We stayed here last Friday night. (Before heading in to Death Valley National Park.) The location on Main Street is super convenient, walkable to restaurants, and easy to get in and out of Bishop. I had a positive experience staying at the Holiday Inn at Bishop. Check-in process was smooth, front desk people were friendly & told us the best place to park to access our rooms. I like how spacious the parking lot is. The location is ideal, right in the center of everything. Walking distance from Schat's Bakery & other restaurants, & right next to the park, so it's great for people who have dogs staying with them. I did notice there are a good amount of guests that have pets with them here - so this business is pet friendly! Our room was ready by the time we checked in & was clean. Walls can be a little thin, but we still had a good night's sleep. My favorite part of the stay was the continental breakfast included with our room - sausages, eggs, gravy & biscuits & all the usual options like cereal & fruit & pancakes. The staff were always on site, cleaning tables & refilling food. Such a filling meal, especially for a day of snowboarding ahead. We didn't use the extra amenities but they were nice to have - indoor pool, sauna, exercise room. Overall we would be delighted to come back! read more

When I initially arrived, they said the room was ready. I went up to the room and the beds weren't even made. I went back down to the front desk. They stuck me in another room, which didn't get below 74° until after midnight. It was hot enough outside, it didn't need to be hot in the room too. They have a small indoor pool and sauna, lacking ventilation. Be prepared, it's HOT as hell when you walk into the indoor pool area. Money needs to be put back into this hotel, especially into the air conditioning units. The rooms need a little TLC too. Believe me when I say I'm being generous with my YELP two star review. We stayed in this hotel twice on a 4 day trip to Reno. Once going and then one coming back. This is the best hotel in bishop in my opinion. Clean rooms and a friendly staff! This will be hotel for us in our travels on the 395. We told about a Cherri plum tree on the property that you could pick the fruit from. Which we did they were tasty. The breakfast in the morning was good and the fresh cookies at night are a treat. read more

Unable to cancel a room due to travel and weather conditions (they make their own policies and are completely different from other IHG properties.) Was headed to So Cal. and was able to cancel rooms down there as they understood the rough weather conditions and event cancellations happening. They ambushed me with a $20 a night "hotel fee" that was not mentioned when I reserved on line. It was also not mentioned by the clerk when I checked in. I just saw the extra charges on my credit card. When I contacted the hotel, they said tough luck. I initialed the charge when I checked in, along with no pets and all the other stuff you have to initial for. Like who really reads all that at 9 at night after driving 500 miles. Besides, it's too late once you check in, what are you going to do? Go looking for more honest business and have them charge you for the cancellation fee anyways? read more

Two nights here on the front and back ends of a climbing trip. The front desk staff do not seem well organized or trained. The same question will often yield different answers from different individuals. One point of confusion is their $20 parking fee/amenity fee, depending on who you ask. In either case, it is far out of line for a hotel to hide a 10%+ price bump. There is no shortage of parking and this property really does not offer any unusual amenities. Housekeeping is not very good as evidenced by the long hair (obviously not mine) found all over both rooms I occupied. Totally average hotel with decent central location, average bed and shower. The problem is that the TV has two remotes, one of which doesn't work so you can't adjust the volume or mute the TV. In addition, the TV has a useless white light on the bottom of the unit that has no purpose and lights up the entire room at night - Why?!? I had to unplug the TV at night to sleep. Room was okay for the one night. The morning breakfast was a huge disappointment. One staff member to work both breakfast and front desk. She was nowhere to be found and the timer for good was beeping. No cinnamon rolls which is usually the best part of breakfast. When she did come back, she was on her phone with ear buds. We are on a road trip back from Southern California and had booked this place in advance to break up the long drive. When we arrived, the front desk was welcoming and explained everything to us such as where the fitness center, swimming pool and breakfast dining area was. The room was on the ground floor and was very clean and well stocked. It was very comfortable and we able to get a very solid night of sleep. Breakfast was crowded as this dining area is a small but had a lot to chose from. Eggs, sausage, pancakes, fruit, cereal etc. It was a great experience and we will look into staying here again whenever we pass through and need a place to stay. read more

I have four issues with this hotel. 1) They charge an extra fee, so be careful before you book online. They used to call it a resort fee, now it's a hotel fee. Sorry, I don't pay extra hidden fees unless I am at a top-notch resort and I actually get something above and beyond a standard hotel. Stop hiding B.S. fees, and maybe you will get more business. 2) If you stay on the bottom floor, be careful; the back windows are often unlocked and you can see evidence of people coming and going through the windows by the damage on the screens. 3) Parking can be tough if you have a larger vehicle. Often you have a million LA Water & Power trucks, fire trucks, or contractor trucks in the lot. 4) If you rely on an elevator, be advised it is not located in the center of the hotel. It is located near the back of the hotel, and it is a long walk with heavy items. The staff is fine, and the hotel is in the center of the downtown area. read more

This isn't the best Holiday Inn Express I've stayed at, but it's what there was in Bishop. I get IHG rewards points, so I stay with this chain. The place is older and could use some work. The staff is friendly and makes do with what they have. Breakfast is fine, about the same at all Holiday Inn Expresses. The room was fine, everything worked and the wifi was fast enough to watch Netflix on the laptop. I think prices here are on the high side, but maybe that's just Bishop. At least I get a lot of points staying here. read more

I booked almost a moth in advance for a all accesible mobility room and when I get here they said they don't have anything me if I want another room I'll have to pay extra. This makes no sense I got a dirty small room right in front of the lobby because where you can't even sleep because you can hear every single person walking by it's annoying!! While on the road to Mammoth, we had a mechanical issue with our truck that forced us to spend the (Sunday) night in Bishop. Having a dog, we were concerned of not finding a place. The folks at this Holiday Inn were super nice and sympathetic to our situation. They fixed us up and even gave us an extended check out the next day while our vehicle was repaired. NOT DOG FRIENDLY!! They allow dogs but charge 25.00 per dog per night and then threaten to charge you more if they get complaints about barking. It's always been a favorite spot to visit in the past but the current employee (kinda chubby with curly hair) he wasn't very nice. He defintely did not make us feel welcomed. My ANGELS !!! To say that Ipuni and Susan saved my day is an understatement. I was distraught upon arriving at Bishop Holiday Inn. A very stressful drive with my pooch had me ready to call 911 for Emergency help...no exaggeration! My amazing dog Gracie has slipped her foot into a caribineer on a our drive up from San Diego and now she was in pain as her foot was stuck . The vet was closed and the only other option was the fire department! There was some confusion with my room reservation and Susan was already taking care of accomodating my pup when we both came walking back in after I went to check on her in the car. Susan and Ipuni both immediately ONLY cared about helping my injured pup. Ipuni asked if she could help and I said "YES!" with tears in my eyes. My little baby was hurting and I really didnt know what to do to get the "ankle bracelet" off without really hurting her. Ipuni told me she had seen this before. She has dogs and has helped with this situation before. I knew I was in the right place. I was in shock how sweet and caring Ipuni and Susan were, My dog was immediately calmed by their presences. Ipuni went and got a small tool and returned and "BOOM!"... VOILA ..like a magic trick .. IT WAS OFF!! My dog IMMEDIATELY dove into back rolls of GLEE and I damm near cried. I was more than relieved. My room was perfect after Susan made some accommodations. Our vacation went from ruined to SAVED! I cannot say enough about the impact Ipuni and Susan had on me and my dog Gracie. read more

Stayed here 6/11/22-6/12/22. My daughter left her backpack which was a birthday present, had her birthday money from her grandpa in it, had a pouch from Japan her sister sent her, her sketch book, her water pick for her new braces along with all her other dental stuff. Oh had an AirTag in it. We got home and realized it was left. We called because we could see it was in the room....they said they didn't find anything. Then it travelled to a residence in Bishop. Wonder how that happened. Then it travelled to another residence. I called the hotel and informed the girl of the situation and she asked for the address. I gave it to her and my number and she said she would call back. Soon after the AirTag was destroyed. These were a 10 year olds birthday presents and had a lot of sentimental value to her and she was crushed and crying. Obviously staff stole it and took it home. This location is now charging a resort fee. This place is by no means is a resort. They should pay me $12 since it's a half a mile walk from the lobby to the elevator. The total bill is $160 (govt rate), but I will not do it. Styaing across the street for $100. I am an IHG member, but the few hundred points are not worth it to stay there anymore. read more

Horrible customer service at this location. I had reserved/paid for two queen beds. Upon arrival, I am forced to get a room with ONE bed. The rude staff member working the front desk was unapologetic. I asked her if I could get the room I had reserved and she just shook her head and said no. She didn't try looking for a room with two beds (which again, I HAD RESERVED). After a 10 hour drive, the last thing I want is to have to sleep on the floor because I rather give the bed to my parents. read more

I was not to sure about this place when we pulled up. Two story building different from what we are use to. But the lady at the desk was super nice we talked for a long time and she told us about going to the very bottom of Yosemite to Mariposa Grove and seeing the Giant Sequoias. The rooms were really clean and looked fairly new. There is a Park next to the Holiday Inn so it would be a great place for the kids. It was a little pricey but there was restaurants with in walking distance. The place was super clean. Friendly people and free Breakfast. So it was well worth the money read more

I'm sorry to say I had a horrible experience with this Holiday Inn Express in Bishop CA. I had a confirmed reservation. I arrived around 10:30pm. Checked into the hotel, went up to my room, opened the door, there were items on the counter. I went back downstairs to make sure I had the correct room, I had the correct room, the front desk person went up to check the room. The room was occupied, apparently there was a mixup with the staff not communicating with other staff, that they had a group check out then checked back into the hotel. The front desk person said her manager Trese McKellips advised her to just let us know they will give us more points and sorry. This didn't solve the problem. Most places would have called around to other hotels and paid for their mixup. Not this hotel! What is also disappointing, I emailed Holiday Inn Express corporate office, they have not answered me as of today. I guess they don't care about their guests. read more

Great location. It looks as if the place was recently upgraded. Clean everything and pleasant personnel. We book via phone at the last minute and where accommodated in a jiffy. Bishop is a quaint little town and this hotel is conveniently located close Schat's bakery. Their continental breakfast was great. Eggs, gravy and sausage patties among other things. We woke up late and headed down to eat 30 minutes before breakfast was over. There was still plenty of food and the place was kept clean, despite the many guest dining. I am not surprised to see low reviews. I am a Spire member and participate in the Ambassador program. Fair to say that I send a great deal of my life (and money) in hotels. My daughter and I recently stopped in Bishop and were declined a room on rewards. However, a room was available but management raised the rate to $190 per night (over $225 with fees). Seems they wanted to decline the rewards stay and gouge in the pricing. Note that IHG tried to convince the hotel management to be fair. This event has completely shifted my loyalty program to Hilton. No more IHG for me. I hope you will consider another hotel. read more

Room has awful, musty smell. No amount of airing out seems to help. They're offering "2 for $1" drinks in the lobby that expired in 2018. It's June 21st, 2019. There is NO parking. Arrived back last night to be told I could "park across the street in the bowling alley." Final straw for me was this morning, with a "do not disturb" sign on my door handle, my door was unlocked by a key card, opened briefly, then shut---WITHOUT latching properly. No knocking, no one announcing "house keeping"---just opened and then improperly closed. I'm traveling with photography gear and If I hadn't been in the room at the time, my room would have been able to be accessed by anyone walking by, as the door doesn't lock without pulling/shoving the door shut. Unsafe rooms, expired food in their "store" up front, no parking, awful odor... Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

You saw my note that said I was traveling with a newborn, right? I mean, I was standing at the front desk long enough for you to give me a heads up; the morning staff didn't check out the person before us, apparently, so I get to stand there while the lady fights with the computer to check me in - 1 1/2 hours AFTER check in officially started. I was supposed to stay at this hotel for a night on May 20th as I was planning a Route 395 loop around the Sierra Nevadas. I had booked this hotel through Expedia so I understood the cancellation and booking rules. Unfortunately my trip was delayed and later cancelled because one of our vehicles broke down on our way to Bishop. I called them initially and they were nice enough to push the night stay for Monday, May 22. When it became apparent that our car would not be fixed in time, I called Expedia to cancel the night stay or maybe postpone this trip to later in the summer well before the 24 hour deadline. Every other hotel understood the travesty and cancelled or modified my bookings. This hotel manager needs to take lessons about other hotel's customer service. Expedia called the hotel and stated the hotel didn't want to refund the money or postpone the trip for us to visit at a later time. Expedia confirmed that going forward I would have to go through the hotel for the change of the date. When I contacted the hotel, the hotel manager stated it was Expedia's rules that dictated that they couldn't refund or modify the reservation. The manager was apparently hoping to give me the run around and eventually hope I forget about the $256 per night x 2 rooms = $512 that they charged my credit card. When I reached out to the hotel manager again, his message verbatim to me on the chat was: WE WILL NOT BE REFUNDING THE CHARGE! I replied with, we are not asking for a refund, we are asking to change the night so we can still visit the Bishop area and support the local economy at a later time. I want to share the disastrous fiasco I had with management at this specific Holiday Inn Express. Im in shock that in this day and age of technology, the hotel manager would actually disrespect and treat potential customers with such appalling disregard. With the manager replying to me in such fashion, Im thinking that even if they modify the booking, I will not feel physically safe to stay at this hotel and much less put my family at risk with this manager running the hotel. Unbelievable how this manager would lack such respect for a customer that has always stayed at Holiday Inn Expresses across the US and have been a loyal customer for years. This manager needs to be retrained and moved out of this position if Holiday Inn wants to keep their slogan intact: Our Purpose of True Hospitality for Good. read more

No complaints about the location of this Holiday Inn Express. It was located by Bishop's Visitor Center, and close by to Schat's Bakkery!! One of the older Holiday Inn Express hotels that we've stayed at and it shows throughout the premises. Although the area was quiet despite it being on the main street, the room itself was quite loud. I did not sleep well during our 2 night stay. Some of the equipment was too loud! The A/C was especially disturbing! Tried turning it off, but then the room would get too hot. Good thing is that they are renovating the hotel. The accommodations should be much improved in a couple of months. Breakfast wasn't as good as their other branches. Do not know if they have a different supplier of their hot foods than the other locations, but it sure tasted different. For example, were those really scrambled eggs? Even the cinnamon rolls tasted strange. At least the apples and bananas were terrific. Service was fine and helpful from the entire staff that we came in contact with. Would recommend staying here if you are in Bishop. I have a feeling that they will be greatly improved after all the remodeling and updating of the property. For now, though, 3.5 stars. read more

We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and our room was very comfortable and clean. This hotel is also conveniently located, within walking distance of many restaurants. We enjoyed the full breakfast in the morning, and all the hotel staff was very helpful. We will be back. read more

My wife is terminally ill with stage 4 breast cancer. She has in home nursing care and I recently gifted one of her very loving and caring nurses a night at the Holiday Inn Express in Bishop, Ca. When checking in the room reeked of smoke but there were no other rooms available. Upon checking out, her nurse was charged an additional $250.00 for smoking in the room, something they would never do. Neither her nurse nor her husband smoke and both lead a very healthy lifestyle. In addition they were traveling with their young children, one of whom is terribly allergic to smoke. They have been unable to get a refund of the $250.00 which is just wrong. We are preparing a small claims action and would suggest anyone with a similar experience consider doing the same. It's very easy to do it remotely here in California and you don't need to show up in person for the hearing. I also have filed a complaint with The Better Business Bureau, also easy to do. They will mail you the form to fill out and return. read more

Great experience - just got home from seeing the fall colors and traveled with our dog. We got the generic non smoking suite which did not disappoint. Great location near the back of the hotel and huge room with full kitchen and living room. Beds were comfortable and having two televisions meant I didn't have to watch the baseball playoffs at night :) . Beds were super comfy and darkening blinds really helped. Lots of room for clothes - loved the small walk in closet to put suitcases out of the way. Coffee available at all times of the day and in the afternoon they bake fresh cookies. Summer and Desi were both professional and accomodating and helped make the stay great! The only down sides are there isn't a real grassy area for pups to pee but it is next door to a park and also I think that if you don't request housekeeping on a daily basis, you shouldn't have to pay the $25 a day for a dog, maybe just a one time fee....but other than that, it was a great deal, clean and safe hotel and we enjoyed our stay. read more

I had booked a reservation with them for 1 night and within the hour of me booking the room, due to some circumstances (im a firefighter, so a fire broke out) I called them back to cancel and the gentleman I spoke with said he would cancel and not charge me.. they still charge me for that night which was $260. I called multiple times to resolve the issue and the manager ignored my messages. I don't write many reviews especially not bad ones, but this hotel definitely deserves it. I don't want them to take advantage of you like they did to me. Horrible business being run out there. read more
