Old school restaurant nice staff from the Waitress to the kitchen people. from the entrance it look small ,but once you walk in it is spacious. The food was tasty and homemade flavors not to greasy . Pretty cool little diner with an obvious neighborhood following. But they were more than happy to let an outsider come in an enjoy their fare. The menu had a lot to offer and DH and I took a little long than usual to make up our minds. But I ended up selecting the Smithfield Benny (one of many varieties of eggs benedict offered) and DH opted for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop as our brunch selections. I was all excited as I assumed I would be getting country ham with my Smithfield Benny, but it turned out to be only regular ham. It was still very tasty but I am a great lover of country ham. The Benny was served with a generous side of crispy hash browns and was a very filling brunch. DH's pork chop was a sight to behold. It was offered to him with a side of either brown or white gravy (he chose white), eggs, hash browns and choice of bread. DH quickly cleaned his plate. DH lamented that it is to bad we do not have this kind of place in our Tuckahoe neighborhood so I imagine that we will be back to Eat 33 soon. read more

If you're looking for a greasy spoon where you can get huge portions of breakfast all-day, Eat 33 is A-OK in my book. It's a little shack on Staples Mill Road that if you blink you might miss, but it does have its own parking lot. The inside is basically a diner with a dining room attached, and inexplicably has a Tommy Bahama tropical theme that I don't hate. I stopped by at 11:00am on a Tuesday after being dismissed early from court (yay!), and was absolutely ravenous. I noticed that the demographic of the other diners, as my father would say it in the warmest possible way, were "old fogies," retired locals who seem to go to the same place to eat at least once a week, if not every day. It's possible that it was just the time of day, but I liked seeing the two waitresses greeting almost all the patrons by name and exchanging pleasantries about their families. Even as a first timer service was friendly and almost suspiciously fast; I lingered to enjoy two enormous and very strong $4 mimosas, but the regulars were in and out within 20 minutes or so. They have all the standard breakfast and lunch fare that you'd expect from a hole in the wall diner plus a few interesting items like grilled meatloaf. I got one of the specials, a breakfast hash with scrambled eggs, green peppers, onion, potatoes, sausage, and white gravy. True story: I love diners. There's something about the lack of pretention there. People are generally looking for a good, quick meal with no fuss. Eat 33 is located off Staples Mill in a blink and you'll miss it building. Recently, they opened up the outdoor patio area facing Staples Mill to accommodate COVID traffic. Inside you'll find a clean, no muss no fuss interior with brightly colored walls. People watching is great and this place is always hopping. You'll see everyone from all walks of life here but everyone treated like a guest. Prices are very reasonable. The best part of Eat 33 is the service, which is impeccable. The wait staff is extremely attentive and willing to cater to whatever dietary restrictions you might have. My last order with a co-worker was a take-out order for lunch. We ordered two omelettes (hers mushroom, swiss, onion and spinach with a biscuit and grits while mine was a philly cheese omelet with a side of collards). My co-worker raved about her omelet, especially the homemade biscuit. My omelet wasn't bad - the eggs were a little over cooked but that could have been just from the heat of the eggs and the time it took for me to get back to work. We've been pre-COVID and been pleased with the food when it's literally seconds off the grill. Best bet - eat in if you can. Highly suggest the salmon benedict on the weekends. read more

The Staples Mill Area looks dingy and this restaurant does as well if you're causally driving through but don't judge it from the outside. A friend and I wanted a low-key, non chain breakfast spot and we came to try it out. The inside is adorable, not tightly packed like you may assume, and we were greeted quickly. The menu has a lot of different options and we went at 8AM and the Brunch was offered as well which is great! I had the Hermitage and oh my god. I am not typically a fan of breakfast food AT ALL and I am not familiar with the biscuits or gravy sausage types of food but this was GOOD. Their hashbrows were awesome as well with the right enough of crunch. They also serve alcohol and have a small bar area. Overall, if you like dives come here for a homey breakfast. My wife and I went there today. I ordered the Hilliard, eggs over medium, one egg was normal, the other was light in color, the yolk almost white. I told the waitress that it did not look right to me ( I did not want to get sick). I asked could she replace it. She replied " it looks fine to me, I see them all the time" walked away. I do not complain about food, almost never, I pushed it aside and did not eat it. I told another waitress later she said " I can get you another if you want it " but she I could tell she really did not want to. Whatever happened to customer service and pleasing the customer when food is obviously not satisfied ?I am not going back. This is one of those family run dives that is only open for breakfast and lunch. I call it a dive, not because it is dirty but because it is small, local place where the regulars know each other and the staff knows the regulars. The menu is creative and offered a good combo or traditional dishes and those with a twist. My favorite is the Rappahannock Bennie, and eggs Benedict with a fried oyster. The catfish eggs and grits is also a favorite. Another staple is the Bloody Mary or the orange crush. Both delicious due to the pelletized ice that is used. Had breakfast with my gf, her two children, & her friend this morning. We were quickly seated and our server was very friendly to us and the children which was very nice. My husband, son and I enjoyed a meal at Eat 33 and loved the all day breakfast menu. My Route 33 frittata was tasty and filling and the hashbrown potatoes tasted like home made. My husband enjoyed the chili dogs which were split and grilled and said the fries were delicious but that next time he'll order the onion rings because they looked so good passing by our table. Son had eggs over easy with bacon and a biscuit. The place was packed and still the service was fast and friendly. Would definitely go again. Ive heard so much about this place and went there today for a breakfast meeting for work. I hate to say it didnt live up to the hype for me personally. It was okay, but it wasnt great. Big value for a tiny place! My first time here was a good one. However if you are not a regular you better get here early to get a seat, that's how small it is. Everyone knows in each other in here for sure. I had chili as an appetizer, with jalapeños of course, it was very good. A Tex Mex style chili for sure, get the bowl instead of the cup, for the price. For lunch I got the special which was fried trout, collard greens, and mac & cheese. For the price you can't beat it. All of the food was served hot and fresh, and on time. It looks small from staples mill road (this certainly wouldn't be a place most would find if casually driving by) but it is spacious inside. Every time we come here, there would be a lot of people but we are always seated quickly. The interior is no-frills, but the service is always quick and friendly. There are a lot of options on the menu (there are one standard menu and one special one only available on weekends), and we have tried probably 40% of the the items on the menu.
