My husband and I love the Mueller location, so we decided to try this one for a change. The menu is the same, and I imagine the quality of most dishes is usually comparable. We typically enjoy ordering the skillet, but unfortunately, we had a very strange experience during this visit. Even though we were the only customers there, it took around 20 minutes for our food to come out. When it finally arrived, the skillet was completely cold to the touch, and every bite was room temperature. We were genuinely confused, and it was one of the few times we felt the need to send a dish back. Because of that experience, we likely would not return to this particular location, especially when we've had consistently better visits at the Mueller one. read more

Pro tip: Check for daily happy hour times! Sunday HH is between 5 & 7!! On a Sunday!! A fun surprise. Dish Society is a solid spot to gather with a group at any time throughout the week. With a point system to accrue benefits over time, and at each visit, and impressive happy hour specials for both food and drinks, it's hard not to visit more than once. Every member of service either greeted us, or supported our needs with a smile. Calvin, especially, made sure every step of our experience from walking in through ordering was special. While we didn't indulge in the beverages, we enjoyed the $10 burger special which also came with fries! We paired this with a side of a $6 Caesar Salad (really tasty and thrown together with thinly sliced cabbage, roasted chickpeas, and popcorn chicken). Next time, I'd really love to try the truffle mac and cheese (which was also on HH). We weren't aware of the upcharge for swapping out the slice of American for Cheddar (+$1.50), which would've been nice to know ahead of time, since we both got burgers and wondered about the swap...but lesson learned. Also, BIG lesson learned...the parking validation is for only two hours! We were having such a lovely time at Dish Society, but exceeded the 2 hrs (by an extra hour) and got charged a significant amount for parking. Next time, we will certainly park on the street. We tried reasoning with the parking attendant and they wanted no business in understanding we were patrons of the restaurant. It was certainly an unexpected shock, and didn't leave the best final touch of our evening (specifically in that parking garage). After you enter, pick up a menu and look through, making your selections and ordering at the cash register counter. It is a bit impersonal and again challenges the concept of tipping. You are given a number, and you have to gather your own drinks. The food order is brought out to you. Again, tipping is based on service and there is basically none, food delivery is not service. Everything is very self-service here. Not a problem at all, just don't expect a server to attend your table. I came around 11:30 and the restaurant was pretty empty. For my lunch, I ordered the citrus glazed salmon as my entree. The salmon came beautifully prepared. It was perfectly crisp outside and tender inside. I was a little worried the dish would be too sweet or saucy, but that's not the case at all. Close to noon, the lunch crowd came and the restaurant got a lot busier. My go to neighborhood place to get a little work done and have a bite to eat. They have a large, varied menu and it's always fresh and delicious. I start with a juice Entry Level- pineapple * carrot * orange * ginger. Yum! or a coffee drink depending on the time day. On my last visit, I tried the shrimp and grits and it was good. My partner ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken and instead of croutons - crispy chickpeas. Win! And get this, for the rest of July - kids eat free! What a deal. The vibe inside is super cute, clean, and welcoming, with a small outdoor patio that's perfect for a sunny Austin day and even if Austin's weird weather comes into play part of the outdoor seating is also covered. When we've gone it's never felt overly crowded (except one time during a morning rush, but we can see why) and the customer service has been phenomenal every time -- from staff offering great recommendations to keeping tables spotless and making sure guests are happy. We've loved everything we've tried, but a few standouts have been the Texas hot chicken sandwich (crispy, juicy, sweet, and savory perfection), the smoked salmon avocado toast (so fresh and flavorful), ranch-style eggs, and the grilled pesto chicken sandwich. During happy hour, we grabbed the burger, some bites and drinks, with the burger for sure being a must -- and the team even offered to cut the burger in half since we mentioned we were sharing. Small touches like that go a long way! Their happy hour is also a great deal and definitely worth checking out. And if you've got a sweet tooth, don't skip dessert -- the Proud Pies they source from Houston are dangerously good. We still need to go back just to do a full pie tasting! The white chocolate pretzel bread pudding was warm, rich, and gave off total almond croissant vibes. This is my 3rd time at Dish but 1st time at this location. I like how there is validated garage parking right below the building. It's super convenient and takes the stress out of finding parking. I do prefer restaurants that have table service instead of ordering at the counter. It feels more rushed to make a decision from a fairly lengthy menu. The food does taste fresh. My BLT with avocado was good but nothing special. Actually liked the fries more. The Blood Orange Lalo-ma was the winner of the day. There are plenty of indoor seats with a bar and a nice, covered outdoor space as well for this location. You can order from the tables outside via the QR code which I didn't realize until we had already ordered inside.
