The inside decor is classic and probably hasn't changed in decades, but it is comfortable and has that Oceanside charm. The service is always good. Christin has been our server a couple times and she is wonderful - funny, attentive and suggestions. You're always seated quickly. We sat on the outside, covered seating. The food is classic. We started with their clam chowder. That is excellent. The stuffed clams are probably the best in Newburyport. The iceberg wedge salad is amazing with generous blue cheese and bacon on a nice crispy wedge. Probably one of the best values in Newburyport. The onion rings are crispy and tasty. The fried clams are some of the best in the city. You can get a Budweiser for under six dollars. The prices are a good value with lots of good food. Don't expect fancy. But if you want to have an old school seafood meal, the Starboard Galley is the right place. If you want to grab a beer at there, old bar, enjoy it at a great price point.

I asked her if she wanted me to put some seasoning in it & she said "no" well she agreed with me that it had NO flavor to it & was just as disappointed as I was. So unfortunately I don't recommend the lobster roll with mayo unless you like it to lack flavor. This last visit no one came to check on us & I saw 4 different girls in the eating area that worked there. My reasons for the 3 stars: 1. Prices 2. No flavor in the lobster roll, no hot dog bun, nor a toasted bun 3. Gross dipping sauce for your chicken tenders 4. Service in the inside seating area is a hit or miss I don't see myself coming back here unless I'm giving my mom a ride for her to get something to eat. The steamers were actually very good and probably the highlight of the meal, and overall the food quality itself was still decent. The biggest issue was the fried plates. I always remembered Markey's being known for generous portions, but this time the portions were extremely skimpy and honestly pretty surprising for the price point. When you're paying seafood prices, you expect to leave feeling like you actually got a meal. The atmosphere and quality were still good, but for the money there are much better options out there now. Hoping this was just an off day because I remember this place being much better.
