We got a ride home using the Seattle branch of cars from Eastside For Hire, and we were very grateful for the friendly staff. We left a backpack in the cab with valuable clothing and considered it a lost cause. I called the dispatcher and explained the circumstance, and he radioed all the cab drivers and tracked down the cab that had our backpack! The cab driver called me on my cell and drove the backpack back to my house (for a fee that I had no problem paying), despite the fact he was slammed driving folks in the capital hill area. Thanks to their excellent customer service I will call Eastside next time I need a cab. read more

The drier was very friendly and had to be one of the best cab drivers I've ever had. He didnt cut anybody off, wait until the last second to cross 3 lanes, and kept a reasonable person speed. The reason I didn't do 5 stars is points off for the answering service and the credit card machine took like 3 tries before working. Search elsewhere- Rarely do I feel compelled to write a review, but when I've had a bad experience it motivates me to do so. I needed a ride back from auto shop so I decided to call these guys instead of my usual "to the airport" cab company (Yellow Cab). After waiting over half an hour, I called to find the location of my cab. On my first attempt, I was disconnected (as in the operator hung-up on me). On the second attempt, I was placed on-hold while they searched for my cab. When I was picked up off hold, another operator was on the line and she asked me why I was holding. I told her I was waiting for my cab, I gave her my name and she proceeded to put me on hold. When she came back on the line, she told me that the cab was nowhere near my pickup location (they had taken down the wrong location). At this point I decided to cut-bait and I called Yellow Cab. (This cab by the way arrived within 15 minutes). First impressions are sometimes the last. I was skeptical about using their services in the beginning and my intuition proved to be correct. I will not be using Eastside for Hire again unless every cab company in the greater Seattle area goes under. read more

Airport run from Kirkland is $40 flat (other destinations, it's zipcode to zipcode-and they might try to swindle you-per other reviews..just point out to the driver their policy, and they'll rectify it..rambling off topic...) I've booked via internet, and their phone #. They'll send a text message confirming a cab has been dispatched before the pick-up time. As for the airport pick-up. They pick you up at the departure deck. If you call them as you walk from the gate to the departure deck, the timing usually works out. If you have to pick up luggage at the claim, it's probably best to call while you wait at the claim It's been reliable so far, so that's why they get a 4 star rating read more

NOTE: Eastside For Hire and Flat Rate For Hire are the same company. Our experience was with a Flat Rate For Hire van (yellow with light blue) from the airport to Burien, about a 10 minute drive. On Monday, 3/5, at about 10:20 or 10:25 pm, my husband and I got in a yellow and blue flat rate minivan taxi at the taxi stand. Our driver (small black man with close-cropped hair and good English with a bit of an accent) stacked our bags in the front passenger seat, waved to a woman on the side, then promptly asked us how long it was going to take to get to our home, because he "needed" to be back in 20 minutes. We told him it was about 10 minutes each way, and he sped off at a high rate of speed, driving very aggressively. The driver ignored my directions, and blamed me when he took a wrong turn, then continued to ignore my directions, driving recklessly. His van had virtually no shocks, and his driving knocked us around quite a bit. When we pulled into the alley where our driveway is behind the house in Burien (98166), my husband got our bags out of the front seat, and we asked the driver what our fare was. He told us, $25. My husband and I both said, "what? It's always about $15, never $25!" He insisted it was $25. I challenged him again, and he pointed to the "flat rate" wording on the side of the van and said "we're not like other cab companies, we're flat rate, and the rate is $25!" I said "SHOW ME," and he pulled out a laminated rate sheet. I pointed to Burien (98166) and the $15 rate next to it, and he exploded, ripping the rate sheet out of my hands, shouting "pay me whatever you want, then!" and then slammed the door of his van getting in, and performing about a 9-point turn in the alley, with brakes squealing and kicking up gravel, before he came back to where we were standing. My husband, against my protests, got out his wallet and approached the van from the passenger side, saying "Here's your $25," and handed the driver $25 in cash. The driver said nothing, took the money, and kicked up more gravel as he sped down our alley, at about 10:35 pm. My husband stated that the driver knew where we lived, and my husband was concerned that if we did not pay the driver what he asked, he would come seek retribution... We were unable to see either a license plate number or a cab number because the alley was not lit, but I promptly went in the house and called the cab company. The dispatcher provided me with a number (206-971-0559) for the company's superintendent and complaint-handler, named Munir, and said that Munir worked 9 am-5 pm. This morning (3/7/18) I left a voicemail for Munir at 9 am asking him to call me back. At 2 pm, I tried him again, and reached him. Munir stated that because I hadn't left a cab number in my voicemail, he hadn't been planning to call me back. During the course of the conversation, despite all of the detailed information that I provided, and despite the fact that the company only had 20-40 vans in its fleet, Munir refused to help me, and actually interrupted me and yelled at me at length for complaining, and blamed me for not calling the police or seeing the cab number or license plate in the dark. I hung up on him while he continued to shout at me. I will NEVER use this cab company again, and will definitely warn my friends never to use them either, because their drivers may choose to cheat them and the company only blames the passengers. I have urged the Port of Seattle and BBB to look into this company's practices and end their SeaTac Airport contract because of dishonest and unsafe practices. read more

The only reason I gave Eastside a one star is because the driver was polite and good at his job. I have heard from a lot of my friends that they are a very bad cab company, but I don't like to just take people's word for it. I called today and asked for a ride from Woodinville to Bellevue, I was quoted 35$. I agreed to this. I called at 5:22am. They arrived at 5:50am. I got home at 6:09am. It took longer to wait on them then it did to arrive at my destination. I'm going to have to agree with everybody I know, this cab company is a joke. You might as well call a friend that needs money, Yellow cab. Even Uber. Apparently they "upped their prices." Either way, it's a rip off. Call somebody else. Anybody else. Variable service. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. The unpredictability makes planning difficult though the rates are competitive - and is therefore the reason for the 2 stars. If you don't care about how long the car will take to arrive and you have an exact destination address or can give directions, then a very good choice. Reserved online the day before to be picked up at 4:15 am. Cab was early at 4:08 am and arrived right at my door. Helped load suitcase and laptop bag into trunk. Asked driver to wait as I wanted to finish walking my dogs. He was very courteous. Made great time -- left promptly at 4:15 am and arrived at airport at 4:42 am from Redmond. He helped unload my suitcase. Paid in cash. Flat rate $45 was correct as advertised. My cab driver Abdi was very friendly and polite and didn't engage conversationally unless I initiated. Only reason for 4 star is that as I was checking out at the airport, the cab driver was multi-tasking and I prefer both eyes on wheel/on the road and would've liked a phone call beforehand. read more

was a little taken aback by the few FB reviews while frantically searching for an airport-downtown transport alternative to light rail as our flight landed at midnight after few hours of delay. took a chance and called the service, operator wasn't very enthus but got the job done. said driver would call within 10 mins, but before we even finished walking out of the long passage from gate to arrival hall, driver already called and said he had arrived. with a little direction from him, we met up at the departure drop-off area (ie. NOT the usual yellow cab stand or arrival level). didn't get his name but driver was reasonably friendly; we made small talk during the ride and he provided some helpful insights to these first timers in the city. he is well trained in his trade too; gave him the cross streets and he knew exactly which hotel we were going!! thanks to midnight traffic we got to our hotel within 20 min, and price was $29 as quoted, including our two carry-ons - we gave extras for the good service. maybe we got lucky with the time of arrival and all, but it was a smooth and pleasant experience. Tips: have your destination zip code ready to get a more precise quote. Expect to meet driver at the DEPARTURE level of your terminal. read more

I have had good experience with east side for hire. The cabs have always been on time and the drivers have been courteous and friendly. About the rates, I have used them for airport drops and their rate calculator rates match up their charged rates. If you have used their online rate calculator and you are taking this service to Seattle downtown they will charge you the rate for downtown and not the zip code. Usually the Seattle downtown rate turns out to be a little higher than zip code rates. Be prepared for this sort of this discrepancy. All in all great service. I must have used their service at least 15 times in the last six months and everything checked out fine for me. read more

You never know who or what you're gonna get. Some rides are $20 but the same ride back home you get told that it's $40. Waits can be 45 minutes or longer, and just like Yellow Cab, they give you attitude when you want to pay with a credit card. I think finding a good town car driver who charges the same low rates is the way to go. read more

My driver added on a fee that was not legit he said there was an airport fee and there was not after I called headquarters

Never again I will use this company. I just used their service (5/28/2014, around 1PM), car 2223, driver 17006, if I am not mistaken, driver's name is Amir Nakhan. First of all, there is no a counter which will show how much you have to pay for the trip. When we arrived to destination, driver looked in the sheet with the zip codes from/to and told me that I owe him $33. I measured the distance on the way back and it was 6.5 miles, which makes it $5/miles. He also takes cash only and he does not have a change, so total cost for me is two $20 bills. Obviously, no receipt either. I am going to contact BBB because the whole thing does not look right to me. read more

I really wanted to support a local company instead of Uber, so I made a reservation online 4 hours in advance. Driver called me 5 minutes later to say he was on his way. Told him my reservation was for noon and he said he would correct it with dispatch. Noon rolled around, no call, no cab. Called their number. Dispatcher mostly grunted at me while ignoring my confirmation number and telling me I would have to wait at least 20 more minutes for a cab. I drove to the airport so I wouldn't miss my flight. Three days of terminal parking make for a terrible flat rate to the airport. Won't risk another try. read more

Had to leave for the airport at 4:30 AM on a Saturday. No buses from my neighborhood to the airport and Link doesn't run that early so it came down to a cab. Online reviews of cab companies are less than favorable. I booked a Stita cab online and got a confirmation. The next day I received an email that they "had no vans available at that time". So I took a chance on "Flat rate for hire", aka "Eastside for hire". Again I booked online and received a confirmation. They also said that I'd receive a text when the cab was dispatched. At 4:10 AM, I got the text stating that the cab was en route and at 4:20 AM, the cab arrived. He parked out front with his lights out and waited patiently while I finished getting ready. He took the route I suggested and delivered us on time. The cab was clean. The driver was friendly. The fee was a flat rate of $29 as compared to the $49 that I was quoted from other companies. I will recommend them to my friends and will use them again should I need. Their online and mobile booking is simple to use. read more

Car 2370 drove up on people closely scaring one driver and enraging another, then the quick lane changes without regard for others. Someone said on here on the Eastside we don't have many options. I am used Curb app to hire a car to the airport for an early flight. I got a Flat Rate blue and yellow taxi 2501. The driver was very nice and the cab was clean. He was at my place 8 minutes before my requested time, which was good but a little to early. Because of the early time, he got me to the airport fast. I use Eastside for Hire quite often when needing to get to places on a tight deadline. I do not know how to drive so it is very convenient to be able to get a hold of them. The problem is the service I receive is very hot and cold. I have had a great driver on many occasions, but compared to the times I have had a really bad one it does not even out. I like the fact that this cab company uses an app called Taxi Magic which allows me to order a cab through my phone. This same app also allows me to pay for the cab through my phone for a small fee of $1.50. My partner orders and pays for my cabs often and many drivers have been downright rude about it. One time a driver attempted to demand I pay with a credit card after it was paid for on Taxi Magic. Other times I have had drivers not even know how to use Taxi Magic. This to me doesn't speak well about the company which does not properly train their employees to use the app. I have actually trained two separate employees on how to use the app so that they could access confirmation of my payment. I also have had many dangerous drivers who do not obey road laws. I may not have a license, but I have had a permit on many occasions and am very familiar with road law. I have also had very great drivers. Eastside is also a flat rate company and depending on where you want to go it can be very cheap. They charge by zip code so if you are not going very far, but will cross zipcodes be careful you may be better off paying by hour. Overall Eastside earns a solid 3 stars. If they had safer drivers and better training on things like the use of Taxi Magic application which they chose to work I would rate higher. read more

These folks have very affordable rates - a taxi ride from Kirkland to Sea-Tac Airport is only $39, which sure beats the whopping $58 I get from taking some other cabs. The drivers I've had have been nice and helpful, too. Unfortunately, I can only given them 3 stars at this point - and even that is a somewhat generous rating. So far I've used this cab service twice - the first time, they showed up at the expected time and things worked out fine. The second time, I called a few hours before needing a cab. The lady was helpful in making note of my request for a 4pm pickup. When I called back, right at 4pm to follow up, she mentioned the cab driver would let me know where he is. After 15 min, no answer, so I called back. In the end, the driver came 40 min late due to traffic from the airport. He apologized several times for the delay. Not sure where/when the communication failed, but I was told they couldn't find a driver for my pickup. I don't mind a 10 min delay, but I would have thought a 40 min delay warranted at least some discount on the taxi fare - I sure was wrong about that. The driver felt sorry enough to give a $5 discount out of pocket, at least, even though this taxi company normally goes by flat rate. Luckily, it worked out in the end. My flight was slightly delayed and I made it without having to run for my life like the McAllisters did for their flight in Home Alone. I have a feeling some higher power is giving me this luck, because I've never had my evening return flight get delayed except when I needed it to! In the end, I must concede that because these folks are so affordable, I will continue to use their service and see if their service becomes normal next time. If this becomes a regular pattern, though, I'll have to go with someone else. read more

At 6:40 I called them and they said there was no reservation. When I asked how their computer lost the reservation, the jerk told me to ask the computer. Got in the cab at Seatac airport, told the driver I was going to Bellevue, he took me to downtown Seattle. His claim was he thought I wanted to go to the Bellevue Hotel (I checked , there isn't even a hotel by that name in Seattle.) My simple trip from Seatac to Bellevue ended up costing me $80! I also liked that I received a text message letting me know my cab was on its way, and how far away it was. Not only did the cab show up on time, but even a few minutes early. I called the company headquarters and they quoted me $25 for the same route!!! I flew in the Sea-Tac last night. Went to get a cab. I told them I wanted a metered cab. They put me in the next free cab. He asked where I was going and then gave me a lecture about how I should be using Uber because I am so close. I told him that I could not use them. He was stop and go the while time so we were moving forward slowly. He then said he had to charge me 28.00. I told him that I have been using them 2x a week or so for years and I never broke 18.00. He said there was a fee that had to be paid for short trips. Again, after years of travel I have never heard this. I asked him to just stop and let me out and he goes, "I'll take you because I am a nice guy". Driving back, he said, "I need to take the XXX exit" and reported my street and cross street that I told him to go to. We take the exit and he had to go left a block up. He was in the right lane so I said, "We need to take a left at this light". He turns the corner and gets on the phone. We got close to the turn and he was going pretty fast. I said, "We are taking a right at the next street". He hits the breaks and started saying, "Where"? I repeated the street name and pointed to about where it was. He kept talking on the phone and blew by the street. A few turns and some extra miles he got me there. He acted like that was normal. We make it to my drop off and I handed him a credit card. He looked mad and said, "You don't have cash"? He ran the card and I asked for a receipt. He told me that I would get it in email (24 hrs laster, I still do not have it). I again requested a receipt from him. I need it for reimbursement. I asked 4 times when he finally gave me a blank one. I was getting my stuff back together, card in wallet, wallet in pocket receipt in my bag. He kept asking, "Are we done yet"? Yes, you need to work I get that. 1-2 minutes to get my things put away too much to ask? Rude and dishonest is what I think every time I see one of their cabs. read more

On 2/7/12- I caught the Eastside taxi to Ardmore Elementary; 19916 NE 32nd St Bellevue, WA 98008 and was told about the flat rate service. I did pay with my debit card. The price was $11.00 for the fare and gave the taxi driver a tip of $2.00. The total was $13.00. The taxi cab driver did give me a receipt from my debit. He was very nice and provided me with a business card. I did read the one star review prior to accepting the business card, but decided to use the service. On 2/8/12 I did call the Eastside for hire taxi service (#425-453-9000) and confirmed the rate of $11.00 to go to Interlake High School (Address: 16245 NE 24th Street Bellevue, WA 98008.). The taxi cab drive did pick me up 5 minutes early and I rushed out the house. When I sat in his cab I told him I would pay him $13.00 with my debit card. He suggested that I pay with cash. He took me to a cash machine. I did get $20.00 out of the machine. When I arrived to my destination the taxi cab driver stated that it was $20.00. I told him I confirmed the rate with the dispatcher. I then showed him a receipt from 2/7/12 that showed the same zip code 98008- My solution: On 2/8/12- I did speak with the taxi staff member and let them know that I was in a taxi with a dishonest taxi cab driver. The taxi cab driver in which I took on 2/8/12 told me he was the owner of the taxi cab; which was not the case. Rule: Go on line to www.eastsideforhire.com. We've used Eastside for hire for about 8 years. They were an excellent service and the price is great. However, in the last year the ownership seems to have changed. The cars are somewhat spotty on pick-up time, some couldn't find us on a regular residential block, once two cars arrived. If I could give negative 10 stars I would!!! Eastside for hire doesn't even deserve one star. This is by far the WORST cab company I have ever encountered. I was without a car for a few weeks so I had to use cabs to get places and I used Eastside because they were always the closest. I would go to and from the SAME location and each time they would charge me different.... Not just a tiny bit but like 20$ different!!! I was outraged and when I went inside my house to get the extra money he was making me pay he insulted me to my boyfriend, he called me a crazy b****!!! He called me that for him over charging me by TWICE the amount I was supposed to pay. The next time I used them I asked for a different driver and when he came he tried to charge me extra for him sitting in traffic ON THE WAY TO GET ME!.... Ummm NO, I don't think so! I refused to pay and I will never use this terrible service again. They are middle eastern and pretend not to understand English and also pretend to not know where anything is. I find it hard to believe they don't know where factoria is when they are based out of Bellevue.... At the bottom is my original review. I had given them three stars. I am now changing that to one star. Updated Review I waved down a East Side for Hire cab last night. The can driver asked, "Where to?" I told him just a few blocks away but it's for my friends not me. He then looked behind me and saw my two friends. My two friends were very nicely dressed but because they were black skinned he refused to drive them. He hurried off. So we called another company and had no problem. All I can say is wow. Original Review A few days ago I would have given them a four or five star rating but after some strange events recently my confidence in them has been shaken. I'll still use them to get around as their prices are great but I am hoping for some better experiences with them in the future. For example, last night the driver was really freaking out over how I look. Asking me strange questions. Keep in mind I am a well dressed gentleman who prefers Victorian attire. Sure, it's a bit quirky I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea but this driver .... when I SLOWLY reached in my back pocket for my wallet he jumped as if I was going for a gun, he was preaching to me how I need to get right with God and come to the Koran. He wouldn't touch my money, he wouldn't shake my hand good bye - this man seriously thought I was some demonic entity placed in his cab to test his faith. He was preaching about the Djinn and I honestly believe he thought I was one as he lectured me about the Djinn's creation and how I would be welcomed back to God's good grace And I'm just trying to get home after work ... I really wasn't in the mood for his religious war or spiritual breakdown or whatever the heck was going on with him. I've been using this service on and off for over 6 months. Yes, it's not great, but it is cheaper than regular taxis and they have a credit card reader in their cars (because it's the 21st century!). These are the major issues when dealing with the dispatch and drivers at Eastside For Hire: 1. Dispatch operators almost always sound super irritated and rush through their questions. When you call back for an update on the status of your ride they will rarely let you get a sentence out of your mouth before barking "phone number?!" 2. Dispatch/Drivers - the communication between the drivers and their dispatch is seriously lacking. I've called dispatch an hour after my request was submitted only to find out the initial driver they sent turned down the call...and no other driver was dispatched. I'm left waiting another half an hour for another driver to come out to get me. No so much fun when it's raining and/or cold out. This has happened repeatedly, like 7-10 different times. 3. I've had multiple experiences with scary drivers. Their drivers often text and talk while on the freeway, this is illegal and scary. 4. DOGS - This is the biggest issue. I have a 7 pound dachshund. He is quiet, friendly, clean and he fits comfortably in my jacket/on my lap. He goes to work with me and I often (attempt to) use Eastside for Hire for my rides home in the evenings. I ALWAYS call the dispatch directly (as opposed to ordering a ride through the taximagic app or online) so I can make sure they send a driver who will accept my dog. The message "passenger has a small dog" is always on the drivers dispatch screen. More times than not a driver will pull up, see my dog and tell me they are allergic or have religious aversion to dogs and then pull away. They don't contact dispatch to request another car, they don't apologize for making me wait 30 minutes to an hour for a ride that now will not take me. I've even had a driver ask me to put my dog into a plastic grocery bag (WTF?!). Sometimes this happens multiple times in one night, one driver shows, won't take the dog, another shows, he won't take the dog either. Why they don't read the notes in their computer and turn down the call from the get go, I have no idea. 5. I have sent messages via their website, I have called and asked for a manager to call me back....I have NEVER been able to speak to anyone other than a dispatcher. Not one of my emails has been returned. They flat out refuse to deal with any customer complaints. Even when I sent a simple message about my drive driving dangerously while texting...not a word from them. I did manage to get a hold of their accounts payable when I was charged twice for a ride (a known issue that happened to many people according to their hold message) but after speaking with them about the double charge and getting assurances that my card would be refunded...no refund was ever received. I called back and left several messages and could never get a return call. Basically, they suck. They are rude, the wait for a ride can be up to an hour on a good day and more than 1.5 hours on a bad day, and the drivers are inefficient and dangerous. I've switched to using Sidecar and Lyft and they are both about $2 cheaper per ride and the drivers are always nice, safe and dog friendly (and when they aren't they let you know and you can request a different driver right away). I called to get a ride and was told ten minutes, which would have gotten me to work on time. 30 minutes later, the ride shows up AT THE TIME I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AT WORK. When I finally got to work, the driver tried to charge me $14 for a ride that costs $10 with every other car service I have used. Based on recent reviews here, I decided to cancel a reservation I had made. Here's what happened: I just had a bad experience with Eastside for Hire, and my cruise is still a week away. Due to horrible reviews on yelp, I decided to cancel my reservation with Eastside. I was looking at my email confirmation when I called, however the customer service rep said they had no record of my reservation. I asked to speak to a supervisor (didn't want to be charged)because it seemed odd. Supervisor claimed that there was no record of my ever making a reservation! This confirmed that I made the right decision by making other arrangements. I had also sent a message to customer support, more than a week ago. I received a canned response that they would get back to me soon. Never happened. Pretty sad that I having nothing good to say and I never actually used their service! UPDATE: While waiting in baggage claim in Seattle, Eastside for Hire called me not once but twice to say they were waiting for me. Yup, the same company that said they had no record of my reservation when I called to cancel! I am ever so grateful to yelp reviews for steering me away from them. Great service! Easy to make a reservation online or over the phone. I have used them a few times now, including during the crazy snow last winter when hardly any cabs were running and all the lines were jammed. They always show up on time or early, and have a cheaper rate from Lower Queen Anne to the airport than any other service I have been able to find! Highly recommend them- always very professional. read more

Love this company! I prefer to go with a cab driver named Abdul he has been the best he is the only driver my wife and i go through we dont even call the cab company anymore we just call his cell and is always there in a jiffy to pick us up if not he has his son pick us up! He even gave us his sons number just in case he is off shift. he drops us off and picks up back up again too awesome awesome cab driver...not to mention the price is wonderful! read more
