Justin is one of the best bartenders I've ever had. Fun, engaging, knowledgeable. Food was delicious and affordable. Open late which is a huge plus around here. I probably should have reviewed this place a long time ago. This is probably my wife and my favorite bar in Omaha. The food is amazing, delicious, and cheap. Probably the best bar/drunk food you can get, with chicken empanadas and nachos to die for. Ian, the manager (and bartender a lot of the time), is the man. He was probably the reason I became a regular, and the reason that I always come back. I went here to cap off the day of my 21st birthday with a few margaritas with my boyfriend & best friend. I'd heard good things about the place from a coworker and was excited to check it out. Let me start this off by saying that my boyfriend & I both spent quite a bit of time working in the food service industry, so we know how restaurants work. We know what good service is, & we have standards. We know the difference between a good server & a bad server, and we're always super nice to our servers regardless because hey, we know that restaurant guests mostly suck. So we come in (it's not busy whatsoever) and sit near the back in these nice leather seats. We sit for a few minutes chatting, our server comes over, so we start ordering our drinks with her and she asks for my ID. I proudly show it to her (it's my 21st!) and she stares at it for a minute & kind of looks confused so I politely point out the date to her & she says "um yeah, I know where the date is. I've been bartending for awhile now." Okay, be more off-putting. I check IDs at my job & people point out the date to me all the time, but it doesnt annoy me & I would never be rude about it. Whatever. Small rude comment right? I order a frozen raspberry margarita. "Oh, the only frozen margaritas we have are strawberry & lime." Okay, I thought it said differently on the menu, but no problem! I like strawberry. "Okay, I'll take a frozen strawberry margarita." She corrects me, "A BLENDED margarita." Look, they're the same thing, and your menu says frozen. So what's the issue? My boyfriend orders a Red Bull margarita and asks if he can have it blended. She says no, because apparently they would pour in the Red Bull after blending it and it would melt the drink, which doesn't really make sense at all. But again, whatever. She drops off our drinks & doesn't come back after that, which was completely fine with us because of the attitude, and because when my boyfriend goes up to the bar for more drinks he finds that the bartender is pretty great! He even comes back to check on us later on. I ask him for another frozen margarita and he lists off all the flavors of frozen margaritas they offer...including raspberry. So, I don't really know why this girl felt the need to act rudely when she doesn't even know all her stuff. I initially gave it two stars for the great drinks, decor, & overall feel of this place but I had to give it another star for the awesome bartender who made our night turn out so well. If we hadn't had to deal with the initial bad service I definitely would have given Eat The Worm 4 stars! read more

I thought I had good margaritas in the past, but then I discovered the Worm. WOW! Order a hand mixed margarita with your choice of tequila (no pre-mix used here). Fantastic. Top it off with a couple of tacos, the spicy wings, or nachos and you have a great night. read more

I have always had a great experience here, whether with a group or dragging myself in after a long shift (I work at another restaurant in the old market) the bartenders and kitchen guys are always friendly and quick. The food is pretty good (try the wings!) for bar food. I keep coming back for a good reason. No pretension, and they are happy to help which is what I need after a long day of serving other people. I go here at least once a week. Often to get some food in my stomach before going out; sometimes during the week if I'm too lazy to cook and want a cheap meal. For the price you can't beat the food. This is the cheapest good food I've found living downtown for a year now. The only times I've been a bit disappointed was when I'm in with a group and sit in the back. A couple times now it feels like the wait staff forgot about us and we've often had to go to the bar to order. read more

Eat the Worm was the last stop for a friend's 21st get together downtown. We arrived around 1230 and found a seat in the high top booths. The bartender(Kate?), Ian, Travis, and one other fellow whose name I didn't catch were working. As late in the night as it was, the entirety of the staff was super friendly. We were met with a smile and great service each time we went to order another round of drinks or food. The margaritas were among the best I've had, nachos and burrito tasted amazing. Prior to the night I had sworn off drinking downtown but I will more than likely make the trip just to see these guys and gal again! read more

Anything with Tequila is a go. as far as drinks-mixed 100 % perfect, prices are above average. Food, any of there food, is above taco bell, and not quite hitting the "Mexican Restaurant" quality. Staff is good. They are friendly. If you life Tequilla, go here, if not seek other venues. read more

My husband and I were in town for a long weekend. We stumbled upon this place and fell in love. We are very picky about our tequilas and really appreciated their knowledge and wide selection. The manager and his bar tenders were all so attentive and willing to make conversation when we wanted to. We went back again for food and drinks again the next night. NEVER EAT HERE. This restaurant is a disgrace to my community. Multiple times I have witnessed it serve underage individuals who should not legally drink alcohol. But, the push over point was one that I experienced this evening. i purchased a burrito from this restaurant and they had given me an incorrect order. I approached the checkout with my correct receipt to dispute this error due to allergies. The clerk refused to fix my order and blamed the issue on me. I decided it was not worth the fight even though I had the correct receipt. Before I left I decided to order a to go order of another two items for a friend and myself. I was charged DOUBLE the amount that their menu stated and then was told that I would need to swipe my card again because he needed to charge me an additional amount. I said I would not be swiping again and I would like to be refunded for this because I did not want to wait and did not want to deal with an additional issue. The same person came up to me and said that he couldn't refund my charge because I had already swiped my card. He then called me a "little girl" which was uncalled for, especially because I had been understanding until that point. I asked him to refund my card again and he said no. I then went to sit down with the small group of people I was with. The employee then came up to me to tell me that he had made the refund and to never come back. At that point I had become upset and told him I had two orders and he had messed up both and that all I wanted was to be refunded for my charges and to leave. He told me no and that Me and my "little girl friends" shouldn't come back to this restaurant ever again. At that point, I walked out of the restaurant and waited until my friend's received their to go orders. The same individual approached one of my friends and said he wouldn't refund my card because he said my order was wrong. Not only was this sexist and degrading, but I was aggressively charged for items I never received. read more

Seriously. This place is the tits. It's not a classy joint or anything, but the queso is what brings me back over and over. It's on Howard St. in the Old Market. They open at 3:00 M-Sat 5:00 on Sunday. (Which is kinda lame) They also don't do Happy Hour (kinda lame also) but I enjoy coming in at 3:00 when they open for a Modelo and a half order of nachos. The chicken is bland so I usually get the Al Pastor or beef. Again-it's all about the homemade queso that sinks to the bottom and soaks up the chips. Everything is made to order. No frozen crap here. Even the taquitos are made from flour tortillas, stuffed w/ meat, queso, pico and fried to order. They make fresh Jalepeño margies if you ask. They will kick your ass. Any margarita here will kick your ass. Even the frozen strawberry one. You've been warned. The clientele is quite the mix and sometimes odd for the being in the Old Market. I tend to leave before 9:00 with the occasional pop in for late night eats and get it to go. I would like to see them install better seating, so I stick to the bar. What I will say about this place is that the food is super cheap and very decent for fast food Mexican, but I also wanted to warn people not to use a debit or credit card. Our bill was 35.00, we used a credit card and left 42.00 with Tip. We then received a 55.00 charge to our account!! In all honesty, my food experience here was one of the worst I've ever had. I ordered guacamole as an appetizer and it tasted so bland and like it was pulled out of the freezer. I thought, "okay, maybe the entree will be better," so I tried to keep a positive outlook on the food. I ordered the veggie tostada, which was so greasy I could have saved the grease that leaked from my food and used it for my own cooking for at least 3 years. The beans on my tostada were cold, giving me the impression that they were pulled from the fridge without being reheated. The food was bland, greasy, and always seeming to lack something--perhaps it was the love or thoughtfulness that went into making my food. It's loud, busy, the staff will overlook you and let people cut inline (get assertive if you wanna eat here), but the food is worth it. If you're not a party-goer, go before the bars get out. I had not been to Eat the Worm in a while and decided to stop in there for a quick dinner last night. We ordered our food at the food line, per usual, and then had a seat at the end of the bar. We got our apps, ate that. Then got our food, ate that. Total experience was about 45 minutes. Never once received help from the 3 bartenders. I was hoping to get a margarita, especially since it was national margarita day. We Did not even get glanced at. Their backs were turned the whole time and The bar was full with guests with empty glasses.I don't think I've ever sat at a bar and did not receive any form of acknowledgement, I guess we should should of got up from the bar and order drinks from the food line. Coming from 9 years of restaurant experience and 5 years as a bartender, this had to be the most baffling experience I've ever had. I never thought I liked tequila - until Kyle the Bartender convinced me into trying REAL tequila! This bar is now nearly the only bar in the metro area I go to on a regular basis. I enjoy going earlier in the evening when it's less busy (the Old Market gets too crazy for me!). I have never had bad service here from any of the tenders, though Kyle is by far my fave. The food is decent - nachos are a superb drunk snack and I love that they have the HOT hot sauce for my spice fiend of a boyfriend. Such a wonderful environment and educated bartenders who are rather educated on their tequila! I highly recommend to anyone who goes downtown, though you may need a cab ride home! read more

one star for having a full bar and another star for being open so late. I was in Omaha for the college world series which all in all was a GREAT time! Omaha is actually a city and not just some small town, this restaurant is located in old town which is really unique with lots of history. Lots of bars, restaurant and small retail shops located all within a few block radius. Obviously it was probably the busiest time of the year for them but hey this should be the time when you shine. After finishing off several cocktails we realized it was 1:30 am and everyone i was with was hungry we were recommended "EAT THE WORM" for some late night munchies. Food was mediocre at the very best, and this is considering we were all several cocktails and a few shots into our night. The crowd was a little rough and there was a brawl out front literally at the same time we tried to walk into place. After the cops cleared the up the craziness we finally made it inside. One of us went to order and the others went to grab a place to sit, making sure we aren't too far from the door in case anything else happen. Again if I was drunk and super hungry at 2am and there was no where else to eat I would consider coming back otherwise you probably wouldn't catch me at this place.
