My son recently visited Eaton with my wife and purchased a pair of prescription glasses. He was encouraged by his mother to select a flashy steel rimmed frame. They both left pleased with his selection until he wore them to school. Several kids teased him about the style of the glasses to the point he stopped wearing them. The names he was being called was breaking my heart. I decided to step in and take him back to Eaton to get a pair of prescription sunglasses. My hope was to buy him a pair of glasses that would be less prone to abuse. I explained our situation to the Office Manager and she went out of her way to assist us. I could not believe she asked my son how he felt and how she could make the situation better. Without hesitation we were offered to exchange my son's glasses to something more traditional. I was blown away she offered to swap the glasses at no cost. I was very pleased with how we were treated and the attention my 12 year old son was given. Due to such great customer service being provided we decided to go ahead and also purchase the prescription sun glasses at the same time. Eaton has gained a customer for life. Our family will be purchasing the annual frames allotted by my insurance company only from Eaton. Both my wife and son wear glasses and we will be patrons of Eaton from here on out. read more

My Daughter was seen last week. I was amazed with the care she underwent. Dr. Ng just keeps getting better. Every time we see him our care is exceptional. My Daughter had strabismus surgery when she was 6. The muscles in her eye are weak and this tends to make her have headaches and muscle tension in her neck. Dr. Ng used his state of the art equipment that validated that my daughter was indeed a good candidate for the Nurolense. Dr. Ng tested the Nurolense to my Daughter's eyes and it was as if she could see clearly for the first time. It was amazing!!!! I will never trust anyone else when it comes to the health of my Daughter's eyes. I was so happy to tell my Daughter that she was eligible for new glasses. I felt like we were in a big city. The selection was great and extremely trendy. Thanks to Jennifer my Daughter was able to pick out the frames that were perfect for her. Jennifer is hilarious too. Great customer service, no wait times. The doctors are very professional. Dr Clark and Dr Yee took they're time finding the perfect contact lenses for my astigmatism, they gave me different brands to try. I tried each brand for a week and once we found a brand that fit perfectly and improved my vision I then ordered that brand. Dr Clark even followed up with me by phone before leaving on her vacation. I highly recommend Eaton Optometric Group As of July 10,2018 I'd to revise my rating to 1 1/2 STARS! I just came from picking my new contacts and was not given a written copy of my prescription for my lenses or a prescription for glasses. I was told that Dr Clark is the only Dr that could write my prescription and she's in this office on Thursdays. I'm wondering if this the way Eaton insures you buy your contacts from only them? Dr Clark had also told me she would write me a prescription for a different brand that are colored lenses and I was told two weeks ago that the prescription would be ready for me when I came to pick up my order. It wasn't and no other Dr in the office could write it, even though Dr Yee had given me a different brand to try.. My family has been going here for years. Jennifer is the best and probably one of the main reasons I keep coming back. She is so helpful, kind, and honest when it comes to finding the perfect glasses. I would give a 5 star rating, but my last visit was frustrating. I understand C0VID has changed a lot of things, and I try to be respectful and follow the rules set in place. I needed to make 4 appointments for my kids and myself. I was told that I need to make 2 separate appointments on separate days. My 6 year old and I go on a Thursday afternoon. I explain that I'll be back the next morning with my 8 and 10 year old, but I'll have to bring my 6 year old because I have no one to watch him. They were completely fine with all 4 of us coming to that appointment, but could not make 4 appointments on one day. They say they are trying to keep exposure minimal, but the staff and myself and one child were exposed twice to each other. It just doesn't make sense. read more

I had been having issues with my eyes for a while, and had been to two different doctors offices prior to my visit here. No one was able to properly diagnose me. At Kaiser, I was often rushed, its overcrowded, over priced, and the service is often lacking. At Eaton I did not feel this way...First I received several courtesy reminder calls from Brenda. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile by Brenda again with forms to fill out. I was then taken in by Sam who did my scans. They have this retinal scanner that sounds like its "beaming me up". After several tests and scans, I was then greeted by Dr. Ng. He was diligent, informative, and patient. If he was a mechanic, I would call him "Midas" because he has a personal touch that many doctors lack. He answered all of my questions and I learned a few things about eye care from him. After my evaluation with Dr. Ng, I was able to shop for my glasses! This is where Jen(sp?) helped. I told her that I was looking for "something different" and SHE NAILED IT with her ONE suggestion. She worked with my insurance and made the process as painless. Once the paperwork was set, I was checked out by Sherry(sp?). Overall, I was impressed with Dr. Ng and staff at Eaton Optometric Group. Just got home from an eye exam at Eaton Optometry, and it was BY FAR one of the BEST experiences I have ever had in choosing eyeglasses. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend them! By far the best optometrist and eyewear selection in town! My family has been coming to this practice for almost 20 years and even now living in SF I still make my way home when it comes to needing the latest diagnostic tools and the professional environment that is shown from the front desk to the opticians. Update....my Prada glasses came in ealry and the whole staff greeted me with hugs and even Dr. Ng came out to say hello. Also a few days ago he sent a hamdwritten thank you note that was personalized just for me. This showed me he not only remembered me but cared enough to take pen to cute card and hamdwrite a special thank you to me. Shivan also heard I was in the office and came to see me while I was getting fitted. Love her and all the staff!! Once again the entire staff was wonderful. I am a new patient to this office and was impressed with my first experience. The office staff was friendly yet professional. Lupe, the technician who did my initial baseline testing, was knowledgeable and explained everything as we went through each test. And Dr. Hartzell was great! He was very thorough and explained the findings from the tests - I learned some important things that I had not heard from previous optometric offices, like I have a freckle in my eye that's been there for a long long time. I was referred by a co worker. They spoke highly of the doctors. I called to make an appointment and the person who answered was not very polite. I equate politeness with professionalism. First he placed me on hold as soon as he picked up. Then once he got back on he asks, "whats your first name?" Then places me on hold again. Gets back on then asks, "your last name... Your number?" Then says someone will call me back. I asked why i cant make an appointment with him he says he has no access. He should have said, " may i please have your number?" Follow that with "thank you" then say, " may i have your phone number so i can have someone follow up with you. I am sorry i do not have access to the schedule but we value your business and i will make sure you get a call in a few minutes, thank u!" Thats called professionalism something this person lacked! I will not make an appointment with this office. They need to train the people who answer phones to be polite and pleasant. This is not new york no need to rush. Its freakin tracy! read more

Chose this place over a group in Livermore that I really liked, but wanted something closer to home. My appointment was early, but it was after opening time for that day. The door to their office was locked so I had to knock for them to open up. My exam went fine and Dr. Hertzel was professional and engaging. My first problem with Eaton was in getting my records transferred from my last eye doc. About a week and a half after my exam I called to ask about my contacts, and was told they had not got my records from my past doc. WHY did they not follow up sooner with me? I called my old doc in Livermore and they said "we faxed that info last week." I relayed this info to Eaton and was told they would follow up. Meanwhile, Dr. Hertzel ordered a brand of contacts that he thought I may have been wearing. Maybe a week later, I called to ask if my contacts were in, and was told yes. I told them I would come in later that evening to pick them up and the staff said ok. I arrived about 6:30 PM at their office and was ignored by the two office help for about 4-5 minutes. I don't expect them to drop everything, but just LOOK at me and say i'll be with you shortly. They have a sliding glass window to isolate the office area from the waiting room. I did not want to be rude and knock on the glass, but I came close to it several times! They brought my the contacts but I could NOT PICK THEM UP!, because the doc had to fit them to me as they were not the kind I had worn in the past. Fair enough, but some observations... why did they not tell me this before I came in? Why could they not get my records which showed which brand I wore? Why would they not allow me to bring my empty contact box in to show which brand I was using? (I did bring the box end in for my initial exam which contained my prescription data) Why make me wait for about 5 minutes before acknowledging me when I am the only one in the office? read more

I went to them because I was new in Tracy and they were the only ones on my insurance here. The eye appt. went well, and the doctor was great. I really wish the office people could have been a little more upfront on the costs. They told me that the plan pays this much for the exam, and I pay that much. OK I'm fine with that. Then after my contact lens exam - which had to be done at a different time than the glasses, I was informed of another fee for that! I asked them if that was the fee for both exams and she said it was. I hate being lied to. As far as their selection of frames - they have very little, and most are upper-end designer frames. VERY pricey. The girl who fit the frames and helped me pick them out was pushy and tried to get me to pick out $400 frames. All was said and done - I paid $1500 for a pair of everyday, and a pair of sunglasses, and $300 for contacts that proved to not be very comfortable. I have since gone elsewhere. read more
