pronto. Hence, I gave them the three star for being remiss in customer service. When I asked them why they didn't show up on Tues., they said the driver probably just ran out of time. I do believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, but when you're in the business of home heating, and it's the middle of winter, making sure your customers have heat should be your number one priority. If you can't make a delivery as promised, notify your customer that same day. Thank you. read more
