What I have always loved about Eating House is their ability to have fun with food and make dishes with unexpected combos that you crave again and again. Their now no longer new location on Giralda is a total favorite of mine. What to expect? The same creativity and deliciousness from Chef Giorgio and team - but with a bit more elegance. Makes sense, as the concept has evolved along with the team over the last decade. You can usually find me here at the bar. Jordan is slinging the best martinis and service in the game. I enjoy many of the cocktails but recently I tried a coconut daiquiri that was to die for. For dinner I love the tuna carpaccio, the updated carbonara, the Brussel sprouts and Parker rolls. To be honest the best way to enjoy EH is to come hungry and share a bunch of things with a group. Their brunch is delish too. I am partial to the burger and the tater tots. No mayo here, but a great black truffle ketchup. For those of you who miss old school eating house nostalgia- they have an epic tasting menu meant to share that is modeled after iconic miami eateries. You can grab that Tuesday - Thursday. My fave thing besides the food at EH is the staff. Everyone is so friendly, and once you visit for the first time they all treat you like family. Ran to Eating House when i saw they have butternut squash ravioli on the menu. Haven't been back to EH since they revamped and opened up again and man, i missed this place. The butternut squash ravioli was incredible, that fig balsamic was the best touch. Can't wait to come back soon especially for this. We also ordered the carbonara, they mixed it up for us which was really nice and we had our first bite and damn. They did that ish. It was so good, perfect al dente pasta, flavors were nicely balanced and it wasn't too overwhelming with truffle which can easily happen at other places. We also ordered the brussel sprouts caesar and it was crunchy, salty and peppery in all the right ways and refreshing, the salad is a bit dense and can fill you up quick, could really be a main meal dish. The drinks we got were the birds and the bees and the black parade. Both were amazing! Wish we got more drinks to try out. The finale, the carrot cake fritters and vanilla ice cream for dessert. WOW. They told us this had just come out new on the menu so we leaped to get the first look and I'm so glad we did. The carrot cake was extra cinnamon-y and moist, went so well with the cold vanilla cream. The fritter to ice cream ratio is off though and more ice cream is needed. Believe the hype. I've heard great things about EH and I have to say it lived up to the hype. I went last night with a large party of 20 and we all enjoyed the experience so much. Everything from the attentive servers, well mixed cocktails, and amazing tasting menu was exactly what I was hoping for. For drinks we went with the menu cocktails and everyone has positive reviews. I ordered The Birds & The Bees because it had Mezcal and it was such a great drink. Perfect mix of Smokey and sweet. We all ordered the Miami #2 Tasting Menu I truly can't rate each individual item because they were all soo good. This is my favorite Italian spot in the city. I have been a fan of eating house for years. I love how the menu changes and how the staples stay on the menu. The new location is beautiful, even though I miss the old locations charm. The bar is beautiful. I love the bartenders and the servers. Everyone is always super friendly, attentive, and offers great suggestions. I have had a lot of different stuff of the menu from that tar tar, to the tatertots, to the heirloom tomatos, everything is fresh and you can trust that it will give your taste buds something you haven't had before. My favorite is the carbonara. I have loved this dish since the first moment I tried it. I also always have to get the dirty cup. What a great evening! We have been by a few times but had never eaten there, we finally decided to try it out. We sat outside and immediately Dragen made sure our table wasn't wobbly on the cobblestones. We never had to ask for water refills, our table was cleared quickly and we were given great recommendations on entrees. Efrain was our server, also incredibly attentive and sweet and made sure everything was just perfect. Dominic came out also to make sure all was well, and brought us our delicious bread pudding dessert. From beginning to end we received superior service from these great guys, and the entrees were absolutely delicious! We shared the burger and the Carbonara pasta. We went to eating house for Miami spice and it was a great experience. It was three of us so we essentially tried the entire menu. Appetizers included burrata, kung pao cauliflower, and shrimp ajillo. All were delicious, although my favorite was the cauliflower. The sauce had a zing and spice to it which I definitely enjoyed. Lunch included pasta carbonara, snapper, and short ribs. Again, impressed with all the options. For me the flavor of the pasta was the best with the right amount of cheese and sauce. The short rib was chewy and the sauce seemed excessive. The snapper was also not my cup of tea. Last but not least were the desserts which were all delicious! Absolutely loved them all. This restaurant was my favorite from all the places we tried in Coral Gables this weekend. The interior is beautifully decorated in a modern but warm style, and the outdoor seating has plenty of umbrellas to protect from the South Florida sun. Our reservation was 12:30, but they still sat us immediately when we arrived closer to 12. Our server came to greet us promptly and our water was filled moments later by another server who was assisting. We ordered the tater tots with black truffle ketchup, grilled chicken sandwich, and captain crunch pancakes. The tater tots were incredibly addicting and I couldn't stop tossing them back as I waited for my pancakes. I thought nothing could top the tots, but then the pancakes arrived and changed my life. They are not diet friendly, but it is a warm and delicious explosion in each bite. If I hadn't eaten so many tots, I probably would have finished the pancakes. Back to Eating House for brunch & another excellent time with great food! We may have gone a wee bit overboard with carbs & fried foods but all was still delicious. Started with The Bird's & The Bees cocktail while my guy had a Bloody Mary. We these chose the Crispy Cheese & Pineapple (delicious buy SUPER heavy! Don't suggest eating any more than 3 cheese cubes per person), Crispy Florida Rock Shrimp (very good! I've been a fan on Eating House since the original location. I loved the ambiance of the original location, which I do miss in this location, but it does feel more upscale in the current location. The food is always great, as is the service. I like that most of the menu items change seasonally. The carbonara, a staple, is always great. Recent things we've tried and loved are the Peruvian corn "ceviche" and buttermilk fried chicken thighs. One of my all time faves from the original location was a burnt cabbage...sounds strange, but if they ever put burnt cabbage back on the menu, just get it! I tried their "The black parade" cocktail recently which was delicious. I recommend finishing off your meal with a "dirt cup". Yum!! read more

Unfortunately if you come right at 11 they won't seat you until they seat all the reservations. You will have to sit at a table outside which is fine but they definitely need to improve their system with their host when they have walk ins. The Eating House on Geralda Avenue is still one of my favorite brunch spots in the Coral Gables vicinity. The spacious, sleek and modern venue is very different from the old location yet the food and customer service is still on point. The candied, bacon loaded tater tots, Benedict Carbonara are my faves on the menu (and I highly recommend the latter mentioned if you're in the mood for black truffle. The Captain crunch pancakes are always a hit if you're in the mood for something sweet. Did I mention the acoustic design / acoustic comfort is perfect for actually having conversation?? (It's a pleasure to get together with friends and not have to scream across the table.) You can never go wrong with brunch at the Eating House. Eating house 2.0 is an absolute triumph. If you were a fan of the original iteration, you simply must make your way to the new location. The menu does a great job of bringing new items but still paying an homage to the previous tried and true fan favorites. The ambiance is elevated and so are the food, service and cocktails. The Brussel sprouts were divine as were the straciatella and the Parker rolls but the standout from the starters were the crispy potatoes. The carbonara was a symphony, the chicken two ways a wonderful reinterpretation. If you're a cocktail fan, the counter clockwise swirl was delicious, fresh and perfectly balanced. A new take on an old favorite, the re-incarcerated EH has plenty of good to offer. Came thru last nite for a post-bday dinner at the suggestion of a friend to give it a spin. Here's a breakdown of our experience: Things we ordered: - O.P.P Pinot Noir - Gin Cocktail (w/ The Botanist) - Whiskey Cocktail - Grilled Mushrooms - Crispy Potatoes - Heirloom Tomatoes - Spaghetti Alla Chitarra (NEW!) - Brussel Sprouts - Beignets Standouts were the Mushrooms and the Chitarra - would absolutely do both again. The Chitarra is a new menu item and was nicely balanced - great flavor but not too heavy. Grilled mushrooms literally tasted like steak, loved it. Heirloom tomatoes had a nice base to it and I think is what really holds the dish together, crispy potatoes a classic and good portion size. Everyone enjoyed their drinks, I really liked my Gin cocktail and glad they had The Botanist. Brussel sprouts and beignets were ok, probably wouldn't do those again. We reminisced a few times about the old spot and the vibe, which all of us agreed was preferable, though they had good music going (nice plus). Our server Jasmine ROCKED, great recommendations and service overall was great. S/0 to Ms. Jordan at the bar who we didn't interact with but is also a superstar and remember her well from it's sister restaurant Luca a few steps away. Something else that stood out was that it was a bit pricey, which has been noted by other patrons, and my friend said the Dirt Cup is not the same as before, having tried it at previous visit. Despite being super empty, hostess refused to let us sit down without full party and waitress rushed us through lunch. Literally- there were 20 empty tables but the restaurant runs on a table time clock. This isn't the Gables I grew up in- in fact, feels like maybe Miami Beach is more the clientele they want. Bottom line: Eating House is worth a drive out from Miami to "The Gables" to enjoy. Service at the bar was beyond great. Drinks, Happy Hour starters, main entree choices, every item was thoroughly enjoyable...highly recommend! The Deets: I was told that Eating House was the place to go and off we went one long weekend spent in Miami Beach. Eating House is a bit of a drive from Miami Beach, actually located in the Coral Gables area ("The Gables" according to locals) so we set out a bit earlier than rush hour on a Friday which put us there during Happy Hour...which didn't upset us a bit. Its look is modern but inviting inside. We sat at the bar for Happy Hour and enjoyed it so much decided to eat dinner at the bar as well instead of moving to a table at our reservation time. Our bartender/server Annie was amazing, no other word. Helpful, informative, great service, always with a smile...she definitely made the whole experience there the best. We were also told that the chef here is the first Miami contestant that won Food Network's "Chopped" show. We started Happy Hour with drinks and a couple of snacks from the Happy Hour menu to get us through until it was time for dinner. We selected the Parker House Rolls and the Crispy Rock Shrimp to have with our Prosecco and dirty martini with bleu cheese olives. The Parker House Rolls ("brown butter and flaky sea salt" per menu) were spot on, while the Crispy Rock Shrimp ("hoisin and carrot sriracha" per menu) were delicious and yes, I avoided the pieces with sriracha since I am not one for big spicy sauces. One more starter was in order before dinner and got Yellowfin Tuna Tartare (the jalapeño on this selection was seedless which gave a peppery taste without being heavy on the spice)...this starter was wonderful as well. When the time came for our main entree selection, we went with Buttermilk Fried Chicken Thighs and (of course I went with) Bucatini 'Carbonara' to enjoy. They say 'Carbonara' as it is not a purely traditional carbonara (menu describes with "egg yolk, black pepper, Heritage bacon, and black truffle), and I loved every bite of it. I was told this dish was one of their best and they did not exaggerate, it was pretty much perfection to me. I also got to enjoy a couple of bites of the chicken thighs and loved those as well. Even the leftovers were boxed up in such a helpful and convenient way, so as to suggest to make chicken sliders with carbonara sauce, for example. That's attention to detail. Recently visited eating house for their 4/20 themed tasting menu. The spot was lively and full of great energy. The staff was kind and provided good service considering they were dealing with a completely full restaurant. The manager saw that our tables drinks were taking long due to the bag being backed up and he immediately brought out a round of green tea shots on the house, which I thought was very kind and considerate considering we did not complain once. The food was good, the courses came out timely and were decent portions. My favorite was the lemon pepper chicken on brioche and the (what I consider) Taco Bell inspired Mac and cheese. Our group was having such a lovely time that I barely got any photos of the food. I managed to snap one of the pork belly appetizer and high was deliciously crispy Overall I enjoyed the experience and would love to come back to experience a different tasting menu. read more

Been meaning to try this place for a while now and I'm so glad I was finally able to do it! Stopped in on a Sunday for brunch and everything was so unique and delicious! We started off with the Honey Butter Parker Rolls which were like a cross between a dinner roll and a glazed donut. To drink I had the Dolores Street, which was their take on a spicy margarita infused with lychee...yum! I'm a big fan of Brussels sprouts and the Brussels Sprout Caesar hit the spot! The Loaded Tater Tots were the star of the show! I mean anything truffle has to be amazing right?! For the main course, we chose the French Dip Burger which was juicy and flavorful. Definitely exceeded my expectations. For dessert we had to try their signature Dirt Cup, which reminded me of a Carvel Ice Cream Cake with all of the extra Oreo crisps you never knew you wanted. I'm a huge fan of espresso martinis's so I had to try theirs... I went with the tequila version instead of vodka or rum and once again, they knocked it out of the park. The place was conveniently located in the heart of the Gables and the decor was modern and crisp. Our server was friendly and extremely accommodating and helpful. I finally tried eating house and while the food was good and service was good but I I was a bit underwhelmed. We started with a Brussel sprouts salad, it was yummy but I thought it would be cooked. Maybe people hyped it up too much? The day I went nothing on the menu wowed me so I shared the chicken and it was tasty. The mash potatoes were nothing I had ever seen before. They explained it to me that they use heavy cream and butter in a machine that makes whipped cream. For dessert we had the dirt cup which was like an elevated version of the tony romas one and it was very very good but the mash potatoes used so much cream in it that by the time dessert came my stomach was hurting. Someone had mentioned that this spot is great for lunch and brunch and lucca is better for dinner and after trying both I agree. I'll have to try the brunch menu here when I return. read more

This time, my husband and I tried their Miami spice menu (Aug and Sept), which was great because we ordered completely different items and were able to taste each other's foods. Great service and very nice ambiance. Our server was Sophie and she was polite and sweet. We started with the buratta with the guava sauce- super yummy! Then We had the pork chop with a delicious pumpkin puree and kale salad- it was so fresh and amazing. I'm going to give them a 10/10 for curating a menu that ties into the theme effortlessly- from names and flavors that really bring it together. My favorite's from today would be the Maui Wowie, Super Lemon Haze and Strawberry Cough. The Acapulco Gold is basically taco bell in a bowl but better quality/ingredients, the taste was spot on. After my last two visits at Luca Osteria at the end of your meal they always suggest to try their sister restaurant Eating House. I haven't been in years here as I would always come for their Captain Crunch Pancake for brunch so decided to give it a try. We started off our meal with a Can Blau * Mas de Can Blau 2015. Loved this Spanish Montsant wine! Must try! Cariñena grape is a must try! ** HUGE DISAPPOINMENT** Menu stated it was a 2014 bottle; waiter brought out a 2015. For establishment please inform a customer you don't have the bottle the Wine Menu List states. It will be greatly appreciated instead of assuming we are fine with it. CHECK that you get the bottle you're ordering I've also had this issue at Luca Osteria. For appetizers: * Brussel Sprout Caesar loved it! Unique combination and well executed. It's a big salad but with so many flavors in one. * Yellowfin Tuna Tartare is a must order! Brought me back to my childhood with their "crisps" as they're similar to keropok's I used to snack on. Service was mediocre at best. The server kept forgetting items for our table and was also slow in general. We marked birthday for our reservation and they completely forgot the birthday. It was never even addressed during our entire visit. We also asked for a table with the most possible lighting due to a low vision guest's needs. This was also noted in the reservation remarks section on the OpenTable reservation. They also missed this request and tried seating us at a dim table with no light despite the restaurant being virtually empty (there were only two other tables occupied in the entire restaurant). The food was ok, but not worth the hype. Also the server made a huge deal about a modification we asked for due to a guest having a jalapeno intolerance. They had to check three times to see if they could switch the side containing this ingredient out with a different side, and even when they did agree to do it they made it seem like it was some sort of favor.... "We don't really do modifications here....The chef wants you to experience the dishes as they come......because you expressed an intolerance the chef will make an exception". I wonder what they do with people with allergies? The kicker at the end was when the server hands me the credit card machine with 28% tip preselected. LOL. Not impressed at all.
