Called only to be told we'd get NO help or support for two days. Our entire house is only around 55 degrees now and we can't safely leave. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I am so unbelievably upset. We called Friday asking for help and now here we are, heatless with two kids home during a blizzard. ----------------------------------- I waited a long time to write this review because we gave SumZero many opportunities to correct ongoing issues that have existed since day one of installation (a few years back). Unfortunately, we continue to have persistent problems with both heating and cooling. We have two young kids and at this point it is unacceptable these issues haven't been resolved. In the summer, our back room with vaulted ceilings is consistently 5+ degrees warmer than the rest of the house. In the winter, that same room is always about 5 degrees colder. The main living areas also had issues for the first few years, struggling to maintain temperature in the summer and leaving the house humid and unable to hold the thermostat setting some days. After extensive back-and-forth, SumZero ultimately replaced the entire outdoor unit, stating we must have received a "lemon." That replacement was installed this past summer, yet the temperature imbalance in our back living room remains unchanged this winter. Separately, we were provided a mini-split for our partial basement living room. That unit is unreliable and often does not work at night. The settings are correct, we have tried power cycling and resetting the breaker, and it still works only intermittently. It has been set to 68°F for days, yet the room is currently 56°F with no warm air blowing, despite the unit being on. My husband and I have contacted SumZero countless times over multiple seasons and years. Even after replacing major equipment, we still do not have a system that can adequately heat and cool our home as promised. The heat pump system installed through MassSave has never performed adequately in the years since installation. I understand that some older heat pumps can struggle in extreme conditions, but high-efficiency systems (like one we should have received via MassSave rebate with SumZero) should be able to handle New England winters and hot, humid summers., from my research. Ours cannot do either consistently. At this point, we are exhausted from having to address these issues every few months. While the customer service representatives and technicians are polite, no one has been able to properly fix the system. I strongly recommend going with another company if you want to avoid a long-term headache. Photos show mini split remote temp set to 68 but room thermostat shows 56, this is a common occurrence. Other photo shows main house ecobee (new thermostat for heat pump unit) set to 70 (has been set to this for months) but it's only at 65 in reality and continues to go down. The back room with vaulted ceilings thermostat currently reads 59 even though it should be at 70.

I would rather pay a premium to ensure it is done right and the quality is there. SumZero does that and more. We called, and within a day, they sent one of their experts, Raphael G., to quote us for ductless mini-splits to outfit our home. He was very thorough, offering different options that would work for our living room and bedrooms, which are boiling and humid during the summertime. He made the process extremely easy for us to understand and was willing to work directly with our condo association to accommodate their requests. We're still waiting to get them approved by our condo association, as there is a lot of work involved in obtaining approval. However, so far, the experience has been nothing but easy and painless. I'm looking forward to having the mini-splits installed.

One day I noticed my water tank had a slow leak. I contacted Boucher Energy since the tank had a lifetime warranty. They were very rude over the phone commenting on how I did not have an annual service contract and had not purchased anything from them in years. They scheduled a technician to come out 2 weeks later and look at the leak. The day of the appointment it was snowing. There was only an inch of snow on the ground. Boucher called me to cancel my appointment due to the weather. Who doesn't work when there is only 1 inch of snow on the ground? At that point, the leak had gotten worse and I had to put several towels down daily to absorb the leaking water. I was told by Tina that the service manager would come out the following week to personally inspect the water tank. The day he was scheduled to arrive, he never showed up or called. The following day he calls me and says I can just send him pictures of the leak. What a joke. It's now 3 weeks since I first called them and the leak keeps getting worse. Now they tell me that all they needed are pictures of the leak. I send them the pictures and they order the replacement tank. When the tank comes in, they call me to schedule installation. A few days before they are scheduled to come out and replace the tank, the leak is so bad that I have to put 5 towels down every 3 hours to absorb the water. I email the service manager Monday morning to see if they can come out right away so the tank doesn't burst and flood my finished basement. Below is his email reply. Good Morning, Unfortunately, I do not have any availability until Friday, the date of the installation. A $65 part was billed at nearly $400 and sales tax was charged on that amount. The first service charge (for a thermostat) was changed when I questioned it but the second was not. Service manager pretended that labor was included in parts but he charged sales tax on the whole amount which suggests not. Service call is billed at $165 if over 15 miles, so no excuse for extreme parts markup.

They already came highly recommended, but when I reached out, they were SO nice. They came out as quickly as they could (most companies told me 2-3 weeks!) but they called me several times to give me updates as to whether they could try to get to me even sooner than my scheduled appointment which was only 1 day after I called! Joe and Corey were truly amazing - firstly, they were incredibly communicative about their ETA. When they arrived, they did a thorough diagnosis of the HVAC unit and even took the time to explain exactly what they were doing and why. They took care of the issue with ease and made a lot of recommendations to prevent future damage. They also offered to look at some of the other AC parts and my AC filter just to make sure I was maintaining everything properly - a service they did not need to do or take more time for. They ended up staying just chatting about best practices and were just about the friendliest repair people I have ever dealt with. I have a very old AC unit that's in the attic and I wasn't very optimistic but after about an hour of working on it Alex got it working again by replacing a fan and installing a new thermostat that was compatible with new part. He has to work hard as it was warm that day and probably 90 degrees on the attic . Alex was very professional and personable. Price was incredibly fair . I would recommend and I will use Alex and his company again.

I tried them originally through their introductory furnace inspection. They came out and inspected…read morethe furnace, and said the furnace was fine but our thermostat was broken and they'd replace it for $300. I told them I would do it myself, and reinstalled the original thermostat, which worked fine. 2 months later (in December) the furnace stopped. I called them, they said they would try to get here that day. We waited all day with no response. They came the day after and said they needed to order a part, but could not tell us when it would arrive. Into the weekend, after 2 full days without heat, they said to get heat on the weekend would cost $1200, or $700 if we waited until Monday or Tuesday. We chucked them and called another company. That company said this was a common problem and should have been caught in the inspection. They could come on the weekend to do it for $1000, or do it on Monday for $500. I shouldn't have called back after the thermostat issue, but I sure won't call again, and recommend anyone else also look elsewhere
