Pro tip: Check for daily happy hour times! Sunday HH is between 5 & 7!! On a Sunday!! A fun surprise. Dish Society is a solid spot to gather with a group at any time throughout the week. With a point system to accrue benefits over time, and at each visit, and impressive happy hour specials for both food and drinks, it's hard not to visit more than once. Every member of service either greeted us, or supported our needs with a smile. Calvin, especially, made sure every step of our experience from walking in through ordering was special. While we didn't indulge in the beverages, we enjoyed the $10 burger special which also came with fries! We paired this with a side of a $6 Caesar Salad (really tasty and thrown together with thinly sliced cabbage, roasted chickpeas, and popcorn chicken). Next time, I'd really love to try the truffle mac and cheese (which was also on HH). We weren't aware of the upcharge for swapping out the slice of American for Cheddar (+$1.50), which would've been nice to know ahead of time, since we both got burgers and wondered about the swap...but lesson learned. Also, BIG lesson learned...the parking validation is for only two hours! We were having such a lovely time at Dish Society, but exceeded the 2 hrs (by an extra hour) and got charged a significant amount for parking. Next time, we will certainly park on the street. We tried reasoning with the parking attendant and they wanted no business in understanding we were patrons of the restaurant. After you enter, pick up a menu and look through, making your selections and ordering at the cash register counter. It is a bit impersonal and again challenges the concept of tipping. You are given a number, and you have to gather your own drinks. The food order is brought out to you. Again, tipping is based on service and there is basically none, food delivery is not service. I ended up parking on the street. I had brunch at Dish Society and you can either order from a QR code on your table or order at the counter. I downloaded their app and initially was sent an offer for a free beverage. I ordered the Spiced Apple Cider and it hit the spot and was so warm and flavorful the perfect comfort beverage. For my breakfast entree I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, gulf shrimp, smoked gouda grits, tabasco shallot butter sauce, bacon crumbles, sunny side vital farms egg. I got the Tabasco sauce on the side and the grits had a great flavor and texture for a very savory and flavorful dish. I also came during the social hour and took advantage of $7 cocktails and ordered the spicy strawberry margarita with socorro tequila, paula's orange, jalapeño, strawberry, tajin. I used my free bday entree coupon from the app to order the Citrus glazed salmon to go. We've been to Dish Society SEVERAL times now -- for brunch, lunch, and happy hour -- and every single visit always has some sort of hit! The food here is fresh, local, and absolutely delicious, with so much care clearly put into every dish! We've loved everything we've tried, but a few standouts have been the Texas hot chicken sandwich (crispy, juicy, sweet, and savory perfection), the smoked salmon avocado toast (so fresh and flavorful), ranch-style eggs, and the grilled pesto chicken sandwich. During happy hour, we grabbed the burger, some bites and drinks, with the burger for sure being a must -- and the team even offered to cut the burger in half since we mentioned we were sharing. Small touches like that go a long way! Their happy hour is also a great deal and definitely worth checking out. And if you've got a sweet tooth, don't skip dessert -- the Proud Pies they source from Houston are dangerously good. We still need to go back just to do a full pie tasting! My BLT with avocado was good but nothing special. Actually liked the fries more. The Blood Orange Lalo-ma was the winner of the day.
