We moved from Chicago less than a year ago and miss the dining scene there. But we have been lucky to find a handful of places in Austin that deliver on substance and style - Eberly being one of them. The decor and ambiance feels very California, the pizza was amazing and also made of Italian imported flour, which I could eat. The bad at the back is a cool spot for a quick drink and friendly catchup. Service was superb! Beautiful architecture and decor! Food okay. Toilets are extremely dimly lit. Doors on the stalls are difficult to secure. Seating was oversold. Dinner was served on small occasional tables in the bar. It seemed like we were at the children's table at Thanksgiving.. Lounge chairs and sofa are fine for slouching but poor for dining. Eberly is located off south Lamar in a seemingly random spot, but once you go inside it feels like you're transported somewhere else! The interior is so pretty and well lit. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our waiter was very kind and even noticed our table wobbled and corrected it. He kept checking in to make sure my coffee stayed full! My cousin and I shared the chicken and waffles and a brunch board. Both were quite tasty but I liked the brunch board more. When they served it at our table the waitress noticed it was missing a Brie so she made sure to add it for us (not like we knew it was missing!). The space inside is really large. It seemed like there were two bar areas and an indoor patio with wonderfully arched windows. It also looked like there was a small patio was well. Well deserved 5 ... Made a dinner reservation for my husband's b'day and I am glad.. wasn't disappointed at all ! I made a reservation through open table and a day before our visit got a call from the restaurant confirming my booking. They have a complimentary valet! Awesome.. Greeted promptly by the hostess and were seated immediately. Our server Scott was excellent. I was glad to know they had printed a special menu (with my husband's name on it). - making it special always adds that extra charm. I choose a red wine and my husband went with their forever summer cocktail. The cocktail was excellent. Starting with the Focassia bread - woo can't say much it's a must TRY .. freshly baked with herbs ! Second was the mushroom pot pie - OMG I loved this too .. the sauce was perfect and the pie was perfectly baked with crispy flakes ! Next was the herb roasted carrots which I would say 2/5 !! The carrots were not sweet and I thought could had been a little more roasted .. and it even lacked the herbs flavors. I chose roasted cauliflower and my husband choose salmon for the entree. Which was ok I felt .. could be done better. We ended with the banana dessert with was a stellar. Beautiful presentation and just yummy - and it was complementary for the birthday occasion. Definitely a great place for Date night ! The overall restaurant is unique and gorgeous with its own charm. I've been here for brunch and have wanted to come back for dinner. So i did, for my birthday. The staff signed a card that wished me a happy birthday. It's free valet. i wanted to eat in the cedar tavern bar because i read the owners brought it from a bar in NYC that was built in the 1880s! I love the ambiance of the back area but the entire restaurant in general. The menu is not extensive but quite varied. I wish i got the octopus but I liked the kanpachi (fish could've been colder)and oysters were from PEI. i liked the lion's mane mushroom dish but the potatoes were too tart/sour. i also got a cucumber gimlet (zero-proof) and i found it also too limey. could be me! My partner's salmon was delicious! i was using his sauce with my mushroom steak. sitting at the bar is nice, we got to chat with the bartenders, view the other patrons, we even talked to the guy who was responsible for the music/vibe. they own 1 of 500 record players and i was exposed to classic rock. I mentioned to one of the servers it was really warm in the room and soon, i felt the AC go on. Thank you! Bathrooms are nice as well. Came here with some friends after they reopened. We were the only ones in their outdoor seating that night. Staff followed strict protocols and felt very safe. For food we ordered one of everything for 6 of us. I enjoyed the beef tartare and octopus appetizers. On the main dish I really enjoyed the pasta they had that night as well as the filet (medium rare). Portions are either on the smaller side or we were really hungry as it seemed like everyone are two entrees. Parking was a little confusing at first but they have valet. read more

However, our waitress Christiana H. was awful - she kept trying to make us get the most expensive dishes, making faces when we weren't ready to order, rolling her eyes when we did not want dessert, and getting frustrated when we told her one of our party was late even though we were ready to order. It made the night very unpleasant despite the ambiance and vibes or the restaurant - the food was fantastic and the scenery was beautiful despite disrespectful service. Went here for brunch and everything was so delicious! The Spanish tortilla is a must have, they prepare it so we'll. My friend got the French toast which was also very good. Our favorite by far was the cinnamon monkey bread, the perfect starter. The staff is extremely nice and helpful, they gave us a tour of the restaurant after we ate and told us all about its history. This place was really cool, I loved the ambiance. Food was pretty tasty too. Menu was interesting, the reason I docked a star was because of service. I am a restaurant manager for Pappas and I honestly have never been to a restaurant that has given us so many no's to things we've asked for. We were in town for a bachelorette party and the bride wanted us all to go here. Someone in our group asked for a substitution on her plate and they told her they couldn't do that. Another person in our group didn't like her potatoes and I asked our server if they could just cook them a little longer and she told us no and they will just taste the same. Someone else asked for egg whites and our server said sorry all the eggs are scrambled already but then she allowed for other people to order their eggs sunny side up. Contradicting, you say? So do they just have all the eggs made in the back like service from a steam table? I ordered the salmon French toast and it was oddly really good, flavors that I didn't think would go together worked. Presentation was nice as well. Portions were not huge, satisfying enough. Bathrooms were really nice and conjoined for everyone. Another woman from our group asked for change and the server told us if it's for valet they can make change for you. I honestly was pretty taken aback by how many no's we were told. Menu is simple and short with tasteful appetizers. A must try is the hot warm bread with a liquid creamy whipped salty butter. Mixed with the crunch and cheesy bread, amazing taste/experience. We had the scallops and salmon dishes with wonderful taste of leafs, creamy of salt and sugar, along with an airy taste. Scallops, I would of preferred to have a much more crispier crust but it didn't have that but clean strong scallops taste it made up for it. Ambiance was top notch! Our table had various cocktails and champ. Service was slightly slow but we just rolled with it. After drinks moved to apps (muscles, grilled octopus) both amazing. Most of us ordered the short rib and it was perfection. A few of us added on truffle (would skip), the truffle was graded and tasteless so not worth the $10 up charge. Another person ordered the half chicken and honestly that was a huge chicken. You could probably order for 2-3 people to share. We also ordered the Brussel sprouts and OMG crispy perfection! Came here for the beautiful glass library in the center of the restaurant I wanted to see but unfortunately it wasn't possible to sit in that area. The rest of the restaurant is nice, but nothing out of the norm. Food was good, fairly typical choices for brunch and the survive was very quick. Eberly is a gorgeous restaurant with solid food, drink, and service. 100% the kind of place I'd choose for a first date if I was in my mid 20s and wanted to impress. Hell, even in my mid 30s this place still hits. It's like suddenly living life through an Instagram filter. My partner and I carbed up with Japanese milk rolls, mushroom mafaldini, and braised pork cheek ragu. All were delicious. Roasted banana crème brûlée and apple frangipane tart were even better. But I think my favorite items here were the cocktails. I highly recommend the Don't Look Back if you like mezcal. I never know what to do with mezcal other than drink it neat, so whenever a place nails a mezcal cocktail, I'm always impressed. Loved the Tristezza and Watchtower as well, but they all sounded great. Definitely need to return for the Anejo Manhattan. Only thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars is the fact that I've only been here once, and we were seated at a bar high top. While the bar is super cool, and I want to try dining in The Study with some friends next time to get the full experience. read more

I've loved Eberly in the past. It's one of those places that are consistently great. Today I decided to try them for brunch for the first time. The food was great. If there's short rib in the menu anywhere that is what I order. The short rib hash was delicious. The pinto bean puree was luscious. The sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked. The short rib melted in my mouth. I ordered the El Paso cocktail and I was nervous about it having tuaca as one of the ingredients. I don't love the taste of vanilla and was worried it would be too strong on the drink. It was actually just perfect. My one and only complaint was the service. It was my friend's birthday and even though I noted it on our reservation they did not give her a happy birthday card like they usually do. Our waiter was standoffish and not attentive. I still love Eberly but wish the experience would have been better considering my friends had never been there. read more

Eberly is an eclectic place with a menu full of great food. Everything we ordered was amazing. Ignore the other reviews complaint of "collard greens" being on the southern Benedict, the Benedict is amazing and the greens are listed on the menu so I'm not sure what their complaint is. I've found my new favorite brunch spot in Austin! My bestie and I decided to finally make brunch reservations at Eberly, because we've been dying to try their food since having their cocktails. l made a reservation in advance, and called to have us seated in their study area if possible. I highly recommend doing this for the best experience! They can't always guarantee seating in the study depending on how many reservations they receive for certain days, but if you call to request they will make sure to hold a table for you if there's room. The study room is gorgeous, and I adore the vibes in there!! I had the perfect escape, chocolate muffin, and fried chicken sandwich with Parmesan fries. Our server was incredibly attentive, and was always checking in to make sure we were well taken cared of. I must warn the chocolate muffin is extremely rich, so I recommend eating it when you're feeling a particularly sweet treat! My sandwich and fries were cooked to perfection, and served hot and ready. I went to Eberly the first time for a friend's birthday party. The moment I stepped inside the restaurant, I was already impressed with their decor and ambiance. The drinks and apps were great so I decided to invite my out of town family over to have dinner there. Everyone was impressed and pleased with everything from the food to the service. One caveat is that the meals are on the expensive side but I get what I paid for. I'm happy to recommend and take my friends and families to this place in the future to experience Austin for sure! read more

This is possibly the best cauliflower I've ever eaten. There was so much flavor and the perfect amount of cauliflower. There are some places I've gone to where they have some sort of expensive cauliflower dish and it'll only have 5 pieces of bland cauliflower. It kind of feels like you're getting robbed. Eberly does not do that! Their dish is an entire head of cauliflower that has so much flavor and detail. It's obvious in every bite that they put effort into creating it. Chicken Croquets: 6/10: Good, but rather bland. Nothing in them shined, and while it was tasty, not very memorable. Beef Tartare: 9/10: Really, really good. The dressing was perfect, and the bone marrow was perfect. My only annoyance with the dish was the wafers it was served with were too brittle and didn't add much flavor. Something like a thin sliced toasted baguette would have been preferable to me. Uni Spaghetti: 9/10: Delicious, the seafood popped in our mouths. This was something I would order again. Crab Cake & Scallop: 3/10: I was very disappointed by this dish. The crab cake was made with cheaper crab, like claw meat, with not a bit of lump to be found. This made the cakes chewy and dry. The crab cakes were then deep-fried, which didn't help them at all. Eberly could take a lesson from Eddie V's downtown; the difference in each one's crab cake is night and day. The scallops were cooked well but did nothing for the dish, and given Eberly charges $8 per scallop, saving $16 on this dish would not have made it any different. It was all served over a mix of something that looked like pearled couscous mixed with frozen peas and carrots that you buy at the grocery store. This was a huge failure. Avoid this one. Brussels Sprouts: 10/10: These were delicious, I could have just eaten these and been very happy. Perfectly caramelized, and the dressing was top-notch. This one shined. Sticky Toffee Pudding: 9/10: Very, very good. The toffee, ice cream, and caramel sauce combination were very good. This one is also not to be missed. Overall: 7.5/10...The crab cake dish was just flat-out bad, which soured our experience. Had I not ordered the crab cake, this easily would have been a 9/10 meal. We have been to Eberly before and did not experience this before...so I think we will be back. read more

She made our night very pleasant! I came here to celebrate my friend's graduation. Although I spilled a whole drink on her, things didn't get awkward as I thought LOL she was able to clean and bring us a new drink right away! We ordered the following: Crudo Oysters Scallops Ravioli Pumpkin creme brulee Crudo was okay, presentation was good, but didn't taste very fresh as if you'd get it at a sushi restaurant. Flavors were mild kind of similar to ceviche honestly. Oysters were fantastic. Fresh as can be. Scallops were panfried beautifully, but very similar to the ones I make at home. A bit chewy on the inside. Ravioli had a great sweet squash flavor, I prefer this to be saucy and not soupy but it is what it is. A very light dish. Pumpkin creme brulee is a hit! I would come back just for this!! I really wish I could have more. The subtle flavors of the pumpkin and the bread topped off was amazing! Overall, good experience. Wanted to love this place:/ the food was really good and the drinks. The customer service wasn't great-- they were not personable and didn't check on us or ask if we wanted more drinks we had to wave down the bartender. We made reservations through the app and when we got there they proceeded to sit us at the bar when the whole place was basically empty saying they didn't have any seats. Not sure what that was about but me and my bf don't mind sitting at the bar just wish they explained that better to us. The ambiance is awesome here I love the vintage feel! Not too crazy about the community bathrooms-- I'm glad it is inclusive but feels a bit uncomfortable and made the bathroom smell like pee. read more

My husband and I recently had our intimate wedding ceremony and reception at Eberly and we were absolutely blown away by this venue and their staff. Our guests could not stop telling us how beautiful the space was. Eberly is such a gem-- The Study dining space was featured in Architectural Digest as one of the most gorgeous glass restaurants. The meal was absolutely delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. And most importantly, the event staff was top notch. Sarah Thevenot and Carla Jimenez assisted us in planning and coordinating for the day of. Everything ran so smoothly and they took so much stress off of us. Couldn't tell if the bathroom was clean (one bathroom for everyone) it was very dark in there. As soon as Eberly reopened, I popped my head to check out the restaurant and was so wowed by the architecture that we decided to host our upcoming wedding in The Study. We have been working with Sarah Thevenot, the manager and she was been nothing short of amazing. To decide on our menu, we had our "tasting" last night with a group pf friends so that allowed us to try just about everything on the menu. We tried some amazing cocktails as well as a few off the menu thanks to Tyler, the GM. The favorites on the current menu are Nick The Lounge Singer, Sixteen Jackies and Don't Look Back. Kudos to the creative genius who comes up with the names. Had a super nice date night here last weekend. The restaurant is super pretty, like a vintage vibe with the music and lighting but somehow also modern. We started with a charcuterie plate, which was lovely, then we got the bread, the filet, the bolognese and the shells and cheese. The shells and cheese were the absolute favorite. Not sure what's in them but I'm fairly sure it should be illegal. It was incredible, the filet was also wonderful, perfectly cooked, and the bolognese was yummy though the SO was still hungry after so I happily split my filet so that I could have room for more shells and cheese, everyone won! Somehow we still had room for dessert and ended with the stone fruit tart and ice cream. It was such good crust, I'm a big crust fan, and the ice cream was so so good! Finally tried Eberly. I LOVE the bar! Get someone to tell you the history of the restaurant (it's centered around the historic wooden bar! ) Drinks were tasty & STRONG! ;) I had Newton Old Fashioned (with fig - get it? Fig "newton"?) & one with tequila that I can't remember the name of. For dinner I had Salmon. It was cooked perfectly and I LOVED the hushpuppies. I'm from the South and, although these were "gourmet, FANCY" hushpuppies, they are DELICIOUS! Had high(er) expectations based on reviews and pictures online. Went with two friends for brunch and left very unimpressed. Ordered -Monkey bread -Southern Benedict -Hot chicken sam' -French Toast -Avocado bowl (never came) -Hot sauce (never came) Chicken sam was mediocre at best, unsure if it was supposed to be fried, I was hoping so but it was a soggy, chewy 1/3 of a chicken breast with a little hot sauce put into a massive bun that felt a bit stale. All you tasted was bread on every bite. Also chicken tasted borderline microwaved. Super disappointed. I did not get the avocado bowl side I ordered but nor was I charged for it. French toast was one slice. Good but c'mon one slice for $15? Benedict was good but they never bought the hot sauce nor checked on us to order it again so only until we were 3/4 done w it, we were able to season it to our liking. Monkey bread was the highlight, which seems to be made out of Hawaiian rolls, so good but certainly not a unique recipe by any measure. Service was friendly but inattentive. Brought us check w/out asking if we wanted anything else or more coffee etc. Maybe dinner is a better bet but based on all the hype, this place was disappointing in food, service and quality. read more
