Came to Bishop for the Flash Foxy festival. My friend has been to this festival many times and she knew this is the best lodging in town and I really enjoyed it. We shared a loft apartment (~$200 a night after taxes and fees). Very clean and comfortable, loved the in suite kitchen area, dining area, and in suite bathroom. The common area was also useful to get some quick tea / coffee, get filtered water and do some laundry. The atmosphere of the whole property is organized, clean, quiet, and friendly. Highly recommend for folks who are coming to Bishop for outdoor activities and want a relaxing and comfy experience. read more

We loved this cute property off the main road in Bishop. We passed through town for just one night and picked this place based on photos and reviews we saw here on yelp. I'm so glad we stayed here. We were two adults and one child and stayed in a private family room with one bed and a bunk bed. The bunk beds have little curtains which our kiddo liked. I didn't totally trust that the barrier on the top bunk was high enough to prevent my kiddo from falling off so I had her sleep in the bottom bunk. The room was small but we knew that and it was enough space for three of us. We loved how it was decorated down to the individually wrapped towels in the bathroom. No TV which I also liked and forced us to hang out together! We were on the second floor and there were comfy rocking chairs on the deck where we sat at night and enjoyed our wine. We were able to borrow the wine glasses in the community kitchen which was very convenient. We also spent time on the couches outside the kitchen and the Adirondack chairs in the yard - just a lot of open places to hang out which was nice. The airstream store is super cute. We didn't get a chance to try their coffee but did buy one of the treats and also some gifts from the gift shop and played yard games in front. Schatt's bakery is next door which was a nice bonus and we grabbed breakfast there in the morning and brought it back. The entire property was clean and well maintained. Walking distance to the bowling alley where we went for a couple hours to play and also get a delicious steak (yes from the bowling alley cafe - no joke!). We'd definitely stay here again when passing through Bishop. read more

Really wanted to like this place. Had a private room which was one of the most expensive options in Bishop. No hot water in the bathroom which was the entire point of staying in a room instead of a tent. Apparently it just needed to be reset but it took them 12+ hours to do so. If you stay here, arrive during the day and check that you have hot water, and if you have it, use it immediately before it breaks. Sounds like this has happened several times before. Reading reviews from years ago I see that the sliding toilet seat and broken conditioner dispenser in the shower still haven't been fixed for years. Even worse, the light sensor in the bathroom turned off every 60 seconds, including if you are on the toilet or in the cold shower. I found this comment in reviews from previous years too! Absolutely miserable experience to take a cold shower in the dark after a full day of hiking. There were 2 working washers and 1 working dryer as of 2025. But 1 washer leaked and the 1 dryer had sharp broken plastic edges that someone could get hurt on if they weren't paying attention. The common areas definitely had a hostel vibe. The refrigerator is shared and only accessible when the common room is open, which is not all day long. No fridge in the private rooms. Ice in the common room but no ice bucket in the common room. The common fridge was warm, probably due to everyone constantly opening it, but this should be accounted for. No sink stopper in the private room so no way to hand wash your clothes. Another weird thing was they had a separate recycling can outside but nowhere inside the common area or private rooms. Why recycle in only a small portion of the property? Couple of the staff had a strange attitude but I could deal with that if it weren't for the major issues. Seems like management here isn't reading reviews or is deciding not to make maintenance investments. Either way, not good. read more

I love Eastside Bivy! It's such a cute location, and right in the middle of Bishop, CA. I photographed a wedding reception here for an adorable couple--who was able to bring their own coffee shop cart in and hire a BBQ caterer. The outdoor area is beautiful and shaded, with an indoor area with garage-style doors in case of rain or bad weather. It had enough space to seat 50+ guests and still had space for a dance floor and games. The couple and some of their wedding party were able to stay at the hotel as well, which made everything super easy. I would definitely recommend this spot for couples getting married in Bishop! read more

I love the thoughtfulness of this place. we made a last minute booking after a failed backpacking trip and despite this, we enjoyed our stay at Eastside. We booked the 6 Bunkbed unit. The beds were twin size and each have curtains for privacy. We love the idea of communal kitchen. Even it is, the area is tidy and clean with tools provided. This place is awesome! A little rustic, so appropriate for the base of the Sierra. The room was big enough, not spacious but why would I spend much time inside? The community room is a great place to relax, play, or work - and of course to eat if you want to cook your own. The ONLY suggestion I have is that they install battery-operated reading lights in the bunks; there are lamps by the regular beds, but I had to use my phone. read more

My husband and I are both in our 70's. We booked a room showing a queen size bed, not knowing it would turn out to be bunk beds. We arrived and went to the room. There were 6 bunk beds and a tiny bathroom. My husband has Parkinson's Diseases, and he needs large spaces otherwise he falls. We went to the office and told them we needed a refund. My wife and I recently stayed at Eastside Guest House and absolutely loved it. We booked the Treasure Room, which faces the street--yes, it was a bit lively at times, but it didn't take away from the overall great experience. The room was spotless, the bed was super comfortable, and we really enjoyed sitting out on the deck, people-watching and soaking in the vibe. The entire property is beautifully maintained, and everyone we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. A special shoutout to the gentleman I ran into at 6:00 a.m.--I asked if there was any coffee, and not only did he get it going right away and the coffee was excellent, but we also had a really pleasant chat. Moments like that truly make a stay memorable. If you're looking for a relaxing, friendly, and well-kept place to stay, I highly recommend Eastside Guest House. We stayed here when visiting Bishop for my sons rodeo. From the first interaction to the last everything was perfect. I booked by calling instead of using Hotels.com I told them what I needed and they put us in the perfect room. Check in was easy they text you a code to get in your room. Mine didn't work so I called them and they gave me a new code right away. The rooms don't have tv, microwave but the do have a communal lounge, kitchen area. You can store your food in the refrigerator just make sure to put your name in things. They have anything you might need to cook your meal there. Plenty of seating and a nice fireplace. They also have hot water going for coffee and hot chocolate. Everyone that works there is so nice and helpful. Anytime I am on the area I will definitely stay here. Room was very comfortable for the three of us. * you are directly next door to Schatts Bakery so you can't go wrong. The only thing I would hope they would get is some type of table in the bathroom to put your makeup and hair stuff on. The sink has zero counter space I was having to put my stuff in the sink. read more

A highly enjoyable stay! Very clean, updated bedroom and bathroom. Great A/C unit kept our room perfectly cool during our hot August stay. Bed was a little hard and creaky but we still slept well. Shower has hair conditioner dispenser that wasn't working properly, a minor inconvenience. There's a large communal kitchen area for DIY meals + a large fridge where each cabin has a shelf. Plenty of seating and good complimentary coffee. The grounds are lovely and well-tended with plenty of outdoor furniture to relax upon. Food and snack trucks stopped by during our stay. Decided to try this quaint place for our stay in Bishop on the way to Dana Point. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Our check in was really nice as they walked us to our room and showed us around the grounds. There was one small problem, our room was right off the main drag and it was quite noisy, even with the ear plugs they provided. Also, the outdoor light never went off which was a bit annoying. Otherwise, they have a communal kitchen area which was really nice and their coffee was way better than expected. The location is perfect as it was near restaurants and not far from the local supermarket. read more

So much better than expected. Maybe I pictured a bunch of smelly tourists all hanging out there, packing backpacks and whatever ...I was wrong. So enough of my imagination. I just created all that from the name. The service on the reservation was really well done. Email information was very helpful. Our king room was clean and stylish with nice additions. I notice things like digital thermostats and usb ports on the bedside lamps. The price was fair. The location was close to several great food choices. I liked the frogs in the back. Some people won't. They seem to stop around midnight. Maybe it was just me sleeping like a baby. You have done an amazing job making this nice. And I must add...there is this cat therenamed Lucy and she is amazingly friendly and will say hello often but she's casual about it. I don't like cats as much as dogs (but they love me), but I just lost mine a few months ago and Lucy was the first cat I pet in six months. She was purrrrfect for me. It really hit a good spot. Driving up from LA during the atmospheric River largest storm in 40 years I got stuck in Bishop when they closed 395 North going to Mammoth on Sunday evening. I called Eastside guest House and spoke with Tiffany who was very friendly. She initially booked me for a king room but someone else booked it online first so she upgraded me to a treasure room with King and two bunk beds. It was a very nice room, super clean. The bunk beds mattresses are a little soft for me but the king mattress was super hard and firm which I liked. All mattresses feel like quality memory foam. It is next to main Street and they provide plenty of ear plugs to help you sleep. There is a nice community room with excellent coffee and kitchen set up. The stove is not working so they have a microwave. There is a super sweet and friendly cat that came to say hello and even slept on another guest's lap on the sofa. It feels very cozy here and I would definitely recommend it and stay here again. Definitely worth paying a few extra dollars for the comfort. I love their window roller shades, very effective! read more

Booked a stay for one night here through hotels.com. Thought the pictures looked cute and it had great reviews. I can see why. I received a text asking for an email they could send check in directions to. Was able to go straight to our room and use the provided code to get in. We had a queen bed room which was small but beautifully done. We spent most of our time in the communal outdoor area on the lawn laying in the hammocks. Their resident cat is adorable. We will definitely stay again and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking in the area. read more

My husband and I had our wedding weekend, ceremony, and lunch at Eastside Guesthouse. We have stayed here few times before, and it was a no brainer that this is where we wanted to host our wedding because it's beautiful, communal, and intimate. Eastside Guesthouse allowed us to move around tables and chairs on the property to our liking for the ceremony. The staff were accommodating and friendly (shout out to Lucy the Bivy Cat for the warm welcomes). Our guests rented out the entire property giving them their own private room to rest and the communal spaces to socialize together over the weekend. The owner also gave us local recommendations for food vendors, additional furniture rentals, and more (we used The House of Rummage for low tables, sitting pillows, and drinking goblets). We had a GREAT stay at the Guesthouse. Many thanks to the friendly staff and owners! We brought a group of 20+ and this space was perfect for our group. We were very well taken care of. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had personal touches that really made a difference. My second stay at the Guesthouse. First time was one of the small private rooms by the pond. This time with my wife in a larger room off the lawn area. You can find cheaper places to stay in town, maybe, but you are not going to find a better value. We will definitely be staying here again on future visits to the area. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet, the latter being a nice surprise given the hostel is right on the main drag through Bishop. Easy walk to a variety of restaurants. There are chairs and hammocks scattered about the pond area out back and the lawn area out front. Great for lazing around on a spring afternoon. The common area is a nice add for travelers. A large kitchen and tables to gather around was a boost for the group I was with on the first trip here. I imagine it is especially useful for the PCT hikers. Coffee in the mornings. A special thanks to Lawrence on our last stay. We were hauling a camp trailer. It was obvious he was getting pulled in multiple directions with family demands, guests coming and going, and getting ready for his day-job, but he took time to help us get this bulky piece of gear parked out of the way. read more

Perfect little spot for a day or several days. We stayed in the little one bedroom apartment upstairs, it was awesome! We didn't cook but the kitchen had everything we need to cook a meal! The grounds are amazing with all the inviting places to sit and relax. The community building is great and super well equipped. We only stopped in for a quick bathroom break when we first arrived and then again to grab some ice/water before heading out for a day of fishing. The bedding was very soft and not your typical hotel bedding. There was just enough furniture in the space so it felt open and inviting. We will definitely be staying with you again read more

Perfect mountain hideaway but its in town. We decided to make the best of a business trip and found this place online. We were not disappointed. It is close to amenities like the bakery next door. Although it is on a main street they were able to create a very chill and relaxed atmosphere in their courtyard and club house. Has Wifi but no TV's, and the refrigerator is in the clubhouse. This place is a total gem in Bishop. Located off the Main Street behind the bakery. They have a community room with kitchenette. Perfect, it has utensils, plates bowls etc. also a refrig and microwave. They have tea and coffee available. The rooms are modern and cozy. They even provide you a sleep mask, ear plugs and a couple bottles of water. There is an outdoor fire pit and BBQ for use. Inside the community room there is a central gas fireplace. For the price best place to stay in Bishop. We did cycling right from the room to the Sierra foothills. Great location. Nice room. Quiet too! read more

For a couple who's car broke down just outside of Bishop during an interstate move during the quarantine, we were in an emergency situation. My wife found this place, and they were beyond accommodating. Waiting for new car parts took 6 days, yet the mgmt were so understanding of our situation and the staff were so hardworking and meticulous. They were always cleaning the communal kitchen or knobs or windows, offering a discount for our troubles, free bikes, hike advice and more. We couldn't have imagined staying anywhere else during these times, and can't recommend this place enough! It's charming, with comfortable beds, spacious rooms and a prime location.
