Stayed here two weeks ago when I didn't want to spend $320 a night at the Holiday Inn Express. This was half the price. Really old motel but everything was clean. The bathroom in room #8 was super small and had a tiny sink. Had a kitchen which was nice with a full size fridge. Comfy mattress. Decent wifi speed when I did a speedtest but decided to stick with my TMobile cellular data and had good signal. Basic Cable TV but not HD so picture was fuzzy. Parking is right outside your unit. Have to back out of your space but wasn't too bad. It was 100 degrees in town but once I set the AC to 68 degrees, I was able to get cool in the room. Adriana at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is two short blocks from Hwy 395 so very quiet. Walking distance to several restaurants. Overall, it was fine for a solo fishing trip. read more

I returned in August to spend about 5 days here with my friend. When we arrived we were greeted by the sound of two dogs barking and whining in the room next door. It went on for several hours until almost 11 PM. When it happened again the second night, I contacted to front office to complain to the owner. To my surprise, I learned that the dogs were his! I listened politely as he told me he had no idea the dogs could be heard in other rooms, and that I shouldn't worry about them because they were fine. Didn't believe either of those claims. But I didn't hear the dogs again after that. read more

My Bishop Village Motel stay was as easy as coming home. Communication emails included all the needed information including the room number and access numbers to the room and pool area. No need to check-in or ckeck-out as everything was pre-arranged. The room was quaint and well maintained equipped with a frig and coffee maker. The tv had wide selection of channels and the bed was very comfortable. The room stayed cool during the triple digit August hot summer. Convenient ice maker and fish cleaning facilities with parking at the room entrance for easy loading. Quiet location near Main St. easy walk to restaurants and even a bowling alley that serves a surprisingly great dinner for a an entertainment venue. The motel is family owned and operated and shows a great deal of pride of ownership. Highly recommended. read more

My family of 9 HAD been going to this motel for over 15 years. The service had been declining gradually, but we didn't say anything because we liked the location and the parking. When issues would occur, Adriana seemed bothered to have to address it. This year, we were planning on going in June and July. Work issues came up; I called in May and cancelled the June trip. Spoke with Adriana, she clearly remembered the conversation. She failed to cancel the reservation, and somehow, I was to blame because I didn't look for the email cancellation. For 3 days she or staff didn't realize that no one had checked into the room? That our huge Truck wasn't coming and going? That 6-7 extra people weren't roaming about the motel or pool? When I found out we were going to be charge for the June stay, I called Adriana and was trying to figure something out out, she said she would still have to charge us for not being there. I thought that was unfair, especially being a loyal customer? I was asking for solutions, how do we fix? She offered only not to charge us for the last day. I said do I call my bank to help? Then she got upset and said. "I'll have to call you back!" That call never came, only an email with a full refund for June and she cancelled our week reservation for July. Stating "she wasn't comfortable having us there" I was shocked! I emailed back asking, at times pleading for her NOT to cancel our rooms, since I booked it in February and it was 1 month till our July trip. She was unreasonable and said No. I even said, fine charge me for the June days. But no, she would not. I apologized, for whatever I did. She also cancelled our other room for our kids. 15 years of giving them business, we always rented 2-4 rooms a year. This is how BVM "management" treats their customers. I was extremely disappointed with BVM. We took our business elsewhere for July. 3 rooms for 4 days. And in August we are also going back and will be staying again in the same location for another 4 days. I would NOT recommend this motel, simply due to their lack of understanding, and customer service. I have posted some items of proof that we had been long time customers. I've been giving Bishop Village Inn my business for years, but after this last experience, I'll never return. The new management doesn't care about you. First, they wouldn't even let me book a room. The front desk staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful. The AC units are outdated swamp coolers that barely work, to top it off. This year we made a reservation to give them one last try and boy we should of just looked elsewhere Despite being a loyal guest, the new management cancelled our booking, blaming us for an issue on their end. Instead of owning the mistake, they took it out on us. Also, it wasn't a mistake, it was spite from the front desk. Something similar to previous posts. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its guests. Front Desk is rude, lies and won't help you or even bother to listen. read more

No customer service mentality here. No AIR CONDITIONERS here, only has swamp coolers, which is ok if you plan ahead and leave the unit on before it gets hot. We had to change rooms, went out hiking and asked the mgr to turn the swamp cooler on so that it wouldn't be too hot when we got back. When we returned after hiking all day the room was 80 and the swamp cooler was OFF. When I asked for a refund she said I was making her life "so hard!" Came down from Mammoth to leave our car at a body shop for 3 days of work. Stayed in this wonderful motel which has old world charm. Ultra clean rooms in which mine was a studio/kitchenette unit tucked in to the center of the complex off an alleyway so it was very quiet. I felt safe with their SmartLock keypad on the door. Adrianna at the front desk was very accommodating and allowed an early check-in. I swam laps in their large clean pool every day and met some nice travelers enjoying it, too. So nice to be walking distance to everything along Main Street in town. It made for a super nice staycation! read more

Compared to Motel 6, Cielo Hotel, and sleeping in the back of my car, the Bishop Village Motel wins. Sure, it look dated and a tad dusty, but its incredibly convenient due to the kitchen appliances and items (stove, mini fridge/freezer, sink with sponge/soap, toaster, and dish towel). It's also dog friendly ($15 extra), quiet, and staff is very accommodating (we booked it last minute before they were going to close the office). If you're looking for a simple place to stay on a budget and have groceries to store and cook, I would recommend this spot. My only complaint is that the bed in our unit was right next to the AC (its a small room) so it was either freezing (the blankets are very thin) or super hot (if we turned the AC off). We didn't sleep well but was still happy to have a shower, kitchen, and roof over our heads. read more

Later that evening, they were very understanding when we locked ourselves out of our room. We were thankful that the rooms had a swamp cooler on a 100 degree summer day. The motel is located off the beaten path, so it was quiet at night. The cost is very affordable for a room with a kitchen. Our room was very clean and the bed comfortable. This is a great Family owned, Affordable, Motel, although a little dated and worn as you might expect, they could have used aluminum blinds in the room instead of PVC for better efficiency, it is Very bright and hot at sundown! It is Clean and comfortable! If you're looking for a stop in Bishop before you head up the mountain or a clean bed and a shower on your way home from a week on the mountain. This is a great place. This place is really quaint and quiet. We had a great stay and will definitely stay again. We got into Bishop really late, which was not a problem for the staff. The wonderful owner (I'm sorry, I never got your name!) was so kind to us and so welcoming. We had had a really rough ride with our toddler that was car sick the entire time, so it was nice to meet a friendly face. They can also accommodate really late night arrivals and will just leave the key in the front mailbox for you. Bishop is a really darling town and seems like a place where the honor system still exists. We had a king bedroom with a kitchenette, which was a really nice surprise as we had a lot of cleaning up to do. Unfortunately, there was no bathtub for the kiddo, just a shower. It didn't give details on the website, so if you need a tub, call ahead. I'm unsure if any of the other units have tubs or not. read more

Our stay in room 10 was perfect. This place is a total gem among overpriced, big name hotels on Main Street. Hotel manager was very kind and helpful. Our room was clean and smelled like fresh-out-of-the-dryer laundry. The bed and pillows were clean and comfy. Farmer Brothers coffee in room. Quiet neighbors, next to the pool, parking just outside the room. Breakfast is not included but there are so many local bakery/cafes within a 2-5 minute walk, which was beautiful this morning! Brisk walk on a cool 55 degree morning + hot coffee = my kind of happiness To echo other reviews, this is not a high end resort. However, it's definitely at the high end of it's kind. I'm so glad that Yelp helped me find this place because we will definitely be returning. read more

This was our first time staying at this Motel, and we could not have been more impressed..!!!!!!! The parking was great, the rooms and beds were impeccably clean, the kitchenette was fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, plates, bowls, the owners were amazing, the pool was so clean and warming up the day we left.. the maid staff was amazing and very accommodating..!!! This is an old motel, but kept up nicely and the rooms are clean. I've stayed here on three separate occasions over the past three years and had great experiences each time. They have been flexible with both late and early check ins. The motel is one block off the 395 so it is a little quieter. It's only a short couple of minutes walk to many restaurants on the main road through town. The price was reasonable and a perfect place to stay after a long stay in the wilderness. The provide soap and shampoo and plenty of towels. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The pool looks great too. I'd stay here every time I need to stay in Bishop, you can't go wrong. read more

I genuinely liked this motel. Definitely dated, as in the kitchenette seems like something out of the 1970s....with elements that strike me as even older, but none of that bothered me; I'm an appreciator of clean funkiness. The young woman at the desk was kind, helpful, and courteous. Unlike a prior reviewer, I thought the bed was comfortable. I slept like a rock. However, the air conditioner (which was needed on a hot summer night) was weak and obnoxiously loud. I dug out ear plugs. Additionally, there were small things that could use improvement. The microwave was located on top of the refrigerator and had to be moved in order to plug it into an outlet. Have you ever lifted an old microwave? From the top of a refrigerator? It was like lifting a lopsided car engine from a top shelf. If you're gonna use the nuker, make sure there are two of you. Nevertheless, the place was clean and the retro-vibe was fun. I got a good night's sleep, shopped the main drag, and headed out to Rock Creek for hiking the next morning. The motel is walking distance to the ranger station too. Love it! Love it! Love it! We come to Bishop every year and since the Creekside Lodge changed its set up to eliminate kitchens this has become our new home. We save tons of money cooking and BBQing. The grounds are very well maintained park like and quiet. Upon arriving the front desk staff, and her cute 4 yr old son, were terrific hosts. Friendly and informative. She was able to have our room cleaned first allowing us to check in very early. Let's be real... this not an old ranch style motel tryin to be a Hilton. It is old school CHARM at it's finest. We always stay in room 15. A two bedroom one bath, full kitchen and FULL size fridge. The AC in this room is blasting cold. Very refreshing after a long day fishing and chillin by a stream. Rollaway beds are available. Crystal clear pool is most often yours alone, no one uses it so enjoy. We also enjoyed the downtown convince. The hotel is walking distance to the Great Basin Bakery. So bottom line STAY, PLAY, FISH, RELAX at the Bishop Village Motel you'll be glad you did. read more

Stayed here for two nights while visiting family who lived close by. First the positive: it's off the main drag so the traffic noise is minimal and parking is free but limited. Unfortunately I won't stay here again and I don't recommend that you do either. Don't believe the inflated ratings. You can find better places for the same price. The cleanliness of the room was poor. There was mold on the ceiling of the bathroom and the carpet was crunchy to walk on. There was a strange smell like something had died in the walls. The toilet was wedged between the wall and the bathtub so you couldn't move your arms to wipe. The bathroom window wouldn't open and there was no fan in the bathroom. The bed was uncomfortable (a king mattress on two smaller box springs) and there was only one side table to put cell phones and such on. The TV is tiny. There was literally no staff there that I saw even once, including at check in. Our chain lock was broken and the door lock was loose, maybe kicked in at some point? My wife is mad at me and may never let me pick the motel again. read more

I'm not sure how this motel got a 4 star average, but that was the reason I chose it. The bed had two large indentations on each side where people had slept over time, leaving a hump in the center. The smell of raid was evident. There was a cheesy plastic plant in the room covered with dust and the leaves that probably have been plucked from it by children were collecting in the basket it was in... Along with more dust. A thick layer of dust on top of the heater. No hair dryer. No working bath. The main door did not seem secure and there was no dead bolt or chain. The carpet was dirty looking and black around the edges from shampooing and felt gummy when I accidentally walked on it with bare feet. I want to encourage the management of this establishment to go visit the next place I stayed, where I paid the same price. Best Western in Fallon. We cruised into Bishop after dark on a Tuesday night in the middle of February. Many of the outlying motels were closed for the season and my husband and I were the only guests for the night at The Bishop Village Motel. We were pulling his motorcycle in our utility trailer. We had tried the Motel 6 first, but their parking lot doesn't allow for trailers. We were tired and needed something right away! The receptionist at The Village was really great. She checked us into the cutest little two bedroom place and accepted our dog with only a $15 extra charge. It was super clean with nice bedding and big fluffy towels. This place is truly old school and the hubby and I guessed the building to be from the '30's. I will definitely stay here again if I am ever in Bishop! read more

First of all, much kudos to the girl working the office. She was as friendly and accommodating as could be, 5 stars for her alone. This is a great motel with the old school charm. Probably built in the 50's or so? Updated to what you need with a flat screen and wifi, but left with that vintage feel you want. As good as it gets for us motorcycle riders. This place is like that comfortable old sweater you keep coming back to. Sure, it's a bit worn, a bit stained, definitely not a fashion statement. But you've kept it all these years because it's good, reliable, fits just right, and keeps you warm at night. High-maintenance types would call this place "dated", but I love the kitschy vintage feel, like you're living in a modern film noir, with 1940s style tile and coil heaters in the bathrooms, and delightfully mis-matching furniture and decor in the room. Bonus is the amazing black-out curtains in the windows. Kept our room totally dark when we needed to sleep in! (We stayed in Room #11) Yeah the place is old, but the sheets are clean, the towels smell fresh, the shower is plenty hot and the pool, though on the small side, is very well-kept and a fun indulgence when you're on the road. Kudos to the owners who provided personalized service and were quick to respond and resolve an issue during our stay. Definitely coming back the next time we motor up the 395. read more

We stayed in room 8 specially for the kitchenette. This motel is old but kept well and clean. Needs some updating but we're not very picky. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, toaster, stove, oven, sink, pots, pans, and dishes. We were able to make dinner and breakfast comfortably. We called at the last minute and were able to get the last room available for 3 nights. Room number 3. There were some good things and some bad things. I'll start with the good. The beds were comfortable. I slept like a rock. The place was clean. And, it was cleaned daily. Even the soap was nice. The forced AC kept the room cold when it hit 102 outside. The owner is nice, and she never bothered us after check-in. We were able to bring our dog. I think they charge a $10 cleaning fee for the dog, but whatever, that's normal. There are lots of nice grass areas for potty time, one of which was right outside of the room. Endless hotwater. Assigned parking for each unit. No worries about finding a spot to put your car. Relatively cheap. AND...No bed bugs! The not so goods: The pillows were pretty flat. I needed 2, but like I said, the bed was comfy and made up for it. The toilet is RIGHT BETWEEN THE WALL AND THE TUB...so if you aren't exactly skinny, you might have a problem going to the bathroom. They probably should have put in a shower stall instead of a tub so it wouldn't be so cramped. Speaking of the tub, there was no drain plug, so if you wanted to take a bath, well, you couldn't. The wi-fi was also spotty. It was down during parts of the day. I'm pretty sure we found our new spot, especially since there are no bedbugs like our old go-to spot. read more

This is a very old, yet cute motel. When I entered the office, I waited about 2-3 minutes for someone to arrive. I had to ring the desk bell and had to wait another full minute. The girl at the desk was friendly and did a good job. The motel was clean and freshly painted outside.The inside was clean, however there was a terrible smell that just wouldn't go away. The room I had, had a queen bed, a tiny tiny bathroom, and a small kitchen that was loaded with everything you need to cook a meal and eat. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with clean towels and bathroom items. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay here again. read more

Accommodations in the eastern sierras are absurdly expensive, and the Bishop Village Motel is no bargain, but at $90 a night (plus taxes) for a room with two beds and a kitchenette it wasn't outrageously expensive either. Our room was large, clean and tidy, though tired and outdated. It was quite large, with a queen size bed and a double bed. The beds and bedding were fairly comfortable. The kitchenette was small and there were only 2 chairs, but it wasn't too big a deal for one night. A larger problem was the lack of internet access - the wireless did not reach that side of the hotel and the wired internet did not seem to work.
